First appearance in public
Many Belarusians know when Nikolai Lukashenko’s birthday is. It's August 31st. In 2020, the teenager turned 14 years old. True, until 2008 the Belarusian president hid the boy from the public.
However, the media were aware that Alexander Lukashenko has a younger, third son. Nikolai first appeared in public in April 2008 - he participated with his father in a cleanup event at the Minsk Arena construction site. However, no one explained to the public what kind of child was with the president.
The phenomenon of Nikolai Lukashenko. How the presidential family replaced the Kardashian family for Belarusians
Reason 1. We have seen Kolya many times, but we know indecently little about him
We only know in detail who his father is, and this is a paradox. His mother is most likely the president’s personal physician, Irina Abelskaya, but this is not certain either. Nikolai was first “showed” in public when he was only three years old - at the Minsk Arena construction site. Then no one knew who he was: Alexander Lukashenko “recognized the bastard” a little later in the interview. And Nikolai became the most popular son of the president who has ever existed.
Nikolai was with his father at all important meetings, stood next to him on the podium during military parades, dug potatoes, skied and skated, lit candles in churches. Even after the explosion at the Oktyabrskaya metro station, the president went down into the subway with his son. In 2011, the head of the Belarusian Free Theater Nikolai Khalezin said that, according to rumors, the president’s son bit a flight attendant who did not allow him to close the door to the plane. The behind-the-scenes story spread across the media - the flight attendant did not show up, the drama was forgotten. It doesn’t matter whether there was a flight attendant.
Reason 2. Intrigue of the presidential seat
In 2020, the impossible happened: 11-year-old schoolboy from Russia Zhenya Grishin interviewed 12-year-old Nikolai for the first time in his life. In the film, Nikolai turned out to be a modest hockey fan who plays the piano well and feeds the cows competently. Nikolai showed Evgeniy a family photo album, where photos with Putin flashed, and answered the most important question: he said that he had no presidential ambitions.
Since then, the public has been content with rare photos of Nikolai and his father from all sorts of establishment parties. We were essentially offered to be content with photo reports from BelTA and the presidential press service. It is too difficult for journalists from other publications to catch the president’s son in the frame. For example, when in 2020, a Naviny.by photojournalist decided to cover the last bell of the Ostroshitsky school, where Nikolai studies, people in civilian clothes simply deleted all the pictures with him.
Nikolay seemed to have stayed in the early 2000s, when popular people did not have social networks, and fans only learned about them thanks to journalists. This fact, of course, only fuels interest in the person of the younger Lukashenko. It is possible that the media image of a good son, which the state media offers us, is strongly based on real events - and Nikolai really loves skiing in Sochi with the President of Russia and choosing gifts for the leader of the People's Republic of China.
Reason 3. The boy grew up
Now Kolya is only 14 years old. But recently he disrupted social networks and the traffic of Belarusian media: a photo of him with a new hairstyle appeared on the Internet. The point, of course, is not the haircut, but the fact that the whole country suddenly remembered how quickly other people's children grow up.
The teenager in the picture with his father looks like an elite security guard, and not at all like a younger son. The adults admitted that Nikolai turned out to be a very nice guy. Teenage girls completely lost sleep. And someone tried to get into the hype funnel by registering on VKontakte under his name. By the way, there are already five pages with his name. Naturally, all are fake. But one of them has more than one and a half thousand people signed up.
Its author posts photos of Nikolai, which receive 100-300 likes. And the most desperate girls share Kolya in the comments. For example, under the photo of my father’s (as the author of the page positions it) Tesla, you can find the following comments:
- I would go for a ride with you - Sorry, but he will go for a ride with me.
And even on TIkTok, videos about Nikolai Lukasheno’s new hairstyle were included in the “trend” section. Vlad Bumaga and Tima Belorusskikh now have a serious media competitor.
