Scriptonite: “I don’t want people under eighteen to listen to my songs”

Scriptonite today is one of the brightest rap artists in the post-Soviet space. His videos receive millions of views, and the tracks are played on the headphones of almost all young people. However, few people know that in his youth he did not finish his studies at college and for some time he had to work part-time at a gas station.

The image of a dropout boy from the Kazakh province does not fit well with Scryptonite, who is liberated and courageous on stage and in life. But his songs threaten any day to become the anthem of the current generation of young people.

5-tv.ru identified the main milestones of Scryptonite’s creativity and tried to answer the question of what exactly makes the rapper so different from other artists in the genre.

Adil Kulmagambetov

Kulmagambetov Adil Oralbekovich was born on June 3, 1990 in the village of Leninsky, Kazakhstan. The boy's father worked as an engineer, and in the future his mother will get a job as an operator at a gas station. In the meantime, she is nursing the baby. In addition to him, the family is raising a girl - Adil’s sister.

At school, Adil was an exemplary student. The teachers loved the boy, but, according to Scryptonite, he often annoyed them. However, at home he behaved exemplary. According to the artist, his parents raised him in strictness. The future star lived in her father's house until she was 18 years old. Until he reached adulthood, he was obliged to come home before ten o'clock in the evening, regardless of the time of year.

Despite working professions, Skripitonite cannot be called far from the creativity of his parents. It is known that his father in his youth was drawn to music: he had an operatic voice, sang, played the accordion. However, the dreams of becoming a professional artist were dashed by the death of his father, grandfather Scryptonite. Before his death, he made a promise from his son that he would become an engineer. Oralbek will keep his promise and receive two higher educations and become a mechanical engineer.

Adil Zhalelov

However, one day music appears again in the life of the Kulmagambetovs. This time Adil is interested in her. The father has a negative attitude towards his son's hobby. During this period, quarrels often arise between them. It gets to the point that the young man in his thoughts wishes his parent to die soon. As he grows up, he will begin to understand his father better. In one of his interviews, he even stated that at that time there was only music in his teenage head.

In one of his conversations with journalists, the singer even approved of his father’s actions when he punished him for disobedience with a belt or hose. They say that the young man should have come to his senses, and sometimes only the most severe methods helped him in this.

In addition to enjoying music, Adil enjoys drawing. However, the father insists that the young man receive a technical education. The man sees a use for his abilities in expressive art in the profession of an architect. Adil goes to college, but withdraws his documents already in his third year, which upsets his father. Before this, the young man changes his last name to his grandfather’s and becomes Adil Zhalelov.

Childhood and youth

The real name of the performer is Adil Zhalelov. The performer was born in northeastern Kazakhstan on June 3, 1990. Scriptonite spent his childhood in the village of Leninsky.

The performer believes that his love for music was passed on to him from his father. Once his father, Oralbek Zhalelovich, was a good performer, but at the behest of his father (Scryptonite’s grandfather) he studied to be an engineer.

Scryptonite's interest in rap began with Decl and his album "Street Fighter". No one expected that an exemplary student would begin to get involved in rap so seriously. He revealed his hobby to his class teacher, but the teacher tried to convince him and reduce his interest in this matter. But Scryptonite was too passionate about rap to just give it up. As a result, he continued his hobby, ignoring the protests of others.

The performer has never studied music professionally and has no musical education. As a child, he learned to play the guitar, but did not master it at a high level. As a child, Scryptonite was a very talented child and was involved in drawing, basketball and judo, but did not turn any of his hobbies into a future profession.

His father wanted his child to become an architect, and Scritonite went to study as a master artist in the city of Pavlov. There he learned to forge certificates, which his classmates signed in doctor's handwriting.

As a teenager, he assembles his first group and performs with it. So, at the age of 16, he performed for the first time at a city festival. The listeners were shocked by his performance, and Scriptonite began to gain popularity among residents.

