Childhood dreams
In February 1973, a daughter was born into the Grinev family, who lived in Kazan. The girl was named Irina. Her father was a military man, and her mother was a local theater actress, very passionate about her profession. Unfortunately, soon after the birth of the child, the woman had to leave the theater. But mother and daughter often attended performances, never missing a single premiere.
Despite the fact that the family lived quite modestly, the former actress’s wardrobe always included a pair of high gloves and an expensive hat. In Ira’s memory, the image of her mother as a chic lady, dressed to the nines, was forever preserved. Seeing a role model, little Grineva decided to devote her life to serving Melpomene.
While still at school, the girl began attending a drama club. When she was in second grade, representatives of the Ballet Academy came to Kazan. Vaganova. Irina, who had never danced before, decided to try her hand. She came to the screening in ordinary winter pants, while the other children were dressed in special gymnastic leotards. As it turned out, Ira had great dancing abilities. At the competitive selection, she easily beat all her competitors and became the only girl from the school to enter the ballet class.
But a brilliant dance career did not happen. Firstly, the parents were not ready to send their beloved daughter to a boarding school located in another city. Secondly, the girl did not realize her potential. But most importantly, Ira dreamed of the theatrical stage. As she grew older, she fell in love with Oleg Yankovsky and in her teenage girlish dreams she imagined becoming a great artist and marrying him.
The daughter’s desire to make a career in the theater was understood by her parents. No one was surprised when, after graduating from school, Ira packed her things and left for Moscow to fulfill her dreams.

Actress Irina Grineva
Unfortunately, the first attempt was unsuccessful, and it was not possible to get into a Moscow university. Not wanting to waste a year, Irina submitted documents to the Yaroslavl State Theater Institute and was successfully enrolled in the first year. After graduating from university, the young actress refuses the assignment and again goes to conquer Moscow. This time the girl enrolls in an expressive plastic course at the School of Dramatic Art, where the famous master of acting, Anatoly Vasiliev, teaches.
First disappointments and a happy accident
Young Grineva submitted documents to all theater universities in the capital. The girl was sure that she would definitely become a student. In her thoughts, she already saw herself as a performer of leading roles in the best theaters in Moscow. And the fact that during the breaks between exams she had to while away the time at the Kazansky railway station did not bother the ambitious applicant at all.
But Grinev was disappointed. She, smart and beautiful, was not accepted either into GITIS, or into the Moscow Art Theater, or into “Sliver”. Someone advised her to submit documents to the theater institute in Yaroslavl, since the enrollment of students there had not yet ended. Irina jumped at this opportunity. But another failure awaited her there. It seemed that the world had collapsed and that dreams would remain unfulfilled. The experiences were so strong that the girl burst into tears right under one of the stairs of the institute.
Education and mental anguish
Study, classes, rehearsals began. It seemed that the cherished goal was getting closer. But the soul of the young actress demanded not only fame and applause. She strove for humility, peace and faith. In her second year at the institute, Irina decided to renounce worldly life, entered a monastery and was preparing to take monastic vows. But after thinking again about her place in life, assessing the situation and understanding herself, Grineva nevertheless returned to her studies and began to realize her God-given talents on stage. She later admitted that if she had two lives, she would definitely spend one of them in a monastery.
After graduating from the theater institute in Yaroslavl, Grineva goes to the capital. There, under the guidance of G. Abramov, she comprehends the “language of movements” in the plastic dance studio of the A. Vasiliev School of Dramatic Art. Teachers, as in childhood, note her abilities and even predict success in the dance field . But Irina was absolutely confident in the correctness of her choice of profession.
Roles in theater and cinema
The first theatrical production with Grineva’s participation was V. Ageev’s play “The Hopscotch Game.” For her role, the artist received an award, which was awarded in 1995. Since 1998, Irina has been serving in the theater. Stanislavsky, where she played in many productions. Here are just a few of them:
- "Boris Godunov";
- "Masquerade";
- "Twelfth Night";
- "Antigone";
- "Salome";
- "Millionaire"
- "Don Juan".
