    [edit] LiveJournal

On June 25, 2010, he announced the creation of a personal blog on LiveJournal - ya_kadyrov.[3] The blog itself was created on April 4, 2010[4], and test entries were posted on it on April 8[5]. After the announcement of the blog, two entries were posted on it: “My city is Grozny” and “I am Kadyrov,” but the first was deleted because it turned out to be plagiarism.[6] On June 27, regular writing of new posts began.

In addition, a blog_kadyrov community was created, which is currently deleted.

On the first day after opening the blog, 4,000 people visited it.[7] At the beginning of September 2010, R. Kadyrov is on the friends list of more than 2,140 LiveJournal users.

On July 11, 2011, a message appeared on Kadyrov’s blog denying the involvement of Ramzan Kadyrov’s creation in the Twitter blog.[8]

The last entry in LiveJournal dates back to November 9, 2013 and was made in defense of the famous lawyer Murad Musaev (he defended, in particular, the killer of Budanov), against whom a criminal case was initiated.

    [edit] Instagram

Participated on Instagram from the account kadyrov_95 (previously with Alyhan777).

On May 14, 2013, a photo with Bekhan Ibragimov appeared on Kadyrov’s Instagram, in which they recognized one of those convicted for participating in the fight during which football fan Yuri Volkov was killed, and according to the timing, it turned out that Ibragimov was released on parole exactly after half of his sentence had expired. [9] In the course of clarification on this matter, it turned out that the court made a decision on May 7, and according to the law, the prosecutor's office had 10 days to appeal, that is, Ibragimov should have been released only after this period had expired - at least May 17 (and taking into account holidays - May 20). However, already on May 14, Ibragimov was free.[10]

Kadyrov and the Internet (caricature by Sergei Yolkin)

On May 17, 2013, Kadyrov made a post on LiveJournal, in which he complained about his subscribers on Instagram, who criticize him for any reason. In response to criticism, the head of Chechnya threatened to delete his profile there.

On November 30, 2014, Ramzan Kadyrov shared the news on Instagram that he became the owner of the Russian smartphone YotaPhone 2, which Tina Kandelaki gave him, and called on everyone not to buy an iPhone, “supporting the American military-industrial complex,” but to “support the domestic manufacturer.” At the same time, he called not to stay on American social networks, but to switch to VKontakte (but he himself did not stop writing on Instagram, which belongs to Facebook, registered in the USA).[11]

On December 5, 2014, Kadyrov wrote on Instagram that he instructed the special forces and law enforcement agencies of Chechnya to open a criminal case against Ukrainian deputies Yuri Bereza, Andrei Levus and Igor Mosiychuk, who supported the terrorist attack in Grozny. Kadyrov also wrote that he ordered measures to be taken to detain and transport the indicated persons, as well as a certain Isa Munayev, to Chechnya.[12] This recording caused a stir in the media, and the SBU of Ukraine opened a criminal case against Ramzan Kadyrov himself.[13]

He drew attention on Instagram to the problem of rumors and gossip on social networks: “Recently, using social networks, it has become fashionable to spread fictitious stories, slander people, and try to mislead the population.”[14]

On Instagram he called the judge and prosecutor from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, who in August 2020 recognized a book with quotations from the Koran and comments, as national traitors and shaitans, and also promised to personally call them to account.[15] The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation reprimanded Kadyrov, to which he replied:[16]

There is no need to appoint shaitans to the positions of prosecutors and judges, then no one will call them that. I say again that they are devils and traitors. And those who do not consider them as such are also shaitans. Now punish me for this and make me change my mind!

In a highly critical publication of the Guardian newspaper dated September 24, 2015, Kadyrov is called the “tsar of Instagram” and, with reference to the opinion of Ilya Yashin, is accused of involvement in organizing the murder of Nemtsov. It is also stated about him that he is “vulgar, cruel and incredibly rich.” However, this article quotes Kadyrov himself on Instagram, where he denies all accusations and claims that he is being unfairly persecuted by the West:[17]

The United States and the West and their intelligence services, first of all, are trying to strike at those who are infinitely loyal [to Putin].