Reason 4. Closedness stimulates fakes and citations
Probably, teenagers do not understand why Nikolai does not have a single account on social networks, and out of despair they comment on fake pages. Can you imagine how quickly the real account of the president’s son would gain popularity? We think that, unlike KYKY, he would immediately have an advertising contract with Bentley or Porsche. Although, it is quite possible that Kolya would have promoted Cherginets’ books.
Adults also have sympathy for Nikolai. People are even interested in reading news about how he gave out President chocolates to church parishioners for Easter (we checked)! This is also understandable: Lukashenko’s son is becoming an increasingly independent public person. And the older generation still remembers how ten years ago Alexander Grigorievich announced that his youngest son would become president. So the interest of adults in this regard is politically justified - many are still confident that this is a future monarch.
Reason 5. Fear of the future
Even Russian and Kazakh publications wrote that the son of the Belarusian president has grown up and changed his image. This is understandable: our eastern neighbors, by inertia, are interested in our agenda because of the tax maneuver and talk of unification. In addition, they need to understand: the era is gone when you could give Kolya a goat or a jar of honey for his birthday.
In fact, Nikolai is the Belarusian version of Ksenia Sobchak and similar people. He grows up in the family of a high-ranking official. At the age of 14, I already know Vladimir Putin, Barack Obama, Hugo Chavez and even two Popes. He has security, and he also sat on the laps of a dozen top officials of different states. When Nikolai Alexandrovich grows up, these political pensioners will also increase their own citation index by telling stories in the media about how little Kolya played the piano for them. However, this scenario will work most clearly if Nikolai really goes into politics. And to find out, we will have to keep our finger on the pulse for another five years - that is, closely monitor the life of the new media star.
Illegitimate son?
Alexander Lukashenko himself was then still married to the mother of his eldest sons, Galina Lukashenko. However, according to him, they have not lived together since the very beginning of his presidential term. After the cleanup, Alexander Lukashenko announced his son to the media as his successor to the presidency.
But why has the “illegitimate” son accompanied the Belarusian leader everywhere since then? The president explains everything simply: Nikolai Lukashenko cannot stay with other adults, the boy needs to follow his father all the time.
Alexander Lukashenko does not believe that children out of wedlock need to be hidden. He is against talking about a child “not mine”, “stranger”. By the way, the Russian president also supports him in this. Vladimir Vladimirovich is sure that children are God’s gift, there are simply no extra or other people’s children.
Boy's mother
From the moment the child appeared in public, curious citizens tried to find out who Nikolai Lukashenko’s mother was. The official answer was terse: “she works as a doctor.”
But nevertheless, the journalists managed to find out the facts so expected by the public. Nikolai Lukashenko’s mother is Irina Abelskaya. She holds the post of chief physician of the clinic of the Presidential Administration. In the past, she was also the personal doctor of the head of state. There is information that Irina Abelskaya is the daughter of the late Minister of Health of Belarus L. Postoyalko.
It is unknown how close the son is with his mother. Irina lives in Drozdy, and Lukashenko and his son live in Ozernoye (located near the Ostroshitsky town). At official events you can meet Irina Abelskaya by chance, in the crowd. But the place of the wife next to the head of state is occupied by completely different young women.
The media also report that Abelskaya’s career largely depended on her relationship with the President - she either enjoyed patronage or “fell into disgrace.” For example, in 2007, a woman was fired with a scandal, having lost all her regalia.
She had to work as an ordinary ultrasound diagnostician, but in 2009 she again took the post of chief physician of the clinic of the Presidential Administration. After this incident, there was no criticism of her. Irina Abelskaya, on the contrary, participates in medical events and shares her experience as a manager of a medical institution.
She speaks dryly about her son, Nikolai Lukashenko, in the press. He only says that he wants him to get a good education, choose an interesting job, and bring joy and benefit to others. At official events where mother and son are invited, they are usually not together.
Today the president's son celebrates his birthday. What do we know about Nikolai Lukashenko
Today, August 31, he turns 13 years old.