In 1998, the series “Impostors” was released on television, thanks to which the name of Irina Grineva became known to the general public. The actress gained popularity. To date, she has played about 40 roles in films and TV series, such as:
- "Railway station";
- "Winter spring";
- "Simple Story";
- "Touch the Sky";
- "Vacation of Love";
- “Reluctant Mom”;
- "Miracle in Crimea".
Grineva herself most enjoyed starring in the films “Only You,” “The Year of the Goldfish,” and “A Simple Story.” But still, the actress treats cinema as an entertainment genre, and her love entirely belongs to the theater, where she approaches the performance of each role extremely responsibly and tries to “bring her own note.”
Irina Grineva: “We live the way we dreamed of”
She is a subtle and mysterious nature, at times as if detached. She has been writing fairy tales for many years. She does not consider herself a beauty expert, at some point in the interview she even became worried: “I’m probably not your heroine, I rarely go to beauty salons...” but the actress Irina Grineva has her own formula for youth - love for the profession and a special philosophy of life...
Inessa TRAVNIKOVA (“Beauty & Health”): Irina, have you more often played beautiful or ugly heroines? Which do you prefer? IRINA GRINEVA:
I don't care.
The main thing is that it is a deep role and good material. “K&Z”: What is a handsome person for you?
I.G.: A handsome person is a beautiful person. First of all, an interesting personality, a person you will never forget. You are attracted by the light from within, a certain strength and charm of the individual. And a person’s appearance and style are a reflection of his inner life, culture, and character. I love the beauty and voice of Maria Callas. Ulyana Lopatkina, when I look at her, it seems to me that she is painted. I like Marlene Dietrich, her steely beauty that she designed like an artist. I love the aristocratic beauty of Romy Schneider. My mother was a real beauty. Of the men: Pasternak, Mayakovsky, Marlon Brando, Academician Likhachev and my husband, of course (Irina Grineva’s husband is the famous figure skater Maxim Shabalin. - Ed.).
“K&Z”: Psychologists recommend that parents often tell their children, especially girls, how beautiful they are. Do you agree with this? I.G.:
What for?
If a girl is beautiful, everyone can see it. Just cultivate the ego, and then a kind of Mata Hari will grow up... Beauty is always in a privileged position. In Rus', when a beautiful child was born, he, on the contrary, was kept in a black body in order to eventually raise him as a human being. “K&Z”: Do you remember being a teenager?
How was the transitional age? I.G.: I don’t even remember. There may have been some period of street freedom, but it was very short. I lived the dream of entering a theater institute.
“K&Z”: Lyudmila Gurchenko once said that luck, appearance, and then talent are important for an actress. Controversial statement? I.G.:
Probably Lyudmila Markovna was right.
There are just different directions. To become a film star, you need beauty and luck, as well as strong character and will. For example, Marilyn Monroe, Claudia Cardinale, Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Angelina Jolie, Monica Bellucci - the beauty of these women is mesmerizing, they set the style, we are interested to know about their personal lives, but I have never cried from their acting. To imprint yourself in time as a dramatic actress, talent is the first thing. For example, Anna Magnani, Faina Ranevskaya, I won’t say that they are beauties, and luck was not on their side. Anna Magnani began acting at the age of 42. Ranevskaya doesn’t have a single big dramatic role in films; we fell in love with her in episodic roles and will never forget her. There is a play “And tomorrow there will be silence”, every time I watch it I cry. This is talent, it comes from heaven. Something that cannot be explained and does not need to be replicated. “K&Z”: When entering the theater institute, did you rely on your own attractiveness?
I.G.: And I didn’t have any appearance. Having arrived from Kazan to Moscow at the age of 16, I looked like Pippi Longstocking - very thin, only knees and nose, and two thin ponytails on my head.
“K&Z”: Does it happen that people notice you and invite you to appear in film, noting your appearance first? I.G.:
Most often people are not invited because of their appearance. The acting assistants assigned me to the “non-everyday heroine” section, and there wasn’t much material for such a role.
