Ekaterina Shavrina spoke for the first time about how she lives without her deceased sister

The biography of Ekaterina Shavrina is well known to fans of the national stage. This is a famous singer who studied with Alla Pugacheva, and received a ticket to the stage thanks to Lyudmila Zykina. Shavrina Ekaterina holds the title of People's Artist of Russia. In her work, she relied on folklore compositions. One of the most famous songs performed by her is “A Young Cossack Walks Along the Don,” with the help of which Catherine captivated Soviet and foreign listeners. Shavrina herself admits in her interviews that she is constantly drawn to the stage, and if she does not perform for a long time, then her health begins to deteriorate.

early years

We will begin to talk about the biography of Ekaterina Shavrina in 1942, when the heroine of our article was born in the small village of Pyshma, located in the Sverdlovsk region. Her parents, Feodosia Evgenievna and Feoktist Evstigneevich, had five more children growing up, but it was Catherine who demanded increased attention literally from the very first day.

As a child, she was diagnosed with health problems. When Katya was four years old, she still did not speak. It turned out that her ears were damaged. Doctors performed a complex operation, after which the future artist began not only to talk, but also to sing.

Childhood and early years

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shavrinaru The biography of the People's Artist of the Russian Federation began in the Sverdlovsk region in the small village of Pyshma. Ekaterina Shavrina’s date of birth is December 15, 1942. Her zodiac sign is Sagittarius, according to the eastern horoscope her symbol is the Water Horse. Russian nationality.

The girl was born into an Old Believer family. Father Feoktist Evstegneevich worked as a driver all his life, and mother Feodosia Evgenievna took care of the children and ran the household.

“The soloist recalls that my mother was a soft and compliant woman, she obeyed her father in everything. She had noble roots, but when she met Theoktistus, she fell in love with him with all her heart and accepted Old Belief.”

The family was large - the girl had five sisters and only one brother. Her parents died early, but the girl forever retained within herself what they tried to instill in her. She values fidelity, directness and honesty in people.

Soon after Katya's birth, the family moved to Perm, where the girl spent her childhood. Until the age of 4, the baby did not speak. The parents sounded the alarm and consulted doctors. It turned out that Katya has hearing problems. She underwent surgery, after which she was able to hear and spoke immediately.

During her school years, Katya was active and went in for sports (skating, skiing, acrobatics). She even has the first youth category in skiing. However, it was not only sports that fascinated the girl. She loved to sing. The young talent did not go unnoticed. The teachers worked with her, developing her natural talent. Vocal lessons gave amazing results. The girl was also lucky to get to Moscow, where she performed at the All-Russian amateur artistic performance show. Katya became a soloist of the Osinsk Folk Choir (Perm region).

Unfortunately, Shavrina did not have the opportunity to study exclusively vocals. The large family did not live well, so the girl had to get a job after graduating from eight years of age. She worked as a cleaner in a cultural center and as a controller at a telephone factory. The girl managed to enter medical school, but she was expelled after the first year because she could not master Latin.

To work at 14 years old

At the age of 14, Catherine already had to get a job to help her family. Her father worked as a driver, her mother kept house, and there was always not enough money. In order to be accepted as a cleaner at the local House of Culture, she even lied that she was already 16 years old.

Ekaterina devoted all her free time from work to creativity, performing in the Perm regional choir.

A dark streak in the biography of Ekaterina Shavrina came when her parents died one after another. First the father died, and just two years later the mother died. After this, Katya’s childhood finally ended, and concern for the future of her brothers and sisters fell on her fragile shoulders.

Creative career

Despite household worries and problems, Catherine still managed to find time for creativity, because only in it did she find her outlet. As a result, it was thanks to the songs that she was able to get a well-paid job to support her family.

A talented girl passed a competition for the position of soloist in the Volga Folk Choir. Having received the coveted place, she moved to Samara to devote herself to her favorite job, for which they paid decent money.

Her creative career did not stop there. A year later, singer Ekaterina Shavrina successfully performed at the All-Union Amateur Arts Show. Famous musicians pay attention to her. And now Shavrina goes to Moscow, where she enters the All-Russian Creative Workshop in Pop Art.