Guardian journalists also recall that on the day when Dadaev gave evidence, Kadyrov wrote a post on Instagram, where he made an assumption about the killer’s motives. Dadaev, he wrote, being a devout Muslim, was deeply offended by the caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad published in the Charlie Hebdo magazine, and wanted to take revenge on Nemtsov, who publicly supported the cartoonists (later, however, Dadaev retracted his testimony, saying that he gave it under torture).

In 2020, there were several high-profile incidents related to Kadyrov’s activities on Instagram. On February 1, Kadyrov posted on Instagram a photo of Mikhail Kasyanov and Vladimir Kara-Murza in an optical sight with the caption “WHO DOESN’T UNDERSTAND, WILL UNDERSTAND!”[18] Kadyrov later published a photo of himself holding a rifle, with a similar caption.[19] According to Kara-Murza, Kadyrov wrote the same phrase the day before his poisoning. Soon Mikhail Kasyanov was attacked by about 20 Chechens, and then unknown persons threw eggs at him.[20][21]

    "Daredevil"

In August 2020, a resonant analysis of Kadyrov’s Instagram appeared in The Wall Street Journal.[22][23] It states that control over publications in Kadyrov’s account is exercised by the speaker of the Chechen parliament, Magomed Daudov. Instagram has been repeatedly used to create a harsh image of Kadyrov and “suppression”: as examples, the Minister of the Chechen Republic for Physical Culture and Sports Salambek Ismailov entered the ring as Kadyrov’s sparring partner “as punishment” for the condition of the building of his department, the apology of the Krasnoyarsk City Council deputy Konstantin Senchenko, published after statements that “Chechnya lives on subsidies from Moscow,” as well as the situation with a resident of the village of Kenkhi, who criticized the activities of the head of Chechnya. But the “soft side” of Kadyrov’s image is also emerging on social networks: photographs of him with cats, horses and other animals are published, to the point that American presenter John Oliver called on viewers to help Kadyrov in searching for the missing cat.

Classifying Kadyrov’s Instagram posts, The Wall Street Journal identified the following images of the head of Chechnya: “Man of Steel”, “Military”, “Sportsman”, “Animal Lover”, “Loyal Subject”, “Daredevil” and “Valiant Leader”.

On December 23, 2020, Ramzan Kadyrov’s Instagram account was blocked, and his Facebook account was also blocked. The media linked the blocking with the addition of Kadyrov to the US sanctions list (“Magnitsky List”)[24]. In response, he announced the creation of a new Chechen social network, Mylistory, “which is in no way inferior to overseas ones”[25]. Following R. Kadyrov, many of his closest team members created accounts in Mylistory—for example, Magomed Daudov, known as Lord[26].

In November 2020, the page was unblocked, after which Kadyrov said in a telegram that “justice has triumphed” and published several new posts on Instagram. The most resonant was the first post, which was a kind of ode to the pistol:

How much I have to tell you, my friend. It's like it's just you and me in this silence. How many difficult years have we lived with you? How many well-aimed leaden “words” you said to enemies and scoundrels, defending my honor, dignity and life. You became my brother, devoted and silent. Loyal and selfless. As long as I remember being smart, you have been with me.

Soon Kadyrov's account was blocked again.[27]

A representative of the social network explained to BuzzFeed that Kadyrov’s account “was restored by mistake and has now been deleted.”[28]

Despite the blocking of the main page, Kadyrov publishes his video messages on the “Chechnya Today” Instagram chechnyatoday_95. In June 2020, commenting on the conflict around a road sign on the border of Chechnya and Dagestan, he emphasized that offensive statements addressed to the residents or leadership of Chechnya will be punished (by concept, not by law):[29][30]

Watch your tongue, watch your fingers, otherwise we will break your fingers and tear out your tongue. We will not leave a single provoking comment. You know me well.