“K&Z”: Do you know the feeling of low self-esteem? If yes, then tell us how you worked towards “self-love”. I.G.:
In the direction of self-love, low self-esteem is the way forward, and high self-esteem is the way back.
In general, this American philosophy is not close to me: “Be confident in yourself and you will achieve a lot.” An absolutely confident and self-satisfied person is a narrow-minded person. Any artist doubts himself, and this gives him movement forward. Self-love is also an ambiguous concept. And why, exactly, should we love ourselves? For what kind of feats? Loving yourself means loading yourself up with work on yourself. We do not come into this world perfect, we only have the opportunity. “K&Z”: Being beautiful is also work on yourself.
What are you doing for this? I.G.: By and large, nothing. Sometimes I go to beauty salons on the advice of friends. In general, it seems to me that it is a myth that you can deceive everyone and be forever young. And also good business. My grandmother just smeared her face, for some reason, with Vaseline, and made masks from mayonnaise - she looked gorgeous. How a person lives is how he looks.
“K&Z”: Are you still preparing for the red carpet - tidying up your face, doing your hair, choosing an outfit, that is, trying to look more attractive? I.G.:
Of course. If I have time, the day before I spend the whole day in the beauty salon; if not, I do my makeup in the car in ten minutes. The main thing in this matter is to choose a beautiful dress and diamonds.
“K&Z”: Do you use cosmetics? I.G.:
Certainly. I use Valmont or Sisley creams. I make “magic” face masks, which are sent to me by cosmetologist from Kyiv Diana Mikhailova. Hair shampoo and mask “Kerastas”.
“K&Z”: By what principle do you base your nutrition? Have you ever been on a diet? I.G.:
I lose weight if I feel like I've gained weight. I have performances where I dance, for example, “Dancing” and “Ornithology” directed by Vladimir Ageev, I need to be in shape. I stop eating and sit on kefir for two or three days. I have enough physical activity at work.
“K&Z”: Today during our photo shoot you sat in the saddle. Have you ever ridden a horse before? I.G.:
Yes, during the filming of Nana Dzhoradze’s film “Only You” and with Sabit Kurmanbekov in the film “Seker”. But I didn’t have the chance to seriously master horse riding and get to know the horse better.
“K&Z”: What other unusual activity did you have to learn thanks to the acting profession? I.G.:
Dancing on pointe, driving a car without a driver's license, playing the guitar, playing the piano, speaking French without knowing French, singing.
“K&Z”: Among your creative hobbies is painting.
How did you start drawing? I.G.: I didn’t do painting, I suddenly started drawing... When a void formed: I had no job, money, friends - they all disappeared somewhere. Summer, half-empty Moscow, heat... I was reading Japanese poetry by Basho in a rented apartment in Belyaevo, the gray wallpaper was pressing on me, and I painted all the walls in the Japanese style. Multi-colored birds, girls, boys in kimonos, sunset, sky - it turned out beautiful. Even the hostess didn’t swear afterwards. Later I bought pastels, ink, an easel and began to paint. Now I'm drawing designs for my fairy tales.
“K&Z”: Nowadays it’s very fashionable to have your own blog on the Internet, and you keep a traditional diary. Why don't you share your thoughts with the world? In my opinion, you have something to tell him... I.G.:
My diary is not like a weekly journal. I write down my thoughts there or thoughts I borrowed from books I read. Many notes are related to the profession. Sometimes these are plots for my fairy tales. I'm trying to reflect the passage of time, events... to organize my life. If you post your thoughts on the Internet, it means you enter even more into the hustle and bustle, and this is no longer a diary. A diary is something personal, mysterious.
“K&Z”: Many actors record their observations of people in order to use this when working on a role. Do you do this too? I.G.:
No. I didn’t understand this back in college: the task was to go out into the street, find an interesting person and show him off. In the “observations” section, everyone usually showed some sick people. Declan Donnellan, an adherent of the Stanislavsky school, also suggested going out into the street and finding his character there when working on Boris Godunov. So you could search until retirement. It was always easier for me to invent and compose. In life, meeting an interesting person who would make a strong artistic impression is a rarity. If I needed some mystical weirdos, I looked at the albums of Bosch and Munch.
