History of the group's creation
The official founding date of Ivanushki International is November 10, 1994. The group did not get its name right away. At first, the guys performed as the Soyuz-Apollo trio. The first composition of the group “Ivanushki International” is Igor Sorin, Andrey Grigoriev-Apollonov and Kirill Andreev. At that time, their songs were not popular, and fans did not line up in crowds in front of the entrance to the concert hall.
Six months after the formation of the trio, the sonorous name “Ivanushki International” appeared. The poet Herman Vitke helped the guys with this. He came up with only the first part of the name, and the author of the second part is producer Igor Matvienko.
Creation
The composition of the group “Ivanushki International” announced above began to work. 2 years after its creation, the trio released their debut album, called “Of course it is.” It included the songs “Ring”, “Somewhere” and “Clouds”, which later became hits and brought the group unprecedented popularity. These compositions were played in discos throughout the country.
The second album, “Your Letters,” was released in 1997. It included original compositions, as well as cover versions of songs that were popular in past years. Among them we can highlight “Little Sister”, “Alyoshka’s Love” and so on.
In 1998, the composition of the Ivanushki International group changed. Fans no longer saw photos of Andrei, Kirill and Igor on posters. Sorin decided to develop a solo career. But this did not mean that Ivanushki International ceased to exist. The composition of the group has not changed from a trio to a duet. Igor Sorin's place was taken by a short, fair-haired guy, Oleg Yakovlev. At that time, the song “Poplar Down” appeared in the group’s repertoire, which subsequently repeatedly took first place in the Russian Radio chart. At first, fans did not want to accept Oleg and demanded the return of their beloved Igor Sorin. But the sweet and handsome guy was still able to melt their hearts.
Music
Igor Matvienko, assembling a team for a new group, planned to create a completely new style of performance. As a result, the producer and musicians really managed to combine several directions in the songs: shades of Russian folk music, the best traditions of Soviet pop music and, of course, Western dance rhythms.
The first album, released in 1996, gave the group popularity and love of millions of fans. And the compositions “Universe” (a cover of the song by Alexander Ivanov), “Ring”, “Clouds” still remain popular and relevant.
The following year, the team gave fans two albums at once - “Of course he is (remix)” and “Your letters”. The first included remixes and updated versions of already popular songs, while the second consisted of new releases and cover versions of popular songs by other artists. And again, the popularity of the records exceeded even the wildest expectations of the soloists and producer.
The first clips also appeared, which at that time were played on, perhaps, all channels. In 1997, fans met a new member of the group - Oleg Yakovlev, who first appeared in the video for the song “Dolls”. The next hit, called “Poplar Down,” was recorded with the participation of Oleg.
1999 was marked for the band with the release of two more albums. The performers dedicated the first, “Fragments of Life,” to the deceased Igor Sorin, collecting his unreleased songs and poems into one disc. The collection ended with the composition “I will never forget you,” which became an appeal to Igor. The second disc, “I’ll Scream About This All Night,” presented listeners with new compositions by their favorite group.
The next album from the prolific band was released a year later, in 2000. The album was called “Wait for Me.” And two years later, fans became acquainted with the album “Oleg, Andrey, Kirill,” which again blew up the charts. This album includes the compositions “A Drop of Light”, “Beznadega.ru”, “Golden Clouds”.
Oleg, Andrey and Kirill were again surrounded by the love of fans and fame. Unfortunately, this record would later be called the last successful work of the Ivanushki International group. However, while the trio was at the peak of popularity, and photographs and posters of the soloists were kept, perhaps, in the collection of every music lover.
With the next album, released in 2005, “Ivanushki” summed up a kind of conclusion of their own creativity, collecting under one cover the best songs of past years, performed together with the groups “Factory”, “Korni” and other young groups. The album is called “10 years in the Universe.”
A year later, the group presented to the audience a new composition called “Oriole”. The verdict was disappointing: the song never became a hit. This was the beginning of a decline in the band’s popularity; the guys stopped recording compositions, but continued to constantly tour and participate in holiday concerts and popular TV shows.