In 2009, his popularity spread throughout all cities of Kazakhstan thanks to performances with his friend Anur. With him, in 2013, they posted a video on the Internet for the track “VBVVCTND” in the decoding “Everything that you gave us.” The clip quickly gained popularity and Scriptonite became a recognizable person not only in his native land.

Scriptonite produced the video himself. After which popular production studios became interested in him.

First steps in music

After being expelled from technical school, the young man gets a job at a gas station, where his mother once worked. At the same time, he has his own musical group, Jillz. After his work shift, he visits the guys and declares that in five years they will become heroes of Russian rap. Having become a famous performer, Scryptonite admits that he sincerely believed in what he said. However, he could not even imagine that they would work in Moscow together with Basta. However, having become a famous artist, Skryptonite will separate himself from Russian rap, speaking of himself as a Kazakh performer.

In addition to Adil, Jillz includes project co-founder Anuar (rapper Niman), Sayan Dzhimbaev (Truwer), Aidos Dzhumalinov (Strong Simphony), Azamat Alpysbaev (Six o) and Yuri Drobytko (Yurik Thursday or 104). As for Adil, he takes the pseudonym Scryptonite. Initially, he just liked the sound of the word. The singer added the prefix “tonit” after he came across another cartoon about Superman, whose weak point, according to the canon, is kryptonite. This is how the pseudonym of the future star was born.

"VBVVCTND"

The team releases tracks and receives the first wave of popularity. Music brings the group its first profit. At some point, the young man begins to earn some money, with which he can somehow help his family. At first these are very small amounts, but soon they increase to two thousand dollars. For a guy who has been pushed all his life for his passion for music, the opportunity to support his family through creativity is a great joy. Jillz are becoming increasingly popular among Kazakh listeners.

During this period, Scriptonite learns what popularity really represents. In the future, these lessons will help the artist deal more easily with the antics of fans and the annoying attention of the press.

Jillz released his first video in 2013. It was the film adaptation of the song “VBVVCTND”, which stands for “Choice Without Options - All That You Gave Us.” By uploading the video online, the guys didn’t expect even the slightest success. However, the video received huge support from users. Soon, various companies will contact the group for cooperation. After careful consideration, the team chooses GazGolder, a production center where Basta is a co-owner.

Having become a famous singer, Scryptonite will call this decision a turning point in his career and life.

Scriptonite: “I have no rules”

The discovery of the year, the face of Russian-language hip-hop - as they have not called the young rapper Scryptonite over the past year, aka Adil Zhalelov, whose debut album “House with Normal Phenomena” was appreciated not only by listeners, but also by the head of the music label “Gazgolder” Vasily Vakulenko, performing under the pseudonym "Basta". It was here - on the veranda of the headquarters of the creative association, which among themselves is simply called "Gas", that we met Scriptonite.

In the room, flooded with red light from colored glass, Adil behaves easily and relaxed: he greets his acquaintances with a handshake, orders whiskey with ice and offers to move to the terrace. In his songs he gives the impression of a tough, sometimes aggressive person, but in life he turns out to be open and extremely likable: even the children of Gaza employees, when they see Adil, rejoice and embrace him. Bazaar.ru talked with Skryptonite not only about music, but also about religion, attitudes towards women and, of course, fashion.

What music did you listen to when you were a teenager?

It all started with Decl, as I have said more than once, then Eminem. It was all over Rammstein, there was even a poster hanging in the room. My father almost ***** [killed] me for him. My father is very strict, everything was so Soviet. So, I got into everything a little bit, but mostly it was rap. Among the foreign ones, Eminem was popular at the time, then 50 Cent came from him, and through them Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and that's it. Then a little later I began to move away from Russian rap. At first, here was the problem: I could listen to Russian rap and not a single black one. A couple of years passed and it turned out that I couldn’t listen to a single Russian rapper or Eminem, only black ones.

What about other genres?

I started writing music at the age of 15. Then I started digging through all the records. I got to the bottom of the 1930s and listened to everything: jazz, funk, soul, neo-soul, rock, folk. Even the ethnic music is different.

To understand the history of its development?

