Training brought great pleasure to the young guy. He understood that an incredibly large number of roles and popularity awaited him ahead. Of course, I had to work a lot to get offers from directors.

Childhood and youth

In December 1972, Denis Matrosov was born in Moscow. His parents, “techies” by education, in addition to their son, also raised a daughter. Family happiness turned out to be short-lived. When the boy was 11 years old, his father died due to a medical error. The mother had to raise the children alone. The death of a loved one forced Denis to grow up quickly. The actor still does not forget his father, posting his photos on Instagram.

A rapid career at the initial stage of his creative biography did not turn the young artist’s head; Matrosov, at a young age, realized the importance of a proper education and decided not to limit himself to one university. After graduating from the Moscow Art Theater in 1991, he continued his studies at the Theater School. Shchepkina, where he studies for another 3 years.

After completing his studies, Denis performs three graduation works: the play “Saturday, Sunday, Monday” in the role of Attilio, “Don Gil Green Pants” in the role of Don Pedro and “Fear and Poverty of the Third Empire” in the role of the Traitor.

The death occurred due to a doctor's error. At that time the boy was only 11 years old. Very little is known about the actor’s childhood.

Denis Matrosov’s mother had to raise her children all alone. The family had two children: Denis and his sister Olesya. The mother had a very difficult time, so the children tried to study well. Denis Matrosov studied at a school with in-depth classes in English, so he mastered this subject perfectly.

Denis Matrosov in his youth

In addition, since childhood, Sailors was interested in adventure films and books. The boy liked stories about pirates. The teachers noted his keen interest in everything that was happening around him and the boy’s artistry. At that time, the biography and personal life of Denis Matrosov was of almost no interest to anyone.

He was a boy who grew up in a simple family. Denis knew that he would have to put in a lot of effort in the future to achieve good results in his career.

The actor performs together with Irina Lobacheva in the popular Channel One show Ice and Fire. He proved himself quite worthy as a figure skater, since he was able to even perform complex tricks.

Movies

After his role in “Made in the USSR,” Matrosov did not act in films for a long time. The first work that followed the actor’s bright film debut was the role of Mitya in the film “Love on a Raft” directed by Antropov.

Over time, Denis begins to work more and more actively as a film actor. At first he plays small roles, for example, a croupier in the drama “Garbage Man”, a sharper in “Stop on Demand - 2”, etc.

Gradually his works become larger and more noticeable. The image of Vadim in the television series “Two Fates” became memorable. Participation in this series was significant in Denis’s business and personal life. After that, he played in the projects “People and Shadows - 2” and “Give Me Life.”

Sailors played his first film role after graduating from school at the Moscow Art Theater studio. He worked in the film “Made in the USSR”. The role was episodic, however, it was only the beginning of a successful career.

After this work, Matrosov did not appear in films for a long time. This was due to the busyness of the theater and the lack of good roles. Soon the actor returned to cinema, and Sailors even took on small episodic roles.

These are the kinds of decisions that only a real actor can make. Directors more than once asked questions about why he needed to prove his talent again in this way.

In the early 2000s. Denis Matrosov began working on the series “Two Fates”. This film tells about the personal dramas of the main characters and their tragedies. Denis Matrosov gets the bright role of Vadim. We can say that after the release of this film the actor became famous. Despite everything that happened after the divorce, Denis Matrosov continues to organize his personal life, biography and career.

He knows how to separate family and work, which is why he achieved such high results in cinema.

After the high-profile premiere, Matrosov continued to work actively. He starred in the following films:

  • "Obsession";
  • "Blizzard";
  • "New Russian Romance".

Over time, the actor’s roles become larger and his characters become more interesting. In 2013, the serial film “House with Lilies” was released on Channel One, where the actor was entrusted with one of the main roles.

Matrosov was taken into the picture as an experienced, talented actor capable of revealing the character of a controversial hero. Sailors did an excellent job with his work, which earned him the love of the audience and high praise from film critics.

Personal life

The personal relationships of one of the main serial characters-lovers in life are not as simple as on the screen. Denis Matrosov's first notable romance was his relationship with Lyudmila Tatarova, a famous Moscow theater actress. They were not officially married, but Tatarova gave birth to two sons to the actor - Yuri and Vladimir, after which the relationship went wrong. Lyudmila didn’t even list Denis in the “father” column, forbidding him to communicate with children. Sailors did not see them for 13 years.

