Borisov Yuri Alexandrovich was born in December 1992 near Moscow. The actor’s hometown was Reutovo. It was here that he first entered the theater stage. As part of the #thisisourkino project, we continue to recall our interviews with industry stars. In 2019, we made material with Yura Borisov (the TV series “Father’s Shore” and “Olga”, the films “T-34”, “Invasion”, “Kalashnikov”). And it was one of the most fun shoots!
He says, “I just want to be on set forever and not do interviews or go to premieres.” But for PEOPLETALK Yura made an exception - he talked about his ambitions, strange messages in Direct and his personal life, and at the same time boasted of his perfect abs.
“I wanted to study at Hogwarts,” Yura laughs when I ask why I chose the Shchepkinsky School. “I liked the courtyard in Sliver, it looked like Harry Potter. Well, they also gave me a dorm there, and I really wanted to leave home as soon as possible (Yura lived with his parents in Reutov - Ed.) and start an independent life.” Immediately after graduation, he was accepted into the troupe of the Satyricon Theater - Borisov was involved in the performances of Othello by Yu. Butusov and Romeo and Juliet by Konstantin Raikin.
But now he has focused on cinema and admits very honestly: “I left because the theater is not a place where you can earn money, not a place where you can work endlessly. For me, the theater is a place where you come to say something, to do something, but this is not the place where you work every day, I saw the routine, got scared and ran away.”
He has many military projects under his belt (laughs: “I probably have a potato nose, so I fit the type of Russian soldier”): “Road to Berlin”, “Old Gun”, “Young Guard”, “T-34”. I'm just trying to figure out how this whole Instagram story works. A lot of girls write to me with a variety of proposals, but I wouldn’t want it to be like this, it generally ruins everything. I hope they will still understand that there is no point in this - for every girl there is a guy created in this world, they must find each other and be together forever.”
Yura, by the way, has already found the one (during the interview he twirls a wedding ring on his finger), but he really doesn’t like to talk about his personal life.
“My wife (actress Anna Shevchuk - Ed.) and I were classmates at the theater, then we got married and now we have two daughters - Marfa and Akulina. I am very glad that there is little information about my family on the Internet, I don’t know many acting power couples who would benefit from publicity, a lot of energy flies into the void. Especially when there are children! People can write angry and hurtful things, but children have not yet developed a protective shell, and I want to protect them.”

But the main goal is one - I want to learn to see the world. Most people live like they are on a train rushing along the railway - they are glued to their phones and miss a lot of interesting things outside the window. And I want to go out at all stations.”

It seems that you are tearing yourself away from the uncomfortable chair, rising above your frozen heads.
A ladder was thrown from above. You reach for her, someone tries to hook you up. Something clicked in my ear, probably from the height.
Like an acrobat, like Puck in Shakespeare (or Debussy?..), you fly over the hall and find yourself on the stage, right at the foot of the piano...
My dad told me that when I listened to Richter for the first time, people were standing on the windowsills in the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio auditorium. There were only places left on the stage. He was about twenty minutes late and threw up his hands guiltily: “There’s something wrong with the clock...” He asked for help moving the piano and accidentally ran over his dad’s shoe with the wheel. He threw his jacket on the floor and immediately started playing... The following entry was left in Borisov’s diary: “... took a place closer, at the foot of the piano... I found myself in the grip of a strange hallucination: Richter’s entire body remained as before, and his heart and brain were transparent. The meninges... moved to the beat of the music. The lips whispered: “Now I will command!”
He commanded at every concert. At the Schubert evening in 1978 there was either oxidation of the blood or thinning of the air. My neighbor grabbed his head. And something started happening in everyone’s head: one’s eyes were flickering, another’s tears were freezing. At the finale of the G major sonata, Richter melted away the tears, sat everyone on the black wing and carried them to his lap. Everything came into balance - “you were equal to the spirit you contemplated.”
At the Beethoven concert of '77, another man commanded. It started with the exit: something clenched into a fist. Instead of a bow, two fiery glances from under his brows. When he began to play, he tore the hall into small pieces. I didn’t want to take the stairs at all—to fly over to the foot of the piano.
After one of these concerts I met pianist N, who showed a postcard received from Richter. It seemed to me that he was even teasing me with this postcard: “I asked how to play one difficult passage in a Szymanowski sonata... and he answered! He liked that I played Szymanowski. He even pointed his fingers... Imagine, he answers everyone!”
At that moment I decided to write a letter to Richter.
I tore up a bunch of paper in search of the required tone. Refusing the pompous, he chose a businesslike, unforgivably daring one. I didn’t ask, but “demanded”: to come to the Chamber Theater, where I was staging my thesis, and perform Britten’s opera. An opera written for the piano. He indicated the date of the premiere and dropped the letter into the box opposite his house.
Three days later they called me from the theater entrance: “A complete stranger... is asking you and also... what kind of pianos are there in the theater. Not otherwise, he wants to get hired as an adjuster...”
— There are no empty seats and no pianos either! - the watchman explained to the visitor.
- How can you live without a piano? Is this a musical theater?
He stood like a snowman - covered in powder, with his hat pulled down over his eyebrows.
- They promised to call me Borisov.

