Tyra Banks is the muse of the project
Try and fail, but never miss a chance to try
Even uninformed viewers who don't follow the twists and turns of America's Next Top Model know that its creator and head judge is the incomparable Tyra Banks. She knows the fashion world from the inside, so she always helps young inexperienced girls and boys achieve success. But during judging, Tyra can be tough and uncompromising.
Over all the seasons of the show, the famous model, and today a TV presenter, has taken on the roles of a photographer, show director, and fashion coach. The project participants have great respect for Tyra. And she, in turn, helps the best of them achieve incredible success in the fashion world.
Who are the winners?
The photos above are of Cindy Crawford, the top model you know. Do we know anyone from the Tyra show with a great modeling career? After 24 seasons, two participants can be distinguished. These are Caridy English (winner in season seven), who became a spokesperson for the National Psoriasis Foundation, and Analeigh Tipton (third place in season 11), who followed DaCosta's path and became a Hollywood actress. What do we end up with? Not a single successful career in the modeling business.

What does Tyra Banks think about this? She replies: “In my show, I set out to create not just models, but also bright personalities. By harshly commenting on the girls’ photos and criticizing them, I was helping them become independent, confident people.” Okay, but the essence of the project was the emergence of new supermodels, but they never came.
Janice Dickinson - scandalous supermodel
Even before the launch of the first season of the project, Tyra Banks invited the world-famous, scandalous model Janice Dickinson as a member of the jury. The woman who first heard the term “supermodel” could probably share her experience with newcomers to the fashion industry.
- The woman who first heard the term “supermodel” come out of her mouth
Janice served as a judge from 2003 to 2005. But her caustic, harsh, often offensive comments led to the fact that in the next season her place was taken by the no less popular Twiggy.
Participation in the 17th season of the show “America’s Next Top Model: All Stars”
On September 14, 2011, a new season of the project began, which differed from previous ones in that former participants from previous seasons took part in it, as well as by voting by fans and ordinary viewers, the results of which were announced without them. In the first episode, the girls posed for a photographer in the backyard of their home in Los Angeles. In the second episode, the girls were taken to stylists and Kayla's hair color was changed from black to maroon, which is different from what she had done in season 15 (she was a redhead). In episode 4, an accident occurred: Kayla was urgently hospitalized due to cardiac arrhythmia. In the next episode, the girls had to portray Michael Jackson at different periods of his career, and Kayla got to play his early eighties. The task was further complicated by the fact that the sister of the unforgettable Michael was present on the set. Ferrell's photo took 6th place. In episode 6, they had an aggressive photo shoot with supermodel Coco Rocha, and at the end, her photo was again ranked 6th. The next episode was Ferrell's last, since at the beginning of the show the judges had high hopes for her, remembering her strong, bright and memorable photographs, but, not seeing progress, they excluded the girl.
Beau Quillian and Eric Nicholson are fashion editors
Aspiring models become famous thanks to filming in fashion magazines. The creators of the show “America’s Next Top Model” understood this when they invited glossy editors Beau Quillian and Eric Nicholson as judges.
- how to open up at photo shoots;
- how to create commercial photos;
Eric and Bo gave the girls practical advice on how to open up at photo shoots and how to create commercial photos. Their experience has helped many aspiring models gain confidence in themselves and their abilities. But after the end of the 4th season of the show, these guys also left the program.
“America’s Next Top Model”: project participants then and now
In mid-October, Tyra Banks announced that the 22nd season of the show “America's Next Top Model” would be the last, and this news instantly spread around the world, reminding everyone of the brightest participants in the project - their beauty, transformations, perfectionism, drama, and in some moments of absurdity.
DaCosta was the runner-up in the third season of the show and has had great success in her profession. In addition to appearing in magazines such as Interview, Essence and Vibe, the model has collaborated with Target, Marc Bouwer Olay, Isaac Mizrahi and Garnier. Modeling was not the only platform for her self-expression: last year, Yaya starred as Whitney Houston in the television film “Whitney.” She is currently raising a child and starring in the TV series Chicago Clinic.