“K&Z”: What music do you listen to and what do you read? I.G.:
Very diverse, for example... Estamps of Claude Debussy performed by Walter Gieseking, “Tristan and Isolde” by Wagner, “Peer Gynt” by Grieg, I love Bach.
My favorite contemporary composer is Bishop Hilarion Alfeev's St. Matthew Passion and Philip Glas. I like the British band Radiohead, Nick Cave, and now I listen to Marlene Dietrich for work. The last book I read was “Unholy Saints.” Recently I took with me on vacation the poems of Mikhail Kuzmin and Goethe’s Faust - I watched the film by Alexander Sokurov and wanted to re-read it. “K&Z”: What are the critical roles that can be considered your professional breakthrough?
I.G.: Probably, almost every role in the theater was a breakthrough for me. Most of my works are roles from the world repertoire, which in itself is very responsible. Plus, you bear the burden of remembering the many options you have seen played by other talented actresses. The role of Ophelia was difficult for me, especially the madness scene. I wanted to open the image with a special key, to add my own note. For me, it’s a samurai act to play the scene of Nina’s death in “Masquerade,” I played with Sergei Shakurov, it was one of my first big roles. And director Viktor Shamirov gave me this scene at his mercy. He said: “I directed the whole performance, but this scene is yours, there will be a rearrangement, you will wear a beautiful dress, heavenly music will sound, and you “die” as you want.” At the premiere, I thought I was really dying. The role of Masha in Three Sisters was also a breakthrough for me. I saw so many Mash's and couldn't find mine. Declan said: “I’m not going to surprise anyone with the direction. Yes, you are in a black dress, with a book in your hand, reading, like all Mashas on all stages of the world, “There is a green oak at Lukomorye...” I want you to live this story - that’s all.” The premiere is almost here and everyone seems to be happy with me, but I don’t feel any strength or breakthrough. The premiere was in Paris. The day before my flight, I was attacked in the entrance of my house, my bag was taken away, and my nose was broken. Fly to Paris in the morning. Replacement is not possible. I have a swollen lip, a bruise, and I don’t even have time to evaluate what happened. I'm flying. Premiere. Paris. The hall is full, in the front row is my favorite actress Juliette Binoche, and I have a bruise that can’t be made up, a swollen lip, and I’m playing Masha. I feel deeply unhappy, but I’m not afraid of anything... Suddenly some kind of strength appeared in me, I wasn’t worried like everyone else before the premiere... I went on stage, and everything suddenly went well, I was missing exactly this strength. Masha is a desperate nature, with a challenge. At the premiere there was a scene - a farewell to Vershinin. It turned out to be poignant and tragic. This is how the role developed. Also the role of Salome, I’m still getting into it. The role of Tanya in Ornithology was easy for me, but she is my favorite, and I consider her a breakthrough. Well, of course, the turning point for me was the role of Marina Mnishek in Boris Godunov. Moscow recognized me, they started talking about me, they started writing about me, inviting me to the cinema.
“K&Z”: These are all theatrical roles. Why don't you talk about cinema? I.G.:
In cinema, I did not have roles of the same magnitude as in the theater.
“K&Z”: But you have complex roles in the films “The Year of the Goldfish”, “A Simple Story”, “Only You”. I.G.:
Yes, I love these roles and the directors with whom I worked in these films. But how can I tell you, this is still an entertaining movie, it’s still lighter.
“K&Z”: Share your story of meeting your husband? I.G.:
Before we met, neither Maxim nor I knew anything about each other - I that he was an outstanding figure skater, and he that I was an actress. We were introduced to each other at a film premiere by my friend Euclid Kyurdzidis. I asked several times what the name of my new friend was: “Maxim, right? Need to remember. That’s my brother’s name.” And then she ran away. We didn’t cross paths for a long time, and when we met again in a common company, I began to get to know him again. Maxim says that he encountered such inattention for the first time in his life. But then one fine day at a dinner where our friends gathered, I was seated next to him. I suddenly saw him for real and became very worried. I thought: “Well, we’ve arrived.” You know how it happens: a second - and you’re already in love.