In 1964, the young folk singer received a position as a soloist at Mosconcert. This is an unprecedented success for a simple girl from the provincial outback. With a repertoire that was built on the performance of Russian folk songs, Shavrina visits a large number of foreign countries. Moreover, creativity opens the “iron curtain” for her. The rising Soviet pop star is allowed to go on tour to France, Switzerland, West Germany and other countries.

Among her most famous songs, we should note the compositions “Bitter Rowan”, “The Lilac Has Bloomed”, “Musbandless”, “Women’s Happiness”, “Grass-Ant”, “White Bird Cherry”, “Chamomile Rus'”, “He Came to Us”, “ Nakurolesila”, “I’ll go out into the street”, “Walking along the Don”, “Seryozha”.

Music

To support her family, Ekaterina passed a competition for a position as a soloist in the Volga State Folk Choir. Having received a place, the girl moves to Samara and devotes herself entirely to work.

Singer Ekaterina Shavrina

A year later, at the All-Union amateur art show, in which Ekaterina showed her own abilities, the girl was invited to the All-Russian creative workshop of pop art. The singer, without hesitation, packs her things and moves to Moscow.

In 1964, the aspiring performer got a job as a soloist at the Mosconcert. The new position opened the “Iron Curtain” for Catherine. With a repertoire based on Russian folk compositions, Shavrina visits Germany, France, Poland and other foreign countries.

Song by Ekaterina Shavrina “I look into the blue lakes”

In 1972, the film “Shadows Disappear at Noon” was released, where the song “Looking into the Blue Lakes,” written specifically for the young singer, was heard in the background for the first time. From this moment on, Ekaterina receives recognition not only abroad, but also at home. Photos of the beautiful performer are published in all popular magazines.

And in the late 80s, the singer unexpectedly left Russia and moved to Germany. There, Ekaterina gets a job in a restaurant, where she performs her already favorite repertoire. Performances in front of visitors to a nightclub bring the soloist of the Mosconcert a much more significant income. After 10 years, the artist decides to return to her homeland.

Ekaterina Shavrina on stage

To meet new trends, Ekaterina slightly changes her musical direction. The performer’s new program includes familiar Russian folk songs, urban romances, as well as light compositions. Since the mid-2000s, interest in the work of Ekaterina Shavrina has flared up with renewed vigor. The artist began to be invited to various talk shows and programs dedicated to music.

Song by Ekaterina Shavrina “Oh, why was this night so good”

In March 2014, the news spread across all news outlets - Ekaterina Shavrina had an accident. The singer was driving her own car and lost control. The artist’s sisters were injured in the accident: Rada Feoktistovna seriously injured her head, and Tatyana (younger sister and program director) died from her injuries.

After the incident, Shavrina was accused of driving while drunk, but it was not possible to prove the presence of alcohol in her blood. In an interview with Andrei Malakhov, Ekaterina admitted that she blames herself for the death of her loved one, and this eats the singer from the inside. Despite the family grief, the singer did not stop her creative activity.

Songs for cinema

In 1972, singer Ekaterina Shavrina gained all-Union fame after performing the song “I look into the blue lakes” in the film “Shadows Disappear at Noon.” The composition is written specifically for the singer; it sounds during the most intense moments of the film, becoming its leitmotif. From that moment on, recognition came to the singer throughout the Soviet Union; Ekaterina Shavrina’s songs are known and sung by everyone without exception.

During perestroika, in the late 80s, Shavrina, unexpectedly for many, decided to leave the country.

Performances in restaurants

She goes to Germany, where she starts working in a restaurant with her usual repertoire. The songs of Ekaterina Shavrina were loved by the German public, and performances in front of guests of the nightclub brought in much more income than at the Mosconcert. The actress returns to her homeland only ten years later.

Explaining the reason for her action, when she abandoned everything in the USSR and went to Germany, Shavrina notes that at that time everything had died out in the country. There was no money anywhere, especially in culture. Mosconcert was falling apart, salaries were constantly being delayed, organizing concerts was becoming more and more difficult each time.

As it turned out later, Shavrina not only sang at the Katyusha restaurant to earn money, but also cleaned the apartment of a German millionaire. Now the singer recalls that she was paid very well for this.

