Vladimir Gusev. What happened to the handsome actor?

Biography

Alexey Guskov was born into the family of a military pilot.
Until he was six years old, he lived with his parents in Poland, and then his family moved to Kyiv. A year later, Alexei's father died. As the actor himself recalls, he learned about the death of “military pilot Gennady Guskov while on duty” from a tattered telegram that his mother hid for quite a long time. Since childhood, Alexey had a passion for sports. He was involved in weightlifting, football, basketball and even rowing. For the first time, Guskov Jr. was made to think about the career of a professional actor by the words of his then mathematics teacher. Being a passionate theater fan, the woman noted a special talent in the sixteen-year-old boy and advised him to try himself as an actor.

I liked the idea and Alexey began participating in various school productions, as well as attending extracurricular theater classes. True, after graduating from school, Guskov goes to Moscow and enters the Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School, where he studies less than five years.

In parallel with his studies, he began acting in the student theater. At this time I often went to various performances and performances. One day he saw Alexei Petrenko on stage, whose performance captivated the young guy so much that Guskov decided to take the documents from Baumanka. In 1979, he entered the Moscow Art Theater School to study the course of theater director and teacher Viktor Monyukov.

Actor Vladimir Gusev has passed away

The star of the films “Soldier Ivan Brovkin” and “Carnival Night” gave one of his last interviews to Express Gazeta.

Vladimir GUSEV.

On February 7, at the age of 79, the famous Russian film actor Vladimir Mikhailovich GUSEV died.

The fate of this interesting person, the actor, was very difficult. After graduating from VGIK in 1957, Vladimir began actively acting. Viewers well remember the blue-eyed handsome man from the films “Soldier Ivan Brovkin”, “Carnival Night”, “Girl with a Guitar”, “Katya-Katyusha”, “Normandie-Niemen”, “Hussar Ballad”, “A Man is Born”, “Major Whirlwind” , “Resident Error”, “Proceed with Liquidation” and many others. But it so happened that for many, many years he did not act at all. Or it wasn't filmed. “Difficult character,” some directors said. “He has no charisma,” others complained. “He drinks, he disrupts his schedule,” a third complained. One way or another, Vladimir Mikhailovich Gusev starred in 55 films throughout his long acting life.

Straight Talk

We first met Gusev in February 2003. It is interesting that by that time not a single word had been written about him in the press.

We sat down at the Cinema House restaurant. They slapped the glass. Then one more. A conversation ensued. Here is the last and perhaps only interview of this wonderful actor. A very modest interview. But honest.

How will we address each other, dear Vladimir Mikhailovich?

— Following the example of Nikolai Kryuchkov, who called absolutely everyone “you,” let’s try the same? The pronoun “you” in Russian has a plural form. The meaning appears when the speaker sees many people in front of him. “I’m coming at you!” - said the Russian prince Yaroslav the Wise, that is, to you. It seems the Germans brought this kind of treatment to our region. In Russia, from time immemorial, even the Tsar-Father was called “you.” True, in America they also poke everyone, that’s how their language works. But Americans cannot be called a nation.

I had to replace Oleg Efremov

— When you were young, did you have many offers to act?

— Many roles have been played, but not all of them are equal. In 1956, Vasily Ordynsky, without auditioning, invited me to the main role in the film “A Man Is Born.” There was some kind of Mosfilm intrigue going on with this film. Oleg Efremov and Lyusya Gurchenko , who at that time was Ordynsky’s wife, were supposed to play the main roles and even began filming But the director of Mosfilm, Ivan Pyryev , after watching the test material, balked and closed the film. The chief director had to recruit a new cast. Olya Bgan and I started filming together "Man" was her first film. In general, this talented actress has a tragic fate. Olya always seemed very withdrawn, somehow embittered, scared. Maybe that’s why she looked wary on screen. This film is shown quite often on TV. At that time, I received bags of letters from viewers with words of gratitude.

— What was the last film you played in?

— Play? It’s too strong a word for such a thing: about five years ago I was simply busy at Ermak. Offers to act sometimes still come today. But when you start reading these, so to speak, “script opuses,” they do not stand up to any criticism. For example, a person on the screen swears, there’s as much “art” as you like. And to be honest, I don’t have the strength anymore. I deliberately left cinema. If, of course, they offer a decent scenario, you can get together through force. Mikhail Andreevich Gluzsky played until the very last day, and this did not improve his health. But I never became a leader and never aspired to be one. I don't like to stick out. Besides, I’m a fatalist, which means I really believe in fate!

