Elena Glazkova: biography

The creative biography of Elena Glazkova started in 2006, but the actress is quickly moving up the career ladder, the number of works in her filmography is growing rapidly. Elena’s partners on the set were Russian cinema stars, whose names are familiar to every TV viewer in the post-Soviet space. The artist, by her own admission, was “worried” not only by looking at celebrities.

“Everyone works differently, everyone has their own strategy. You look at it, try it on and put something into your piggy bank.”

Life behind the scenes

Of course, fans of the talented actress are interested not only in films and TV series in which Maria Glazkova managed to star. The personal life of the star also attracts public attention. It is known that Glazkova married twice. Maria decided to tie the knot for the first time during her student days. Her first love was her classmate Nikita Salopin. This marriage produced a daughter, Anastasia, but soon after the birth of the child, Glazkova and Salopin divorced.

The second husband of the actress was businessman Dmitry. In this marriage she gave birth to a daughter, Ksyusha, and a son, Ivan. It’s interesting that Ksyusha appeared with the star just a few days before the start of filming “Black Goddess.” Seeing the new mother on the set, her colleagues called her crazy. However, Maria Glazkova easily combines her favorite job with caring for children, with which her husband helps her a lot.

The latest series in which the actress starred is “First Love.” In this television project, which premiered in 2013, she played a heroine named Natalya.

Childhood and youth

The actress was born in the village of Golitsyno near Moscow in January 1987. She grew up in a family where there were no actors or people associated with any other form of art. In her senior year, Elena realized that the only profession that truly attracted her was acting. The girl, having received a certificate of maturity, submitted documents to all theater universities in Moscow.

The debut turned out to be successful, because in 2008 Lena was offered the main role in the melodrama “The Power of Attraction”. This film, produced by , became the calling card of the aspiring actress.

Elena claims that they invited her to the project by chance, after seeing low-quality photographs taken on a mobile phone. After 6 auditions, the artist was offered the main role - the temperamental provincial girl Oksana Soroka from Mirgorod. Lena's film parents were Ruslana Pysanka and Bogdan Stupka, and her lover was played by Yuri Baturin. On the set of the series, Glazkova met with Irina Kupchenko and a dozen other artists, whose experience would be useful to her in the future.

Maria Glazkova: `I am the wrong actress`

The director of the popular series “Black Goddess” Leonid Belozorovich loves to say that the main role is played by a crazy actress. And indeed, how many young mothers, having a baby five days old, would dare to take on the main role in a “soap” project, which was not designed for two or three weeks of filming? But Maria Glazkova decided to take a risk, because the director also took a certain risk, adjusting the work schedule of the entire group to the feeding schedule of the newborn Ksyusha. Our correspondent Lyudmila Khlobystova met with actress Maria Glazkova, who was very difficult to catch between filming and household chores. - Maria, the last information about you on the Internet was four years ago, and at that time you had only one daughter...

- Yes, and in general a different life, a different husband, my classmate, we worked together in the theater. After some time they separated. Moreover, he is a wonderful person, and we have a good relationship. Even when we were getting divorced, and the stern lady in court asked if the parties wanted to reconcile, we looked at each other in amazement and said: “But we didn’t quarrel.” Unfortunately, the roads diverged... You go through life like this, you do some things, something breaks, collapses. And then suddenly you find your person and realize that the world is coming together like a mosaic: some pieces came together - and everything fell into place. This is very valuable and rarely given. You probably have to go some way to deserve it.

— Would it be correct to say that family is more important to you at the moment than work?

“For me these are completely unequal things.” I'm probably the wrong actress, because I have almost no professional ambitions at all. I just love my job. Today there are roles - and thank God, tomorrow they will not be - no big deal. Actresses who think exclusively about work are probably not entirely happy in their personal lives.

— How is your relationship with your mother-in-law? Could you advise your heroine from your own experience?