Changing format

In modern Russia, Shavrina understands that she needs to conform to new trends and change the format of her performances. Therefore, in her program, in addition to traditional Russian folk songs, there appear urban romances and very light compositions that listeners like so much.

In the mid-2000s, interest in her work flared up with renewed vigor. Katerina begins to be regularly invited to various talk shows and programs dedicated to music, and interest in Russian folk songs, for which Shavrina has always been so famous, is being revived.

In changing her image, the heroine of our article is helped by the poet Boris Shifrin, who actually became her music producer at that time.

In addition, Shavrina begins to appear on the screen. For example, she starred in one of the episodes of the series “Happy Together”, took part in the project “You are a Superstar”, and the TV show “Two Stars”.

Deadly accident

In the spring of 2014, urgent news spread throughout the media: singer Shavrina was involved in a traffic accident.

As it turned out, she was driving the car herself and lost control. In the accident, her sister Rada suffered serious injuries, injuring her head, and her other sister Tatyana, who was the artist’s program director and the youngest in their family, died from her injuries, which turned out to be incompatible with life.

Shavrina’s car drove into the oncoming lane on the Moscow-Minsk highway, in the Smolensk region. There was a head-on collision. A criminal case was opened against the singer for violating traffic rules, which led to death due to negligence. It was closed due to the reconciliation of the parties.

Shavrina herself received a closed head injury. For her, this car accident, in which she lost a loved one, was a serious blow. In addition, Catherine was accused of being intoxicated while driving. However, according to the results of a forensic examination, no traces of alcohol were found in her blood.

On the “Let Them Talk” program with Andrei Malakhov on Channel One, talking about this tragedy, Shavrina admitted that she still blames herself for the death of a loved one, and even after a while she cannot forgive herself for it.

At the same time, despite the grief in the family, the singer decided not to stop her creative activity. Songs have always remained her only outlet.

Personal life

In Ekaterina Shavrina’s personal life, her husband, whom she met at the beginning of her career, played a big role. It was composer Grigory Ponomarenko. Ekaterina Shavrina’s husband literally from the first day they met surrounded her with love and care, and this touched the girl’s heart. She agreed to live with him, even despite the large age difference, since the man was 27 years older than her.

At the same time, they never formalized their relationship, although they tried. The registry office refused to register them, since such an age difference in marital unions was not encouraged at that time. Despite the bureaucratic obstacles, they turned out to be a real family. Ekaterina Shavrina soon gave birth to a son, Gregory.

True, the union turned out to be short-lived. It broke up after the singer was invited to study and work in Moscow. Ponomarenko categorically refused to move to the capital, but let his beloved go. Warm friendly relations remained between them.

Shavrina is being pursued by a maniac in love

Ekaterina SHAVRINA

A fan defames the singer with scandalous photoshop

December 15 is the birthday of People's Artist of Russia Ekaterina SHAVRINA. On the eve of the celebration, we talked with the singer about the holidays, modern show business, love and men, the secrets of youth and the downside of fame - in particular, about inadequate fans, of which the artist herself has more than once fallen victim. So the other day a scandalous photograph of Ekaterina Feoktistovna appeared on the Internet, which turned out to be a competent photoshop.

The singer suggested meeting at her home - in an apartment located in one of the quiet lanes in the center of Moscow. A surprise awaited me in the spacious living room: in addition to Shavrina, her sisters were also present: they looked like twins, Tatyana and Lyudmila. Making their contribution to the conversation, they adjusted the conversation along the way: adding something, and sometimes stopping the sister from making unnecessary revelations.

Ekaterina Feoktistovna listened to the advice. “Do you think we shouldn’t talk about men?” And don’t we need to talk about white slippers? – she asked her relatives with doubt. “It is necessary, it is necessary,” I fervently urged from my sofa.

Gifts are obligatory

The conversation, naturally, began with the birthday - gifts, guests...

“I don’t like it,” Ekaterina Feoktistovna waved it off.
- This is a big burden. I always have no time; I usually spend my birthdays on the road. This year I stayed in Moscow, which means there will be a reason to gather my relatives at the dacha - I have a lot of them. - But do you like gifts? - No. They oblige me a lot. Believe me, I have never taken anything from a single man in my entire life. Even when they present perfume, I immediately give eau de parfum in return.

