Taissa Farmiga is a young American-Ukrainian actress who became famous and popular after her appearance in the TV series American Horror Story, as well as in the feature film This Dark World.
These works brought the young beauty her first success, laying the necessary foundation for her entire subsequent career. At the moment, Taissa Farmiga is considered one of the most promising actresses in the history of the American film industry. They predict a great future for her. Today, Taissa does not have a husband or child. The talented actress is completely focused on developing her career and, in general, does not really like to talk publicly about her romantic relationships. It is known that for some time Farmiga dated an actor named Evan Peters, whom she met on the set of the series “American Horror Story.” However, this romance did not last long and the young people broke up.

The future American film star was born in the town of Whitehouse Station, located in New Jersey.
This significant event took place on August 17, 1994. Thus, our today's heroine became the youngest child in a large and friendly family of Ukrainian emigrants who moved to America back in the eighties of the twentieth century. The father of the future actress, Mikhailo Farmiga, worked as a computer engineer. Mom - Lyubov - worked as a teacher in one of the private schools in New Jersey. In total, their family had seven children. However, this state of affairs never bothered the Ukrainian couple. Peace and tranquility always reigned in their home. The children looked after each other themselves. That’s why the Farmiga family has always been very friendly.

The only thing my parents insisted on was knowledge of Ukrainian culture and language. As noted in some sources, Taissa and her many brothers and sisters have visited Ukraine several times. In addition, according to the actress herself, she and other members of her family speak Ukrainian perfectly.

As for her acting career, it began for Taissa at the very moment when her older sister, Vera Farmiga, decided to become an actress. Due to the large age difference, Taissa always knew her as one of the established stars of Hollywood. She followed the course of her older sister's career, and also, crossing her fingers, prayed for her on the very day when Vera's name was among the Oscar nominees.

Looking at how her sister’s career was shaping up, our today’s heroine began to think about the acting profession. However, for a long time, Taissa still did not take her creative craft truly seriously. She loved sports and snowboarding. In addition, the girl sometimes also thought about becoming a model. Thus, the acting profession has always been something of a fallback option for her. Taissa didn't place any special bets on her. But at one point her older sister intervened in the matter.

Childhood and youth

On August 6, 1973, Vera Farmiga was born in the town of Clifton, Passaic County, New Jersey. She became the second oldest child in the family. Vera has an older brother named Victor, younger brothers Stefan, Alexander and sisters Taissa, Nadezhda, Larisa.

By the way, following the example of her older sister, Taissa followed the path of a film actress. However, the girl did not limit herself to this and also became a theater, voice-over, and television artist. She is best known to viewers for her role as Violet Harmon from the mystical television series American Horror Story.

Vera Farmiga’s parents are emigrants from Ukraine, of which there were many in the girl’s hometown. For this reason, the baby practically did not know how to speak English until the age of six.

The child communicated with his emigrant friends and family in pure Ukrainian. It should be noted that Farmiga still speaks her native language perfectly.

The head of the family, Mikhailo Farmiga, was a programmer-analyst, and mother Lyubov was a primary school teacher in one of the local schools in the city. Vera Ann, her brothers and sisters lived in abundance and were provided with everything they needed.

When the future TV star was a little over ten years old, the Farmigo family moved to the city of Irvington. The girl’s parents are Catholics, so she began to attend the corresponding educational institution, where teaching was conducted in Ukrainian. She left school in the early 1990s.

During her school years, Farmiga joined a Ukrainian ensemble. As part of the group, she danced and performed songs. The girl also learned to play the piano, in which she received a universal vocation. Vera loved to play football and was a member of a women's scout team called "Plast".

For most of her childhood, Vera Ann dreamed of working as an ophthalmologist. However, her love for the stage won, so after graduating from school she became a student at Syracuse University. Here the girl studied acting for four years.

Having successfully completed her studies and received a diploma, Farmiga becomes an aspiring artist. For her first serious work, she chose performances on Broadway and small roles in various television films.

On the contrary, having played her first role, the girl decided to develop in this field and very soon went to acting classes and found herself a personal agent. At the same time, she appeared at various competitions and festivals, which included screenings of her older sister’s film. At the famous Sundance Film festival, jury members highly appreciated the creative potential of the young actress. A similar opinion was supported by some famous American journalists.

