What kind of loner is there if I have two beautiful daughters?! And our family cannot be called incomplete, because it is full of love. I will continue my self-presentation.
I’m 37 years old, I rent an apartment, I don’t have a permanent job because I don’t work in the theater. With cinema, everything is not easy, given that I have a non-standard appearance for Russian perception. Casting directors directly say: “We can’t cast Poltorak as the main character’s wife. According to the script, he cheats on her - the viewer won’t believe it.” I’m not complaining: there are almost fifty films in the filmography, half of them have leading roles. In the fall, four premieres took place simultaneously - “Dangerous Liaisons”, the tenth season of “Traffic Light”, “The Fugitive” and “Trotsky”. “The Fugitive” was shown in one weekend – all 20 episodes. The same thing happened with the rest of the series - they flew by and remained almost unnoticed. I treat this state of affairs with humor. I know that I have to earn money so that my daughters and I do not survive in Moscow, but live with dignity. Otherwise, what was the point of moving here 15 years ago?
– Did you hit the actress by chance?
- Honestly? I grew up as a complex child. There was a problem with my academic performance, and the main reason was modesty and fear of public speaking. I knew the answer, but I was afraid to raise my hand. She read poetry well, but she started coughing at the blackboard - she was so nervous.
And so all the time: what I’m afraid of, that’s what I do. For example, I took it and entered the theater department - this is with pathological modesty and lack of connections! I come from a simple family. Dad was an assembler, built bridges, worked on a rotational basis, and mom was a secretary at a technical school. Dad could ask when I was already studying at the university: “Daughter, how are things at school?” He was so far from my sister Olesya’s and my upbringing. He believed that a man’s task is not to bother with children, but to bring money into the house to the best of his ability.
I didn’t think about becoming an actress. There was only one desire: to work in the theater, at least as someone. A few years later, when I was finishing school, my mother brought home a bunch of booklets for admission to universities, one of them turned out to be from Ulyanovsk University, from the Faculty of Culture and Art. And that’s it, I went and did it.
– They are often expelled from the theater.
Have you passed by? - No, that's exactly what happened. I was active in sports, I was a well-built... "guy with a deadlift of 95 kilograms for 12 reps." Of course, Batman couldn’t master the choreography at the barre – there was no flexibility. The teachers advised me to give up sports, which I did. At the same time, I forgot about proper nutrition. As a result, from the lyrical heroine that I was taken upon upon admission, I turned... into a characteristic portly matryon! When she ran from behind the scenes to the stage, the gallery was shaking. I was ashamed of my new body, I felt complex and repressed. I started wearing my mother’s baggy clothes; there was no money for new things. And at some point I stopped even fitting into my mother’s skirts. I just hated myself! I started actively skipping classes, and as a result, by the end of the second year I was expelled. In order not to sit on my parents’ necks, I went to Moscow.
I worked as a waitress for a year and lived in a room that was completely unsanitary. I caught shingles. She brought herself to the point of complete exhaustion and returned to Ulyanovsk for treatment. My family didn’t recognize me - I had lost a lot of weight. One evening I went to the theater and met the chief director of the Ulyanovsk Drama Theater, Yuri Semenovich Kopylov. He was always present at exams in our theater. He asked where she had gone and offered to continue her studies in his course. If not for this meeting, I would not have returned to the profession.
– Our family cannot be called incomplete, because it is full of love.
– How were things on the personal front for the girl who had become dramatically prettier?
– In the company I met the father of Valeria, my eldest daughter. It was fun and easy with him, I didn’t think about anything. Even about why the young guy doesn’t work anywhere, he dropped out of two universities. We got married. Two weeks later I became pregnant, nine months later I gave birth to a child, and after another four I left my husband. He spent time at home, and I studied and worked - in the theater and in the fitness club, leading training sessions. One day I returned home, called the intercom, and stood around in the cold for a long time because I forgot my keys and my husband still didn’t open the door. And then I heard: “Did you buy sausages? No? Well, go, you’re dressed anyway.” It was as if a gate had slammed inside me, I clearly understood: “Bolivar cannot stand two.” She took the child and went to her parents.
When there was nothing left before graduation, Yuri Semenovich offered a place in the theater troupe. He said that he was preparing a new repertoire for the next season and would give the main roles in four performances. They will also provide me with an apartment. Excellent prospects for a young mother with a small child. But I was eager to go to Moscow.
Apparently, the gypsy blood gave a voice. Not flattered by the promised prima status, she left one-year-old Valeria with her mom and dad and rushed to Moscow. A year later she took my daughter. Life was getting better. The main thing is to take the first step, set a clear goal and be consistent. First she received a certificate as an instructor, then as a Pilates trainer, worked in fitness clubs, and after a couple of years she began acting in films.
– Vika, for five years you were the wife of the popular actor Maxim Drozd.
They gave birth to his daughter Sophie, but the marriage collapsed. Why? – Maxim is the ideal palette of colors of life. If in the first marriage the pendulum slowly swung from plus to minus, then in the second it flickered at breakneck speed. Maxim is emotional, he has sudden mood swings. And aggressive, and loving, and hating. He has a flexible nervous system, which he himself has difficulty coping with.
I perceived him as a strong person. I needed protection and thought that I would always be safe with him. It turned out not. Before the birth of the child everything was fine, but when I became pregnant, the situation changed. To begin with, he already had three children from previous marriages, and the news did not delight him. Shortly before Sophie was born, in another moment of his emotional incontinence, my eldest daughter said: “Mom, I think we found the wrong dad.” I replied: “Sorry.” There was nothing to add.
I didn't know what to do. Pregnant, no job, no roof over your head, nowhere to go. The appearance of Sophie did not change Maxim. I was scared to be around him. One day, when my youngest daughter was not even a year old, I couldn’t stand it, I gathered the children and left. I lived with a friend for several days until I found a modest apartment - money was tight.
– Tell us about your new chosen one. I wonder how he managed to win the heart of proud Victoria?
– I wouldn’t like to say his name. We met on April 6, 2016. He saw me in the TV series Londongrad. I watched it out of nothing to do during a long flight, remembered it, and on occasion asked my friend, director Viktor Ginzburg, if he knew actress Victoria Poltorak. He replied that no. “Let's organize auditions for her. You will be silent, I will speak,” he asked. Victor, of course, did not agree for a long time, but then gave in. His assistants called me and invited me to audition. And a couple of days later they canceled it: there will be no auditions, come to Victor for his birthday.
