Yuri Vladimirovich Kiselev
(born December 21, 1997, St. Petersburg, Russia), better known by his stage name
YurKiss
, is a Russian pop music artist.
Biography
Yuri Kiselyov was born on December 21, 1997 in St. Petersburg in the family of Russian musician and businessman Vladimir Vladimirovich Kiselyov and TV presenter Elena Yuryevna Kiselyova.
He began his career in 2012 by releasing the song “Ringing,” for which a video was shot[1]. In 2013, YurKiss took part in the International Music Festival “White Nights of St. Petersburg” (the organizer and director of the festival is YurKiss’s father, Vladimir Kiselev), in which other projects patronized by V.V. Kiselyov also took part, such as: “Earthlings”, “ Russians" and "Boycott". In the same year, YurKiss acted as the host of the festival together with Elena Sever, Yulia Kovalchuk and Dmitry Shepelev[2].
After some time, the song “Armani” was recorded, for which a video was later shot, [3] and in February 2020 he debuted with the song “Arbat”. The next song was a collaboration with Stefania Malikova - “Don’t rush to marry us”; in 2020, for this song the performers became laureates of the Golden Gramophone Award, which caused obvious bewilderment and indignation among the music community and journalists.[4][5]
In March 2020, the presentation of a video for the song “Margarita” took place at the “Royal Arbat” club (Ello.tv charts - 5th place, [ source not specified 130 days
] RU.TV - 11th place)[6][7][8][9][10].
In the same year, his “Collection of Songs” was released by the Brightstar music label. [ source not specified 130 days
] In May 2020, he presented a video for the song “We’re going to Crimea” (RU.TV chart - 12th place)[11], recorded together with his brother Vladimir, for which they were recognized as laureates of the second All-Russian MuzPlay award in the category “Best Duet”[12]. The song was also nominated for the RU.TV award (“best video filmed in Crimea”)[13][14].
In the summer of 2020, he took part in the “White Nights of St. Petersburg” festival, where he performed the songs “Drunk Moon”, “Only She”, “Who Are You” and a joint track with Vladimir “We’re going to Crimea”[15].
In January 2020, he performed at the Russian Music Festival in Abu Dhabi, where he performed the songs “Who are you” and “Only she”[16][17].
Childhood
The future pop starlet was born on December 21, 1997 in Northern Palmyra, into a family of famous and wealthy parents. His father is media oligarch and former musician of the legendary band “Zemlyane” Vladimir Kiselev. Mom is TV presenter, actress and singer Elena Severgina (North).
Yuri has a 3-year younger brother, Volodya, who also started a career in show business. He performs under the pseudonym VladiMir, but if YurKiss’s work is imbued with romance, then VladiMir’s songs are devoted more to political themes (such as the composition “Letter to the President,” in which the singer praises Vladimir Putin).
YurKiss and his brother VladiMir
Yuri grew up in a creative atmosphere, so it is not surprising that from the age of six he played the piano and performed at matinees and children's parties. At a music school he learned to play the flute and took vocal lessons. He loved listening to different music, from the Australian rock band AC/DC to the American R&B and pop singer Rihanna.
YurKiss with his family - mother and brother
The young man was also fond of sports - he played hockey and tennis very well, practiced judo, and became a candidate for master of sports in swimming. And in general education subjects at the elite school-gymnasium “Zhukovka”, which he attended, he had average grades.
