Andrey Borisovich Rozhkov is a comedian, TV presenter, screenwriter, captain of the KVN team, former head of the creative association “Ural Dumplings”, and now a member of the duet “Your Dumplings”.

In the spring of 2020, the comedy “Lucky Chance” directed by Roman Samgin, which was created according to the script by Zhora Kryzhovnikov, was released. The film tells how a simple resident of Yekaterinburg discovered a winning lottery ticket and decided to run away with friends to Moscow to spend the money calmly, without their wives. The film grossed $2.1 million at the box office, despite mixed reviews. At the end of August, the television premiere of the film took place on the STS channel.
Andrey Rozhkov still continues to work in the creative association “Ural Dumplings”. In 2020, the artist became the director of the team. The team's concerts are currently broadcast on the STS channel. Childhood
The future extraordinary comedian was born in Sverdlovsk on March 28, 1971, in a working-class family.
As a child, he was a very inquisitive child: he loved to watch his father make crafts and repair a car. When one day his aunt came to visit them with a Japanese automatic umbrella, the boy quietly retired to the bathroom and disassembled it into parts, trying to figure out the principle of operation of the unusual mechanism. He failed to assemble it again, but the adults realized that there was an engineer growing up in their family. Later, he attended a circle of young technicians and was moderately hooligan, making automatic shooters, scarecrows, and flying rockets with his friends.

Andryusha also liked to spend time with his grandparents, who lived in the village: some in the Moscow region, others in the Urals. He loved to go with them to the forest to pick mushrooms, berries, nuts, run barefoot on freshly cut grass, herd cows, and fish.
When, at the age of 6, he went on vacation with his parents to Anapa, he saw the sea for the first time and was indescribably delighted. Then he learned to swim, although he took a lot of water while doing it. Andrei’s favorite books in those years were “The Silver Hoof” and “The Stone Flower” by Pavel Bazhov.

In the third grade of school, he was fond of swimming - he could freely swim 50 meters underwater. He was seriously involved in judo and had a sports rank, loved skiing, and participated in amateur performances.
The future artist’s debut appearance on stage took place as part of a school propaganda team. They made parodies of school life and teachers. According to Andrey, the audience then cried with laughter.
Career development
Having received a certificate of secondary education, the young man entered the mechanical and mechanical engineering faculty of the local polytechnic. He chose welding technology as his specialty.
Andrey Rozhkov really wanted to get into the construction team
Even when he was an applicant, Andrei dreamed of getting into a construction brigade, so already in his first year he hurried to join this elite student movement. True, his first attempt to become a construction worker was unsuccessful. He completed the young fighter course and initiation rite in the Altair detachment, but then he was expelled from the team, where there was a very tough selection. By the way, the members of Altair later very much regretted this circumstance.
But in another construction team, “Horizon,” he immediately fell in line, met real friends and like-minded people there, and then remained in its ranks for six years.
Andrei Rozhkov at KVN Institute, according to some sources, he graduated, but according to others, he did not (allegedly, even on the third attempt he could not defend his diploma). Then he worked, but not as an engineer, but as a construction worker, where the salary was higher.
In 1993, he and other construction brigade members (Dmitry Brekotkin, Sergei Isaev, Dmitry Solovyov, Sergei Ershov), while relaxing at the Rainbow summer camp, came up with an incredibly funny number and performed it at a humorous evening, causing genuine delight in the audience. Inspired, they created the KVN team “Ural Dumplings”. In 1995, he was elected team captain. In his new capacity, he participated in the games at the festival in Sochi, where their first major success awaited them - access to the Major League. Then, for several years in the “big” KVN, they never tired of surprising fans of humor with their sparkling performances.

Rozhkov became the most noticeable and recognizable player, a brilliant author of many incredibly positive and amazing numbers. In 2000, the team became the winner of the Major League, earning the unofficial status of “The Last Champions of the 20th Century.” Among the achievements of the Yekaterinburg residents was also the “KVN Super-Champions Cup” and five prizes from the “Voting KiViN” festival.