    [edit] VKontakte

At the beginning of 2020, on the wave of patriotism and anti-Western sentiment in Russia, Ramzan Kadyrov decided to start using domestic social networks and registered on VKontakte. The fact that the page is official is indicated by the presence of a check mark next to the name at the top of the page.

At the moment (as of September 16, 2020 18:52) 942 posts have been published on Ramzan Kadyrov’s wall, available for commenting. It was in the comments that a real fight broke out, the most active in which were Ukrainian nationalists, Internet jihadists (supporters of terrorist groups such as ISIS, the Caucasus Emirate, etc.), liberals and Russian nationalists opposing Putin, who decided to tell Ramzan Akhmatovich everything that they think about him.

In connection with this, the following cruel joke spread on Twitter:

If you are rude to Kadyrov on VKontakte, the guards will, out of habit, burn down the houses of everyone who is your friend.

    Head of the Chechen Republic

At the beginning of 2007, Putin signed a decree appointing Ramzan Akhmatovich as acting president of Chechnya in connection with Alkhanov’s request for early resignation. Parliament almost unanimously (56 votes out of 58) approved Kadyrov’s candidacy

    Inauguration of Ramzan Kadyrov (2017)
    Inauguration of Ramzan Kadyrov (2017)

After the inauguration, the new head of the republic began to solve the most pressing problems. He formed his team from loyal people - relatives, fellow villagers and former separatists, like himself, who went over to the side of Russia. Over the course of a year, he managed to significantly reduce the number of terrorist attacks (by almost 73 percent), reduce the number of kidnapping cases by 5 times (from 187 to 35) and generally stabilize the situation in the region.

However, along with positive projects (large-scale construction, revival of a complex of service structures, economic restoration), the leader of the Chechen Republic has more than once introduced controversial practices. For example, the so-called collective punishment, when the houses of innocent relatives of militants were burned.

How Grozny changed under the Kadyrovs In addition, human rights activists have repeatedly accused fighters close to the president of human rights violations, intimidation, illegal detentions, beatings, torture and murders of citizens. According to them, as of 2008, 15 cases of such repression resulted in the death of the victims.

Among the controversial initiatives of the head of the Chechen Republic was also the receipt of additional funds for construction programs (financed mainly from the budget of the Russian Federation) through forced deductions from the salaries of public sector workers to the fund named after. A. Kadyrov.

Being a deeply religious person, the young Chechen leader strongly supported the strengthening of Islam in the republic. He spoke in support of Sharia injunctions and norms. Under him, schools of hafiz (Muslims who memorize the Koran by heart), an Islamic medicine clinic, the Heart of Chechnya mosque, and the Russian Islamic University were opened in Grozny. Kunta-Haji.

    Mosque "Heart of Chechnya"

The leader of the Czech Republic became the owner of many honorary titles and awards. Among them are the Badge of Honor “Peace and Creation”, the Golden Star “Honor and Dignity” with the title “Honored Defender of Human Rights”, the Diamond Order of the National Fund of the Russian Federation “Public Recognition”.

In 2009, the 33-year-old president received the rank of police major general. In 2010, he sent a proposal to parliament to change the name of the first person of the Chechen Republic, subsequently calling him the head or leader of the republic. That same year, he said in an interview with Newsweek (USA) that he would like Putin to remain president indefinitely.

In 2011, President Dmitry Medvedev appointed Ramzan Kadyrov as head of the Chechen Republic, this time the term of office was not four years, but five years. In 2012, the government brought back direct elections, with regional parliaments given the right to choose whether the new head of a constituent entity will be elected by universal suffrage, or whether the regional parliament will elect him. The Chechen authorities have decided to return popular elections.

    With Dmitry Medvedev

During the same period, the Chechen leader expressed his attitude towards beards, saying that he did not intend to fight their growth. Many Chechens wear a beard along with the pyas headdress to emphasize their religious affiliation.

A year later, Ramzan raised the issue of establishing an administrative border with Ingushetia, believing that the Sunzhensky district and some parts of the Malgobeksky district belonged to Chechnya. The cession of oil-bearing lands, enshrined in the border agreement signed later, caused a number of protests: in Nazran, St. Petersburg, and Magas.