The performers celebrated the group's fifteenth birthday on stage: a concert tour across the country and a gala concert in the capital allowed fans to meet their idols again and remember their favorite compositions. And three years later, “Ivanushki” introduced a new member of the group - Kirill Turichenko, who replaced Oleg Yakovlev, who went solo.
In 2015, the band, renewed for the second time, released the long-awaited record. A full 10 years have passed since the release of the previous album, so the collection of new songs was received with a bang by fans, but, unfortunately, “Ivanushki” was never able to achieve its former popularity.
“Golden” composition of the group “Ivanushki International”
A year after the appearance of Oleg Yakovlev, the trio released the album “Fragments of Life”. The participants decided to dedicate it to the memory of Igor Sorin, who fell to his death. Some songs were written based on poems by the former soloist.
In April 1999, Andrey, Kirill and Oleg released their third disc, which was called “I’ll scream about this all night.” The song of the same name was performed by the red-haired “Ivanushka”.
Between 1999 and 2005, two more albums were released, containing new compositions and cover versions of favorite songs.
Success story of the group “Ivanushki International”
Over the course of almost 17 years of its existence, this group has not lost its charm, genuine sincerity and radiance. A whole generation of Russian girls grew up on the songs of the group, and to this day they have not lost their love for the three symbols of the Russian stage. The mystery of the popularity of one of the country's first boy bands cannot be explained, it can only be felt.Initially, Igor Matvienko relied on the performance of English-language songs. The guys recorded the song “Stay away” and presented it at the world festival of producers. The song was not well received. Then Igor Igorevich realized that, as they say, people don’t go to Tula with their samovar, and decided to translate it into Russian. “Ivanushki International” presented the country with the creation “Where are you.” It immediately became popular and loved by many. Soon the first video was shot, but for the composition “Universe”.
«In this song, we were looking for ourselves in the studio, how we can work with each other, where it is better for someone to sing, in unison, a duet. They did this not on new material, but on old material known to the composer Igor. He is the author of this song, that is, our first song was someone else’s, so as not to sweat once again, let’s say, the composer
».
In 1996, Ivanushki International released their first studio album, “Of Course He.” It included such hits as “Somewhere”, “Sunflowers” and “Clouds”. It is noteworthy that the last composition was originally supposed to go to Yuri Shatunov, but by chance this song was eventually performed by Ivanushki International. The guys themselves could not have imagined then that she would become so popular and universally loved. And even more so, the team did not count on the title of hit.
«We worked in the studio as if we were working on an ordinary song, that is, we didn’t have the feeling that it would become a hit. And when it came to filming a video, the requirement was to shoot a video for the song “Ring” or “Raspberry”. And we, at our own peril and risk, decided to shoot a video for the song “Clouds”, and this is pure trip-hop, that is, it was recognized as the best by both the Om magazine, the most advanced, and the Ptyuch magazine
».
In the same year, on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, Igor Sorin and Andrei Grigoriev-Apollonov Kirill Andreev recorded a video for the song “Clouds”. After appearing on television, young people became people's favorites. Millions of girls in the country went crazy for them, who even disrupted concerts of other groups, recall members of the Na-na group.
«We are connected with the group “Ivanushki International” by common fans, admirers, admirers. Even I remember when we came to Sochi, Ivanushki’s fans came to our concerts, especially to disrupt it
».
However, the success of Ivanushki International is not only the merit of Igor Matvienko and the work of Andrey, Igor and Kirill. Behind the phenomenon of this group are more than a dozen talented people.
«Huge team. There is Igor the composer, there is a sound engineer and arranger, and co-producer Igor Polonsky, who brings his own. There is the poet Alexander Shaganov, Mikhail Andreev. This is such a creative team effort. We are like the tip of the iceberg, and there are still a huge number of people under water
».
