Dmitry Pchela: Now I fully felt what a crisis is

Biography

Dmitry Pchela was born and raised in the capital of Estonia in a Russian family. His mother is an economist, his father is a sailor. Dmitry said about where such an unusual surname came from: “The following legend is in use in our family. It’s as if one of my ancestors told a joke about the Soviet regime, for which he was exiled to Siberia, to the apiaries. And there he changed his last name to Pchela. No one knows what the previous surname in the father’s family was. As a child, I really didn’t like and was embarrassed to be called a Bee, but now I think that for an artist you can’t think of a better surname - and there’s no need for a pseudonym.”

Dima received his secondary education at Karjamaa Gymnasium. Since childhood, he was a very active boy, literally interested in everything: science, sports, read a lot, wrote poetry, played in the school theater, but was especially inspired by the works of Shakespeare, Dostoevsky and Chekhov.

Dima was helped into the acting profession by chance: “I accidentally ended up at the Russian Drama Theater of Estonia, where I saw an announcement about a competition for young playwrights. I had to write a short play and send it to the competition. I didn't win, but my work was noted. During the award ceremony he said: “I also play the prince in the school play Cinderella.” And suddenly, before the summer holidays, I got a call from the theater: “Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov is recruiting for the Russian Drama Theater. Come! Try your strength." So I found myself among the 12 lucky ones who became students in Igor Zolotovitsky’s course at the Moscow Art Theater School. Life has changed dramatically,” recalls the actor.

My student years were bright and eventful. Dmitry studied on the same course with future successful actors: Anton Shagin, Maxim Matveev, Ekaterina Vilkova. After graduating from the Studio School in 2006, he was forced to return to Tallinn. According to the terms of the contract, the artist had to work for two years in the troupe of the Russian Theater in the capital of Estonia. Here he quickly went up the hill, began to get leading roles, established himself as a leading theater actor, and gained the love of the audience and the respect of his colleagues.

But Dmitry Pchela was not going to stop there. I left my home for Moscow and started everything from scratch. He entered the correspondence department of the directing department of the Shchukin School in the workshop of Leonid Kheifets. At the same time, he worked in the Moscow “Chekhov Studio” under the direction of V.G. Baicher and acted in films so that he could pay for his studies and living in the capital. In 2013, having staged two graduation performances, Dmitry received a director's diploma.

Shchukin School

But actor Dmitry Pchela was not going to stop there, and therefore entered the correspondence department at the Shchukin School. He chose the director's path for himself. He entered the correspondence department, since he himself had to pay for his education at the school, and this cost a lot of money. It was hard for the actor during these years. Since no one was waiting for him in the capital, he had to wander around rented rooms and work day and night to earn at least something for his food.

Then Dmitry served in the Chekhov Studio, where he played many roles. It was then that he managed to show his love for Chekhov, whose work he was fond of during his school years. As Dmitry himself admits, Russia gave him many chances to realize his plans and fantasies. Pchela believes that it was thanks to Leonid Kheifets that he became a successful actor, because it was his course that the young man enrolled in several years ago.

After arriving in Moscow, Dmitry’s life changed. He understood that he would not be able to sit in one place, and began to work, meet people, communicate, and make new useful connections. Today, Dmitry is more interested in the theater in which he wants to express himself. He also hopes that he will be able to return to Tallinn and stage a play there to surprise the local people.

Theater

As a theater actor, Dmitry Pchela made his debut at the Tallinn Russian Drama Theater. Among his first roles: Orlando in the Shakespearean comedy directed by Timofey Sopolev “As you like it”, Richard in the production of Alexander Potuzhny’s “River on the Asphalt” based on the play by D. Lipskerov, the patient in Chekhov’s “Ward No. 6”, staged by A. Anokhina.

Later, the artist successfully coped with the main roles of a diverse nature. He played Chevalier Danceny in Mikhail Chumachenko's tragicomedy "Dangerous Liaisons" based on the play by Choderlos de Laclos, Kozlov in V. Ryzhakov's play "Don't Part With Your Loved Ones" based on Alexander Volodin, Mr. Blue in Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs" directed by A. Trifonova, Jerry in the play M. Feigin “Dancing at the Harvest Festival” after B. Frill.