Nikolai's first time
Nikolai appeared in public for the first time in April 2008. At that time he was already 3 years and 7 months old. Before this, everyone only guessed that the president had a third child. Kolya and his father took part in a community cleanup at the Minsk Arena construction site.
Photo from the press service of the President of Belarus A few days later, Lukashenko mentioned his youngest illegitimate son as his successor: “I have already said: the youngest son will be the President of Belarus.”
Nikolai's mother is the former personal doctor of the president
All that is officially known about Kolya’s mother is that she “works as a doctor.” Lukashenko never mentioned her name, but there were rumors that this was Irina Abelskaya, the chief physician of the clinic of the Presidential Administration, and formerly the president’s personal doctor.
Irina Abelskaya. Photo: TUT. BY How close Kolya is with his mother is unknown. Abelskaya lives in Drozdy, Kolya and his father live in Ozerny near Ostroshitsky Gorodok. Advertising
Abelskaya tries not to talk publicly about her youngest son. For example, in an interview with TUT. BY, when asked about Nikolai’s future profession, she only said: “I would just like him to get a good education, choose an interesting profession, love his work, enjoy it and bring benefit and joy to others.” And not another word.
In general, the boy has three brothers - Victor and Dmitry Lukashenko on his father’s side and Dmitry Abelsky (an ophthalmologist) on his mother’s side. Kolya is jealous of his older brothers and his father, as the president spoke about.
Proof of Kolya's childhood jealousy was demonstrated during the 2020 Prayer for Belarus. He motioned for his brothers to move away and that he would stand next to their father.
Rural school with two swimming pools
In 2011, at the age of seven, Kolya went to a rural school in Ostroshitsky Gorodok.
At the end of 2020, Nikolai told 11-year-old Russian journalist Evgeny Grishin about his school. Like, “since first grade” he sits at the third desk with the girl Ksyusha. Favorite subject is geography. Which constantly plays in school theater productions.
In addition to school, the president’s son’s schedule includes piano lessons and hockey training. Kolya also works with animals: the presidential farm has 10 goats, 7 cows, 47 rabbits of different breeds, peacocks, horses, ponies and three ostriches.
Nikolay - in the club of world leaders
Nicholas has already met with two heads of the Roman Catholic Church - in 2009 with Pope Benedict XVI and with Pope Francis in 2016.
At the age of 10, Kolya participated in a meeting of the UN General Assembly and met with US President Barack Obama and his wife. I have been to China more than once.
Kolya shook hands with Vladimir Putin, Ilham Aliyev, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Hugo Chavez and many other political leaders.
And in 2009, the then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev presented Kolya Lukashenko with a golden pistol during military exercises.
Who is traumatizing the psyche of the presidential son and is he traumatizing him?
The boy’s childhood cannot be called ordinary, even for the son of a president.
It’s one thing to be 13 years old and collect potatoes with your father and travel. And it’s completely different to drive a combine harvester or a motorcycle without a license. Or pose for the camera, posing as an ordinary passenger in a reserved seat carriage, writes naviny.by.
For some reason, those who do this underestimate the consequences for the child’s development.
The son overtook his father
Last year, Alexander Lukashenko mentioned that his youngest son had grown to 172 cm. Since then, Nikolai has clearly added another ten centimeters.
Brothers
Nikolai Lukashenko has three brothers: these are Viktor and Dmitry Lukashenko, who occupy high positions in Belarus (on their father’s side), as well as Dmitry Abelsky, who works as an ophthalmologist (on his mother’s side).
Their relationship is shrouded in mystery, but Alexander Lukashenko himself admits that the boy is jealous of his older brothers, interrupts conversations about them, and demands increased attention to himself. The child explains this by saying that they are adults and already have children of their own. However, the President says that Nikolai has quite good relations with Dmitry and Victor.