Yes, and I realized that there is no bad music, there are bad performers and bad songs. In every direction you can find a lot of things that will make you shudder internally.

If you want fame, make sure you have credibility.

And from the last one, maybe Kendrick Lamar, whom you have said more than once that you really liked?

Well, with Kendrick, when the album To Pimp A Butterfly came out, I wouldn’t say that he got into the music, but rather more with the aesthetics. Moreover, they made such a psychedelic mixture of funk and jazz. It was strange on the one hand, because the album is not for everyone, but at the same time, thanks to its musical component, it shot very powerfully. I also like A$AP Rocky's album, there are a lot of good songs there. At Dr. Dre's album Compton, which passed by - I listened to eight songs from it constantly for a month, for me this is a huge number. The old man is just very cool. He gathers a bunch of people who seem to be unrelated to each other. Moreover, he manifests them in a way that they could not manifest themselves. There's King Mez, a very young dude. He's on almost every song, wrote most of Dr.'s lyrics. Dre on this album. I then listened to his solo tracks and realized, yes, he’s cool, he reads cool, but his music is boring.

Why boring?

Good beats, good rapping, interesting clips, but boring because he's a rapper and he's addictive. He may be reading a very interesting thing, telling something, but musically he becomes boring.

Is fame important for a musician, should it be in his life?

Yes, everything should be. It's just that many people are afraid to talk about things like fame and glory. Perhaps for some it became a bad cross, like some kind of stigma. But that's their problem. You decide for yourself how to carry it: along a good road, along a bad one, or neither here nor there. If you want fame, make sure you have credibility. So that when you come to her, they won’t tell you that you’re too greedy or that you’re making a career just because of this.

We are talking about fame, but at the same time you can rarely be seen at premieres or in gossip columns. Why?

Soon there will be an award for a men's magazine, of course, I will show up there as expected. Now I’ll find a tailor shop and make myself a suit that will simply blow everyone away.

Will you come up with the design yourself?

Yes, why not? I'm not afraid of such things at all. I just turn to them when it’s appropriate, when I can, in my time and place. And who will stop me from wearing a turquoise jacket if I want? People are just used to it, if they saw you in one thing, then they attached it to it as a style. For example, I went on stage several times wearing slippers, and now they think that’s my style. Everyone is trying to tie everything to something, but I don’t get attached to anything at all. If I like it, I do it, if I don’t, I don’t. I don't have any rules. In general, I never thought of going to, for example, an underground party - that’s my thing, but going to the red carpet is not. I still have to go there and declare myself as if I’ve been walking along this carpet all my life, and they’re all here for me.

Did you know from childhood that you would be a musician?

I knew this, and I didn’t even have the possibility that something might not work out. And not because I always had only successes, I just didn’t see myself as anyone else.

I’m listening to you, and it seems that you either studied at the psychology department or read literature on self-development.

By the way, I wanted to go there, but then I realized that I didn’t. I am interested in psychology, and people in general. Maybe it’s genetic: my father sees people well. Since childhood, he told me: “This is ***** [a bad person], but this one is good.” This turned out to be the case, even when I myself went against it. Then I noticed that I have the same ***** [nonsense] in my life. And all together, somewhere psychology, somewhere astrology, all these numbers, zodiac signs - everything is interesting to me.

Have you been immersed in all this?

Yes, I was little when I found a thick dream book: and everything is there - compatibility, incompatibility. Well, that's okay, then I moved away from it. At one time I was interested in NLP, at the age of fifteen I was interested in managing people (laughs). But in fact, you need to listen to yourself first. Our main mistake is when we go against ourselves. Cats, dogs, all animals have instincts, and they use them to the fullest, and we are all so ****** [very] smart.

T-shirt, jacket, trousers, everything - Dior; glasses, Ray-Ban.

Do you believe in God?

Roughly speaking, yes, but precisely not in God and not in religion. I know there is a higher power. I thank her for all my ups and downs. I know that I am addressing a specific object, and not somewhere in the air. These are all market relations: you gave, you got it. As always. If a lot of something has come to you, it means that you still have to give a lot, no matter how much you hide.