Vera Farmiga, the eldest of the sisters, became famous after the release of the TV series Law & Order in 1996. In 2011, the actress tried her hand at directing, releasing the full-length film “Heaven and Earth.” She entrusted one of the minor roles to her younger sister Taissa, who at that time was sixteen years old. And Vera made the right decision! The girl coped with the role of Corinne Walker excellently. The successful start of his acting career was cemented by his work in the TV series American Horror Story. Only five years have passed since then, and the young American actress of Ukrainian origin has already managed to play in a dozen films.

For two years, the young people avoided appearing in public together, but in February 2020, Taissa Farmiga and her boyfriend Hadley announced that they were dating by posting funny photos taken on Instagram in an express booth. Hadley Klein is not yet so famous, but he is considered a very promising director. The girl doesn’t seem to care about her boyfriend’s lack of fame. The first season of “Murder House” tells about the life of the Harmon family, which changes their place of residence so that such a change will help the spouses solve problems in their relationship. Here the actress plays the couple's daughter, a withdrawn girl suffering from a lack of parental attention. The family settles in a cursed house, and Violet's beau becomes a psychopathic teenager with homicidal mania (Peter Evans). It later turns out that the girl fell in love with a ghost.

The next time the actress appears in the third season of the series, called “Coven,” and is again part of the main cast. The plot of this season is about a witch clan. Young witches gather together in New Orleans, where in a special school girls are taught to protect themselves from hostile people. The actress's heroine, the witch Zoe Benson, also comes to these gatherings, but unlike other young witches, Zoe has a secret that the girl does not want to share with the clan.

The actress appeared in the series again only in the sixth season – “Roanoke”, and only in the role of a guest celebrity. A special feature of this series is that the season was filmed in a film-within-a-film format. The series follows the story of a fictional paranormal documentary series called My Roanoke Nightmare and follows actors who play the roles of a family that moves into a haunted house.

The breakthrough in Taissa's career came in 2013. First, she first appeared before the audience as a central figure in the thriller Psychic 2: Labyrinths of the Mind, and then, together with Emma Watson, shared the laurels in the crime drama Elite Society. The latter premiered at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. The plot of the film is based on real events, and the script is based on the article “Criminals Weared Louboutins” by Nancy Jo Sales about a gang of teenage robbers who stole valuables from the homes of celebrities.

At the same time, the girl again collaborated on the same set with her sister Vera in the light comedy “Middleton.”

Even more interesting films with Farmiga’s participation were released in 2015. The black comedy “The Final Girls” is also worth mentioning. In the first, the actress joined the main cast of the series, receiving the role of a reporter.

In the film “The Last Girls” the actress plays the main role. In the story, teenagers find themselves in an anomaly that takes them into the reality of a slasher film that was shown on the screen. Taissa's heroine is one of the spectators in the film, but she is distinguished from others by an important fact: the girl is the daughter of the actress who played the main role in this slasher film.

The main film of 2020 in Taissa’s creative biography was one of the best works of the young actress, the melodrama “6 Years”, in which she, together with Ben Rosenfield, portrayed a love couple facing difficult events.

First role

The success of her older sister did not leave Taissa indifferent, and when Vera invited her to participate in the filming of the film “This Dark World,” the girl agreed. Vera Farmiga, among other things, was the director of the film; the film became her directorial debut. The role of Taissa was inconspicuous, but the creative atmosphere of the set, meeting professional actors and the sense of responsibility for her work made such a strong impression on the seventeen-year-old girl that she, without hesitation, decided to become an actress.

Taissa's decision was strengthened after This Dark World was screened at the Sundance Film Festival and she saw herself on the big screen. After this, the aspiring actress starred in another film of her older sister - “Heaven and Earth”, in which she played the young Corinne Walker, an almost episodic role, but Taissa tried to perform it as best as possible.

Taissa Farmiga was lucky enough to show off her mastery of the Western genre in a film directed by Ty West.

In the film she played with John Travolta, who tried on the image of Clyde Martin. She got the role of one of the sisters who ran a hotel somewhere in the Wild West on the border with Mexico.

One day, a lonely traveler named Paul (Ethan Hawke) found refuge here. He took a liking to his younger sister, Mary Ann. Taissa played her role.

Paul had to leave the town because of a clash with the marshal's son. The film is built on the adventures of the hero and the audience's anticipation of whether Mary Anne will meet her love.