In 1997, the group released their second album, “Your Letters,” which included 11 songs, including “Aleshkina’s Love,” “Little Sister,” and “Girl-Girl.” After the release of the record, the group “Ivanushki International” began to take first place in all the country’s charts. They were invited to concerts and corporate events. The popularity of the group grew every day like a snowball. Even now, 14 years later, Andrei Grigoriev-Apollonov admits that the first 2 albums became the most significant for their creativity and success.
«The greatest demand, so to speak, is the first 2 albums. And during our concerts, we sing 70% of songs from these albums, because they are the most beloved and most recognizable and everyone knows them, because hysteria and fanaticism have begun. On these two albums they were just fighting back
».
March 1998 becomes significant for the history of the Ivanushki International group. Igor Sorin leaves the team. He decides to pursue a solo career, but in September his life ends. For fans, and for those people who worked with the boy band, this was a real tragedy. People still remember Igor, love him, and listen to his songs. From that moment on, the no less talented Oleg Yakovlev took his place in the group. His debut took place in the video “Doll”. In the same year, the sensational hit “Poplar Pooh” was released. It became a real anthem of the summer, including for the member of the Factory group Sasha Savelyeva.
«I have just such memories associated with Poplar Down. I was at a summer camp, and we performed this song in a competition. Of course, I have such warm and bright memories from this song, and of course, musically, Igor Matvienko is also a brilliant composer, the guys are also great, they performed everything in style
».
In April 1999, Ivanushki International released the disc “I’ll Scream About This All Night.” The record itself, in addition to the musical content, for the first time included a multimedia track on which the composition “Bullfinches” was recorded, as well as a mini-film about the filming of the video. After this, “Ivanushki” released 2 more albums. And in 2005, to mark the group’s anniversary, the album “10 Years in the Universe” was released. It includes songs from past years that have not lost the public’s love and popularity.
«In any case, we are loved by people. Not all of us, of course, some people can’t stand us, that’s for sure. We are so loved by people that we can sing old songs for another 15 years
».
In 2008, Ivanushki decided to create an album that would include the entire history of the group. During the existence of the team, they were repeatedly asked the question about the secret of popularity and such crazy success. Oleg Yakovlev believes that initially Igor Matvienko wanted to get a mix of different performers, each of whom knew what he wanted and was talented in his own way. But, meanwhile, the guys had to look in one direction. A mixture of performance styles, voices and sounds was presented to the country by the group “Ivanushki International”
«All three of us are very different. And when the viewer comes, he, firstly, does not break off when he listens, does not break off visually, and in each of us some kind of life story is visible, and what is visible, probably to say loudly, is the soul. You can see how the person lived, what he experienced
».
Andrey Grigoriev-Apollonov has his own opinion on this issue.
«There are five components, after all, this is our talent, let’s not pretend now, but we are quite talented guys. This, secondly, is charisma. Impersonal and faceless, of course, are of no interest to anyone. Third, this is again a song. This is perhaps the most important thing, to have a song that people will love. The fourth is wild hard work, that is, we are plowing, have been plowing and will continue to plow. But the fifth and most important thing is just fortune, basic luck
».
“Ivanushki” has gone through a lot over the 17 years of its existence. A huge number of concerts, shows with their participation, television and radio programs. But what is noteworthy is that not once during this time were there serious conflicts within the boy band. Despite the absolute difference in voices, appearance and characters, they perceive each other not as colleagues, but practically as siblings. As for the tastes of the participants of “Ivanushka International”, they are not limited only to the creativity of the group itself. Young people have their own preferences on our stage.
«I have respected people who, I understand, have done for the country. Of course, these are Kobzon, Leshchenko, Pugacheva, Rotaru, Zhanna Aguzarova, Butusov, the Moral Code group, Noskov. There are, of course, people I respect
».
“Ivanushki” does not stop there. In addition to the collective success of the group, Andrei, Kirill, and Oleg are also trying to make a personal contribution to the history of the country. So Andrey became a solo artist. His debut took place with the song “Remember Me”.
«Recorded the last two songs: “Remember Me” and “It’s Important That It Rains.” I was also approved for the main role in the film “Prukha
».