YaYa DaCosta
Stoltz, like Dacosta, recently turned 32 years old, but she was a candidate for victory in the fifth season and did not become a model in the end. The girl left her job as a fashion model to be a correspondent for MTV, and subsequently retrained as director of stock sales at Bank of America.
Kim Stoltz
Tipton took third place in cycle number 11 and is now in the midst of a boom in her career. Only now Anali is showing herself more as an actress: having made her debut in the comedy “This Stupid Love” and starring in the TV series “Manhattan Love Story”, Anali has every chance of becoming famous in 2020, because Five films featuring this 26-year-old Minneapolis native will be released.
Analeigh Tipton
The winner of the very first season of the show found herself in editing and starred in two reality shows, during the filming of one of which she met her now ex-husband, actor Christopher Knight. In the time since filming the first season of America's Next Top Model, Adrianne has worked a lot as a model and has been on the sexiest lists more than once.
Adrianne Curry
Now Marcille Pigford (her middle name) became the winner of the third season and has worked with DKNY on several occasions. Now the young mother is focused on her acting career and is content with only small roles in films.
Eve Pigford
Having won the eighth season of the show, Jaslin continues to work as a model in her native Puerto Rico and sometimes goes to New York for Fashion Week (this season she could be seen at the Michael Costello fashion show).
Jaslyn Gonzalez
Lisa won the competition on her second try: in 2005 she took sixth place, and in 2011, in the season where all the stars of the show gathered, she took first position. Now the 33-year-old model is busy with music and raising her two-year-old son.
Lisa D'Amato
The winner of the 15th season of the show is remembered for her shyness and tall height (1.94 m!). Otherwise, the girl has not made her presence known since 2011: she does not appear at public events, and she does not post a single photograph of herself on her Twitter page. Such a shy girl.
Anne Ward
CaryDee English, who took the top spot in season seven, continues to take the modeling industry by storm. Judging by her Instagram, she is very, very active.
CaryDee English
Maura, who won the title in Season 4, works as a model, appearing on the covers of Elegant, Look and Wink. She also wrote a book and released her first single in March of this year.
Naima Mora
Linkletter, who won the show's fifth season, has collaborated with several major publications, including Elle, enjoys life with her husband, and often reminisces about the project (and why not, when she has a ton of cool professional shots?).
Nicole Linkletter
Nole Marin – director of a modeling agency
In seasons 3-4, the chair of a jury member was occupied by Nole Marin. The owner of modeling agencies has helped discover many new faces in the fashion world, both on Tyra's program and beyond.
He is remembered for his bickering and constant arguments with fellow flamboyant judge Janice Dickinson , which led to both of them leaving the show after the fourth season. But the fates of Nole and the most popular show in the fashion world did not diverge for long. He appeared in Episode 3 of Season 12 as a guest judge.

Nigel Barker – fashion photographer
British-born photographer Nigel Barker is rightfully considered one of the most popular judges on America's Next Top Model, along with Tyra Banks.
- viewers remembered him thanks to his attractive appearance, manners, and impeccable style;
The photographer began his career as a model, so throughout all the seasons of his judging he always honestly assessed the abilities of the participants. Barker competed on seasons of the show from 2003 to 2012. Tyra did not renew the contract with him due to a sharp drop in the project's ratings.
Episode six: The girl who charmed the photographer
Broadcast March 30, 2011. Tyra Banks had a heart-to-heart talk with the participants and told them how to cope with unexpected fame. She also listened to Molly's complaints about her hair and calmed her down.
After this, another meeting awaited them. This time with photographer Jonathan Mannion. He stunned everyone with the message that he would have to film in the mud. He was in awe of Brittany's photo and didn't notice much of the other girls. Jonathan called her the most professional in the sixteenth season of America's Next Top Model.