Have you already found the place where you feel most comfortable to be and make music?

No, I'm the prodigal son. There are, of course, places where it is most comfortable. Now it's at my house.

I know there is a higher power. I thank her for all my ups and downs.

What is your relationship with literature and poetry?

Thin ones are two or three books by Charles Bukowski and that’s it. Well, as a child I read Mario Puzo's The Godfather and Stephen King's Psych. “Clairvoyant” was generally useless information for me even as a child. Stupidly some ***** [garbage], this book was also big, it took me so long to read it. And my acquaintance with Bukowski happened like this: I came across a couple of quotes, and his style, roughly speaking, is mine. He just tells it like it is. When I read it, it’s as if I’m sitting with my grandfather—not with my own, but with an elderly friend. And he tells me how everything was before, and we laugh together, sometimes we are sad together.

Don't you like poetry?

In general, I have some kind of aversion to this Russian fairy-tale poetic syllable, when words are swapped and so on. This syllable has been carried over into all music, especially into Russian rap. And when you speak directly, people perceive you as if you are being clever. And you, on the contrary, wanted to put it more simply. The problem with a lot of rappers is that they often write for the sake of rhyming.

What are you for?

I write for myself, for the sake of music. I have now come to the point that I can write someone a line, a verse, a chorus, it doesn’t matter. And of course, it will be nice if my name is written, but if not, I’ll be fine. Because I know that if I like this job, then it’s enough for me just to know that I had a hand in it. And when I listen, I feel great that I was involved in it. Mine will come to me.

Judging by your creativity, you give the impression of an aggressive person...

I don't have any image. Yes, there is aggression. But did I at least say somewhere that I myself kick someone, put districts on their ears and so on, ***** [damn]? I can’t find a single word like this. When I write a song, I choose every word. Even if I understand that in the literal sense there is nothing funny, but this word can be ******** [remade] into a joke, and I won’t wait for someone to do it, I’ll just remake it myself. I don’t care, this is mine, this is my child. And other rappers even regret their words. The same goes for money: they read about it, but don’t want to spend money on their video. What are we even talking about if you feel sorry for yourself? If you feel sorry for yourself, who needs you ***** [why] anymore? There are a lot of things I don’t understand about rappers in general. They read one thing, but live differently. I don't read things until I live like that. When I'm having a blast, I write that I'm having a blast. But I don’t write this when I’m sitting and eating the last crust of bread. I’ll write about her. Who will blame me for this? That no one was in ****** [difficult] situations? I doubt.

When I'm having a blast, I write that I'm having a blast. But I don’t write this when I’m sitting and eating the last crust of bread. I’ll write about her.

What type of people do you consider yourself to be: calm or hot-tempered?

I want to be calm, but rather hot-tempered, but to the point. By the way, my father also has this temper. I have a lot going for it. No matter how much I want to be different from my father, in the end it turns out the opposite. For a long time I didn’t understand him at all. When you are still little, and your mother cries in front of your eyes, of course, the person who offended her seems bad to you. But when you grow up, you understand many things. You understand that it was difficult for a person in many places. You understand ordinary things, like female stupidity - it’s not good, it’s not bad, it’s just the way it is. A man has a hard time with a woman, but he takes her and the children and takes them out. He takes everyone out, stays here forever and raises you as a person. And you sit in **** [shock]: what a ***** [amazing] strong person you are. Now I simply idolize him, although as a child I wished for him to die out loud. I'm terribly ashamed of this. But I grew up, faced similar women like my mother, circumstances, difficulties. My father is a man who sacrificed his destiny because he was told what to do.

My grandfather, dying, asked him to go study as an engineer, although my father played the accordion and has an operatic voice. In his youth, he was attracted to different people, just as they are to me now. And his father is a veteran, he came back from the war with shot kneecaps, on crutches. When the war ended, he threw away his crutches and died a natural death a couple of years later. And when my grandfather died, the only person who did not cry was my father. At eleven years old he did not cry, not because he did not love him, but because he could not. The only time he told me this, I was completely dandy then, but I remembered it for the rest of my life. Again, I realized this thing quite recently. People leave, and you sit there and that’s it, that’s all your emotion. You can’t say anything, it’s not clear, you’re in a stupor: you’re neither here nor there. And what tears, if there can be no talk of wrong thoughts.