- But what about people's love, fame?

- Glory, popularity, Pushkin wrote about this - smoke. Over time, everything disappears. You know better than me how and what popularity is created today!

In the film “Hussar Ballad”

— Do you feel that you haven’t fully developed yourself as an actor?

“Only an actor can feel such a state: when every time after a shoot or performance you begin to replay the entire action within yourself several times over again. It costs a lot of effort and nerves. In cinema, the tension in front of the camera is much greater than on stage. Now I watch my films and see places where I missed. And nothing can be fixed.

Few people know that I once started filming in “Gloomy River” in the role of Prokhor Gromov. And then he broke his leg on camera, although several serious scenes had already been filmed. But director Lapshin could not wait. This could be a very meaningful role for me. Apparently not fate.

— Were there any other roles that didn’t take place?

— There is a painting by director Dvigalin , which is still unknown on what shelf it lies. It's called "Uralsk on Fire." About twenty years ago this film was accused of nationalism. I played a bandit, a fierce counter-revolutionary, who always walks around with a revolver and shoots from around the corner all the communists who come to hand. Speaking purely from an acting perspective, the so-called negative roles are very convenient to play; there is something to latch onto in them. I remember playing the bandit Valka Krest in the film “Proceed with Liquidation.” Every day, a tattoo “I’m right!” was drawn on my left arm. The inscription was my special pride.

Received the title of Honored by accident

— When did Vladimir Gusev receive the title of People's Artist of Russia?

- Who will just give me this title? You have to ask, walk around people, bow at someone’s feet. I got what I deserved by accident. It’s just that one day at some event, film officials were very surprised to learn that I had no title, and asked me to write a statement.

— At one time, you played blond handsome men, about whom people now say on every corner that they are sex symbols. Who and what do you like on screen today?

“I don’t have the patience to look at screen disgraces.” I'm not a prude; I enjoy looking at nudity. But why do you have to trivialize everything? If we talk about sex, then it is a kind of sacrament. The animals leave to perform the act of copulation in solitude. It’s unclear why people exaggerate intimate details and drag them onto the screen. This has nothing to do with art. I was never offered to play bed scenes. True, the time was different then.

— What is the most significant thing that remains in your memory during your long life?

— Communication with beautiful, kind people. We used to rush in the “Red Arrow” together with Fima Kopelyan or Vladislav Strzhelchik to Leningrad for filming. We are sitting in a restaurant, having a nice conversation with some cognac. These actors, in addition to being wonderful people, told different stories in amazingly imaginative ways. They didn’t close their eyes until Peter himself. Our bedding in the compartment remained untouched.

- And what about love?

- What about love? He has been married to his Valentina Ivanovna for 44 years. The need to change my spouse never arose. The son works as an operator. Two grandchildren are growing up. The eldest is already finishing college. That's where love is!

Theater

In 1983, Alexey Guskov received a diploma and entered the troupe of the Moscow Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin. His acting debut took place in the play “I am a Woman” based on the play by Viktor Merezhko.

In 1986, Guskov went to work at the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, where he worked for two years. In 1988-1991 he performed at the Detective Theater and the N.V. Gogol Theater. In 1994 he returned to the Moscow Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin.

In 2003, Alexey Guskov became an actor at the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov, on the stage of the theater he played Ivanov in the drama based on the story by Andrei Platonov “The Return” and Louis the Great in the play based on the play “The Cabal of the Saint” by Mikhail Bulgakov. For several years he taught acting at the Moscow Art Theater School.

Currently, the actor collaborates with the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theater, plays in the performances “People as People” based on the drama by Maxim Gorky and in the sitcom “Business as Usual” based on the play by Ray Cooney (David Mortimer). In total, during his theatrical career, Alexey Guskov performed about 30 dramatic roles.

Son of Alexey Guskov - Vladimir Guskov

The son of Alexei Guskov, Vladimir Guskov, was born in 1989 in his second marriage. He graduated from the Shchukin Institute and became a theater actor.

Vladimir serves in the troupe of the popular Mayakovsky Academic Theater. Recently, the guy tried his hand at cinematography, playing a small role in the TV series “Marked”.