Ekaterina SHAVRINA

“And she doesn’t like to accept gifts from us,” Tatyana and Lyusya confirm with regret.
- She gives it to her and dresses her. All my life like this. Even when she separated from her husbands, she bought them apartments as a farewell. - Ekaterina Feoktistovna, did you have many husbands? - The official one is Grigory Lazin , from whom I gave birth to twin daughters Ella and Zhanna. He's already dead. With my first man, the father of my son Gregory, we were not married: a marriage with an age difference of 25 years simply would not have been registered in the Soviet registry office. — They wrote that you also had a husband from Germany. “Just a friend who once found himself in a bad situation.” At the beginning of perestroika, he bought a restaurant in Moscow, but a racket immediately came over. In 24 hours he needed to get unrealistic money - 120 thousand dollars. I went to the Foreign Ministry in the morning, outlined the situation and got a visa - a day later he was already flying to Germany. Well, I’m at the same time: the man has no one there, and through numerous friends I helped him get a job. Now he has his own hotel in the Canaries. — So you really gave your “ex” apartments as parting gifts? - And cars. So as not to be sad and pester. I can live with a person if I love him deeply, but as soon as the feelings pass, I can’t stand being around him. - Today, an established star often keeps a young assistant with her - for example, Ani Girardot, Lyudmila Zykina... Isn’t there a temptation to follow fashion? - What's the use of being young? The women, honestly, are going crazy. It is necessary that communication enriches you: at least it’s nice to talk to an intelligent person. I met with the composer Vitaly Okorokov for a long time - he’s such a head! A walking encyclopedia, he knows everything about world art and literature. We also had a great creative union. What kind of spiritual wealth will you get from having a boy hanging around next to you? I don’t understand women, honestly.

Castro was on his knees

— Is it true that Fidel Castro courted you?

— He liked me as a singer. I have been to Cuba seven times at his personal invitation. He is a true gentleman, he knelt in front of all women. I was friends and corresponded with his assistant, translator and bodyguard Sonya.

— And the story with the sheikh...

— This is when my family and I were on vacation in Sharjah. We went to look at houses for sale, stopped near one, and then two white limousines pulled up. The sheikh came out, got to talking, and went in for tea. Then he sent a little man all the time - he invited him to go for a walk, and to visit. I even called Moscow later. But I'm not interested. Wealth has no value for me, I have never even started a savings book. Mom taught us all to be content with what you have. If you have nothing to eat, eat potatoes and radishes, what a problem!

Fidel CASTRO. Photo from home archive

— In your biography I read that you started working at the age of 14, once and for all taking care of your family. Haven't you really wanted to shift the burden onto wealthy men's shoulders in all these years? Moreover, there were candidates.

“There were candidates, but I understood perfectly well that the rich man only needed me.
And I have five younger sisters, a brother (my parents left us early), then a son and two daughters appeared. Now that everyone is already adults, independent, living separately, it would be possible to improve their personal life. But I have no desire. I went all into creativity: my man, my love is only music. I don’t even know what a day off is. I sleep at most five hours. For me, not working means dying! — What helps you, as they say now, to keep yourself in good shape? - I don’t know what fatigue is. Recently we went to the dacha, and there was so much snow. The thought flashed - to hire someone to clear it. And then Lyusya took shovels and raked all eight acres. That’s how I felt…flying all day! Always like this. I’ll get up lazy, broken. You can wipe it there, put it away there, bend over, wash it. I like to do everything myself.

