Childhood and adolescence

The future star of Russian cinema was born on July 28, 1969 in a young family consisting of aspiring directors and actresses. The girl’s father, Vladimir Menshov, created one of the best films of Soviet cinema, “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears.” For this work he was awarded the highest award - the Oscar. Her mother Vera Alentova played the main character in this film. Vera Alentova’s parents were also artists. Thus, the future of Yulia Menshova was almost immediately decided.

The girl spent her childhood surrounded by actors, screenwriters, and directors. From an early age, she absorbed all the nuances of her future profession, listening to conversations, discussions of new productions and author's ideas. At first, the TV star learned the basics of acting in extracurricular activities, in amateur clubs, and took part in school plays.

She liked the art of transformation, so even as a child she dreamed of becoming a famous actress. However, in addition to this gift, Menshova had literary abilities. She wrote stories, kept a diary, and excelled in school essays. By the end of school, the girl had not yet decided on her future profession.

The girl’s father, due to her daughter’s little life experience, dissuaded her from becoming a writer. Then, my daughter decided to study journalism, but before the exams it turned out that this was not yet possible. First of all, it was necessary to submit three published articles, which she did not have, for a creative competition.

In order not to lose a year, Yulia enters the Moscow Art Theater School. An interesting detail: when our heroine was in the 9th grade, she decided to test herself as an applicant. In several theater schools, the girl passed the first two rounds of selection without much effort.

Family footage of very young Yulia can be seen in the video:

Children of Yulia Menshova

Julia became the mother of two beautiful children, whose father is Igor Gordin. It is impossible not to add that the children of Yulia Menshova became such a necessary detail that helped unite the spouses in a state of divorce.

The actors began spending time together again, and three years after the divorce, they again held a lavish wedding ceremony. The fans were incredibly happy and finally calm that their favorite was happy again.

Stellar career

At the Moscow Art Theater, the future star attended classes at the acting workshop of Alexander Kalyagin. In 1990, she graduated from the educational institution as a certified actress. A young woman is invited to join the troupe of the Chekhov Theater.

In addition to the theatrical stage, she will also make her film debut. A supporting role in the feature film “When the Saints Go Marching” marked the beginning of his creative biography. “The first pancake” did not turn out to be lumpy, so the actress began to be offered new work. In 1991, our heroine took part in the filming of the film “The Sukhovo-Kobylin Case”, and then played a role in the comedy “Act, Manya”.

The successes achieved should have inspired the actress to new achievements. However, the current situation in the country was very difficult, especially affecting cinema and the entire cultural sector. Almost no films were made, and there was a long stagnation in the field of cinema. Menshova left the cinema screens and theater stage in 1994.

Working on television

A new stage in a girl’s life begins:

  • 1994 - She tries herself as a TV presenter in the program “My Cinema,” the topic of which was close to her. The program aired on TV-6 Moscow and raised issues of cinema.
  • 1995 One of the most successful, well-known television projects of Yulia, as a presenter and producer, was the author’s program “I Myself.” For six years, the young woman brought to public discussion acute problems that worried many Russian women. The recognition of the viewing audience and fruitful cooperation with the TV-6 Moscow channel did not go unnoticed.
  • The talented TV presenter was highly appreciated by the guru of Russian television. She was offered the position of deputy director on her native channel in March 1997.
  • 1998 - she becomes a manager at the independent broadcasting corporation of Moscow, where she performed her duties for 3 years.
  • 1999 - Yulia is awarded “TEFI” for the television project “I Myself” as the best presenter.
  • 2001 – the TV star founded her own production center. She began hosting the program “Teach Me to Live,” which aired for a year.
  • October 2013 – author, host of the popular TV show “Alone with Everyone” on Channel One. The invited guests of the studio were foreign celebrities: Lara Fabian, Patricia Kaas, Pierre Richard and many famous compatriots. Among them were Alexander Gordon, Vladimir Pozner, Elena Drapeko, Nikolai Tsiskaridze and other cultural figures, politicians, and show business.

Journalistic abilities and previous work experience allow Menshova to discover and recognize the main characters as best as possible.

Personal life, friends, the costs of the profession - the guests of the program talk about all this frankly with Yulia, as with their friend.

Return to cinema, theater

After a long break, fans of Yulia Menshova's acting talent were fascinated by the new work. “Balzac's Age or All Men Are Theirs...” was released in 2004 and captivated the public. The actress played the main role in the film. In addition to her, Zhanna Epple, Alika Smekhova, Lada Dance, Vera Alentova, Andrei Sokolov took part in the filming. The series is reminiscent of the American film “Sex and the City” and tells the story of four friends seeking personal happiness.

Julia and other famous actors involved in the film again became popular and recognizable. And young, promising actors, thanks to the film, became famous. This was followed by other full-length films:

  1. 2006 – the feature film “Big Love” is released. The actress performs in tandem with Mikhail Porechenkov.
  2. 2008 - the host of the show appears in the image of a strict investigator in the film “The Crime Will Be Solved.”
  3. 2010 - a similar role in the film “The Seventh Victim”.

Another notable film in the biography of Yulia Menshova is “Hold Me Tight.” On the wave of popularity after successfully performed roles, our heroine returns to the theater stage. Here she acts as a director, once again pleasantly surprising her fans with a new facet of her talent. The television star took part in the production of the play “Love. Letters." A peculiarity, a remarkable fact of this project is that Vladimir Menshov and Vera Alentova played the main roles here.

The film “Between Us Girls,” released in 2013, tells the story of a family of three – a daughter, mother and grandmother. The measured, calm life of different women in the outback is shown from all sides. What makes them related, besides blood ties, is the not entirely joyful fact that they are still, or not yet, married.

