Danila was born on January 3, 1986 in Moscow. His parents were involved in the world of cinema. My mother worked as a costume designer, my father as a sound engineer. As a schoolboy, in addition to acting, Danila was seriously interested in sports - he attended swimming classes, water polo, and received the title of Master of Sports in basketball. Danila passed the entrance exams without problems and became a student in the course supervised by Vyacheslav Dolgachev. During his studies, Yakushev became fascinated by the mysteries and techniques of micromagic , surprising his colleagues and then a wider audience with various tricks. In addition, he used his free time to learn how to dance well and drive a car at the highest level.
The girl who became the “culprit” for Danila’s choice of profession did not become an actress, but Yakushev is still grateful to her for such a turn in his life.
Danila Yakushev received a diploma of higher education in 2007, after which he joined the acting troupe of the New Drama Theater . Thus, his collaboration with Vyacheslav Dolgachev, the artistic director of this acting group, continued.
Soon the young artist began to appear on stage in productions of “Rich Brides”, “Don Juan”, “The Long Farewell”, “Jokers”, “Robbers”, “Incredible Incidents”. In 2011, Yakushev left the theater, concentrating on working in cinema.

Tell us about your role. Do you like historical films yourself?
The Firsts project is an unforgettable journey. We filmed three seasons: summer, autumn, severe winter. This is one of the most incredible adventures. We sailed every day. There was not a single modern item on the ship. The ship was standing on the shore. They filmed it from a copter, from a large helicopter. They didn’t even see him because he was somewhere over the mountains. And we were simply lost in time... I once told an actor friend that we would remember these moments in our old age. If we were on an excursion, we would be wearing a vest. And here everything was like in Scandinavia: rocks, pine trees, water. We filmed the storm at zero degrees. Creepy. After all, this is not a pavilion, but open water. Dressed in wetsuits with woolen clothing underneath, we were doused with ice-cold water. They drank cognac to warm up.
And then my hero fought with a wolf, alive, albeit tame. The director stuffed pieces of meat and fish down my collar so that the beast would gnaw them out. In the story, he tore his throat.
It was scary?
Yes, because the beast was quite large, although I am also quite big. He held him by the ears and neck. They explained: “Let him know that you are stronger.” But these were delicate moments. The scene was filmed for about an hour. I had to fight him. He seemed to be playing, but at some point it grew into something more serious... I was also taught how to manage a team of fourteen huskies. Some of them walked the entire North Pole.
You said you're not a weak guy. And it’s true, in just a few years you’ve improved dramatically...
It so happened that I left the theater in 2011 and decided to radically change the type. He was tall, thin, and a master of sports in basketball at one time. And then all my friends are athletes... I’ve been involved in sports for six years. As a result, I gained more than 20 kilograms of muscle mass. Weighed 65 kg, now 97 with a height of 195 cm. As a result, different roles and heroes began. I used to play drug addicts, losers. And now - those who catch them.

Have you become friends with any of the partners in the film? In general, how do you feel about communicating with your colleagues?
Of course, I made friends. Zhenya Tkachuk is a very strong partner. Serebryakov considers him one of the best actors of the generation, and I agree with him. We used to be friends with him. Then, however, we somehow got lost: everyone had their own projects. I've been avoiding communicating with actresses lately.
Because a few years ago you dated an actress?
That's not the only reason. I realized that these are not my type of women. Actresses are often difficult people. Perhaps there are those who retain some feminine qualities when communicating with a man, but more often they strive for constant competition.
You used to be compared to Ryan Gosling all the time, and now too... Annoying?
Not really. I am ironic about this topic. He is considered the best actor of his generation. I've watched almost all of his films. And not because we are similar, but because there are really worthy paintings, sometimes little-known, for example arthouse works. There's a lot to learn from Gosling.
Do you have any idols?
There are actors that I follow. I've been watching Anthony Hopkins for about fifteen years now. I also like Tom Hardy. Among the Russians, at one time he sympathized with Makovetsky. Serebryakov, Madyanov. Well, those... who work in detail, live, don’t pretend to be anything, don’t just try to earn money and give up on everything. And of course, Khabensky. A very serious artist. It seems to me that he is the best artist in Russia at the moment.
You work very hard. And if you have free time, what do you spend it on?
Fishing. I've been into this for about nine years now. I also built a garage with my own hands in Moscow. He took up carpentry. I also draw. I write music, I have several rock albums, I read rap. In short, I relax in creativity or alone with nature. No bars or clubs. You can't meet me there.
So you can be seen somewhere fishing in the Moscow region?
Well, either on the roads, on my bike, or in the gym.
What is currently happening in your personal life?
I am single. The serious relationship ended a couple of years ago. And for now I am getting to know myself and looking for answers to questions, eliminating the shortcomings that are present in every person. I began to see problems not in other people, but in myself. It's nobody's fault. The next relationship should be until the end...
What lessons did you learn from your last novel?
There is no need to whine and lose heart. You need to take it and do it.