SHAVRINA in Cuba with Fidel CASTRO

My daughter sometimes sends a housekeeper to me, so I’ll still change it in my own way. This is what gives the charge. It was hard raising twins, but I never complained to anyone. I’ll put the children and my husband to bed, and I’ll prepare dinner from the first, second, third, clean up, and by two o’clock in the morning I’ll be free. And at seven I get up and go to classes and rehearsals for five hours a day. After all, I graduated from the pop art studio, then from the college. Ippolitov-Ivanov, then GITIS in the class “Director of mass performances”. By the way, Utesov signed my graduation diploma. For a long time I rented an apartment on Petrovka, lived in a walk-through room, but with very good people. Then they gave me the first apartment. I had to travel a lot with performances around the province - no one would allow beginning artists to perform in Moscow. Today, singers are just “hatching from the egg”, and they are immediately given central platforms. And we are on trains, on transfer trains, as a whole team... You return home at about five in the morning. Why do you think such artists as Kobzon , Dolina , Khil , Pakhomenko last so long?
We all went through a huge professional school. — By the way, why today has our show business slipped into “plywood”? — You know, for the first time I heard a phonogram about 30 years ago in Turkey, where the friendship festival was held. Demis Roussos came on stage , and I watched backstage and was surprised to realize that he does not sing! In Russia, such a technique was not known at all. And now everything has changed. The West pays for live sound, but ours... better let them sing to a soundtrack. They still don’t know how to do it any other way. This will go away on its own. Then the mediocrities will weed out.

— Do you see promise in any of the current young singers? The future of the national stage?

- It's hard for me to say.
There are good voices - Zara , Daineko . Panayotov is an excellent singer , but he lacks drive. This, by the way, is the problem of many modern performers: in order for the audience to want to hear you, you need to give all your best, from the heart. I myself am a fan of such artists as Beyoncé and Tina Turner. — Which of the real Western stars, besides Roussos, have you performed on the same stage with? - With many. For example, with the group Smokie we gave four joint concerts in Germany. German television called with an invitation. First we worked in the department, and then we sang together - “Kalinka”, “Moscow Nights”... - Do you have a beauty secret? — I don’t have time to go on diets. I'm for plastic surgery. This is the only thing I believe in - no masks will help. A woman should look good in any way she can. I myself, at the age of 38, had a facelift for the only time; somehow there was no need for more.

White sneakers killed love

—Have you had any desired but unsuccessful romances?

- I'll tell you a funny incident. A doctor from Germany, a highly qualified doctor, chairman of the German-Soviet Friendship Society, began to seriously look after me. I even got ready to marry this Christian and met his mother.

Lane DAVIS

He had a huge house, with a clinic nearby. But the absurdity spoiled everything. We haven’t seen each other for five months, and then he comes to Moscow with a group and starts cutting off my phone: I brought you a GIFT! But I still don’t have time to meet: March 8, concerts, terrible workload. He has already involved people from the district executive committee, who also call me, they are ashamed - take at least a gift, the person will leave soon! I found time between concerts, I arrived at the hotel, and Christian nodded to me so proudly at the coat rack in the hallway. I turn around reluctantly. There is a bag hanging, and in it... white canvas slippers. It suddenly became so funny. I guess I'm still alive. I immediately imagined the coffin. I took it, of course, but the condition is depressing. I don’t need anything from him, I’ll buy him anything myself, but such petty fussiness... I immediately thought: how can I continue to live with you like this? Raise a fuss for two days, talk about a gift... It would be better to just buy a beautiful rose. Still, Russian men have a different scope, this is our good trait. In general, I didn’t call Christian again. This is how white slippers ruined my life.

(On this sad note, Catherine could not stand it and laughed).
— There was still an undeveloped romance with actor Lane Davis (played Mason Capwell in “Santa Barbara”). — He proposed marriage to her (the sisters join the conversation). — They met in Russia: they performed in one concert at the House of Cinema, and they had one dressing room between them. Then we went on tour, and his impresario called several times, asking how to find Shavrina and when we would return to Moscow. He said Lane was interested in Katya, he wanted to see her and talk in private. They say he has very serious intentions. But we were never able to get off the tour - we had to go to Yekaterinburg.

Fans are different

— Artists often complain about the inadequacy of their fans. I remember in Brazil, the young singer and serial artist Thiago Fragoso told me how he ran away from a crowd of 10 thousand. Did you get any trouble from the fans?

