Biography
Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Ushakov is the oldest actor of the Moscow Satire Theater. But the main title that he bore and with which millions of people knew him was the husband of actress Vera Vasilyeva. Maybe Ushakov is not such a stellar personality as his wife, but older viewers love his foreman Maxim Orlov from the comedy “Dowry Wedding”; more than one generation of children remembers the stunning timbre of the voice of Kaa the Boa from the cartoon “Mowgli”. And the love story of Ushakov and Vasilyeva is a separate legend.
Family and children of Vladimir Ushakov
Almost nothing is known about the actor’s childhood and adolescence. In Soviet times, it was quite difficult to find out anything about your favorite actor, because newspapers did not publish articles about personal life, and there were no programs about actors on television. In addition, Vladimir Ushakov was a rather modest and private person; he believed that his life should be discussed primarily in his roles.
All his life he loved only one woman - his wife. When they met, the actor fell in love with the girl at first sight and courted her beautifully for three years. Even Moscow newspapers talked about their luxurious wedding, which was completely unusual for that period. They were so suitable for each other that there was no place even for children in their world. Vera Vasilyeva, like her husband, devoted her entire life to her career and theater, and even today, at 92 years old, she plays in the theater and goes on stage. The family and children of Vladimir Ushakov are, first of all, his wife and the characters he played, which the artist never hid.
Childhood and youth
Vladimir Petrovich Ushakov is a native Muscovite, born on June 1, 1920. Like most artists of the older, almost bygone generation, information about his childhood years was not preserved in Ushakov’s biography. It is only known that the parents worked at the factory.
Just before the start of the Great Patriotic War, Vladimir graduated from the Boris Shchukin Theater School. The traditions and culture of the Vakhtangov school were instilled in students by Vera Lvova, Cecilia Mansurova, and Joseph Tolchanov.
Vladimir Ushakov in his youth
After graduating from college, Ushakov was enrolled in the staff of the Drama and Comedy Theater. But from there the actor moved to a branch of the Maly Theater. Together with his colleagues from the front-line brigade, he traveled to the fronts, helping to maintain the morale of the soldiers. After the victory, from 1947 to 1950, Vladimir worked in Potsdam at the Theater of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany. Upon returning to his homeland, he worked for two years in the theater under the direction of Mikhail Astangov (now the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theater). Since 1952, Vladimir Petrovich served at the Satire Theater, to which he remained faithful for almost 60 years.
Height, weight, age. How old is Vladimir Ushakov
Vladimir Petrovich lived a long life and died at the age of 91. During his life, he went through a lot, saw the Great Patriotic War, repressions, the Khrushchev Thaw, perestroika and the collapse of the USSR, and died in modern Russia.
After the death of this great actor, other artists spoke a lot about him, paid tribute, and many good words were said about Ushakov as a person and an actor. The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, also expressed condolences to his family. The artist’s characters live on the screen today, and viewers still remember his name and are interested in his work and life. They don’t even ignore his height, weight, age, how old Vladimir Ushakov was at the time of his death.
Movies
There are few main roles in the filmography of Vladimir Ushakov. The actor’s debut was the role of sailor Sergei Markin from the cruiser “Kirov” in Alexander Faintzimmer’s film “Naval Battalion” produced in 1944. The film told about the defense of Leningrad.

In 1953, the role of collective farm foreman Maxim Orlov followed, which made the artist a star of the Soviet screen. The film “Wedding with a Dowry” was loved by the audience, and the songs “On Your Porch” and “Kurochkin’s Couplets” were sung without exaggeration by the whole country.
Initially, “Wedding with a Dowry” was a performance based on playwright Nikolai Dyakonov’s play “Wedding,” which was sold out on the stage of the Satire Theater since 1949. The main roles were already played by Ushakov and Vasilyeva.

After the incredible success of the theatrical production, directors Tatyana Lukashevich and Boris Ravenskikh shot a film version. And I must admit, they were not mistaken in choosing the same actors.
In 1959, Vladimir Ushakov got a minor role in the next television version of the Satire Theater play, this time “Nude with a Violin.” The format of the television play was widespread in those years; television viewers saw productions of “The Inspector General,” “Little Comedies of the Big House” (Shubin), “The Importance of Being Serious” (Merryman) with the participation of Ushakov.

Vladimir received his next film role, and only an episodic one, in the film “Georgy Sedov,” released in 1974. The historical and biographical picture told about the preparation and progress of the expedition to the North Pole, organized by the Russian explorer of polar latitudes Georgy Sedov.
In another episode, Vladimir Ushakov appeared in the television film “Last Year’s Quadrille,” filmed by director Yuri Tsvetkov in 1978. The film tells the story of students who came to practice in the village. Friends Lenya and Yura met a girl Tonya and argued which of them she would love.

In 1982, the premiere of the television version of the play “The Inspector General” took place at the same Satire Theater. The director of the version was Valentin Pluchek, who was then the chief director of the theater. And Vladimir Ushakov played the role of bailiff Stepan Ukhovertov in the company of theater stars - Vera Vasilyeva, Andrei Mironov, Mikhail Derzhavin, Anatoly Papanov.
In 1985, Vladimir Petrovich appeared in the role of Viktor Klyachko in the film “The Midday Thief,” part of the well-known series “The Investigation is Conducted by Experts.” Elsa Lezhdei, Leonid Kanevsky and Georgy Martynyuk shone in one of the first Soviet TV series.