In 2013, the leader of the Chechen Republic awarded the status of an honorary citizen of the republic to the French actor Gerard Depardieu, who had previously received Russian citizenship, and presented him with a five-room apartment in Grozny.

Depardieu is an honorary citizen of Chechnya

At the same time, there was another peak of tension between Kadyrov and another prominent politician, Vladimir Zhirinovsky. The leader of the LDPR, known for scandalous statements, this time proposed to fence Chechnya with barbed wire in order to stop the influx of migrants, and at the same time limit the birth rate in the republic by introducing a fine for the birth of a third child. Kadyrov called these recommendations “fascist” and their author “pathetic and insignificant.” Zhirinovsky disgraced himself with his statements about Chechnya. In 2014, the head of the republic became a member of the State Council under the President of the Russian Federation. Against the backdrop of the conflict that began in eastern Ukraine, he acknowledged the participation of detachments of Chechen fighters in the ranks of those who fought against the armed forces of Ukraine, but emphasized that there were no regular units there. However, for supporting the actions of the separatists, he was subsequently included in the sanctions lists of the EU, USA, Switzerland and Canada.

The possible participation of “Kadyrov’s men” in hostilities in Ukraine was reported in the report “Putin. War,” the collection of information for which opposition politician Boris Nemtsov began, but did not have time to complete. In February 2020, Nemtsov was shot dead. Ruslan Mukhudinov was named as the customer and organizer of the murder, and the perpetrator Zaur Dadaev received 20 years in prison. There is an opinion in opposition circles that Kadyrov ordered the murder. The head of Chechnya himself called the murder of Nemtsov a terrible crime.

In the same year, the head of the Chechen Republic came up with the idea of creating a short film about ancient Chechen traditions, “The Magic Comb,” and starred in the central role. Moreover, he flatly refused to use doubles, he fought with swords, rode a horse, and shot with a bow. His hero, according to legend, won all the competitions, received the “comb of happiness” and presented it to his beloved.

Filming of the film “The Magic Comb” In March 2020, Levada Center sociologists released survey data on attitudes towards the Chechen leader. It turned out that the majority of Russians (55 percent) trust him.

In the same year, the head of the republic initiated a large-scale rally in the capital against caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad. With this event, he responded to the calls of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and the majority (2/3 according to the survey) of Echo of Moscow listeners to publish cartoons of the Messenger of Allah in all publications (after the attack by Islamic militants on the editorial office of the French weekly Charlie Hebdo and the murder of 12 employees).

Rally against the publication of images of Muhammad

At the beginning of 2020, the Chechen leader called on citizens to treat opposition figures as “traitors and traitors to Russia.” In support of this initiative, the Union of Trade Unions of the Chechen Republic organized a rally “Our strength is in unity.” About 1 million people took part in the action with posters and slogans containing recommended appeals (examples of which were distributed on the Internet).

A week later, Kadyrov published a video on his Instagram in which Mikhail Kasyanov and Vladimir Kara-Murza Jr., who were in political opposition to the leadership of the Russian Federation, found themselves under the gun of a sniper rifle - the reticle of an optical weapon (in the form of a cross) was aimed at them. The caption under the publication read “Those who don’t understand will understand.” Subsequently, this photo took second place in the rating of political memes according to the version (the first was the phrase of Dmitry Medvedev, said during a visit to Crimea - “there is no money, but you hang in there”).

    Scandalous photo from Kadyrov's Instagram

The opposition perceived this post as a threat falling under Article 277 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Encroachment on the life of a civil servant”). And recent statements and a rally make it possible to apply Article 282 (“Inciting hatred or enmity…”) and Article 280 (“Public calls for extremist activity”). But the FSB refused to initiate a criminal case against them. The head of Chechnya called the reaction of his opponents “incessant barking.” To strengthen his power, he began to nominate only his closest relatives to key positions. In particular, one of his nephews (Yakub Zakriev) at the age of 26 took the chair of the first deputy prime minister of the Chechen Republic, a year later the second nephew (28-year-old Idris Cherkhigov) became the head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Grozny, Khas-Magomed Kadyrov, and the head of the Drug Control Department, Gairbek Delimkhanov, had close family ties with the leader of the Chechen Republic. The post of deputy head of the Kurchaloevsky district administration was taken by 21-year-old Khamzat, the son of his late brother Zelimkhan.