YurKissa's father is media tycoon Vladimir Kiselev from the group "Zemlyane"
Criticism
The brothers YurKiss and VladiMir are the sons of businessman Vladimir Kiselyov, Elena Sever is the wife of Vladimir Kiselyov, as well as other personal production projects of Kiselyov (his own new versions formed using the names of the famous groups “St. Petersburg - 2”, “Earthlings - 2”, “ Russians - 2"), appeared on the airspace of radio and television of the media holding "Russian Media Group" ("Russian Radio", "RU.TV", "Muz TV") after V.V. Kiselyov carried out a raider takeover in 2020 "RMG", initiating a conflict of shareholders[21][22][23] A feature of the 20th anniversary of the Golden Gramophone award in 2020 was the ignoring of the event by some iconic artists (such as Grigory Leps) and the distribution of prize figurines to Kiselyov’s projects, such as YurKiss ,[24] a new version of the young composition of the group “Earthlings - 2” (which has nothing to do with the history of the famous group “Earthlings” of the 80s), a new composition of the group “Russians” and a certain group “Boycott”, which caused bewilderment and indignation in among the music community and journalists.[25][26]
Journalist Ekaterina Gordon gave a corresponding comment on this matter:[27]
— It’s funny to me whose songs are currently being played on this radio station. They have such a family tradition. Elena Sever is the wife of Vladimir Kiselev, who came to Russian Radio after the removal of the previous leadership. YurKiss and VladiMir are their sons. And Masha Weber is the wife of Kiselyov’s right hand, Sergei Bunin, who heads their board of directors. Only the general director Roman Sarkisov does not have a wife. And so she would probably spin. The entire show business is laughing out loud at the quality of the repertoire of these wives and sons. It’s just that no one dares to talk about it publicly. Everyone is afraid that they won’t be accepted on “Russian Radio” or will be taken off the air.
Many of YurKiss's clips and performances posted on YouTube have many times more dislikes than likes (the same thing happens with user comments). Well-known journalist and blogger Yuri Dud cited the example of evaluating the video recording of YurKiss’s performance at the Muz-TV Prize, about
and that YurKiss's songs remind him of
"Czechoslovak pop music of 1974"
.[28]
YurKiss fans demanded an explanation from the blogger
An open appeal from the singer YurKiss' fan club was published on the pages of a number of media outlets at the end of January. The occasion was one of the episodes of Yuri Dudya’s video blog, in which his interlocutor was Yegor Creed. In this conversation, we also discussed the work of performer Yuri Kiselev (stage name YurKiss).
The fans' main complaint against Dudu was his criticism of YurKiss's repertoire. In particular, the blogger called the song “Only She” plagiarism. In response to this, YurKiss fans rightly point out that Yuri Dud does not have a musical education, which means he cannot competently evaluate the singer’s musical abilities and the quality of his repertoire. “How can a person who doesn’t even know what a “cover” is talk seriously about music, posing as an expert?” - the fans are indignant.
More than six months have passed since the video was published, during which the YurKissa fan club tried to contact the blogger personally. The attempts were unsuccessful, so the fans decided to publish an open letter to the media. The letter demands an apology from Dudya and a refutation of the information voiced in the video.
To attract Yuri Dud's attention to the appeal, the hashtag #dudresponse is being actively promoted on the Internet. Leading media and TV channels became interested in the topic and turned to Yuri Dudu and YurKiss for additional comments.
Here is the text of the letter from the YurKissa fan club to Yuri Dudu without cuts:
“We appealed through your newspaper, desperate to be heard, unable to voice our point of view due to the liberal attitude of the crowd towards freedom of the press - pseudo-liberals do not accept the truth and are afraid to respond to a logically presented fact, cowardly hiding their heads in sand. And on top - you know what remains.
Dear Mr. Dud. We have already tried to convey to you our indignation at what you said in the interview with Creed, where for some reason, apparently having too much beer and not thinking at all about the consequences, you discredited our idol without reason. Even then, our last hopes for you, so with great aplomb claiming to be omniscient and omnivorous when opening your mouth in conversations about music, collapsed. We suddenly realized that you don’t understand a damn thing about this. By appreciating the songs of our favorite singer YurKiss, and we are his fan club, you, figuratively speaking, “farted into eternity” or, in your own language, “farted into the sky.” The song that you called the Czech pop of 1974 is, as everyone knows, the new song Lie to me, performed by Mykolas Josef at Eurovision in 2020. Probably not specialists like you, but a professional jury from four dozen European countries gave her high marks, which allowed her to reach the finals. But they forgot to ask you for your precious overblown opinion. And to top it all off, the world's second largest record company, Sony Music Entertainment, signed a contract with the Czech singer based on the results of this music competition. Be at least sometimes interested in the surrounding material, especially if you plan to talk about someone. Otherwise, they chose the caveman intellectual Creed, who is equal to you in terms of communication and demonstrated the highest level of intelligence, starting from the phraseology of the repeated “movement” and ending with the good memory of Ellochka the Ogress “ho-ho”. This is the face of liberal journalism.