People are delighted with the appearance of Lukashenko’s youngest son
The 14-year-old son of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has caused a real stir in the Internet space. He accompanied his 64-year-old father during his official visit to China, and one of the journalists photographed the teenager. However, you can’t call him a teenager anymore. Most Internet users saw in the matured Nikolai no longer a young man, but a husband. At the same time, some girls considered the guy a “husband” in the literal sense of the word, admiring what an enviable groom grew up from the recently awkward “ugly duckling.”
“Girls, have you even seen what happened to Kolya Lukashenko?” writes one of the girls smitten by his beauty. “Kolya Lukashenko looks better than I once could and I will someday,” states a certain man. The Express-Novosti news agency also bothered to compare photographs of Nikolai now and two years ago. The difference is impressive. At 12, the president's youngest heir looks like an unfledged chick, with delicious cheeks and a slightly confused look. Dressed in a classic suit, he seems perplexed: why did they put these uncomfortable and completely ill-fitting things on him?
Now Kolya looks more like a famous film actor. No wonder he managed to get the nicknames “Prince Minsky” and “Belarusian Prince William.” He noticeably lost weight and changed his hairstyle. The look became more conscious, a special breed appeared. It’s no wonder that now 14-year-old Lukashenko is on the list of the most desirable grooms in all of Belarus. However, it is unlikely that any of the beauties will be able to seduce young Kolya now. It’s too early for him to retire. But potential contenders immediately took note of him. Like, let him grow up, and then in an honest little world and for the wedding.
Nikolai has long been accustomed to increased attention to his person. He perceives the girls' glances and camera lenses directed at him calmly and with dignity. With his father, he managed to travel almost the whole world, was in China, the Vatican, Egypt and more. It is known that the guy is seriously interested in sports: hockey, biathlon, skiing, and also plays the piano. The only thing that remains behind the veil of secrecy is the name of Nikolai’s mother. Lukashenko himself carefully hides it. Only once did he mention that Kolya’s mother “works as a doctor.” Clever journalists immediately realized that we were most likely talking about the president’s ex-doctor, Irina Abelskaya. In addition to Nikolai, Lukashenko has two older sons from his ex-wife Galina: 43-year-old Victor and 39-year-old Dmitry.

School
Nikolai Aleksandrovich Lukashenko went to school in 2011. He was 7 years old at that time. However, in Belarus it is more common to send children to school from the age of six. The media had many options, but on September 1, the boy went to study at a rural (but with two swimming pools) school in the town of Ostroshitsky.
In 2020, Nikolai Lukashenko (photos of the son of the Belarusian President are presented in the article) himself told a journalist about his studies. He sits at the third desk with his neighbor Ksyusha. My favorite subject is geography.
Hobbies
He is also involved in theatrical school productions. The boy managed to play the astrologer, Kai, the assistant of Santa Claus, the lion from Madagascar. In addition, he has two more serious hobbies - hockey training and piano lessons. At the same time, he studies music several hours a week.
Nikolai also likes to tinker with the animals on the presidential farm. These are goats, cows, peacocks, horses, rabbits, ponies and three ostriches.
At the same time, the boy manages to study at school according to the regular program. Considering how much he accompanies his father on international trips, this is hard to believe. But the school management confirms this fact.
Nikolai Lukashenko: Of course, I look up to my father
On “Belarus 1” in the program “Special Report” they showed an interview with the youngest son of President Nikolai Lukashenko. The video interview was conducted by Russian 11-year-old schoolboy Evgeniy Grishin. The boy flew in from the Far East, from the village of Artemovsk.
Nikolai showed the animals that live on the territory of the presidential residence.
We have seen Kolya next to the president for the last eight years. But this is the boy's first interview.
An 11-year-old journalist asked whether Nikolai would like to succeed his father as president of Belarus.
The age difference between the journalist and Nikolai is a year.
“Many people ask me about this,” he replied. “I sincerely wouldn’t really like it, life will be very difficult, I’m not sure I’m ready.” Maybe I would become a doctor - helping people is good. Maybe he would have chosen a military career. There is still time to think.