Oleg dreams of acting in a movie.
«I’ll grow up and clean up the enterprise. I have this idea, I already found almost everything, and then it broke off. I didn't want all this theatrical action
».
Andrey went into business and opened a restaurant in the very heart of Moscow, which, by the way, is very popular among city residents.
«It took me a long time to get to this point, actually. Even 10 or 12 years ago, Arkady Novikov, our outstanding restaurateur, offered me to open a cafe together with him, most likely there was no time. When? We were passing through Moscow. And a couple of years ago, the company Ginza-Project invited me to collaborate with it. Over the course of a couple of years, I wasn’t that capricious, but at least I chose a place, they showed me a lot of places. And finally, they showed me this cafe. This is the new Arbat, the heart of Moscow
».
The Ivanushki International group has never been like all other groups in Russian show business. They always approached their creativity with a dose of humor, but at the same time, they invested in such qualities as hard work, endurance, and most importantly, professionalism. This, perhaps, is the success of the boy band “Ivanushki International”.

Andrey Grigoriev-Apollonov
The red-haired soloist of “Ivanushek International” was born on July 26, 1970 in the sunny city of Sochi. His father is a surgeon, and his mother held the position of administrator of a winter theater.
At school, Andrei was seriously interested in table tennis. He took part in competitions and often took prizes. Years later, our hero even became a candidate for master of sports in tennis. But Grigoriev-Apollonov always considered music to be his main hobby. Since childhood, he attended a music school, where he studied piano.
Andrei has studied at the Academy of Theater Arts, worked as a fashion model and director of theatrical performances for children. In 1992, the red-haired “Ivanushka” went to the USA, where he lived for 2 years, performing in a musical on Broadway. He soon returned to Russia and became a member of a youth group.
Kirill Andreev
The dark-haired lead singer of “Ivanushki” was born on April 6, 1971 in Moscow. His father worked as a builder, and his mother received the profession of a printing engineer. Kirill spent his childhood in Kuzminki. There he went to a regular school, and then to a technical school. In 1989, the guy was drafted into the army. Two years later, Andreev returned home. The guy immediately signed up for the kickboxing section. In a short time, Kirill managed to create an excellent athletic figure. This allowed him to build a successful modeling career. In 1993, Natalya Vetlitskaya introduced him to producer Igor Matvienko.
Oleg Yakovlev
The blonde from Ivanushki International was born on November 18, 1969 in the Mongolian city of Choibalsan. His parents went there on a business trip. The family returned to Russia when Oleg graduated from first grade. The Yakovlevs settled in Irkutsk. In this city, our hero went to a regular school and attended a music school several times a week (piano class).
Having received a diploma from the Irkutsk Theater School, Oleg went to Moscow. In the capital, Yakovlev submitted a document to GITIS. By assignment, he ended up on a course with Armen Dzhigarkhanyan.
In 1998, the producer of the trio “Ivanushki International” became interested in him. The composition of the group changed at that time. Oleg fit all the criteria: fair-haired, short, with a pleasant voice and musical education.
Career continuation
In 2005, Andrey, Oleg and Kirill completed work on creating the album “10 Years in the Universe”. The sales volume of the disc did not meet the expectations of the producer and the musicians themselves. Unfortunately, the career of “Ivanushki” began to decline. But there is nothing surprising here. After all, many groups have appeared on the Russian stage, the soloists of which are young, handsome and talented guys.
In 2010, a documentary film was released telling the story of the emergence of Ivanushki International, as well as the group’s path to success. Only the creative moments were highlighted in the film. And the details of the personal lives of the soloists were revealed in the program “Star Relatives”, aired on Channel One.
By 2012, the group’s creative treasury included 13 released albums, dozens of hits and hundreds of concerts. Photographs of Andrey, Oleg and Kirill adorned the pages of popular magazines. But in the same year, Yakovlev announced his retirement and the start of a solo career.

