At the age of seven, the boy saw a ballet performance. Ivan immediately fell in love with this type of art. He transferred from the folk ensemble to the choreographic school, and then began to study classical dance at the Belarusian State College. Vasiliev’s director was the famous choreographer Alexander Kolyadenko. By the way, Ivan was enrolled in college immediately in his third year, since he easily performed elements that his peers did not even know about.
During his studies, Ivan Vasiliev completed an internship at the Belarusian Theater. There the young man played in such productions as “Corsair” and “Don Quixote”. After graduating from college, he went to Moscow.

Now Ivan Vasiliev continues to collaborate with the Mikhailovsky and Bolshoi theaters. In St. Petersburg, the dancer is engaged in the main roles of the ballets “Corsair”, “Flames of Paris”, performs in Gala concerts of ballet stars, and in Moscow Vasiliev dances in productions of “Ivan the Terrible”, “Bright Stream”. Together with Maria Vinogradova, Ivan Vasiliev forms a duet of the main characters in the ballet “Giselle”.

The couple prepares numbers for solo performances together. At the concert “Stars of Benois de la Danse – laureates for a quarter of a century,” the dancers presented the duet “Memories” to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven.
For May 2020, the artist plans the premiere of the play “The Beginning. Strings. Amadeus" author's project V.I.V.A.T., which will take place on the stage of the Moscow RAMT theater. This is a chamber ballet, the main roles of which will be performed by stars of the Bolshoi Theater.

In 2006, Ivan Vasiliev was able to get on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater. It took him four years to achieve this goal. It was during this period that the young man became the premier of the troupe. Vasiliev played the main roles in such performances as “Giselle”, “Petrushka”, “The Nutcracker”, “Don Quixote” and “Spartacus”. Also, together with N. Tsiskaridze, he participated in the international project “Kings of Dance”.
At the end of 2011, information appeared in the media that the leaders of the Bolshoi Theater Natalya Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev were moving to St. Petersburg. And it wasn’t even the Mariinsky Theater. Young people got jobs at the Mikhailovsky Theater, whose ratings were low. It turned out that Ivan needed a serious challenge, severe motivation for further growth in his profession.
Periodically, Vasiliev appears on the stage of the American theater. He is also invited to famous enterprise performances. For example, for the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympics (the painting “Natasha Rostova’s First Ball”) and for the “Solo for Two” project, made in contemporary style.
Personal life
The dancer's personal life develops in parallel with his professional activities. Almost immediately after Ivan Vasiliev moved from Belarus to Moscow, the dancer began a warm relationship with the ballerina Natalya Osipova. The young people together reached the rank of prime minister and prima and became a couple on stage and in life.

This happened largely due to Natalya’s desire to leave her homeland and go to London. Ivan did not plan to move. Dancing appeared in Vasiliev’s life by accident. It’s just that little Vanya had an older brother and his mother took him to see a children’s folk ensemble. And they took Vanya for company - they couldn’t leave a 4-year-old child alone. But during the screening, the child was so carried away by what was happening and danced so energetically that the selection committee could not resist. Little Vanya was also accepted into the ensemble.
Ivan Vasiliev’s passion for ballet began a little later - at the age of 7. He saw a ballet performance and realized that it was this art that he wanted to connect his life with. The boy entered the Dnepropetrovsk choreographic school, and later continued his studies at the Belarusian State Choreographic College. Even then, the young man demonstrated exceptional talent. He easily completed elements that students only master after several years of training. Ivan was even taken straight into the 3rd year - the college management felt that he could handle the load quite well.
After completing his studies, the gifted young man went to work at the Bolshoi Theater. Even compared to the best dancers in the country, Ivan Vasiliev looked decent. Just 4 years later she became the premier of the troupe. The situation familiar to Ivan repeated itself - he again stepped over several steps where his colleagues were slowly climbing the career ladder step by step. And the reason for this is not luck or the help of the powers that be, but talent, exceptional ability to work and love for ballet.
Vasiliev danced the main roles in such legendary productions as Don Quixote, Spartacus, Giselle, and The Nutcracker. Together with the Russian ballet star Tsiskaridze, he participated in the “Kings of Dance” project. It would seem that the young man had everything - he had reached the pinnacle of his career. And at an age when others are just starting. But suddenly Ivan left the Bolshoi Theater. He went to St. Petersburg, and to the Mikhailovsky Theater - not the best and not the most famous. Mikhailovsky was far from the Marinka, but Ivanov would have been willingly accepted into the Mariinsky. Ivan explained the sudden “downshift” unexpectedly. He said that he hit the ceiling and realized that there was nowhere to grow further. To develop creatively, he needed a challenge, an overcoming - that’s why the young man decided to take such an important step.

All his life Anatoly Vasiliev has been working in repertory theaters. After graduating from a theater university, the young actor served for four years at the Satire Theater (1969-1973). Afterwards he moved to the Soviet Army Theater, where he performed on stage for 22 years (1974-1995).
From 1995 to the present day, Anatoly has been working at the Mossovet Theater. In this theater, the artist played his best roles in such performances as “The Devil’s Disciple”, “A Man on Weekends”, “School for Defaulters”, “Prank”, “Energetic People” and many others. It is always interesting for an actor to work with people who are the generator of various ideas.
Today, despite his age, the artist continues to play in his native theater, as well as participate in enterprise productions.
The actor’s film career began in 1977, when Anatoly starred in the film “Steppe”, an adaptation of Chekhov’s stories directed by Sergei Bondarchuk. In the film, the young man played the role of Dymov. The melodrama premiered in 1978. The start in cinema was quite successful for Anatoly. Directors noticed him and began inviting him to their film projects.