In Chekhov's Studio, Dmitry Pchela received the roles of Laevsky in The Duel and Smirnov in The Bear, and also took part in Chekhov's Stories.

Directing

The successful and sought-after actor Dmitry Pchela did not choose the profession of director by chance. In one of his interviews, he said: “The theater is interesting to me in all its manifestations. It seems to me that directing will give me the opportunity to better understand the nature of the acting profession. Besides, I have a lot of ideas that I would like to implement. I want to understand the director’s profession, to understand what modern theater should be like. How to make the actor feel comfortable and comfortable on stage.”

In Moscow, Dmitry Pchela, together with his comrades from the Shchukin School, has already staged several performances. One of the first notable works was “Medea” based on the ancient tragedy of Euripides. “The text is almost 2500 years old. It seems to me that it is quite relevant today... First of all, this is the story of a family, the story of betrayal, the struggle of the animal nature in a person with love and reason,” says the author.

Bee's more mature directorial work is “The Reserve” based on Sergei Dovlatov, created on the stage of the “Chekhov Studio”. The story attracted Dmitry with its depth and psychologism. He said about the performance: “In Dovlatov’s prose, as in any great work, there are many allegories, subtexts, layers of meaning, including political and social ones. But this performance, first of all, tells the story of ordinary people and their relationships. Each character in the play is a kind of museum exhibit, unique, original, inimitable, but also in some way closed in his own narrow world and afraid to go beyond the limits of his limited personal space. And only such a strong feeling as love can make a person take a step forward, beyond the barriers and boundaries he himself has created. “The Reserve” is, first of all, the story of a man and a woman, their relationship, a love story that can save and lead out of any labyrinth, “reserve.” The performance received the high theater award “Bronze Knight”.

Dmitry Pchela lives and works in Moscow, but does not forget about his native “Russian Theater” in Tallinn, constantly monitors everything that happens within its walls and dreams of working there again: “My soul hurts for the Russian Theater. There are some incredibly talented actors and actresses here. I hope someday I can come and do something here. But I still have a lot to learn. I would like both Russians and Estonians to be proud of the Russian Theatre.”

Dmitry’s plans are to teach acting, but for now he is improving his skills and gaining experience: in 2020 he became a student at the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors.

Dmitry Pchela: a place in the sun

Dmitry was born into an ordinary family without creative inclinations. But they showed up in him. In his native Tallinn,
he graduated from high school, during which he showed a love for classical literature. This passion eventually led to his first attempts at writing. These were poems. However, Dmitry did not develop this talent professionally, but decided to try to transform himself into images from recognized works.

The dream has become reality. Admission to the Moscow Art Theater School

proved that there are reasons.
But later the actor returned to the places where he grew up. For several years Pchela gained experience on the stage of the Tallinn Russian Theater
.
The skills were developed rapidly, so no, no, and the idea of directing appeared. So he again ended up in the Russian capital at the directing department of Shchuk
.

At this time, the first film experiments appeared. Bee made his debut in the melodrama “Cream”

.
A few years later, Dmitry received the main role in the series “Katina Love”
and this was already serious. The series spans a twenty-year period and spans two seasons. During this time, the actor managed to show the whole story of the character and be remembered by the audience.

“Katina’s Love” marked the beginning of an active period of filming, and in the end the very role was found that brought Dmitry fame. It was the series “Everything is just beginning”

, in which, paired with Anatoly Rudenko, Pchela showed the difficult relationship between two brothers.
In the plot of another project, “Bring Back My Love,”
Dmitry created a soulful image, played, according to the audience, in one breath. Now fans are dedicating poems and best wishes to the actor, looking forward to new works.

Cinema

Dmitry Pchela began acting in films in 2011, and in 2012 the actor was offered the main role in Dmitry Goldman’s series “Katina Love”. The despotic but charismatic Evgeny Trukhanov, created by him on the screen, did not leave the television audience indifferent. The artist received massive love and popularity. Katya was performed by Olga Pavlovets in the film, and Yuri Tsurilo, Olga Drozdova, Anna Dankova and others also took part in the project.