“Sometimes I’m really afraid of them: fans en masse become a terrible force.”
I’m small and skinny—how much do I need? So I try to escape as quickly as possible. So recently, at a recording of “New Year’s Light” on NTV, a crowd suddenly surrounded me - I couldn’t escape! She hid behind Kharlamov , and while he was puffing away with autographs, she slipped away. There was also an unpleasant moment on the set of the show “Two Stars”. We worked until six in the morning, after which everyone - both artists and spectators - was allowed out the same door. Out of the corner of my eye I notice how, pushing people aside, using his elbows, a tall man purposefully makes his way towards me. He doesn't take his eyes off. I almost panicked - there was nowhere to escape from the crowd. Yulia Kovalchuk, who was following me, intervened .
Seeing that the man was already reaching out to grab my shoulder, the wonderful girl covered me with herself, turned to him and shouted: “What do you want? What do you want?" He was taken aback, and I quickly got into the car. Sometimes you encounter unmotivated rudeness. So, on the plane to Simferopol, a man accosted me: he chased away the neighbors, settled down next to me and started talking to me. When I asked to give me the opportunity to rest - there was a hard day ahead - he began to be rude and call me names: “What are you pretending to be?” Unfortunately, this case is not an isolated one. — Has it ever happened that the situation got out of control?

“Once a man just killed me in an elevator.”
I then lay in Sklifosovsky with two wounds, a vertebral disorder. (With these words, Shavrina bowed her head and showed a small scar on the back of her neck). “And he wasn’t interested in my fur coat or money.” In appearance, he is a wealthy man, very handsome. He just lay in wait, followed him into the cabin, started strangling him, stabbing him with some kind of blunt instrument - a screwdriver, probably. After that, I made a vow to myself to never dress brightly. - How did you escape then? — She broke free, screamed loudly, and he ran away. The neighbors called the police - literally in five minutes the area around my house was surrounded. But they didn't catch me. The sisters pick up the story: “But now scandalous photographs have appeared on the Internet - allegedly, the singer is performing without underwear! We don't know who mounted it. Pictures were more than once sent to Ekaterina’s email with various vulgar comments. At first we didn't attach any importance to this. Katya has a lot of fans - she’s so bright and lively on stage, always smiling. It used to be that fans were on duty outside our house. The doorbell rings, you go out - there is a cake, a large doll or huge bouquets on the threshold. One guy even moved specifically to Moscow, found a job, and stood under the windows with flowers for hours. Until the blinds were closed. But he is loving, calm, quiet. And the current one is simply a “virtual” maniac who, apparently, has a very big imagination. We constantly remove his comments, photos, and poems from the official website. We try to track it on other resources, please remove the pictures. But the man does not calm down, and so far we cannot figure him out.

Photos on the Internet turned out to be montages

— I must admit, the photoshop turned out to be of such high quality that we in the editorial office fell for it too. However, today the public is so accustomed to naked show business that it is no longer surprised when Pugacheva goes out to the people in Jurmala in a transparent dress, allowing her faded charms to be seen in detail. Or when Lolita comes to a conference in a thin knitted dress, emphasizing the lack of underwear...

Ekaterina Feoktistovna protests vehemently: “I won’t judge others.”
But personally, I cannot afford such behavior. Otherwise, what kind of people’s artist am I, Russian? Yes, I would be ashamed to look into the eyes of my viewers! And why should I be naked? Thank God, they love me for something completely different. To prove her words, the singer brought a dress in which she was “photoshopped”: under the light outer skirt there was a narrow underskirt, the hem of which, no matter how you twist it, would not rise. To completely dot the i’s, we trusted the opinion of an expert from the INTRID web-studio design bureau, who issued a verdict: “The installation is obvious. The disproportion of the body is very striking - the buttocks are strongly shifted to the right relative to the body, also the angle of rotation of the body is more than 30 degrees relative to the plane of the screen, the attached legs are almost in the plane of the screen.”

Official marriage

In Moscow, even the Cuban leader Fidel Castro and a married Argentine politician, whose name Catherine still hides out of concern for his reputation, courted the already famous singer for some time.

And in 1983, an important event occurred in the biography of Ekaterina Shavrina. She married musician Grigory Lazdin.

They met backstage, right during the concert in which they performed. In this marriage, two daughters were born to Ekaterina Shavrina. The girls were named Ella and Zhanna. Lazdin died in 2005. After his death, the singer decided for herself that she would devote all her remaining time only to her children and grandchildren.