Vladimir did not stop there, he decided to get a second education and entered the Institute of Cinematography. Guskov Jr. strives to become a producer. Married, has a daughter Stefania.

Movie

In 1985, Alexey starred in the film “The Personal File of Judge Ivanova,” which became the first in his film career. After a successful debut, new films followed, the most successful of which was the film “Wolfhound”. Having played the role of a bandit, Alexey Guskov became very popular, but such fame also had a downside. Over the next few years, the actor was offered only roles reminiscent of his character from the film Wolfhound.

Trying to somewhat move away from the boring “gangster” image, the actor left cinema for some time, but in the late nineties he began acting again. Some breakthrough for Alexey Guskov was the role of a talented billiards player in the film “Classic”. Guskov’s most striking acting work during this period was the television film “Border: A Taiga Romance” directed by Alexander Mitta. “I am very happy that Alexander Naumovich, having traveled abroad, finally returned to his native land and did brilliantly what he knows how to do. He turned his attention to television, but this is also normal, because the cinema audience is 100,000 viewers. And on television you are watched by 100 million. And what he could do wonderfully in feature films, he did simply wonderfully in the series,” the actor said in an interview with Echo of Moscow.

After “Border,” Guskov’s career took off sharply. In total, during his creative career, Alexey played more than 40 film roles. Among the actor’s most successful film works were the films “Garbage Man”, “Beyond the Wolves”, “Ragin”, “Hunting for the Red Deer”, “Father”, “The One Who Puts Out the Lights”, “Concert”, “Hide!”, “ Tula Tokarev”, “Four Days in May”, “Coma”, “Saboteur 2: End of War”, “White Guard” and others.

Actor from God

The last film in which Vladimir Gusev took part was the film “Ermak” (1996), where the actor played a Cossack. After that, he left cinema once and for all. Years later, in rare interviews, he admitted that from time to time he received offers to act in films, but life principles and conscience never allowed the actor to stoop to low-grade scripts. In general, Vladimir Gusev is an actor from God, and it should be said that he came to the silver screen along with a whole group of outstanding artists, beautiful, young, who identified themselves with life and a bright future in the post-war years of instability and difficult existence. Among Gusev’s colleagues in the workshop one can name Vyacheslav Tikhonov, Yuri Belov, Georgy Yumatov. And this “fresh blood” inspired confidence from the screens that everything would be fine. In the 50s In the 20th century, a huge number of films about young people were made in the Soviet Union.

In parallel with filming, Gusev served in the Film Actor's Studio Theater for almost thirty years (from 1959 to 1988). In addition, the actor was involved in dubbing numerous foreign films. His voice can be heard in more than twenty films.

Personal life

The actor does not like excessive hype around his person: “I have made it a rule to read less about myself, hear less, know less. These are such candy wrappers - what’s happening around the profession.” However, a lot is known about the personal life of this person.

Alexey got married for the first time while still a student at the Moscow Art Theater School. His wife was the girl Tatyana, whom he met on the street. From this marriage, Guskov has a daughter, Natalya, with whom Alexei maintains a warm relationship.

Guskov’s second wife for many years has been the actress of the Moscow Vakhtangov Theater Lidiya Velezheva. This is a strong marriage that has stood the test of time. The family has two talented sons - Vladimir and Dmitry. Volodya graduated from the Shchukin School, became an actor and now plays at the Vakhtangov Theater. Dima studies at VGIK. He dreams of following in his father's footsteps and becoming a producer.

Actor Gusev Vladimir: personal life

The talented young man met his future wife Valentina (born in 1934) while preparing for entrance exams to the university. In 1958, the young people got married, and on May 4 the couple had a son, Sergei.

Vladimir Gusev is an actor who was surrounded by the attention of many famous film actresses. He cheated on his wife multiple times. But Valentina Ivanovna’s flexible character and her ability to forgive helped save the marriage.

Despite the betrayals, Vladimir’s only beloved was his wife. Gusev was often jealous of Valentina. The position of director of the CSDF (Central Studio of Documentary Films) obliged her to communicate with the country's top government officials.

Vladimir Gusev attributed to his wife an affair with General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev. However, all this could not destroy a strong family. The couple lived together in love until their golden wedding, which they celebrated in 2008.

During his successful career, the artist starred in many films. Let's get acquainted with the most popular ones.