— Here I am the exception rather than the rule, because I have a wonderful mother-in-law with whom it is very easy for me to communicate. I am grateful to her for her patience and understanding. In the film, when I come to the hospital to see Camilla, I myself feel what it means to be a mother-in-law. I understand that Camilla is a wonderful girl, but at the same time a storm of the most contradictory emotions is born in my soul: a stranger invades your life and lays claim to the most precious thing you have, to what you cherished, cherished, nurtured. And here you need to let another woman into your world, a stranger - this is much more difficult than letting another man into your world. Therefore, in my opinion, it is simply easier to be a mother-in-law: due to the opposite sexes, it is easier to achieve mutual understanding with a son-in-law.

— How do you generally perceive your heroine?

— I recently read on some website: Anna is very correct, as good as anyone can be. I don’t know if that’s how it is, but, on the other hand, she allows herself to do some dubious things, albeit for the sake of the children. Anna is pure and sincere - this is probably why she is attractive to many viewers. Such people always evoke sympathy.

— In your opinion, is Anna more a victim of circumstances or of her own blindness and inattention?

— It’s difficult for me to answer this question. It is not clear, for example, how one can be so blind, such an outspoken fool. At the same time, you realize that when a person is absolutely happy in his world, he does not need to notice any things that happen from the outside - he is self-sufficient.

— How do you feel about the series in general? Are you watching anything?

- Sometimes. Depending on what you mean by series, they are different. 4-8 episodes is a series, and 300 is a series. I enjoyed watching and still watch foreign TV series: “The X-Files”, “Emergency”, “Sex and the City”, “Desperate Housewives”. Such series allow you not to follow the plot, and you can turn on at any time, unlike tapes in the format of our “Black Goddess”. Although if I had the opportunity, I would watch these too. But in general, I watch TV extremely rarely. However, the actors have an incentive - to observe who plays what from our workshop, to see some interesting works. Oleg Gushchin recently told me that he was at some meeting of cultural workers, where Valentina Talyzina approached him. She really liked his role in “The Black Goddess”. I was even surprised that some of the acting fraternity manage to watch TV series. Everyone has work and performances. Nice moment.

— How do you like working on the set?

— A very big plus of this series is the excellent team: they are good both in human qualities and in professional ones. Wonderful director, cameraman, designer, costume designers. And everyone works very harmoniously, and this is very valuable. In my life I have seen unprofessional people on the set, and it’s scary when some link in the chain fails and you have to take people from another workshop.

— There are a lot of extreme situations in the series. Wasn't it scary to film, say, a fire scene?

- I don’t. I've been a risk-taker since childhood. I even like the poignant moments, and I feel comfortable in them. From a fire point of view... If you work with professionals and you trust them, then it’s not scary. You understand that everything is calculated minute by minute, by detail, by point, and there simply cannot be any force majeure.

— But did you have to overcome any difficulties during filming?

- There are two points here. First, it was difficult to work on an expedition when it was pouring rain, thunderstorms, the weather did not settle, and we could not film. And when summer began and the sun began to burn, it was also not very pleasant. When they filmed the funeral scene (it seems to me to be in the style of Italian cinema: a mountain, a cemetery on the mountain, the sea below, everyone in black suits), it was very beautiful, but imagine that at that time the summer southern sun was blazing, and not a single tree nearby... But we were filming all day, and even in dark woolen clothes. How no one got heatstroke is beyond me. The second point is that from a very large amount of work, I just felt terrible fatigue. I have never worked on such a scale before.

— Is it easy for you to cry on camera? Do you do this yourself?

— I myself, and I really don’t like any special equipment. This is an integral part of my profession. You must manage yourself. For an actor, crying is part of his nature. Another point is that you don’t have to cry at all to show grief on screen. Sometimes you can play with dry eyes, but in such a way that it will be scary.

— You are more of a theater actress; you are rarely seen on the TV screen. What do you prefer: cinema or theater?