Bomber jacket, Louis Vuitton; T-shirt, Vetements (KM 20); trousers, Lemaire (KM 20); sneakers, Maison Margiela (SVMoscow); glasses, property of the artist.

Was your father a big influence on you?

My father became an engineer, received two higher educations, and has ideal mathematical thinking. He is the person who made me interested in music. I remember him sitting next to me, his good hand and me so small. He taps something, constantly these rhythms, triplets. And this person could become famous, just like me. But he didn’t, he sacrificed it all and became a slave, roughly speaking. How can you not respect such a person who sacrificed his whole life for you and your mother?

In your songs you paint a rather negative portrait of women and often use obscene language. Why is the woman in your work exactly like this?

I like women. I just can’t talk about it any other way, it would be flattery. Which woman is interested in this sugary romanticism? I doubt real women like it. All this nonsense is cloying—that’s why they created such a thing as gallantry. You can pull up a chair, offer your hand, open the door or something else, but at the same time you must be charismatic. You know who you are. You know that even if you are walking behind, you are still ahead.

You often call neurotic relationships love: “You’re back on your phone looking for messages from **** [available women] while I’m sleeping... This is love.” And in general, you almost always talk about difficult relationships, when people struggle and suffer.

Not necessary. The main thing is that they feel and experience. My songs are like letters, messages to a specific person, or just emotions. The song “This Is Love” is pure emotion. Then it seemed to me that all this was love. But now in my life it’s not love.

What is love?

Love is a degree of sympathy. When the sympathy is strong, when you go crazy. Has anyone been able to put love into the thesis? No. So why is everyone trying to fit it into a framework, and into their own? Not ones that would suit everyone. Love is all. And everything is love. It’s not for nothing that they say that there is no smoke without fire, and even my father told me the proverb: “If you don’t talk about the bad, you won’t see the good.” That's how it is. What kind of love can there be if everything is good in it? It’s more of an illusion, a picture that you came up with for yourself for a year, six months, maybe a month or a day in general. If you're not ****** [shaking], then what can we talk about?

Love is a degree of sympathy. When the sympathy is strong, when you go crazy.

That is, you think that there can be no absolutely happy relationship?

No, they can be. There are probably people who can do this. Just for the most part, I doubt it. Personally, I don’t believe in this, it can’t be like that for me. Even when everything happens the way I need it, I still doubt it, I can’t fully understand myself. I don’t know, I’m completely confused in the end (laughs).

Then let's talk about fashion, or rather its collaboration with music. If we talk about Russian performers, Oksimiron recently began collaborating with Reebok, and, of course, among foreign artists, this is Asap Rocky, the main guest of all fashion weeks and the face of the Dior men's line. How do you feel about this interaction between industries?

I love how A$AP Rocky integrated himself into this whole theme...

Would you like to collaborate with any brand yourself?

Of course, yes, but depending on who you're with. First you need to think: like it or not. After all, everything must have a sequence, not a formula, but a consistency in sensations.

To what extent is your external stage image a reflection of your internal one?

One hundred percent, because I don’t have a stage persona. I went on stage five times wearing slippers or flip-flops. At the last concert in Sochi, I walked out wearing white hotel slippers. In Kharkov, I went out in a hotel robe, because everything was in one place - the hotel and the club.

Do you listen to criticism?

If I understand that it is justified, then yes. If I feel that I myself doubted these moments, then, of course, I listen.

What I mean is that similar things are often written on social networks. By the way, how do you feel about social networks?

Terrible, I hate them. I block an average of thirty people a day.

As I understand, social networks are not a channel for you to communicate with fans. And then what?