Andrey Rozhkov was born on March 28, 1971 in the city of Yekaterinburg. The boy grew up in an ordinary family. But things were good with humor. The parents turned out to be cheerful people: they loved to joke themselves and laugh heartily at other people’s jokes. They approached raising their son philosophically: they allowed him to develop freely, placing forbidden “beacons” only on certain actions, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, and skipping classes. Also, in his youth, Andrei became interested in wrestling, began attending classes in the sambo section and soon received the rank of master of sports.
After graduating from school, Andrei Rozhkov went to study at the Ural State Technical University. The young man intended to become a welding engineer, but all attempts were unsuccessful. The reason for this, as Andrei later admitted, was the overly cheerful life of the student construction team “Horizon”.
The creative biography of Andrei Rozhkov began with a performance at a humorous evening, which took place at the Rainbow sports and recreation camp in 1993. The five guys received so many admiring reviews and applause from grateful spectators that they decided to continue in the same spirit. This is how the idea was born to create a team to participate in KVN. The Ural comedians chose the appropriate name: “Ural dumplings.”
Rozhkov was not elected captain immediately, but only two years after the birth of the team. The guys recognized Andrey as a leader for his brilliant organizational skills, excellent sense of humor and the author of many jokes.
In 1995, Andrei Rozhkov brought his team to the KVN festival in Moscow for the first time. In addition to the Ural Dumplings, fifty more teams from all over Russia and neighboring countries arrived there. But Alexander Maslyakov immediately noticed this “diamond” among the scattering of “diamonds” and the team entered the season of the Major League of the Merry and Resourceful Club.
In the same 1995, “Ural Dumplings” tried their hand at the winter festival in Sochi, where the team led by Andrei Rozhkov performed so well that they got into the gala concert. The success of “Ural dumplings” lasted from 1995 to 2000. For five seasons in a row, the Ekaterinburg residents played in the KVN Major League and 2000 can be called a triumphant year. The team became the champion of the Major League and even secured the title of “the last champion of the 20th century.”
After the end of the games at the Cheerful and Resourceful Club, “Ural Dumplings” and Andrey Rozhkov continued to perform. The audience did not let go of their favorite artists. Since 2009, Ekaterinburg comedians began performing as the Creative Association “Ural Dumplings”. Each of them was a bright and long-recognized artist. The Pelmeni show is regularly broadcast on the STS channel and has a huge army of fans.
In 2013, players from Yekaterinburg celebrated the team’s twenty-year anniversary. The festive concert took place in the Kremlin Palace. None of the KVN teams received such an honor. All these years, “Ural dumplings” was constantly led by Andrey Rozhkov. At the same time, he participated in other projects. For example, in the show “Big Difference”, he acted as the author of the script, and in “Show News”, “You're funny!” and “Ural Dumplings” participated as a presenter and actor.
Rozhkov in 2020 became the director of the creative association “Ural Dumplings”, but at the beginning of 2020 he decided to vacate his post. The reins of power passed to the PR director of the team, Natalya Tkacheva.
Rozhkov’s creative treasury includes several roles in TV series. Andrey starred in the humorous projects “Valera-TV”, “Unreal Story”, “Southern Butovo” and “Outside Native Square Meters”. In the spring of 2017, the comedy “Lucky Chance” directed by Roman Samgin, which was created according to the script by Zhora Kryzhovnikov, was released. The couple lives in a country house near Yekaterinburg and has three sons – Semyon, Peter and Makar, born in 2016. Before his birth, the artist half-jokingly and half-seriously stated that they would have children until they had a daughter. They do not plan to move to Moscow, to Andrey’s main place of work.
According to some sources, the second son, Peter, was born not in a hospital, but at home. Moreover, the birth was not attended by an obstetrician, but by Andrei himself. This was supposedly a common decision between him and his wife.