In 2020, Ramzan Akhmatovich presented a series of short films from the series “Who does not understand, will understand,” which he personally worked on. One of them, “The Legend of Chaborz,” told the story of a gladiator who arrived in the Caucasus from Rome. The roles were performed by athletes of the Akhmat fight club and artists of the dance group. The premiere screening of the film took place in October before the start of the Grand Prix Akhmat mixed martial arts competition.

The tournament itself, organized on the eve of the inauguration of the head of the region and his birthday, ended in a serious scandal. The fact is that during the event, children's fights, called demonstration ones, were held with the participation of Ramzan Kadyrov's sons, ten, nine and eight years old. All the boys won. One of the fights ended with the child being knocked out; in the other two there were blows to the head and face. These beatings were broadcast on Match.TV throughout the country.

    Fighting sons of Kadyrov

The head of the MMA Union, Fedor Emelianenko, was outraged by what happened. He stated that the battles were not actually demonstrations, but real ones. The violation was the admission of participants under 12 years of age to the fights, the lack of protective helmets, pads and other special equipment. Criticism of the four-time world champion provoked harsh statements against him from representatives of the Chechen elite, including the cousin of the Chechen writer, State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov.

Kadyrov had a conflict with Fedor Emelianenko

A year later, Kadyrov distinguished himself with a controversial interview on the US sports channel HBO. At first, the politician called “shaitans” and cursed Chechen homosexuals who told how they were tortured in their homeland, and also offered to take them out of the territory of the republic. He then described what would happen if someone dared to attack the Russian Federation. The unceremonious phrase from this description (“we will turn the whole world upside down - we’ll put it in cancer”) was quoted by many publications. Kadyrov: “We’ll turn the whole world upside down, turn it into cancer” In the same year, a new survey by Levada Center showed an increase in respect and sympathy for the head of the Chechen Republic among Russian citizens. The first of these indicators increased over the year by five percent (from 10 to 15), the second by three (from 7 to 10).

    [edit] Incidents

[edit] Kadyrov - candidate for President of Russia 2012

    Kadyrov at work.
On the eve of the 2012 election campaign, during preparations for the elections of the future president of Russia, the website kadyrov2012.org appeared on the Internet, presenting Ramzan Kadyrov as one of the presidential candidates.

Despite the fact that the site is made quite professionally, it is still a fake, created for subtle trolling.

Signs that this site is fake:

    1. During the congress of the United Russia party in September 2011, Dmitry Medvedev (then the President of the Russian Federation) announced the transfer of presidential powers to Vladimir Putin (at that time the head of the United Russia party). Obviously, Vladimir Putin, as the future president, does not intend to share the presidency with Kadyrov.
    2. Ramzan Kadyrov himself, for all his publicity, did not give any information on this topic.
    3. The dubious reputation of Ramzan Kadyrov in Russian society - few are ready to see in the role of the President of Russia a man who fought on the side of the militants during the First Chechen Campaign.

Also, one of the indirect signs of a fake is the date of purchase of the domain kadyrov2012.org

, the domain was purchased on February 11, 2010[31], which allows us to conclude that this is a pre-prepared provocation.

However, at the beginning of 2012, site traffic increased significantly. Among the site’s visitors were both ordinary Internet hamsters who asked Ramzan Kadyrov vital questions in the comments, and numerous trolls.

    [edit] Football scandal

On March 17, 2013, Ramzan Kadyrov again gained fame thanks to his scandalous outburst at the Terek-Rubin match in the city of Grozny, when, due to dissatisfaction with Terek’s play, he shouted into the microphone the phrase “The referee is corrupt, you’re a goat.”

