Both of Dasha’s grandfathers were people of art: People’s Artist of Armenia Grigory Georgievich Melik-Avakyan was involved in film directing and film dramaturgy; Vladimir Alekseevich Kalmykov, also awarded the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation, served in the Central Children's Theater (later RAMT). An outstanding actress of the CDT (RAMT) was also his wife, Dasha’s grandmother, Galina Sergeevna Suvorova. However, Daria, who grew up in an acting environment, did not even think about the stage - in her dreams she saw herself as a veterinarian, then a teacher, or a doctor.

In early childhood, Dasha was enrolled in the figure skating section, where she enjoyed training for a long time. And when the first awards were presented to the young figure skater at the first competitions, the girl fully felt what the delight of the audience was, she tasted the sweet taste of fame, and she really liked it.

Soon she had to give up the sport: at the age of 13, the girl was seriously injured. And all her thoughts switched to stage activities. She repeatedly asked her famous grandfather Vladimir to help her take part in at least one production of the Central Children's Theater. But the family believed that it was necessary to postpone immersion in the world of theater - first we had to graduate from school with good grades.

Mother - Natalya Kalmykova, theater expert. Grandfather - Vladimir Kalmykov (1927-2008), People's Artist of the Russian Federation, worked at the Russian Academic Youth Theater (RAMT). In 2003, she graduated from the acting department of the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio in Moscow (course leaders are Dmitry Vladimirovich Brusnikin and Roman Efimovich Kozak)[2].

Kalmykova’s first husband was Alexander Mokhov, who taught at the Moscow Art Theater School, where Daria studied. Mokhov was 20 years older than the young student for whom he abandoned his family. In this marriage, the actress gave birth to a son, Makar.