Later, the second part of “Katina’s Love” was filmed, followed by the series: “Unloved” by Artem Nasybulin with the participation of Nadezhda Mikhalkova, “Ticket for Two” by Vladimir Balkashinov with Dmitry Shcherbina, Maria Konyashkina and Nikolai Boklan, “Hillbilly” by Vladimir Ustyugov with Anna Mikhailovskaya and Alexander Konstantinov, “The Kiss” by Oleg Maslennikov with Alena Krieg and Ivan Kolesnikov, the fantastic detective story “The Time Loop” by Georgy Ilyin with Vladimir Nikitin, Elizaveta Pashchenko, Ilya Obolonkov.

"Bring Back My Love"

At the end of 2014, Evgeniy Baranov’s multi-part melodrama “Bring Back My Love” about the difficult fate of a young cellist who loses the most precious thing in her life was released on television. Dmitry Pchela played one of the main roles in the film - businessman Anton, who betrayed love.

In an interview with Sobesednik magazine, the actor spoke about his hero: “Anton is from a poor family, he rose from the very bottom, married an unloved woman for convenience. It’s hard for him in a family where he has no rights. He falls in love with Vera, but must give up this first real feeling. Anton compromised with his conscience, left Vera, returned to his wife, but he can no longer live in peace. Our story raises a lot of philosophical themes about what not to do.”

Vera in the film was played by Olesya Fattakhova, Anton’s rival, the artist Vlad, was played by Stanislav Bondarenko. Also taking part in the film: Nastasya Samburskaya, Vladimir Litvinov, Natalya Vasko, Anatoly Lobotsky.

"It's only begining"

One of the actor’s last major works in cinema was Dmitry Kuzmin’s series “It’s Just Beginning,” where the artist appeared in the image of a positive, successful businessman suffering from the machinations and intrigues of his brother. The actor said about how he got this role: “We filmed the series last year in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Filming lasted about six months. Initially, they auditioned me for the role of a villain, which was later given to Tolya Rudenko; the director saw me as a positive hero. You know, lately I prefer such characters rather than villains. I often refuse roles as criminals, although I recently starred in a crime series (“Wild-4” by Artem Mazunov) in one of the central roles, playing a bandit. But there the hero has a personal story, there is something to play!”

In the film, Dmitry's ensemble included young but experienced artists: Lyubov Bakhankova, Anatoly Rudenko, Ivan Shabaltas, Marina Esipenko. The filming of the melodrama took place in conditions as close to reality as possible, which helped the actors organically get used to the characters. Emotional acuity and truthfulness were also facilitated by emergency situations occurring on the set. Dmitry said about one such case: “It was interesting to work. What is the story worth when I almost drowned on the set! The brothers' fight in the river, when Sasha (Anatoly Rudenko) tries to drown Alexey, was agreed to be filmed in shallow water. But they miscalculated a little, and at the very climax I realized that I couldn’t feel the bottom under my feet. And Tolik Rudenko, confident that I was at a safe depth, began to sink me, as the script required. After a certain number of minutes, I realized that oxygen was running out. I have never waited with such hope for the director’s command “Stop!”

Participation in the film added stage experience and audience love to the actor’s treasury. After the release of the film, fans of Dmitry Pchela’s work created his fan group on the Internet. The artist himself loves his work in the series because in the final scene of the touching melodrama his nine-month-old daughter made her debut, playing the newborn son of the main characters.

Currently, the talented and charming artist continues to actively act in films. In 2020, in addition to the series “Everything is just beginning,” melodramas were released: Evgeny Baranov’s “For the Sake of Love I Can Do Anything” and Maxim Demchenko’s “Broken Fates,” where the actor played leading roles. And in 2016, viewers have the opportunity to get acquainted with Dmitry’s new works in the projects: Leonid Mazor’s “Diary of a Mother-in-Law”, Vladimir Nakhabtsev’s “Department”, Vadim and Stanislav Shmelev’s “Provocateur”.

In cinema, Dmitry Pchela is mostly involved in TV series. Modern soap operas are often criticized for their traditionally low quality. And the artist, who has received serious acting and directing education, partly agrees with this opinion. And he explains his active participation in such projects as follows: “...it’s better to act in TV series than to sit at home and wait for years for an invitation to Hollywood or a call from Nikita Sergeevich Mikhalkov. Filming in multi-part films gives me a certain amount of knowledge and skills.”

