Yulia Mayboroda was born on the Don into a multinational, intelligent and highly educated family. The life and fate of each of her ancestors deserves special attention. The actress herself talks about her origins like this: “My surname is typically Ukrainian. “May, may” - to have. Apparently, I had a bearded ancestor. My great-grandfather (whose last name I bear) on my father’s side is from Poltava. After the war, he built an automobile plant in Dnepropetrovsk, got married, became the chief engineer there, and then was transferred to Moscow. My grandfather Oleg Mayboroda is a candidate of technical sciences, teaches at MADI, my grandmother (originally from Yaroslavl) is a journalist, my father is a philosopher and inventor.
On my mother’s side, my great-grandmother is Greek, my great-grandfather, her husband, a Russian, a customs officer, received a medal for zeal from the hands of Nicholas II. I know that they had an unearthly love and a big age difference: great-grandmother Concordia Kararadis was 20 years younger than Stepan Sadovsky! They had a son - my grandfather Kirill, a very talented man, knew seven languages, played the piano beautifully, and was a journalist in Rostov-on-Don. My grandfather taught me drawing, physics, and algebra from the age of five. Apparently, I overdid it: already as a child I realized that I was a pure humanitarian. Grandmother, Don Cossack, biochemist. Mom is an artist."
Julia grew up and was brought up among smart and gifted people. It is not surprising that in early childhood she discovered her talent as an artist. The girl drew beautifully and successfully graduated from art school. However, she did not want to continue her career as an artist in the future. For more complete self-expression, she lacked a canvas, and most importantly, a viewer. The girl needed to see an immediate reaction to her work, for which the theater was ideal. That is why Julia decided to try her hand at acting.
On her first attempt, the girl managed to enroll in the Shchukin Higher Theater School for the course of M. A. Panteleeva, whom she remembers with warmth: “I will always be grateful to Marina Aleksandrovna Panteleeva, my beloved artistic director: she was gentle, patient, wise, and when you need it tough, straight. She was the one who gave me a chance and took me to her course. I pulled out a lucky ticket, but did not understand that I would have to prove my right to it more than once. During the training process, many were expelled, 38 people were accepted to the course, 25 received diplomas. I had to change a lot in myself, some things were difficult. But the more valuable they became to me.”

Over the course of ten years, Julia changed several theaters. On the stage of the Tragifars Theater she played Clementine in Grigory Gorin’s play “Forget Herostratus” (directed by A. Mamadakov). Then she moved to the theater “At the Nikitsky Gate” directed by Mark Rozovsky, where she was offered the role of Lyuda in “The Romance of Girls” by Vladimir Vysotsky (directed by Mark Rozovsky).
Later there was an attempt to join the troupe of the Satyricon theater. The actress even began rehearsals for the play “Country of Love” based on the play “The Snow Maiden” by A.N. Ostrovsky, directed by Konstantin Raikin. However, it did not come to the premiere. The artistic director of the Moscow Drama Theater named after Ruben Simonov, Vyacheslav Shalevich, invited the artist to immediately join the troupe and play the main roles. Julia says: “I realized that this was mine, and agreed. But she didn’t appear on the stage of the Satyricon Theater; due to her busy schedule, she had to make a choice. One of my favorite roles at the Simonov Theater was Princess Budur in the fairy tale “Aladdin’s Magic Lamp.”

On the set, the artist worked with Maria Glazkova, Sergei Astakhov, Igor Stam, Oleg Gushchin, Stanislav Erdley, Lyudmila Nilskaya and many other actors. But she has the warmest memories of the two. “First of all, this is my “father” Oleg Gushchin,” Yulia clarifies. “I have a very good relationship with him.” Then, Igor Stam - it’s very easy to work with him, because a person sees a partner. The most important thing, it seems to me, is when a person does not pull the blanket over himself, but when he sees his partner and helps him, then a good overall picture is obtained.”
Successful, bright work in “Black Goddess” gave a good start to the artist’s cinematic career. She began to be invited to lead roles in top-rated TV series. In 2011, the actress appeared on screen in a new role. She played the role of an ambitious communist, the chairman of a collective farm in Vladimir Balkashinov’s series “The War Ended Yesterday.” In one of the interviews, the artist spoke about the storyline of the film and her heroine: “The action takes place in the village of Maryino in the spring of 1945. This is a story about how people awaken after the horrors of war, love, hate, forgive, and try to build a new life. Katerina, a young, selfless communist, comes to the village and, by appointment of the district party committee, becomes the chairman of the collective farm.
My heroine is a naive, angular girl, having gone through many trials, having known love, she hardens, blossoms, becomes a strong woman, and achieves the trust and respect of the entire village. It was interesting for me to immerse myself in the atmosphere of that time, a time of genuine feelings, strong and deep, which only truly open and bright people can experience.”
The film also featured: Elena Dudina, Anatoly Rudenko, Nikolai Ivanov, Lyubov Rudenko and other artists. But the soul of the entire film crew was, of course, the most talented actor, People's Artist of the USSR Bogdan Stupka, who played the role of the former chairman, Fyodor, whose place is taken by Katerina.
According to the script, Katerina and Fyodor developed a very complex relationship. In almost every scene, the actors portrayed open conflict. And Yulia was amazed at how quickly her experienced colleague could get out of character and reassemble in front of the “Motor!” team.
“Bogdan Silvestrovich, stern in the frame, is such a sunny, open person in life! – the artist shares. “I was amazed by his ability to switch instantly. This is “aerobatics”, which speaks of high skill. For me, working with him is a good school, and also joy and pleasure. Bogdan Silvestrovich treated me very carefully during filming and could always suggest something if a scene didn’t work out, and praise me if it was well played.”
In recent years, several interesting multi-genre projects have been released with the participation of the actress. She starred in Murad Aliyev’s action-packed adventure film “Marines” (Natasha), based on real events; played Lisa in Sergei Bystritsky’s comedy “The Unlucky Daughter-in-Law”; in the multi-part family drama by Igor Voitulevich “Mistress of My Destiny” she played the role of the French woman Claire.