I don't know myself. I don’t understand when people talk about what’s going on in their lives on social networks. You tell me? Why are you telling? What kind of ***** [nonsense]. These people ***** [don't care] about you. And then there are people who expose their personal problems there, and you think what kind of ****** [nonsense]. On Instagram, I just post beautiful photos that I like. No posts, no descriptions. I just liked the photo, I edit it and post it. It turns out to be a gallery of my photographs, no more and no less.

Confession

In February 2014, the rapper will announce himself as a representative of GazGolder. The next stage of Scryptonite’s career will continue in Moscow and give him all-Russian fame. Initially, the artist will take part in creating songs for the joint album of Basta and Smokey Mo. As part of the creation of the album, Scryptonite and Dasha Charusha are recording the composition “Cosmos”. The track will immediately take the leading position on iTunes and draw the attention of new listeners to Scryptonite. Later, the rapper became so bored with the composition that he refused to perform it at concerts.

Already in 2015, videos for the songs “Ice” and “Slumdog Millionaire” with the participation of Scryptonite were released. The videos receive millions of views on YouTube. Then the artist presents his debut album “House with Normal Phenomena”, which even beats the new album Oxxxymiron and loses only to the latest work of the singer Adele. A year later, Scriptonite was declared “Discovery of the Year” by GQ magazine.

Scriptonite will attract the listener with its original performance, which will be jokingly called drunken singing. The reading style of Scriptonite really seems to be muffled, and the words are often difficult to understand even for people with a perfect ear for music. Initially, such originality will cause misunderstanding among some of Scryptonite’s colleagues. Even the artist’s close associates admit to him that they are unable to understand the lyrics.

The singer himself will explain in one of his many interviews with journalists that he does not increase the volume of his voice on the recording in order to maintain the atmospheric sound. In addition, according to Scryptonite, his diction in everyday life is also far from perfect. Despite the nagging of colleagues, music lovers like his unique style of singing. The artist becomes one of the most extravagant Russian-speaking performers.

How Skripotnit left and rap returned

In 2017, Jillzay released the mini-album Open Season, but it soon became known that the project was closed. In its place, the Zorski music label appears. Scriptonite will take the place of producer of one of Zorski’s projects. It will be a joint album by rappers 104 and Truwer.

In the same year, Scryptonite released a double album: “Urobos: Street 36” and “Urobos: Mirrors”. The musician explained the name by the fact that it intersects the symbolic numbers three and six for him (Scryptonite was born on June 3. - Ed.). But urobos, according to the musician, is close to him with the concept of self-improvement through self-destruction. However, the joy of fans from the release of the idol’s new album did not last long.

On the day of the release of “Ourobosov,” Scryptonite told followers of his Instagram account that for him, rap as a genre had become obsolete. The singer promised to release new material on a limited basis for several years. It is noteworthy that during this period Scryptonite attributes his work to Kazakh rap and really does not like it when his music is called Russian rap. Today, the artist’s materials are neatly classified as Russian-language rap.

However, very soon the singer will return to where he started. A year later, Scryptonite will become a guest on the GazLive show, where he will announce the preparation of a new album. In addition, the artist noted that rap will also return. According to Scryptonite, he thought that he had written himself off as a rapper, but later it turned out that he had several rap compositions that he would like to share with fans. The musician then creates new material in this style and announces his return.

In 2018, the debut track from Skryptonite’s next project, Gruppa Skryptonite, was released. The track is called “Stupid and Unnecessary.” Music critics note its dissimilarity with the artist’s past works. In the same year, Scryptonite's contract with GazGolder expired. Finding himself in free float, Scryptonite not only did not fade into obscurity, but received a new round in his career thanks to numerous performances and new songs.

In addition, in 2019, the singer, together with Truwer, 104 and Dose, created the music label Musica36. As part of this project, the musicians will release more than one successful single. Scriptonite himself will have performances at large concert venues and unconditional love from the listener ahead.