“K&Z”: Your family life with Maxim is short - two years, and you must remember your honeymoon. What was it like? I.G.:
We went to the south of France, there is a place called Boulho, near Monaco. I have always dreamed of driving in an open-top car, somewhere on the Côte d'Azur, with my beloved, always wearing a straw hat with a large brim so that the wind is in my face, remember, like in the movie “Slave of Love.”
“K&Z”: Did you manage to make your dream come true?
I.G.:
Yes. I even bought a special hat. I think that dreams must be realized so that they do not lie as a sad burden on the heart.
“K&Z”: What female emotions are important to you in marriage? Passionate love, care and attention from a husband, financial aspect? I.G.:
Feel loved. This entails all aspects.
“K&Z”: What kind of mutual exchange occurs between you, people of creativity and sports, such different professions, in terms of habits, character traits, worldview? I.G.:
Our professions are creative and very similar, we both go out in front of the audience - Maxim on the ice, me on the stage. This requires work and special courage. Well, maybe, thanks to Maxim, I became more collected, punctual, and practically stopped being late. As an athlete, he knows how to organize time. Completely German precision, life according to plan scares me. It seems to me that there should be improvisation in life. Very specific people even scare me. I’m not interested in being with them, and they’re not interested in me, I love a little bit of sloppiness, but it’s present in my husband.
“K&Z”: Do you think it’s better to live by feelings or logic? I.G.:
I still don’t know what comes first – feeling or logic.
And is it good to trust your feelings... Sometimes I am guided by an inner voice, a feeling... I remember I came to Moscow to show myself to Oleg Tabakov, I walked down the street and realized that I would not go to him. I turn around, go to the station and go home. It's impossible to explain. And yet I ask myself what would have happened if I had acted differently then. Or I come to the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya for employment, I walk in, and it smells of soup - and everything is not mine, the walls are not the same, everything is not the same, I turn around and leave. And when I first entered the Vasiliev Theater, then it was on Povarskaya, you first had to dial the correct code, then you go down the stairs, take off your shoes, as if you were entering a temple. Wooden floor, snow-white walls, crystal chandeliers, somewhere in the distance I hear Don Juan’s aria, young men in white kimonos pass by me, hurrying to a wushu lesson, and everything is somehow mysterious, and I understand that I don’t want to leave here... “K&Z”: It’s probably like being in your own home, cozy and harmonious... Is it true that you love antique things?
I.G.: I love beautiful things with history. I have a porcelain vase from the early 19th century. A silver tray with glass containing exquisite lace, and an 18th-century mirror—I bought these things in an antique shop in Stratford. Often something was purchased for roles. Gloves, brooches, veils. In the series "Moore" I played in my grandmother's dress, she wore it after the war. In Declan Donnellan’s play “Three Sisters” (I play Masha), I’m wearing a real cameo from that time and jewelry bought in an antique store in Moscow. This gives me a special mood... I had the good fortune to play with such a magnificent actress as Olga Mikhailovna Yakovleva. In the play “Hamlet” by Dmitry Krymov, she played Gertrude, and I played Ophelia. Once there was such a case: the performance could not begin because Olga Mikhailovna could not go on stage - she was given torn stockings. The costumers were frantically looking for a new pair and said: “You have a long skirt and ankle boots, no one will see anything.” She answered, almost crying: “I can’t play Gertrude in torn stockings, I just can’t - that’s all.” And I understand her very much, this is not a whim, it’s just impossible.
“K&Z”: Describe your condition and attitude today? I.G.:
Previously, there were storms, dark water, it was constantly raining, a small ship sailed, blown by all the winds... And suddenly the storm died down, the sun came out and the shore appeared. The ship moored to the long-awaited shore, and there the birds were singing, the sea was calm, blue and a beautiful snow-white city.
“K&Z”: Irina, you really are a real storyteller. Do you often transfer your penchant for fantasy into real life? I.G.:
Yes. We live the way we dreamed for ourselves. What we think is true. What we believe in will happen. As we pray, we live.