In the 90s, the actor acted in few films, and there were no significant roles at all. In 1990, it was the fairy tale “The Dream Seller,” and in 1995, a minor role in another children’s film about talking dogs, “Without a Collar.” This film won prizes at several children's and youth film festivals.
In the same year, Vladimir Ushakov was involved in the detective series “Weekend with a Detective,” filmed by the popular actor and director Alexander Blok.
In the 21st century, Ushakov almost did not appear on the theater stage due to illness - the actor had a pacemaker implanted. Some sources say that Vladimir Petrovich played in an episode of the comedy series “Bachelors” in 2004 and in the short video film “Hunger”, shot in 2009 by the young director Marina Gavrilova. However, both films featured the Belarusian actor Vladimir Vasilyevich Ushakov, founder and artistic director of the Modern Art Theater in Minsk.
Only in 2010, Vladimir Ushakov starred in the documentary film “Vera Vasilyeva. The Secret of Her Youth”, released for his wife’s anniversary.

Personal life
Vladimir Ushakov and Vera Vasilyeva lived together for 55 years, and the stamp in their passports appeared only 7 years after they declared themselves spouses, when it was necessary to draw up documents for an apartment. And they put the rings on when they celebrated the half-century anniversary of their marriage. Their delicately enthusiastic relationship was perceived by others as a model and was the subject of envy.
Ushakov and Vasilyeva met at a rehearsal of the play “Wedding with a Dowry.” Vera Kuzminichna was already a famous, sought-after actress, and also in love with director Boris Ravenskikh. And Ushakov was married to classmate Nina Garskaya.
Vladimir Ushakov and Vera Vasilyeva
Vladimir Petrovich turned out to be patient and persistent; he waited for the consent of his beloved woman for several years, although he knew well that there was no great mutual feeling on Vera’s part. Moreover, Vera said in numerous interviews that Ravenskikh will forever remain her greatest love. But the actress highly valued and treasured her husband, admitting that she felt like she was behind a stone wall.
It is generally accepted that in a family where the husband and wife are creative, gifted individuals, someone must give in and sacrifice their own ambitions. Throughout his life, Vladimir Petrovich supported Vera Kuzminichna’s desire to be in demand and loved not only by him.
Vladimir Ushakov and his wife Vera Vasilyeva
Ushakov provided his wife with an almost bohemian life, freed her from housework, accompanied her on social occasions, and attended performances in the theater. At the beginning of their family life, they even hired a housekeeper so that Vera would not stand at the stove. In numerous photos that can be found on the Internet, the married couple always looked elegant, always with a smile, surrounded by fans.
For the last ten years of his life, Vladimir Petrovich was ill - he suffered a stroke, eye surgery, and three heart attacks. Vera Kuzminichna was assisted in her care by her goddaughter Dasha Miloslavskaya. Vasilyeva and Ushakov did not have their own children.
Instagram and Wikipedia of Vladimir Ushakov
Vladimir Ushakov died in 2011 from a heart attack. The man had heart disease for the past five years and no longer appeared on stage. Colleagues and close friends of the couple of actors visited Vladimir Petrovich at home and told him what was happening in his favorite theater in order to somehow cheer him up, but the actor’s condition did not improve.
Today, the Satire Theater page on Instagram and Wikipedia of Vladimir Ushakov contain many photographs of the famous actor, information about his life and work, as well as a list of his works in cinema.
Mom and grandma
Valentina Alekseevna spent her entire life caring for her sons, and then three grandchildren. She knew how to combine family life and a film career. The sons more than once disturbed the mother’s heart: filming in war zones and on distant continents is dangerous work.
Valentina Alekseevna died in 2012 from a stroke, having outlived her husband by 15 years. She was buried together with her husband at the Preobrazhenskoye Cemetery.
Actress Valentina Ushakova, whose biography and personal life were an example for the younger generation, left a noticeable mark on the history of cinema.
50s looks
Directors loved Ushakova for her bright appearance and offered her the roles of young society ladies of past centuries. Acting in adulthood, the film actress participated mainly in small episodes.
Having played Galina Kartashova in the film “Replacement Player”, she became one of the best actresses of that time. The main roles in the film were played by: Georgy Vitsin, Pavel Kadochnikov, Vsevolod Kuznetsov.
In 1954, the film “We Must Not Forget” was released in wide release. The already famous actress Ushakova played the role of Galina Korshun. Her stage partner was the future hero of Soviet cinema, Vyacheslav Tikhonov. Then there was the role of Jen in the film “Silver Dust”, but unfortunately, the picture has not survived to this day.
There are more than 70 roles in total - and all small. Subsequently, film actress Ushakova was given the unspoken title of master of the episode.
In the film “Different Fates” (1956), Ushakova embodied the image of Vera Zubova, the girl who saved the hero of the film from unrequited love. The main male role went to Julian Panich.
The film also starred: Tatyana Piletskaya, Tatyana Konyukhova, Georgy Yumatov. The film was loved by many viewers for many years; tickets for the screening were sold out instantly.