Yulia Menshova's husband - Igor Gordin

Yulia Menshova's husband, Igor Gordin, is absolutely in no way inferior to his wife. For him, the path to fame was not easy and well-trodden, but he managed to achieve what he wanted. This actor has played in many popular films and has also received many prestigious awards. Among other things, Gordin is an Honored Artist of Russia.

According to Menshova, her husband, like any other native Petersburger, has some kind of special pride. This is probably why the actor never wanted to act for famous magazines, did not chase rave reviews from critics, and did not strive to constantly be at the peak of fame. Gordin became an actor not to become famous, but to do what he loved.

Igor is a couple of years younger than Yulia. It is noteworthy that he was born into a family far from cinema. His parents both received technical education, and they saw their son’s future the same way. But back in high school, Igor decided to go against the opinion of his parents and began playing in the school theater, feeling “at ease” on the theater stage.

He is currently a popular theater artist. He also appears in films, but much less often. In total, he played about three dozen roles in films, each of which was loved by the audience in its own way.

After meeting his future wife, Gordin realized that happiness can be found not only in his favorite job. They managed to get married, have children and get divorced, but ultimately realized that they would only be truly happy next to each other. Despite all his talents, Gordin is sometimes jokingly noted that he is better known to viewers as the husband of Yulia Menshova.

Personal life of a star

Julia was not a spoiled child; rather, on the contrary, she lacked parental attention and warmth. She grew up in a not very prosperous environment: her parents often quarreled and sorted things out. One day they decided to live separately from each other; their daughter was only four years old at that time. The young parents decided to temporarily send their daughter to her grandmother in order to protect the child’s delicate psyche.

How did the breakup of the young family actually occur, what was the reason? Menshov studied at VGIK during the day and tried to write scripts in every free minute, and at night he was forced to work part-time, for example, as a loader in a bakery. Alentova was pregnant, worked in the theater and dealt with all the everyday problems of the family.

Due to the constant employment of her parents, the girl was not given due attention, care and affection. The moment came when the couple decided to separate. They did not file applications for divorce, since in those years such an act was highly condemned by those around them and by Soviet society. Four years later, Vera and Vladimir began to live together again.

The TV presenter herself was in no hurry to get married, having learned from the example of her closest people what could await her in the future. Her choice settled on actor Igor Gordin, whom she married at the age of 27.

The couple had a son, Andrei, in 1997, and a daughter, Taisiya, in 2003. Oddly enough, the family life of the TV star repeated the scenario of her parents’ marriage. In the same way, without officially filing a divorce, she and her husband separated for four long years. However, they were confident in what they were doing and thought that they would never live together.

You can learn first-hand about the personal lives of the spouses, see their children - an adult son and a teenage daughter:

Banal fatigue, constant lack of sleep due to the crying of his little son Andrei, became the reason for the separation. Both spouses worked and barely slept at night. The actress also believes that Igor was hurt by the inequality of their origins, that his male pride suffered due to an unequal marriage. Julia did not attach any importance to the fact that she was of “blue blood”, coming from an illustrious family.

For maximum comfort for the children, so that they do not feel abandoned by their father and do not worry too much about this, Menshova proposed making an annual vacation for the whole family a mandatory tradition. In addition, Igor came to his children all the time.

One day, the couple’s hearts “melted” and were touched by the fact that their 2-year-old Taisiya made a touching request to her mother. After another visit to her dad, she asked her mom to let him stay with them. And so it happened, the family became complete again.

The Russian media started talking about family discord in 2012. The culprit of the hype herself did not comment on these messages that appeared. Her father and mother refused to discuss Yulia’s personal life.

The actress had a difficult relationship with her parents. She did not feel any spiritual closeness or kinship of souls with them. Famous parents practically did not talk to their only daughter about her problems, fears, and experiences. Menshova did not share her innermost thoughts, feelings, and desires with them. Even after graduating from university, being an adult and a colleague to her parents, she was unable to get close to them.

However, the TV presenter is grateful to them for the proper upbringing and the right direction in life. Vera and Vladimir raised their daughter according to all the canons of morality and justice. Vladimir Menshov recommended books for reading; theaters, museums to visit. The TV star read many books and became acquainted with many works of art.

According to the actress, there must be understanding, trust, and friendly participation in the family. Parents still must find an approach to their own children, be friends with them and find a “golden mean” between upbringing and providing freedom.

The TV star is a trendsetter, and her many fans imitate her. Sometimes their idol changes his haircut and experiments with his hairstyle. She created a beautiful short bob in 2016. The same haircut was worn by Victoria Beckham, the wife of the famous football player David Beckham and a self-sufficient, popular personality.

The TV show host then stunned everyone with her bold, new and at the same time elegant look. Charming and attractive Julia has nothing to do with plastic surgery. The secret of her youth and beauty lies in proper nutrition, excluding the consumption of meat and dairy products from the menu. The star loves to treat herself to honey and prefers food items such as green tea, fish, and fresh vegetables.

Menshova weighs 60-64 kg. with a height of 177 cm. She takes care of her face with certified products purchased at the pharmacy, and does not overuse makeup.

Family of Yulia Menshova

Currently, as mentioned above, the artist and TV presenter lives with her legal husband, actor Igor Gordin. She does not hide her family happiness one bit, although she is of the opinion that she suffered through it. Two beautiful children are growing up in the acting family - Andryusha and Taechka.

At first glance, Yulia Menshova’s family is a model of love and peace. They try to live in peace and harmony, and share their happiness with family and friends.