This time, another brawler, Monique Wingart, left the project.
Jay Alexander - catwalk diva
Fashion show coach Jay Alexander has been a part of America's Next Top Model since its first season. But he took the judge's chair only in the 5th broadcast cycle.
Miss Jay remained in this role until the 14th season. Afterwards, he temporarily left the project to participate in similar foreign versions. In season 21, Jay Alexander again became a member of the jury of America's Top Model. Thanks to him, the project gained unprecedented popularity and opened a second wind.
Extraordinary appearance, creative approach to work - all this was evident on the screen. Miss Jay treats each model sympathetically and gives practical advice regarding behavior on the catwalk and in life.
Judges
The 16th season of the show was graced by the presence of the most charismatic personalities of the fashion world: the editor-in-chief of the glossy edition of Vogue - Andre Leon Talley, the permanent photographer of the show - Nigel Barker, the English black model Alek Wek, Jay Manuel and the favorite of TV viewers - Tyra Banks. Season 16 of America's Next Top Model is directed by Bob Schermerhorn and Claudia Frank. Written by Kenya Burris and Tyra Banks.
“Rainy Day Women” is the motto of this season, which literally means “rainy day of women”
Twiggy - the legendary supermodel
The name Twiggy is known all over the world. When the legendary model took the spot as a judge on America's Next Top Model, many viewers rejoiced. And there were many reasons for this. Judge Tvigii made only objective decisions, criticized the case and tried to support all participants in the show as much as possible.
This happened in the 5th season of the show. The collaboration lasted until the 9th season. Tactful Twiggy taught models by example, recalling her shows and filming. Everyone listened to her opinion: judges, participants, television viewers. She was a true guiding light for the program.
The members rarely saw Tyra
While Tyra Banks often calls herself "mom" to the models on the show, the reality is that she is a very busy person who doesn't have time to be with the contestants often.

Talking about what it was like working with the supermodel, Season 9's Sarah Hartshorne shared, “I only saw her once a week, and there were a lot of us contestants. We couldn't just talk to her."
According to Angelie Preston, the original winner of the seventeenth season, it was impossible to get through to the host: “Tyra wasn’t with us. Most often we saw her during the show itself. Tyra never came to talk to us in person. When the cameras stopped rolling, she was like a stranger to us.” Angelie was exhausted after winning the show, but was stripped of her title when it was discovered that she used to make money as an escort.
Andre Leon Talley – editor of American VOGUE
In seasons 14-17 of the program, the colorful Andre Leon Talley served as one of the judges. His humor, comments addressed to the participants, and verbal battles with Tyra allowed the project to become popular again after a significant drop in ratings.
Andre and his manners returned the top model to its former high ratings
The editor of the American VOGUE professionally assessed not only everyday work. He approached the assessment of a high fashion photo shoot with particular trepidation.
Episode Ten: Dancing with Fire
Broadcast May 4, 2011. The tenth episode of the sixteenth season of America's Next Top Model begins with Jay Alexander. He arranged a meeting for the girls with Francia Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Italian Vogue. She looked through the participants' portfolios and answered all their questions.
Professional dancer Nur Talbi, together with Miss Jay, showed a master class in dancing with a tray on the head. And then the girls danced, holding cups with lit candles on their heads. Scandalist Brittany did an excellent job in this competition. And for this I got a dance lesson with Miss Jay.
The judges of the American Top Model of the sixteenth season criticized Alexandria's photographs to smithereens and she dropped out of the final race.
Rob Evans - model
Rob Evans, a male model who is currently at the peak of his popularity, came to the show as a jury member in season 19. In addition to judging, Rom takes an active part in working on the images of models. In particular, he helps girls during a nude photo shoot.

In season 21, Rob left the show, unfortunately for many millions of fans around the world. Instead, Jay Alexander once again became a judge on America's Next Top Model.