This event was covered in all regional and federal media, including Channel One, and videos were posted on YouTube.

Later, Ramzan Kadyrov admitted in an interview that it was him and apologized to the entire football community, but noted that he did not regret what he had done, since he believed that referee Mikhail Vilkov unfairly issued a yellow card to the player of the Grozny football club “Terek” Rizvan Utsiev, from -for a biased attitude towards this club.

The judge himself refused to comment on this incident.

[edit] Scandal with the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Some find Kadyrov's relationship with security forces difficult.
In April 2020, at the board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Chechnya, Kadyrov said that his subordinates could shoot to kill at law enforcement officers in other regions if they did not coordinate their actions with the government of Chechnya. The statement was made after an operation on April 19, during which representatives of the Stavropol police killed Dzhambulat Dadaev, suspected of causing serious injuries, in Grozny. It is reported that Dadaev fired at security forces and tried to ram their official vehicle with a car.

A video of Kadyrov's speech was published on the official website of the Chechen television and radio.[32]

Kadyrov's statement caused a storm of disapproval in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which described Kadyrov's words as “unacceptable.”[33]

    [edit] Scandalous wedding

He spoke out in support of the sensational wedding of 17-year-old Luiza Goilabieva and 47-year-old (at first they wrote that he was 57 years old) head of the Nozhai-Yurtovsky district police department Nazhud Guchigov, in particular, he called it on Instagram “the wedding of the millennium.”

He held an educational conversation with residents of the republic on the issue of ridiculing this wedding on WhatsApp and invited men to take their women away from WhatsApp.[14]

[edit] Yashin's report and possible departure

On February 23, 2020, Ilya Yashin presented his report “Threat to National Security,” dedicated to criticism of Ramzan Kadyrov and the political system he built in Chechnya. In the report, Yashin recalls a number of murders of Kadyrov’s enemies, accuses the Chechen leadership of embezzling budget funds with the help of the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation, and also states that Kadyrov poses a threat to national security, having actually built a system in Chechnya independent of Russian laws. On the same day, Ramzan Kadyrov gave an interview to RSN, in which he stated that his duty as head of Chechnya had been fulfilled and he no longer wanted to hold this position, although if the appropriate command came from the president, he would remain.[34]

    [edit] Gays in Chechnya

We never had them among the Chechens. Unless we are talking about those who, not being Chechens, call themselves that way in order to get the opportunity to end up in the West.

Our President spoke well about the “blue coats”, warning Ukraine about deep friendship with Europe. We don't have those![35]

    [edit] Apologies to Kadyrov

Apologies to Kadyrov - numerous videos in which a person or group of people who, in the opinion of the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov , insulted him, apologize to him and express regret about previously spoken words or completely renounce these words.

Social networks are a disease worse than drug addiction. But we do not call for completely abandoning social networks. We want to use them correctly. I want the Chechen people to have everything good, and to eradicate the bad.

    [edit] About him

He carefully documents his life on Instagram - he has 1.2 million followers on the social network, whom he indulges in photos of himself at prayer, in the gym, at official meetings and at friendly parties. All his friends, as one, flaunt excellent biceps. Each photo is accompanied by a long text in which Ramzan shares his views on modern problems. He is vulgar, selfish, cruel, adored by the people and fabulously rich: a kind of cross between Uday Hussein and the rapper Notorious BIG However, Putin is not at all worried about this.

[Ramzan Kadyrov] is a real strong man who is responsible for his words

    Kadyrov's 18-year-old wife

Not so long ago, Kadyrov was accused of having a secret second wife. According to rumors, her name is Fatima and she is only 18 years old. Allegedly, there has not yet been an official ceremony, and it is not possible to legally formalize the wedding according to Russian laws. But all this gossip fades after Ramzan Kadyrov’s tender words about his legal wife Medni: “If I didn’t love, I would never have allowed her to have children. I love my wife very much. It’s not customary for us to say this. I respect her very much... Love is not about going to the cinema or a restaurant together, taking your women out naked so that everyone can see what she is like. This is not love".