— I love theater very much, I have 8 seasons behind me at the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. I worked with wonderful directors and was spoiled by good roles. My first acting hunger was satisfied, and I became interested in trying my hand at cinema. I can’t compare and say which I like better - these are two very different things. Now it so happens that I left the theater and devoted myself entirely to cinema. At the same time, my love for the theater remains unchanged, and I hope to return to the theater stage in the near future.

— What roles are your favorite?

— In the theater, the strongest impressions remained from my graduation performance, “Three Sisters,” which was staged by Durov. I played Irina there. It's just like first love. Wonderful performance! Great acting work. The late Oleg Nikolaevich Efremov, when he saw this performance, was very moved, and said about one of our students: “I have never seen such a Tuzenbach before.” A rare performance. Then, at the theater, I still really remember Zhenovach’s “Five Evenings,” which received the attention of critics. Many, including me, received awards for their roles in it. In general, every role is a creation into which you put your soul and heart, and which you cannot be indifferent to. And in the cinema, I like my role in the series “Casting”, I really like the film “Miracles in Reshetov” - such scenarios happen once every 10 years. Another thing is that in our cinema it is difficult to realize such a scenario; if it were sent to Hollywood, they would make something masterpiece out of it. An interesting image - because it doesn’t look like all my other roles - in Samara-Gorodok. I played the main character’s friend there, such a spoiled, eccentric girl.

— To what extent, in your opinion, is an actor a puppet in the hands of the director?

“Let those who disagree with me argue, but I am deeply convinced that this is not an acting age.” The age when an actor made a play has passed. And now is the director’s time, when the success of the play and the success of the film depend on the director’s vision, on his approach to the topic. The actor may at some point get involved in a dispute with the director, but the final word remains with the director. He is the commander in chief.

— If you had not become an actress, what would you have done?

“I sometimes thought before what I could become - a doctor, a lawyer... But this is all abstract reasoning. At the moment I’m already thinking - maybe I’ll become an artist, I like to draw. In general, I would be very happy to devote all my time to my girls. After all, it is a great happiness to watch how a little man grows - he is like a flower blossoming. And you must treat this with incredible care, nourish it, so that these wonderful creatures turn out to be worthy people. This is the best thing

— Do you always feel confident in life and on stage? Did you have to overcome any fear or complexes?

— I feel quite confident in my life. But going on stage is a lot of stress. It’s scary to take the first step when you find yourself under the spotlight and the gaze of a thousand eyes of spectators. I had such a moment before the exam. Then the teacher came up to me and said: “Understand, you are not in the power of the audience, but they are in yours.” You can do whatever you want with them: if you want, make them laugh, if you want, make them cry. With these words I overcame my first barrier.

— You are now becoming more recognized on the street. Doesn't this bother you?

- In my life, I mostly go without a drop of makeup, I wear this electric broom, and people can catch you at the moment when you don’t look very good, they start discussing it... This is not entirely pleasant. Otherwise it doesn't interfere. Although after I was dyed and cut for filming, my own husband barely recognized me. And then a man came up on the street and asked if he had seen me on the screen. I was confused and said: “Are you from the police?” You have such a good memory for faces.

— How do you spend your free time, if it does appear?

- Differently. We go on some trips, go somewhere, take bicycles. We recently went to Suzdal. We got ready, threw the girls into the car and drove off. Fantastic, stunning trip. Ringing air, insane beauty, you relax your soul and body. We met the guys from the world-famous spiritual ensemble “Blagovest” and turned out to be long-time absentee fans of each other. If you haven’t heard, be sure to listen to them sing - it’s just a feeling of space, goosebumps, and it’s impossible to convey it in words... And reading, lying around at your leisure - this happens very rarely, only when I’m sick. However, over the past 10 years I have probably only been sick once. Conditions for survival (laughs).

— You are a mother of two children, but at the same time you are in excellent shape. Do you have any secret, or does it come naturally?

- By itself. There is absolutely no time to do anything special. Thanks to the Lord God and my dad and mom - I never had to go on diets or do exhausting workouts.