The red cat is Nikolai's favorite.
Nikolai showed the young journalist the family's farm: 10 goats, 7 cows, 47 rabbits of various breeds, decorative chickens, geese, peacocks, three ostriches, horses, ponies... He treated them to dinner - potato pancakes. The children visited Nikolai's school. It turned out that the boy’s favorite subject is geography, and he has been sitting at the third desk since first grade with the same girl, Ksenia.
Nikolai drives an electric car.
The president's son showed a theater class. He said that he played an astrologer, an assistant to Santa Claus, Kai. This year, in the New Year's production, he will be a lion from the cartoon "Madagascar".
Then Nikolai taught the young reporter to ski and play hockey. The president's son is very confident when it comes to skiing; he has been learning since he was three years old. Nikolai’s hockey training is two to three times a week: “I’m trying to be like other hockey players. From our teams and from other teams. Of course, I look up to my father.”
Nikolai teaches a Russian boy to play hockey.
The story showed how Alexander Lukashenko came to the children for training: in a hockey uniform and on skates. Lukashenko Sr. showed how hockey players should warm up - drive along the sides.
The president came to the training of young hockey players.
“A real hockey player must fall at least a thousand times,” the president encouraged the young journalist when he fell.
A Russian journalist was invited to a New Year's performance at the Palace of the Republic. After the celebration, Alexander and Nikolai gave him a video camera. Until now, the little journalist has been filming his stories with a smartphone camera. By the way, the story showed Nikolai driving an electric car, a photo of him at the piano with Vladimir Putin... Nikolai talked about his travels: he liked it in the USA and Ecuador.
Kolya has been skiing since he was three years old.
“In this country, you can stand with one foot on one hemisphere and the other on the other,” Nikolai shared an interesting fact about both Ecuador and geography.
The president's youngest son plays the piano four times a week.
— You perform at concerts. Who is your listener? - Evgeny asked Nikolai.
— Dad rarely comes to concerts. I mostly play for him at home.
Kolya stands confidently on his skis.

Meetings with world leaders
Nikolai Lukashenko’s biography also includes meetings with two heads of the Roman Catholic Church. In 2009, he participated in the official meeting of the Belarusian President with Pope Benedict XVI, and in 2020 - with Pope Francis. There were some gifts here too. The boy handed Pope Benedict a primer, and Pope Francis a holographic icon, a copy of the cross of Euphrosyne of Polotsk, and a model of a carriage.
Moreover, at the age of 10, Nikolai took part in the UN General Assembly. The child met with former President of the United States Barack Obama and his wife. My father went on business visits to China several times.
This boy with an amazing destiny, at the age of 14, has already managed to shake hands with Vladimir Putin, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Hugo Chavez, Ilmakh Aliyev and many other world leaders. In 2009, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev presented Nikolai with a magnificent gift at a military exercise - a golden pistol.
Nikolai Lukashenko is the son of the President of Belarus, a friend of Vladimir Putin and a talented musician
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with his son Nikolai Kolya is no stranger to media noise in the press; all his life he has done nothing but give reasons to talk about himself.
In April 2020, several Belarusian media outlets came out with headlines that their country now has its own Prince William, the son of President Alexander Lukashenko
Nikolai. The fact is that the boy suddenly matured and became prettier, which provoked comparisons with the young Duke of Cambridge.
The birth of Nikolai itself is a topic for rumors and discussions. The fact is that it is not known exactly who his mother is (this is not the wife of the President of Belarus Galina, with whom Alexander Grigorievich has not lived together for many years). Kolya’s mother is considered to be Irina Abelskaya
- Lukashenko’s former personal physician. Her professional biography is bright: since she began working with the head of the country, she was either promoted to the head physician of the Republican Hospital or demoted to an ordinary ultrasound diagnostician. As they say, all this happened depending on the wishes of Alexander Grigorievich. Lukashenko himself never directly answered questions about who the mother of his youngest son was, preferring to say that any child is a gift from God. At the same time, he emphasized that Vladimir Putin also considers his Kolya a gift from God. That's what he told him.