Apparently, that’s why you found such a schmuck to talk to and were calm with him. It’s clear that after Dmitry Kiselev, you don’t want to be shoved into all the cracks a second time. But you didn’t learn your lesson and, in your alcoholic delirium, you also ran into YurKiss’s father, music producer and founder of the legendary group “Zemlyane” Vladimir Kiselyov. That’s definitely the problem you have with people named Kiselev. And as for your expression that “everyone is afraid of Kiselyov because he is Putin’s sidekick,” since we are not the most knowledgeable, we googled it and this is what we found. His main friends are the Rotenbergs and Kovalchuks (though we don’t know who they are), and everywhere they write only about them. Apparently, the surname Kiselev in connection with you is not very good. And when it comes to this surname, you need to stay as far away as possible, otherwise your troubles will continue. Remember how sophisticated, cynically, deeply you were fucked by Mr. Dmitry Kiselev, but apparently this did not teach you anything. Do you have at least some kind of masculine core in you? Seeing with what kindness you ate the sausage, stuffing it into your mouth, of course, gives us great doubts, but we still hope for your correct orientation. Confirm it by replying to us to this letter.
Well, as for the songs and ratings. There are no old songs and new ones, there are good and bad songs. We must tell you, dear Mr. Dud, that the greatest group of all time, The Beatles, released their first album with songs from ten years ago. What about covers of the greatest blues and rock works? Not to mention The Animals with The House of The Rising Sun, Procol Harum; Pink covered the Alicia Keys hit “Girl on fire”; Ani Lorak was remembered by her fans after performing the song “A Million Scarlet Roses” by Alla Pugacheva. And, of course, Quest Pistols.
YurKiss performed the song “Only She” beautifully. Apparently, we will have to look into your musical education. Knowing you as a “big fan of music,” we explain what a cover is—a performance of an already existing song by another singer or band. This can be either a simple “rehash” of the original or its complex processing, and this is not at all illegal. Songs are written so that all performers can sing them.

Once again, we hope that your sexuality will not give you the opportunity to blur this letter.
By the way, speaking of money and fathers, which you are hinting at, you have probably already seen the joint performances of YurKiss and Timbaland, the greatest producer, promoter and performer of our time. This is not an episode or an accident - this is a collaboration between two artists, based on professionalism and mutual respect. And we looked at all our eyes, cleared all our ears, listening to the recording of the song, where is the voice of YurKiss’s father or which of the dancers on stage is the performer’s father? But we were convinced that it was YurKiss himself and Mr. Timbaland - so try to evaluate the level of performance, maybe at least here you have enough realism and objectivity.
PS And by the way, we have very reliable information from the people whom Egor mentioned in the interview. Both his friend Evgeniy from Dubai and Pasha all confirm completely different information about this artist. And the New York photographer spoke in great detail about his human merits, and Nyusha also shared her opinion about this character. It is truly true that what he has is not a word - it is a lie. But this, apparently, will be legal proceedings. And a more objective judicial decision will be made. And today there is a very good precedent when a blogger from BadComedian was sued - and this is very pleasing.
We did not ask to post this letter on the resources of Russian Radio, so as not to start lamenting, they say, “YurKiss is the son of the owner of the radio station, Vladimir Kiselev.” But we would be grateful if all sensible journalists would follow the truth, and not for sweeping criticism, turning into a howl from the liberal crowd, a crowd gathered to the call of “they are beating ours.” And this crowd unites for “corporate” defense as soon as someone’s voice is opposed to its opinion. But we want exactly the same attitude towards our problems and therefore we are writing to you based only on facts.
We really hope that you will dissuade us of your orientation and that you still have some kind of masculine core. Answer us, and maybe publicly admit that you are not a music expert and have made mistakes. And if you are disseminating unverified information, maybe you should think about changing jobs and, like Ostap Bender, classically go to work as a house manager. Surely your market will not notice the loss of a fighter.
We hope that this correspondence will be a science for you. Although after your communication with Dmitry Kiselev and other professionals, we don’t really believe in it, but we hope. We are looking forward to your official response. If you remain cowardly silent, we will continue until you answer. After all, we are fans of YurKiss, and fans don’t abandon their idol!”