“Ivanushki International”: new line-up of the group
Fans were very upset about the departure of Oleg Yakovlev. But that is his decision. In 2012, the composition of the Ivanushki International group changed again. Kirill Turichenko is the name of the new soloist. He was born on January 13, 1983 in Odessa. From an early age, the guy attended music and theater schools. In 2002, Kirill got a job at the Odessa Comedy Theater. Turichenko was involved in more than 500 performances and musicals.
In 2006, his solo career began. The guy participated in Eurovision and performed at various festivals. In his native Ukraine, he released several solo albums and starred in a dozen videos. In 2012, Kirill Turichenko moved to Moscow and was invited to join the Ivanushki International group. He took the place of Oleg Yakovlev, who voluntarily terminated the contract.
Compound
The official founding date of the Ivanushki International group is November 1994. It was then that three young people - Igor Sorin, Andrei Grigoriev-Apollonov and Kirill Andreev - first appeared on the same stage together. This trio became the first composition of the team. Each of the singers already had some experience working on stage, but the musicians had yet to learn how to work as a single team.
Andrey Grigoriev-Apollonov
Andrey Grigoriev-Apollonov can perhaps be called the brightest member of the team. And not only for his cheerful disposition and artistry, but also for his appearance. The performer quickly acquired the nickname “the redhead from Ivanushki.” Andrey is from Sochi, born on June 26, 1972. Before getting to Igor Matvienko’s casting, Andrei managed to graduate from music school and a pedagogical college, work as a fashion model and even stage several performances at the Sochi Drama Theater.
The second member of the original composition of the Ivanushki group is Kirill Andreev. Kirill is a Muscovite, born on April 6, 1971. From the first days, Andreev got used to the image of a macho, the main seducer of women's hearts. His textured appearance was the reason why Igor Matvienko invited the young man to the casting.
Kirill Andreev
Until that moment, Kirill worked as a model and did not even think about a musical career. However, as it turned out, Kirill Andreev’s vocal abilities suited the “Ivanushki” trio well.
From the open and cheerful Andrei and brutal Kirill, the third member of the group, Igor Sorin, was distinguished by greater external calm and thoughtfulness. Igor made such an impression for a reason - it was he who became the author of many of the group’s songs. The creative principle can be traced in Igor since childhood (the singer was born on November 10, 1969 in Moscow). The theater studio, music school, work on stage - all this shaped Igor’s talent and allowed him to become the idol of thousands of music lovers.
Igor Sorin
Unfortunately, Igor did not stay with the group members for long: in 1998, the musician decided to start a solo project. And in September of the same year, Sorin died. The singer fell from a 6th floor balcony. A few days later, Igor Sorin died in the hospital.
Igor’s place in the Ivanushki International group was taken by Oleg Yakovlev. Oleg was distinguished by his unusual oriental appearance, artistry and excellent plasticity, which allowed the singer to perform incredible dance somersaults on stage. Oleg Yakovlev was born on November 18, 1970 in the Mongolian city of Choibalsan.
Oleg Yakovlev
The singer quickly found a common language with the rest of the “Ivanushki” and also won the love of music lovers. In this, Oleg was helped not only by charm, but also by talent: the musician also had a music school, an athletics section, and even experience working on the stage of the Armen Dzhigarkhanyan Theater.
Oleg Yakovlev, by a strange and tragic coincidence, joined the list of deceased group members. In 2013, the musician left the band to pursue a solo career. And four years later, in 2017, fans were shocked by the news of the singer’s death. As it became known later, Oleg died due to worsening pneumonia and cirrhosis of the liver.
Kirill Turichenko
Oleg Yakovlev’s place in 2013 was taken by another Kirill named Turichenko. The new member of “Ivanushki” is a little younger than his colleagues: the artist was born on January 13, 1983 in Odessa. Kirill has considerable experience working on stage. Turichenko tried his hand both as a singer and as an actor. Perhaps that is why the young man quickly became part of the team and at concerts behaved as if he had been working with the Ivanushki International group from the very beginning.