Search for happiness
As a girl, Irina came up with an ideal man for herself. She clearly formulated and wrote down ten qualities of a potential groom. Her chosen one is a tall, believing, rich, brilliant, faithful, loving, admirable, intelligent, kind, strong knight. It was precisely such a person who could make Irina Anatolyevna Grineva happy. Personal life, children, home, dreams for the future - everything was connected with this ideal man. All that remains is to wait to meet him.
Fateful meeting
Life brought them together three times, but twice the man and woman, carried away by professional achievements, did not even notice each other. But the third meeting completely turned the lives of two accomplished adults upside down.
In one of her interviews, Irina told one incident that happened in a restaurant. After the waiter brought some dish, Maxim invited Irina to try this culinary masterpiece with him. Grineva agreed, sat down next to her and unexpectedly realized that this man would be her husband. The actress remembered her grandmother, who said that her betrothed granddaughter would recognize her betrothed immediately. Previously, these words seemed like an empty phrase to Irina, but now she understood their meaning.
The couple did not have a candy-bouquet period. Literally 3 days after they met, they realized that they wanted to be together. Maxim did not waste time and proposed to Irina. Out of surprise, she couldn’t think of anything better than to say the banal “I’ll think about it,” although deep down she already knew exactly the answer.
A beautiful fairy tale by Irina Grineva
Irina Grineva is not only an excellent actress, but also a friendly and sincere person. Her personal life is also going well. She was already married twice. Irina’s first husband was the famous director Andrei Zvyagintsev. They were happy together, but the union still broke up.
The second husband of the actress was an equally popular person - figure skater Maxim Shabalin. This marriage turned out to be more successful for the girl. Irina Grineva’s husband is not only a good family man, but also managed to become a member of the executive committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation. They are happily married and value each other. Their relationship seems ideal. Not long ago, their marriage was illuminated with happy news - they became parents. Now they are raising a girl named Vasilisa, who is as beautiful as her parents.
You can say jokingly that Irina’s husband was born wearing skates. After all, he started skating very early. He first connected his life with figure skating at the age of four. Of course, at that age it was my parents' idea. But the boy liked this idea. For a long time he was mostly involved in ice sports.
At the age of 11, the coach offered Maxim a different option, deciding that ice dancing would be more suitable for him. At first it didn't work out very well for him. For a long time he tried to get used to the new type of activity. Over the past five years, the actress’s husband has managed to change about five partners. I also couldn’t get used to daily stable training.
In 1998, a young and successful skater moved to live and work in Bulgaria. There he spoke on behalf of the country for a year and a half. However, very soon he realized that he wanted to return to Russia. Over his long career, Maxim Shablin managed to become a bronze medalist at the Vancouver Olympic Games, a world champion, and a two-time gold and one-time silver winner at the European Championship.
Irina Grineva’s husband Maxim Shablin is an incredibly courageous and at the same time friendly person. He became an unconditional symbol of boundless dedication to the cause with which he devoted his entire life without fear. Moreover, his masculinity is confirmed not only by appearance, but also by actions. For several years, he went out for years at his own risk.
The thing is that he had a serious knee injury. He received it by accident - during one of his hard training sessions. This injury did not allow him to continue skating carefree and freely on the ice. He no longer felt like a full-fledged athlete, because he was constantly worried about his health. Also, he could not show his capabilities to the fullest.
However, this did not prevent the Domnina-Shabalin couple from soon becoming world champions, as well as the first skaters to win not only “adult” but also “junior” gold at the world championships. Of course, a lot of credit goes to the training, the perseverance of the skaters and the professionalism of the coaches.
After finishing his sports career, Maxim did not disappear from television screens, but continued to skate on ice. Now he is a frequent guest on television ice shows. He gets pleasure from this and is also satisfied with the outcome of his career.
Maxim admits that 2010 was one of the happiest years for him. After all, it was this year that Irina Grineva appeared in his life. He fell in love with her literally at first sight and realized that he did not want to let her go. Irina and Maxim live very happily, trust and mutual understanding reign in the family. There is practically no gossip about them, the spouses do not find themselves in unpleasant and scandalous situations. Now they delight fans with joint photos on social networks and more.