For a long time after this, Sailors remained alone and only during the filming of the series “Two Fates” did he meet his future wife Maria Kulikova. In a strange way, a picture of two difficult destinies and love brings a couple together. They started living together during filming, but officially got married a little later.

Denis Matrosov and Maria Kulikova

Denis and Maria lived for 14 years and seemed like an ideal couple. The couple built a house, gave birth to a son, Ivan, and both made careers. But at the beginning of 2015, the artist filed for divorce. According to rumors, this happened after she found out about her husband’s affair on the side. Moreover, their mutual friend, actress Irina Kalinina, allegedly became his passion. Sailors himself denied the gossip. He has a long-standing friendly relationship with Irina, which developed on the work site of the series “My Love,” where they played lovers.

After the divorce of Matrosov and Kulikova, the couple lived together for some time. The actors were looking for a way to divide their jointly acquired property. Now Denis and Maria maintain friendly relations: the ex-husband is actively involved in raising their son.

Denis Matrosov with his wife Olga Golovina and son

Matrosov’s personal life soon improved with a girl named Olga Golovina. The new darling has nothing to do with the acting environment. I met Denis after one of his performances in the theater. Olga gave her favorite performer an unusual gift - mittens. In a new relationship in 2020, the artist had a son, Fyodor, who was named in honor of the actor’s grandfather. Olga’s daughter from her first marriage, Alexandra, is also growing up in the family.

Denis Matrosov: “I am a gingerbread dad. I can’t be strict!”

Ladies remember Denis Matrosov from the TV series “Two Fates” and “House with Lilies.” Men, most likely, from the crime detective “Profile of a Killer.” Now the actor has a new role - a man with a double bottom. In the series “Blind Turn” (“Home”) he plays a changeling hero who will surprise everyone.

— Denis, what kind of hero do you have this time?

— I would call him a dark horse compared to other heroes. He works, helps the main character Alice (Evgeniya Akhremenko), and even seems to love her. But what is really in his head will become clear only in the finale. Gena is a charming guy, but behind the mask of a caring guy hides a completely different person. His credo is “I love everyone for my own good.” Offended by life, a complex comrade.

— This is not your first work in a melodramatic project. Does it bother you that many viewers associate Denis Matrosov with popular soap operas?

— Viewers associate me with interesting and bright images, and not with operas! (Laughs.) Look at my filmography - there are more than 50 works in films of all genres. In this sense, I was lucky in my profession. I am not offended by the roles: there are many diverse roles - both comedic and dramatic, and, importantly, they were all highly rated. Matrosov brings good luck to producers and their projects. Tested by time. The essence of the acting profession is that you must bend like a good vine: wherever the director bends, that’s where you move. And I’m a cool actor in the prime of his life!

Denis Matrosov complained about the meager salaries of the actors. The father of four children opened a business to feed his family.

— At the same time, you run your own theater. How are things going there?

— Almost all the energy and time were spent there, at the Matrosov Theater. My main occupation. We tour a lot, we have made two productions: “Two in an elevator, not counting tequila” and “You will be mine!”, We perform them not only in Russia, but all over the world. We work together with my wife Olga. And our Napoleonic plans are to make a full-length film. We are getting closer to this goal, we have decided on the material, and now the preparatory period is underway. This will be my first project as a film producer, I will try to make it so that everything works out.

— Do you have time to rest? It snowed in Moscow.

— Vacations are difficult. I am my own boss and have a hard time letting myself go from work. I have gone to the sea with my wife and children once in the last 6 years. It is not right. But I'm trying to improve. If not at sea, then at home. As soon as the snow fell, we immediately went skiing with the children. And we made snowmen and took a walk. The most important thing is children and family. Everything else is included. And if something goes to the detriment of the family, it’s gone to hell. (Laughs.)

Still from the series “The Price of the Past”

— Every year you repeat a touching post on Instagram dedicated to your father. As a father, what is the first thing you teach your sons?

“The most important thing, in my opinion, is to convey love to children. They must be surrounded by it. Now, if they say that you need to educate with carrots and sticks, then I am more of a gingerbread father. And our mother too. I was raised the same way: I didn’t know what it was to be beaten. My father and mother never raised a hand against me. I want to pass on my love to the children so that they continue to love this world, people, and loved ones. And the rest is by example. There is no better recipe.

