In 1981, Boyko got a job at a chemical plant in the city of Rubezhnoye. He worked there for the next 18 years and went from a foreman to a general director.
In 1999, he left the company and moved to the position of head of Lisichansknefteorgsintez (one of the largest oil refining enterprises). Two years later he headed the Kremenchug Ukrtatnafta. At the end of 2002, he was appointed head of the state-owned company Naftogaz Ukraine.
Gas quarry. At his new place of work, Boyko was engaged in paying off gas debts. Yes, he was so successful that he was even awarded the title “Hero of Ukraine”.
2003 – was appointed to the post of Deputy Minister of Energy. At the same time, Boyko was able to remain as chairman of the board of Naftogaz.
However, opposition politicians accused Yuri Anatolyevich of illegal fraud. Allegedly, he had a connection with the RosUkrEnergo organization, which, a year after Boyko came to power, became a monopolist on the Ukrainian gas market.
The official owners of the company were indicated as the Russian Gazprom (50% of shares) and two businessmen from Ukraine - Ivan Fursin (5%) and Dmitry Firtash (45%).
It was with Firtash, according to the opposition, that Boyko had close contacts. Later the suspicions were confirmed. Moreover, later the men became godfathers. And during the divorce, Firtash temporarily transferred his property to Boyko, so as not to share it with his wife.
Personal life
Scott Adkins prefers not to talk about his personal life. However, journalists managed to find out that he has a common-law wife, Lisa. In an interview, the actor calls the girl his bride. In 2011, Adkins’ chosen one gave the man a daughter, Carmen Gabriela.

At that time, Boyko and Firtash were running scams with regional gas companies. So, Minister Yuri Anatolyevich brought them to bankruptcy, and Firtash bought them for next to nothing. The fraud was revealed only in 2008. According to the most conservative estimates, losses from the activities of Boyko and Firtash amounted to $2 billion.
Moreover, no one was able to present anything to Boyko, since by that time he had become a people's deputy and received immunity.
After Viktor Yanukovych won the elections, Yuri Anatolyevich returned to the ministry and took the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Energy.

Teaming up with Deputy Director of Gas of Ukraine Oksana Mass, Boyko created artificial gas demand in 7 regions of the country. Afterwards, fictitious auctions were organized at which additional gas was sold at a special, reduced price. Oddly enough, 12 companies that belonged to the notorious Sergei Kurchenko won the tenders. Afterwards, the purchased gas was sold further at the market price.
The Prosecutor General's Office has repeatedly tried to get parliamentary immunity lifted, but the case was never continued.
The next operation to launder state money was the so-called “Boiko towers”. The state corporation Chernomorneftegaz bought a set of equipment for drilling wells for $400 million. Fictitious companies from Britain and Latvia, which received the right to supply equipment, deliberately inflated the real price of drilling rigs several times. As journalists later found out, Ukraine overpaid 150 million.
The United Kingdom and Latvia have become interested in illegal activities. Law enforcement officers handed over the documents to Ukraine. However, the GPU, led by Viktor Pshonka, did not open the case.
In addition, it later became known that the Latvian citizen who sold the tower to Ukraine was awarded an order by Putin, and also organized a casino in London.
Interest in Boyko’s person intensified after Euromaidan. However, the Prosecutor General failed to achieve the lifting of immunity. In July 2020, the Ministry of Internal Affairs finally managed to open a criminal case regarding the Boyko tower. The amount of stolen budget funds amounted to $60 million.
In December 2020, Russia moved drilling rigs closer to occupied Crimea. Afterwards, the Kiev court decided to arrest the towers, but Boyko was involved in the case only as a witness.
After Euromaidan, Deputy Boyko did not leave the country. He also did not appear on the sanctions list that the Prosecutor General’s Office prepared for the EU in 2014. Moreover, Yuri Anatolyevich again went to parliamentary elections and headed the “Opposition Bloc”.

The politician openly declares the position of his party - a truce with the Russian Federation. In 2020, Boyko was seen at the economic forum in St. Petersburg, where he spoke on the topic of normalizing relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

Vera Boyko received significantly higher earnings - 8.6 million hryvnia. Of these, 1.2 million are part-time work, 2.1 million are interest on deposits, 1.7 million are dividends from Capital Real Estate.