I'm Capricorn. Yes, a lot is similar. After thirty I started to notice...

Can you call yourself a generous person? Do you think girls should be given diamonds with or without an occasion or just for engagement?
Fortunately, I haven’t met any young ladies who love diamonds. On the contrary, they said it was nonsense. But I am an absolutely generous person when it comes to gifts, because I prefer to accumulate memories rather than finances.
If you put your personal life or career on the scale now, what will you choose?
A job because I’m not ready for a relationship yet. And all this will collapse again if there is no stability.
So this is another reason why that union broke up?
Well, women are inherently treacherous. Not everyone wants to be the wife of a Decembrist...

Do you have a dream role?
I used to want to play Woland when he was 30–35 years old. Why couldn't Woland be outwardly young, but eternal inside? And then I somehow moved away from this desire. And now they are already offering roles that I like. These are such hermit heroes, strong in spirit, principled, brave. But there are big problems with scripts in Russia. When my friends or strangers watch films with my participation, they sometimes write on Instagram: “The film, of course, is shit, but you were remembered.” As Epifantsev said: “They don’t make much cinema in Russia yet, so I act everywhere.”
Indeed, there is a tendency that foreign films are more highly valued in our country...

I want to always be strong, even if there are some problems in work or love. I mean physical health. I'm afraid I won't have enough strength. It’s just that after thirty, some have their backs, some have their legs. And before, everyone was immortal.
Are there principles that you will never compromise?
There are a lot of them. But there are some basic things, for example, I won’t spend time with someone for something...
For the sake of a role, for example?
Well, yes. I'd rather leave so as not to cause a massacre.
Have there been such proposals?
Yes. They said that we will arrange everything in an instant, and everything will be like that of various famous artists.
And what's the price?
I can't talk about this. Probably my attitude came from the courtyards. Thank God I grew up in a time not of the Internet, but of sticks and nettles. We played wrestling in the yard, and when you got it from the guys who were stronger, you still asked to do it again, just so as not to lose... From then on, the desire to achieve something on your own arose. And this is more expensive than the money you will receive for a project or advertising.
Who is your immediate circle now?
My friends and I have our own film company. Director, screenwriter, producer - people I have known for more than 15 years. The film “All or Nothing” directed by Dmitry Suvorov has already been released, which we presented at Kinotavr. There is an incredibly cool lineup: me, Kirill Kaganovich, Roman Madyanov, Yuri Stoyanov - senior (and junior), Artur Smolyaninov. A painting in the style of Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino. The plot centers on three friends who decide to improve their lives after learning that their boss is laundering money by selling a fake cure for cancer. They decide to figure it out. The premiere is in December.
Can you share your immediate plans?
I will spend three days at the Kinotavr festival. There will be a party for our film. Then I immediately fly to Yaroslavl to film a project on Channel One with Masha Mashkova and Artem Tkachenko. It will be something in the style of Bridget Jones's Diary. The premiere is in December.