— How much do you manage to extinguish the temperament of two sons with love? After all, two boys in the house is always a fire.

- I think it’s possible. Of course, all parents are different. But we are gingerbread. I can't be a strict father. Perhaps this is a minus. Probably, due to the softness, I do not put some restrictions on them too convincingly. Maybe. Only time will tell how they will grow and what I managed to put into them. I try by example. I love to build, I like to do things around the house with my own hands, and I call Fedya (the son from his current marriage to lawyer Olga Golovina. - Author) and Vanka (the son from a previous marriage to actress Maria Kulikova. - Author). Either clear the snow, or do something else. They are already coming and asking how to help. This cannot be introduced by force. I ate, washed the dishes after myself, and put them back. I don’t know, I’m not a parenting guru. I'm just looking for ways to approach.

Denis Matrosov said that his ex-lover betrayed him and forbade him to communicate with his sons. The actor admitted that his relationship with his ex-lover leaves much to be desired. Despite the fact that the couple separated quite a long time ago, due to disagreements, Matrosov has no opportunity to communicate with the children.

— How were you raised?

“Mom always pulled me out of parties in the yard. Either sports sections or clubs. It’s the same with us: Fedka has a lot of additional varied activities in the garden. He also does swimming—jumping and somersaulting into the water. Does things ten year olds can't always do. Vanya saw and gasped: “How so?” Although Vanka himself once took third place in swimming competitions. Now he studies at the Peter the Great Gymnasium, goes to a technology park, where he masters new technologies, a 3D printer, and learns to draw cartoons. At home he makes screensavers for his YouTube blog, writes reviews of games, and wants to become a popular YouTuber. This is his hobby, so there is little time left for additional sports. But he is at school from 8.30 to 6 pm, and there is football, judo, and chess.

Still from the TV series “Mashkin’s House”

— Judo occupies a special place in our country.

- And hockey too. At the presidential hockey tournament of law enforcement agencies the year before last, our team of artists “KomAr” took first place! I play and take the children to games too. I put Vanya on skates, then they abandoned him a little. We need to resume. And we’re just getting started with Fedya. We waited and waited for the skating rink to be poured next to our house this year, but it never happened. Miracles of the weather. You'll have to go somewhere, fortunately there are a lot of artificial skating rinks now.

— You said that you like to do things around the house. What are you building?

— Now it’s a small outbuilding. We live outside the city. At one time I spent a lot of time building our big house.

— Was it “killed”?

- Yes. I wanted all my relatives to live in it. One big family. But it turned out that this was impossible, so he “killed” him. This is a big mistake. Gathering everyone under one roof is a utopia! Unreal. Unfortunately, when they tried to warn me about this, I did not hear. Then I came across it and realized it was true. I grew up in a family where 12 people gathered at the table, and I wanted it to be the same for us. Apparently, we were children then and didn’t see much. Then everyone left anyway... The most ideal thing is to live nearby, but each family is on its own territory. It’s better to have many small houses and apartments nearby than one big house for everyone.

- There is a house, sons too. How are things going with the tree?

- There is a tree, and even a fireplace. At the age of 19, he built a small wooden house near Tver on a plot that went to his mother. I laid out the fireplace. And he planted trees - a whole garden! And then one day I arrived, and my trees migrated to a neighbor’s plot. (Laughs.) There are two apple trees left, and that’s how they stand now. Okay, I ran, we need to pick Fedya up from the garden, then we’ll go get Vanya. Family concerns. Bye!

Denis Matrosov now

In 2020, Matrosov’s collection of film roles was replenished with 3 more images. He played a supporting role in the comedy “The Guy from Hollywood, or The Extraordinary Adventures of Venya Lucky,” which was released in November. Denis played the main characters in the series “The Price of the Past” and “Alien”.

Denis Matrosov in 2019

It’s no secret to Matrosov’s fans that the actor is passionate about playing hockey. He is a member of the amateur artistic club "KomAr". In April 2020, the team plans to participate in the International Tournament of Amateur Hockey Teams, which will be held in Sochi. Athletes from more than 40 countries will come to the competition. The players have already discussed issues related to the championship at the EUROHA CUP 2020 press conference.