— You are a fairly happy person: you are fulfilled in your profession, you have a wonderful family. Are there any unfulfilled dreams left?

— I don’t know, maybe some kind of global ones. You can dream about a lot. I wish people would stop hurting each other. So many unhappy people, children. But you can’t wave a magic wand and change the world overnight. Another thing is that everyone can make an effort. In the theater, when you take your bow and see the red, swollen, tear-stained eyes of the audience, you understand that with your help they go through some kind of suffering, catharsis, and become kinder and purer. And this is also, in a certain sense, an acting mission...

Personal life

For some time, Elena Glazkova kept fans in the dark by posting photos of gifts and bouquets from an unknown fan on her social network pages. But in 2020, the secret was revealed: it became known that the artist was dating Gleb Matveychuk. Shortly before meeting the singer, Glazkova broke up with another gentleman, but nothing is known about this page in the woman’s personal life.

Elena Glazkova and her husband Gleb Matveychuk

Gleb divorced Anastasia Makeeva in 2016, and in the same year his affair with Elena began. The couple met in Greece at a film festival, where Matveychuk ended up quite by accident. Oddly enough, Glazkova knew nothing about her new friend; she had not heard either “Monte Cristo” or “Jesus Christ Superstar”, where the musician performed the main roles. But now the actress attends all the concerts with the participation of her beloved.

A photo with a charming gray-eyed brunette appeared on Matveychuk’s Instagram page, but he, tagging the photo with a heart-shaped emoticon, was in no hurry to comment on his relationship with the beauty.

Soon, joint photos of the couple appeared on Lena’s pages on Instagram and VKontakte. In the summer of 2017, the lovers vacationed in Bulgaria and finally stopped hiding their connection. Elena, celebrating her 30th birthday, introduced Gleb to her parents and friends.

Elena Glazkova now

In 2020, Elena Glazkova completed work on the main role in the melodrama “Quiet”. The film was about 2 friends who met by chance after 15 years of separation. Later it turns out that the wife of one was once the bride of the other. Unforgotten feelings flare up again, and the desire to keep a secret turns a happy life into a tragedy. The acting ensemble, in addition to Elena, included Oleg Fomin, Nikita Zverev and Dmitry Gorevoy.

Gleb Matveychuk and Elena Glazkova

In February 2018, Elena and Gleb decided to get married. Matveychuk turned the marriage proposal into a public event - he presented a diamond ring during a concert, after performing the song “These Eyes Opposite.” Three months later, Glazkova informed her followers about her pregnancy and illustrated the entire period of her “interesting situation” with tender pictures on social networks. At the end of September Lena gave birth

daughter Alice.

It didn’t take long for the parents to choose a name for the girl. At first we settled on Stefania, but we didn’t like the combination of Stefania Glebovna. Then the happy husband and father began his debut theatrical production project, “Labyrinths of Sleep,” for which he wrote music. The production is based on "Alice in Wonderland". The expectant mother suggested naming the child this name.

Before the baby arrived in the family, Elena managed to star in the full-length film “Rehearsal” about a half-forgotten rock band dreaming of success. The filmmakers set out to find an answer to the question of what lengths the musicians are willing to go to in order to regain their former glory. The director of the drama was Nikolai Sokolov, a graduate of Vladimir Khotinenko’s workshop. His diploma work “Rakokhod” was recognized as the best short film at the Kinotavr festival in 2010.

And then a man came up on the street and asked if he had seen me on the screen. I was confused and said: Are you from the police? You have such a good memory for faces.

We met the guys from the world-famous spiritual ensemble Blagovest and turned out to be long-time absentee fans of each other. If you haven’t heard, be sure to listen to them sing - it’s just a feeling of space, goosebumps, and it’s impossible to convey it in words. And reading, lying around at leisure - this happens very rarely, only when I’m sick.

And this is also, in a certain sense, an acting mission.
