Our star was born on May 19, 1977 in Montevideo (this is Uruguay). Her parents are very simple - her mother used to be a hairdresser, her father works in trade. Adriana's older sister has her own clothing store. Natalia began studying acting at the age of 8, and at 12 she was already starring in television commercials. Everything turned upside down when she appeared with Diego Ramos in the serial film “Rich and Famous”. This is how the popular fame of the actress began. Since 1998, she went to work on the Argentine channel TeLeFe, where she first played in “An Argentine in New York”, and then there was the legendary “Wild Angel”. At the same time, in July 1998, her first solo disc was released - Oreiro became even more famous, and the disc soon deservedly became gold. After this, the careers of the singer and actress went in parallel and both brought considerable success.

One day she left her native Uruguay, heading for Argentina, dreaming of becoming an actress. But she didn’t know that very soon she would turn into an icon of television series, a movie muse and sell millions of records. At 40, radiant as ever, the “brave doll” spoke in an exclusive interview with Sarah magazine about the “recipe” for her success.

The same thing happens with the Argentine television series “Wild Angel”, which has been sold to more than 80 countries and translated into more than 50 languages. But what do these songs and the series have in common? Woman: Natalia Oreiro. This owner of unreal beauty has sold more than 10 million records and the list of her achievements can be endlessly long. The fact is that La Oreiro knows what success is and is not going to stop achieving it. As proof of this, her recent leading role in the dedication film “Gilda. I don’t regret this love”, in which we see Oreiro stronger and more talented than ever. At 40 years old and with a busy work schedule that took her to Chile, Natalia accepted our invitation to take a look back at her more than 20-year career and star in an exclusive photo shoot in the purest style of Sarah magazine. THE FIRST QUEEN TO DIVE INTO THE POOL

The year 2001 for Natalia was marked by the Viña del Mar Festival, an episode in which she not only made the entire Quinta Vergara hall sing, but was also chosen as the queen of the festival, changing its history forever by popularizing the swimming pool jump.

— How do you remember Vinya?

— I remember with great tenderness these moments as an artist (2001), and then as a presenter (2002). It was an amazing experience where you are surprised by everything and spend a whole week with wonderful people.

— Did you expect to receive the crown?

- No, not at all. Everything was very exciting. One of the journalists told me that they have a tradition that the winners dive into the water, and the second he told me this, I dived. And when I was already almost head in the water, I hear: “Nooo, it was a joke!” But I was already in the pool in a dress and everything (laughs). I didn’t think twice about it, just like in life - I basically always “throw myself into the pool.” It's like a way of life - risking yourself for something new.

OUR NATASHA

Uruguayan by birth, who settled in Argentina and with a successful trajectory in Russia - this is how Natalia’s heart is divided. Russia has fallen in love with the Uruguayan so much that it dedicated a documentary film to her, called “Our Natasha,” to capture the love they feel for her.

- Russia is a country that loves you, they even dedicated a documentary film to you last year...

— Yes, I established a very strong brotherly bond with them. “Wild Angel” was shown there 14 times! I go there every year and constantly improve my Russian. Contrary to what many people think, people in Russia are very warm, romantic, musical, and even to some extent they identify with me. Their love is so strong that they even know my songs in Spanish! To tell the truth, my feelings towards Russia are impossible to describe.

GILDA. I DON'T REGRET THIS LOVE

At the age of 19, the actress first heard Gilda and fell in love with her voice. However, at that moment she could not even imagine that in 2016 she would play the main role in a film about the life of the cumbia queen.

—Have you dreamed of a role?

— I have always been her fan, I always sang her songs. I think I was able to wait the necessary time. Fortunately, this role came to me at a time when I was able to play it from an acting point of view. This had to do with my age, maternal maturity, I knew what shades needed to be given to the role in order for everything to come out perfectly.

— Was it difficult for you to play Gilda?

“I’m not at all like this character, to the point where I had to forget my own style in order to achieve the goal.” I am not the one who imitates, I am the performer of the role, so it was fundamental for me to convey her essence.