Alexander and Nikolai Lukashenko, Vladimir Putin
Until Kolya was three years old, he was generally something of a Belarusian folk myth: everyone talked about him, but no one saw him, and in general it was not clear whether he existed in reality. But in 2008, he suddenly made his debut on television, together with his dad, taking part in a republican cleanup at the Minsk Arena construction site. At that time it was not yet clear who exactly the kid, cheerfully wielding a rake, was related to the president. But literally a few days later, Lukashenko confirmed that this was his son. And immediately - either jokingly or seriously - he announced grandiose plans associated with him: Kolya will become president. Most likely, he was serious, because in 2020 he again named his son his successor, however, emphasizing that he himself most likely would not live to see him become the leader of Belarus.
Despite such far-reaching plans of his father, Kolya periodically leads the life of a completely normal child. In high school he studies at the most ordinary one - Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya. And there he does the usual things - goes to classes and plays in the theater. True, besides this, Kolya still has many important things to do. The schedule is as tight as possible: the boy plays hockey, cross-country and alpine skiing and perfectly accompanies the piano. By the way, Kolya usually does all this in very pleasant company. In particular, Russian President Vladimir Putin. In 2020, Nikolai gave 11-year-old Russian journalist Evgeny Grishin
his first interview, in the video version of which they showed a photograph in which Kolya plays the piano four-handed with the head of the Russian Federation.
This was far from their only meeting. Together with Vladimir Vladimirovich, young Nikolai Alexandrovich also skied in Sochi, played hockey and lit candles in the church - the latter happened quite recently, in July 2020, at a service in the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery. The Russian leader is not Nikolai's only friend from high circles. By the age of 15, he had met two popes (Pope Benedict XVI in 2009 and Pope Francis in 2016. Kolya gave Benedict an ABC book, and Francis a copy of the cross of Euphrosyne of Polotsk, a model of a carriage and a holographic icon), Barack Obama, Hugo Chavez and Xi Jinping. At the age of 10, Kolya participated in a meeting of the UN General Assembly. Why does the President of Belarus take his little son with him everywhere? He himself answers this very simply - there is no one else to leave the boy with.

And in general, nothing human is alien to Kolya: in 2020, Alexander Grigorievich, for example, complained that his youngest son spent too much time playing computer games. Besides, Nikolai is jealous. Alexander Grigorievich spoke about this directly - his youngest son wants to be his only favorite. During the “Prayer for Belarus” event in 2020, “material evidence” was found of this. Kolya gestured to his older brothers to move away and that he would stand next to his father. Whether there is a place for love in Kolya’s busy schedule is unknown. But in July of this year, he came to the opening concert of the Slavic Bazaar in the company of his father and an unknown pretty girl about his age. Is it really first love?

Benefit or benefit?
Of course, any boy would envy Kolya Lukashenko the opportunities that the youngest son of the Belarusian leader has. Generally, high-ranking officials, on the contrary, strive to hide their family affairs from the general public and provide the press with scanty information about their personal lives. But not Alexander Lukashenko! He has long been striving to make his youngest son a recognizable media face.
So, the boy has already managed to take part in a military parade with his father several times on May 9, in honor of the Victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War. At the gala event in 2009, the child was dressed in military uniform. Although the President no longer involves his son in such disguises, the boy’s childhood can hardly be called ordinary, even for the child of a political leader. Many media outlets are confident that his father is using Nikolai to create his positive image.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with this, but it’s one thing to participate in community cleanups with dad, dig potatoes together and travel the world. But there is footage online of a boy driving a motorcycle and a combine harvester without a license. For publication in the media, at the age of 13, he posed for the camera, posing as an ordinary passenger in a reserved seat carriage.