Professional activity

Together with his friend Anuar (pseudonym Niman), Adil becomes a co-founder of the group “Jillz”. In addition to young people, the ensemble included Aidos Dzhumalinov, Sayan Dzhimbaev, Azamat Alpysbaev and Yuri Drobitko. During this period, Adil’s pseudonym, Scryptonite, appeared. He becomes a famous rap artist in Kazakhstan and gains a large number of fans.

The rapper's real popularity came when he released the video "VBVVCTND". The name was an abbreviation of the phrase “Choice without options is all you gave us.” Two production studios, Soyuz and Gazgolder, became interested in scriptonite.

Adil decides to collaborate with the producer, since the owner of the label was Basta, with whom they had a good relationship. As a result, their cooperation turned out to be very promising for both.

On February 24, 2014, Adil became a resident of the label. This year was a turning point in the rapper's career. By 2020, the number of Scryptonite fans has increased significantly. Among the artist’s bright singles, which are especially loved by fans of his work, are “Curls”, “Space”, “Yours”, “Not Welcome”, “Your Bitch”. In his hits, the most important thing for Adil is the sound of beautiful music.

The rapper also participated in the creation of the album of Smokey Mo and Basta, and collaborated with singer Yolka. His singles with Dasha Charusha and Pharaoh brought him great popularity. The rapper’s popular videos were “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Ice” (they quickly gained a large number of views on the Internet).

The artist’s first debut album was called “House with Normal Phenomena” (2015) , which became very successful for Adil. In 2020, he released the album “718 Jungle” as part of the group “Jillzay”.

Scryptonite’s second album, “Holiday on 36 Street” (2017), featured Nadya Dorofeeva, Basta and the group “Jillzay”. It was included in the list of the best albums in Russia. In the same year, the artist released his third album, “Ouroboros” (2017), which consisted of two parts: “Street 36” and “Mirrors”.

After some time , Adil announces in his interviews that he is leaving rap, since this style of music has outlived its usefulness as a format for him . The artist launches a new project “Gruppa Skryptonite”. At the same time, the Jillzay group grew into the (music) label Zorski. At this time, Scryptonite changes his lifestyle: he quits smoking, began to drink less alcohol, and began to play sports. I decided to devote several years to collaboration with different artists and joint projects.

From 2013 to 2020, Adil released 19 singles, periodically in collaboration with various artists.

From 2011 to 2020, he released 16 video works, the first of which was “What’s Happening” (2011) directed by Evgeniy Getman, and the last video was at the end of 2020 the work for the song “Stupid and Unnecessary.” Scriptonite also takes part in the videos of other artists.

In the fall of 2020, the artist became “Discovery of the Year” according to GQ magazine. In the same year, in the “Outside the Format” category, he received the “Real Music Box Award”. In 2020, Adil took part as a composer of music for the film “Smoke”, and in 2020 he participated in the film “Klubar” as an actor.

In 2020, Scryptonite continued to tour with his hits. In the fall of 2020, the premiere of the “Multi-Brand” video (Scryptonite feat T-Fest, 104, Niman) took place, which quickly collected millions of views. Today, the artist continues to engage in various experiments in the musical field.

Scriptonite in 2020

Scriptonite today is the brightest representative of the genre. His tracks still occupy leading places in the music charts. The artist’s touring activities take place in different parts of Russia. Music critics of various calibers call the artist nothing less than a phenomenon in Russian-language show business.

At the same time, not all industry experts perceive the artist’s songs as rap. Denis Boyarinov, music critic for Colta, calls Scryptonite a rocker. According to the journalist, only older people can understand the topics raised by the singer. And some compositions are filled with completely non-teenage paraphernalia: sex, illegal substances, as well as the eternal search for one’s own self.

The hero of the rapper's songs is often a character who has numerous relationships with women and a turbulent metropolitan life. An unprepared listener gets the impression that the singer is not very respectful of the weaker half of humanity.

Nevertheless, when asked by the press about how he treats women in real life, Scryptonite confesses his love for the fair sex. According to him, women are different: good, bad and even with low social responsibility. In his lyrics, the performer tries to call everything by its proper name.