Over the years, the artist has become a real star of soap operas, which does not bother him at all, because the Russian television series industry has stepped far forward.

Personal life

Dmitry Pchela, with the restraint characteristic of the Baltic people, does not talk about his personal life. Every now and then there are rumors about his affairs with his colleagues in the series, but every time it turns out that this is nothing more than another myth. And yet, journalists reliably learned: the artist is not yet officially married, but his heart is still occupied.

Dmitry's mysterious chosen one is also an actress. A correspondent for the magazine “Sobesednik” managed to find out from Pchela the details of their romance: “One day I was accidentally shown a recording of a graduation performance by a graduate of a theater university, I saw Katya in the frame, and I realized that I was losing my head. I found out the name and found it on social networks. By that time, we were both free people, we had no unsuccessful marriages or children behind us. There was only one thing that got in the way - distance: Katya lived in St. Petersburg, and I lived in Moscow. We corresponded for a long time, met, realized that we wanted to be together, and I moved her to the capital. Now we are renting an apartment here. We went through everything: there were periods of separation, quarrels, but this is already in the past. On September 30, 2014, Sofia was born to us.”

A hardworking, charming, promising artist with a bright personality is the idol of thousands of women of all ages. Many of them compare Dmitry to Michael Douglas in his youth. The actor reacts to this with a smile and respect: “My viewers are very grateful. And it's mutual. I always strive to be as honest and sincere as possible with the public. Life is so difficult and we need to help each other. And artists are called upon to make the lives of viewers brighter, brighter, more interesting, save them from loneliness, and give them food for thought.” Apparently, this attitude towards people and his craft lies the secret of Dmitry Pchela’s creative success.

Bee Dmitry, actor: personal life

As a true Baltic, the famous artist shows restraint in everything, including in communicating with the press. For a long time, journalists were unable to find out who Dmitry was dating. Only a few years ago, the actor officially announced his relationship with the rather famous actress Ekaterina Ryabova.

Dmitry met his chosen one in an unusual way. One day, an artist was asked to evaluate the quality of the thesis work of one of the theater school students. In a cut of stills from a short film, Bee noticed an attractive girl with whom he fell in love at first sight. Later, the artist managed to find Ekaterina Ryabova on social networks and win her heart with his charisma.

Currently, the couple continues to live in a civil marriage. In 2014, Dmitry and Ekaterina had a daughter. The girl was named Sofia. Despite his young age, the child is already declaring his intention to become an actress, following the example of his parents. And it is worth noting that the girl has good makings for this. Not long ago, Sofia and her father took part in the filming of the multi-part project “It’s Just Beginning.”

Love for the theater. Notable roles in TV series

Having received his diploma, the aspiring actor returned to his homeland, where he served for two years at the Russian Drama Theater. Together with his colleagues, he did a lot for his native theater, however, the young man dreamed of conquering Moscow. Returning to the capital, Dmitry began developing his career. In addition to filming, he also studied at the Shchukin Theater Institute in the directing department.

Having played small roles, Bee appeared in the melodramatic series “Katina Love”, where he got the main role. Despite the negative role, his hero Evgeny Trukhanov attracted the attention of television viewers, who noted the performance of the young actor. It is not surprising that since that time new projects have appeared in his filmography, such as “Unloved”, “Broken Fates”, “Instead of Her”. The actor himself considers his notable work to be the role of businessman Anton in the TV series “Bring Back My Love,” where Olesya Fattakhova and Stanislav Bondarenko became his colleagues on the set. After viewing the picture, people began to recognize him on the streets and write admiring comments.

Still from the film “Provocateur”.

It was no less interesting for Dmitry to work on the set of the series “Everything is just beginning.” During the filming of one episode, an accident almost occurred when the hero of Anatoly Rudenko tried to drown his character, and only the director’s command “Stop!” changed the situation. Among the actor’s recent notable works, we can note such film projects as “The Department”, “Broken Hearts”, “Surgery. Territory of love." In 2020, the dramatic series “Black Blood” was released, where its hero, by the will of fate, has to be torn between two sisters, played by Maria Poroshina and Tatyana Kolganova. It should be noted that, along with a successful acting career, Pchela became interested in directing, and his play “The Reserve” not only pleased many viewers, but also received the “Bronze Knight” theater award.