The couple are adherents of traditional family values. For this reason, many traditions are still observed in their family. However, they decided to share the most unusual one only recently.
In July 2013, Irina and Maxim had a daughter, Vasilisa. The couple decided that the baby would appear in Spain; she was born in a private clique accompanied by jazz music. After that, her parents baptized her, but in Russia, in the same church where they got married.
Irina and Maxim admitted that every year on their anniversary they buy wedding suits and have a wedding again, this time a fake one. All relatives and friends are invited to the event. Guests love this kind of occasion for a meeting. But most of all, the couple’s little daughter likes this event. Irina declares that as long as romance and love are alive in them, they will have a wedding.
It’s not for nothing that all the couples they know talk about their harmonious and sincere relationship. If spouses quarrel, they immediately make up. They can't live without each other. A long time ago we learned to find compromises. But it rarely comes to this, because the spouses are very similar and have the same views on many things. Such relationships should be strived for without doubt.
Reliable berth
Irina Grineva and Maxim Shabalin, whose wedding took place in 2010, are strong and creative people. It is quite natural that disputes and misunderstandings sometimes arise between them. But, thanks to the mutual desire to preserve the tender feeling that unites them, all differences are easily overcome.
They have many common topics of conversation, they look at many things the same way, and read the same books. Irina was surprised and delighted when she saw Maxim have one of her favorite works - Plato’s “Dialogues”. This helped her discern in her chosen one not only a kindred spirit, but also a person with a high level of intelligence.
Grineva is a supporter of the traditional distribution of roles in marriage. This does not apply to washing floors, cooking or other household details, but to the relationship between spouses. When she got married, she wanted to be “behind her husband,” behind his reliable, strong back. Next to Maxim, she succeeds.
Irina herself compares herself to a ship, which, after long wanderings, storms and adversity, found its reliable berth , a quiet harbor. All the traits that the young dreamer endowed with an ideal man, she sees in her husband. He, in turn, strives to surprise and please his wife. For example, a woman once said that she really wanted to visit Paris. Soon, her husband presented her with the coveted tickets and the couple flew to the capital of France. A dream come true!
Personal life
The actress's first husband was director Andrei Zvyagintsev. Almost nothing is known about the relationship between the former spouses. After several years of married life, the couple separated; there were no children in the marriage.
Irina Grineva and Andrey Zvyagintsev
The second and current chosen one of the actress was the famous figure skater Maxim Shabalin. It’s interesting that Irina and Maxim were introduced three times, but they remembered each other only the last time. Before this, no one even remembered the name. Their first conversation began during a holiday, where they found themselves next to each other at the table. Literally from the first exchange of phrases, Irina and Maxim found each other’s company very pleasant. This is how their romance began, the relationship developed rapidly, and already in 2010 the couple got married in the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God. Grineva was wearing a beautiful wedding dress in the style of the 19th century.
Irina Grineva with her husband
Note that the actress is nine years older than her husband. The couple are happily married and now have a daughter, Varvara, who was born in 2013.
Irina Grineva is a successful actress and mother. She believes that a real woman should be able to combine both family and career, without giving up anything. In addition to work and family, Irina devotes time to her hobbies. She writes poetry, fairy tales, draws, and also loves fencing.
Meaning of life
If her husband helps Grineva feel happy and loved, then the meaning and fullness of life were revealed to the actress after the birth of her child. At the age of 40, Irina gave birth to a daughter. Little Vasilisa Shabalina once again changed her mother's worldview . Grineva developed a heightened sense of the value of life, someone else’s and her own. She began to take better care of herself and have a different attitude towards the transience of life. She tries to devote every free minute to her daughter.
After the birth of Vasilisa, the relationship between the spouses changed somewhat. The husband’s love and care was now manifested not in wide, beautiful gestures and flights to Paris, but in rocking the baby while the mother slept peacefully before the next theater premiere. But such actions are valued much more than what money can buy.