In cinema there are always very closed shots, so being able to convey everything with your eyes is fundamental. For me, that's where the soul of the character lies, and I actually knew that if I could find that mixture of melancholy that she had, naivety, and also strength, then people would forget that it was me playing her, but as the real one. Taurus, I'm stubborn. This was another dream that I was able to achieve in my life.

- You haven’t stopped in these more than 20 years! What's the recipe for staying active?

“It’s all about the desire to always do something new and to choose my characters and my paths with my heart and intuition.” I think I've been lucky that every age I've been has coincided with a time when I've had to play certain characters. As well as the fact that I had the opportunity and the brains to let them go in time, and not remain trapped in what was a great success.

— Soon we will see you in a comedy on the silver screen...

— Yes, in January we will film a remake of the Chilean film “No Filter” in Argentina. I’m also preparing an incredible tour in March 2020 in Turkey, Israel and Russia. And the main challenge for me is that I am writing scripts for a television series and short stories, which I will definitely star in in the second half of the year. I've always enjoyed writing, but now I'm hoping to co-produce and be an artistic producer and creator on a project.

BALANCE AND INTEGRITY

Natalia simply glows; at 40 years old, she still retains the face of the “angel” that she was considered one of in the 2000s. Recipe? Open up to change and enjoy things that many people don’t even notice, like a walk outside the city.

- How do you manage to stay so radiant?

— What is fundamental is nutrition. I'm a vegetarian and I take good care of myself, but if you give me a chocolate bar, I'll eat it all because it's my addiction.

I never sleep with makeup on my face and always use good beauty products and moisturizers. All the treatments I do are non-invasive and I use sunscreen every day, even when I'm at home.

- First you talk about simplicity, and the next day we see you shining on the red carpet. So what is the real Natalia?

“I love to play the red carpet, my job allows me to do it, but I have an absolutely normal life. In my daily life I like to go barefoot, be relaxed, not worry about anything.

I love nature very much, I take my son to kindergarten by bike, go to the supermarket like an ordinary person and grow my own orchids in the greenhouse at my home. I get up to see the sunrise and count the stars, it seems to me that this is the real meaning of life.

— What is the most difficult thing about being Natalia Oreiro?

- To be away from my son. Like many mothers, I work a lot, and fortunately we are given great power, we can divide into thousands. We are strong, but at the same time fragile. Luckily, I was able to breastfeed my son for two and a half years, and it was wonderful. And although it can be difficult, he has a father who is a huge support and life partner.

— What is your relationship with beauty?

— For me, beauty is in diversity, we are all unique and different. Beauty is a smile, it is something frank, sincere and spontaneous.

I think that we women are more critical of appearance, and this really scares me, because the media shows canons that are simply impossible to achieve. And first of all, young people take it upon themselves, and it is very difficult to find happiness in the search for perfection.

- And your happiness, where do you find it?

- In the word, in the truth, no matter how cruel it is. I think that when you realize reality, you can enjoy happiness. Living a lie or denying reality will not lead you to happiness.

I PREFER THAT THEY KNOW THE REAL ME

Natalia avoids making references to controversy, she is careful when it comes to talking about others, and she jealously guards her privacy, all of which is combined with a very casual conversation and the way she perceives standards of beauty. In addition, she remains against invasive procedures in search of beauty and does not want to use social networks.

— Is it because of your position as a supporter of “Mother Nature” that you do not use social networks?

— I like to live a real and simple life. I know they (social media) have a very good side, but people abuse it and expose their lives in a disproportionate manner. There’s a lot of aggression, as well as this waiting to see if I’ve uploaded a photo, and corresponding comments. This is Pandora's box. There is good and bad in this, and unfortunately, the bad can ruin your day.

I think my work says more about me than a photo. And I have the opportunity to star in films, TV series, participate in races, give interviews so that I can be truly recognized.

LAS OREIRO

Although she feels more comfortable growing orchids than running around the city, Natalia is also a fan of fashion, design and the runway. Indeed, her career began as a model. Because of all this affinity with fashion, she created Las Oreiro 10 years ago.

“My sister and I were inspired by our mother, who designed her own dresses. We both studied cutting and sewing in Uruguay for two years. I then went to Argentina to pursue acting, while Adriana settled in Mexico to study fashion design.