At these words he felt burned. The face expressed such anguish that my eyelid twitched on nervous grounds: that’s it, failure, what the hell pulled me... The smile did not appear right away - tiny, a quarter of the lip.
— The last time I played the piano was in Odessa. Tell me now...
- Twenty three.
— Around this age I played... Do you have sheet music? When all this is over (he twirled his hand strangely at his temple), I promise that I will watch the opera.
- What will it end?
- My illness is a hole in the brain!.. You have a good church here, I just came from there...
And for some reason he started singing “Tuba mirum”. The watchman did not take his eyes off Richter.
... Good modulation in F major, but what does it sound like? - salt... Whole tone! Please call Nina Lvovna in three days.
He left and took the notes.
I called both three days later and two weeks later.
“Svyatoslav Teofilovich asked me to tell you that the notes are on the music stand,” Nina Lvovna answered more kindly and kindly from time to time.
I was afraid to bother with calls and now showed up a month later. They literally attacked me:
-Where have you been? Today at eleven!
In the elevator I met the clown Nikulin, he lived in the same house on Bolshaya Bronnaya.
- On the sixteenth? To Richter?
- And how are you…
— He started playing today. So the listeners reached out. When I go to bed, he starts playing music. Say hello.
I froze at the door that led to apartment 58. I froze for air. And I had to call the apartment opposite - 59. In order not to confuse the numbers, I opened my address book... but then door 58 swung open with a whistle. Richter stood with a towel on his head.
- Imagine, I wasn’t sick anymore. And here we go again... A hole like Gogol's. Why are you late?
- (Confused) I’m five minutes early. Probably your watch...
- I don’t have a watch at all! And it never happened! But you’re still late—by twenty-five years, to be sure. I won't play well anymore!
And he made an ambiguous gesture: either to enter or not to enter - as you wish. I stepped over timidly. And he had already disappeared into the black hole of the corridor. Somewhere a door lock clicked.
I was left alone. The first thing I started looking at was the hall. The piano stood in the very center, dividing the hall into two halves. The first one is definitely light. Two heavy floor lamps with reddish-golden legs illuminated the keys. Notes were neatly scattered on the piano, with my Britten on top. For some reason this inspired me. I also remembered a candlestick made of dark bronze, an impressive cross with a chain, a rosary and a picture of a German landscape. The electronic watch - apparently Japanese - seemed to speak of a different chronology.
In the dark half of the hall one could see stains from a second piano, two green armchairs and a bookcase. The moon came through the balcony door and covered the piano with silver dust. It is unclear from which wall the sonata was coming from, so I decided that there was another room where Richter was currently studying. And he appeared from behind, completely silently - like a ghost - imperceptibly putting his watch into his jacket pocket.
- Aren't you scared? It’s strange... When they start playing there (knocks his shoe on the parquet), I can pretend that I’m playing... skimp... A pianist lives there, a very decent one... so let him play for himself and for me...
Suddenly furious, he runs up to the piano and spews out “clusters”, dissonant chords of insane volume. All over the keyboard - from bottom to top. The balcony glass shook. I have ringing in my ears and a chill down my spine. Richter listened - the sonata on the fifteenth floor fell silent.
- Yeah, finally, you were scared too - I see... When I moved into this apartment, the floors were laid with resin and eggshells. To create sound insulation. But do you know where the real isolation will be? Do you know?.. (Unexpectedly). Let's get acquainted - Glory!
And he sharply extended his iron-veined hand. I realized that I needed to “play along”:

Richter liked the answer. He immediately tore the towel off his head.
“Here’s a watch for you” (he held out the same electronic one). After half an hour, start ringing, hitting hands, and rattling! Two times for half an hour, I can’t handle any more.
He opened the notes of Schubert's a-moll sonata and asked himself: “Sonata, what do you want from me?” and... played like God.
More and more I came into a somnambulistic state, remembering how Gogol’s Piskarev bought a jar of opium, how the Persian recommended no more than seven drops of opium per glass. I sat motionless, already short with Schubert, and the portrait of a lady in a crimson hat, hanging opposite, began to disappear. I didn’t expect Richter to suddenly remember me and speak without interrupting the game:
- Well...what do you see?
I was confused - both from the vagueness of the question and from the thought that I should say something. I decided to remain silent. Then the question was repeated in an ultimatum tone:
-You really don’t see anything? Seeing music is not at all difficult - you just need to squint your eyes a little. After all, I have my own cinema... I only show the cinema with my fingers! I’m not forcing it on anyone, but you can’t stare at the sheet music and... see nothing? This is the first day - do you see? Eyes appear and light appears. A mouth appears and a word is spoken. Finally, the whole head...
Richter repeats the exposition of the first movement and the commanding tone is heard again:
- Shoulders and arms rise. With one divine hand he creates the sea, with the other he raises mountains... (Suddenly interrupts the game). Hasn't half an hour passed yet? Where's the clock?
- Only ten minutes.
“I can’t play because I’m terribly hungry.” And he starved you to death. There seems to be sausage and mustard in the kitchen. I only love our mustard, vigorous.