However, in real life, Scriptonite does not always show such a deep understanding of female psychology. A loud scandal at his concert with the participation of a fan is proof of this.

Role in society and publicity

A significant event was Zhalelov’s concert in Kyiv at Stereo Plaza, since tickets were sold out long before the concert itself. The audience was pleased with the atmosphere and cool performance. In the summer of 2019, Scryptonite is on tour in several cities, so fans have a chance to get closer to their idol. The singer does not publish recent photos on Instagram, this is explained by the fact that the rapper hates social networks and does not want to expose his personal life and problems to the public. So there is practically no information about the artist there. New photos appear rarely, most often in the media. Very little is also known about the family, only that Adil has a son, Luchi.

Scriptonite swore at a fan at a concert

At a concert in Kazan in 2020, the artist cursed and ordered one of the fans to be taken out of the hall. During the singer's performance, one of the girls became ill. The musician ordered to lift her up onto the stage and distribute water to everyone. At that moment, another girl approached the stage and, laughing, pulled the rapper towards her by the laces. The singer scolded the listener with profanity.

Later, comments from concert guests appeared online. In their opinion, at that time among the visitors to the event there were too many drunk teenagers, who often did not behave in the most decent way. Users of social networks suggested that the girl who was pulling the musician’s shoelaces was intoxicated. In addition, the guests of the concert noted that at that time there were more visitors in the hall than usual. Perhaps one of the guests became ill precisely because of the lack of fresh air in the room.

But Scryptonite’s reaction to the actions of a persistent fan divided network users into two camps. Some believe that the singer was simply arrogant. Allegedly, he disgraces the profession of an artist by demonstrating such an attitude towards fans. However, there were also those who came to the rapper’s defense.

According to representatives of the second camp, the girl herself is to blame for the fact that she was reprimanded in front of the crowd, and even in an obscene tone. The artist risked falling off the stage and receiving serious bruises, or even injuries.

At the same time, in the video from the concert, you can hear that Scryptonite is outraged not only by the girl’s attempt to pull him off the stage, but by her unhealthy reaction to the fact that one of the guests of the event became ill. She just stood there and laughed, which especially infuriated the musician.

However, the love of fans still accompanies the singer. More than the tour schedule and new songs with videos, they are, of course, interested in the informal side of the life of their favorite musician.

Personal life

Despite the image of a cheeky and confident man on stage, in life the singer is not used to standing out. He categorically does not understand the fashion of flaunting his personal life through social networks. And in childhood, according to the musician, he rarely met girls himself. More often than not, they took the initiative. According to the artist, he lost his virginity at the age of 18 and for love.

As for his subsequent personal life, the press knows about Scryptonite’s short-lived affair with artist Marta Merems. According to some sources, the couple met at GazGolder, where the girl came to work after being an art director in one of the elite Moscow beauty salons. The couple was often seen at events. According to rumors, the song “Love” is dedicated to her. However, this relationship never developed into marriage.

The singer's next passion turned out to be Nigora Abdiganieva. Longtime fans of the artist know the girl from the rapper’s first videos, when he was not yet so popular. Nigora is an active Instagram user. On her social network page you can often see pictures of dance rehearsals. Apparently, the girl was part of the rapper's troupe. Even if this relationship does not develop into marriage, Nigora and Adil will have a son, Luchi. True, this will not save the couple from separation.

Even though the father will transport the child and mother to Moscow, they will not stay there for long. Soon Nigora will return to Kazakhstan and take up dancing again. As for their relationship with Adil, the only thing the couple has in common, apparently, is a child.

Adil Kulmagambetov, aka rapper Scriptonite, was born on June 3, 1990 in the village. Leninsky in Kazakhstan. The rapper's father was also interested in music, but only during his childhood. He wanted his son to become an architect in the future. The family was against Adil's decision to become a rapper. That’s why the guy did things in spite of his loved ones.

The guy began his path to the top of the rap industry when he was young. At the age of 11, he became very interested in Decl’s work, and every day his desire to become famous only grew. All this led to the desire to create tracks personally. I must admit that he does it really well.
