Favorite “Three Musketeers”: which of the actors is no longer alive (including the director)

Igor Starygin: family, childhood

The hero of this article was born in Moscow, this happened in June 1946. Igor Starygin was born into a family far from the world of dramatic art. His father was a civilian pilot, and his mother worked in various jobs.

The father left the family when the boy was not yet a year old. The mother tried to feed the family and devoted little time to her son. The child's upbringing was mainly done by the grandparents. Igor admired his grandfather, an NKVD employee. He wanted to become a scout to be like him. He liked to play with his grandfather's weapons. The boy also enjoyed reading detective stories.

Choice of profession

In the fifth grade, Igor Starygin began studying in a theater studio. He did not take this hobby seriously. The boy liked the process of preparing for performances rather than the actual performance on stage. He was attracted by the opportunity to create scenery and watch the girls sew costumes.

In high school, Igor had no doubt that he would continue his education at the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University. Starygin went to enroll in a theater university with friends. Unexpectedly for everyone, and first of all for himself, he became a student at GITIS. Vasily Aleksandrovich Orlov took the talented young man into his workshop.

Theater

Igor Starygin graduated from GITIS in 1968. The aspiring actor brilliantly played Khlestakov in the graduation performance “The Inspector General”. The Moscow Youth Theater hospitably opened its doors to him; Igor spent about six years serving in this theater. Then, for ten years, Starygin performed on the stage of the Mossovet Theater.

In 1983, Igor began collaborating with the theater-studio “At the Nikitsky Gate”, where he was invited by Mark Rozovsky. His main achievement was the role of Johannes in the production of “The Diary of a Seducer.” In 1996, the actor moved to the Moscow Art Theater named after M. Gorky, which he left in 2000.

From obscurity to fame

GITIS students were strictly forbidden to act in films. From the biography of Igor Starygin it follows that he violated this ban more than once. The young man first appeared on the set in 1967. Igor played a minor role in the military drama “Retribution”. The screening of the film was postponed for political reasons, so Starygin’s “crime” went unnoticed.

The next film role gave the GITIS student his first fans. When Starygin came to audition for the film “We’ll Live Until Monday” for the first time, Stanislav Rostotsky refused him. However, then Igor was contacted and asked to come for approval.

The student brilliantly played the role of high school student Kostya Batishchev. His character became a cold, insensitive, arrogant and spoiled young man. Such a hero could not help but attract attention. The film “We'll Live Until Monday” fell in love with thousands of viewers, and Starygin gained his first fans.

Star falling down

Starygin was only 22 years old when he played Kostya Batishchev in the cult film “We'll Live Until Monday.” And he immediately became the object of sighs of all Soviet women, and the directors tore him to pieces. It seemed that there was only a “red carpet” ahead and even the coveted role of Hamlet was within his reach. However, his filmography barely includes four dozen roles - and even then, by and large, the average person will remember only two of them. “Aramis” in “Musketeers”, and officer Danovich in “State Border”.

However, it was they who turned Starygin into a romantic hero-lover, an officer-seducer - and there were only one or two films with the main character of this role. In Soviet times, Stakhanovites, tractor drivers, and combine operators came to the fore - but not a single director was able to imagine “Aramis” driving a tractor. In later times, with the collapse of the USSR, domestic cinema switched to “Kataly”, “Zhmurki”, and “Brigade”. And there, even more so, there was no place for the romance of Starygin.

In general, the roles became fewer and fewer. Alcohol came to the rescue - it became more and more. But this attempt to forget also failed. I even had to quit the theater at the Nikitsky Gate - my health was in bad shape. Nerves, blood vessels, atherosclerosis. He fainted, his legs hurt so much that he could not even get up on stage. They put someone else in his place - and he sat backstage and cried quietly. One after another - several operations. And here is one of the main handsome men of Soviet cinema - sick, lonely and useless to anyone.

First roles

After graduating from GITIS, Igor Starygin began actively acting in films. The directors were happy to offer roles to the talented, attractive and charming guy. In 1969, the mini-series “His Excellency’s Adjutant” was presented to the audience, which is based on real events that took place during the Civil War. Igor got a small but bright role. He played the charming lieutenant Mickey.

This was followed by one of the main roles in the crime drama Charged with Murder. The film tells the story of how a group of drunken young men beat up a couple in love. Then the actor appeared in the biographical drama “The Old House,” which is dedicated to the life of the philosopher, revolutionary and writer A. I. Herzen.

Directors often assigned Starygin the roles of negative characters. This is exactly what he got to play in the film adaptation of Stendhal’s famous work “The Red and the Black.” In this film, the actor embodied the image of the Marquis Norbert de la Mole.

Finest hour

The taste of real fame was felt in 1979 by Igor Starygin. The actor's filmography was supplemented by the mini-series "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers", the plot of which was borrowed from the famous work of Dumas. The musical adventure comedy by Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich was an extraordinary success among the audience. The story of four friends who were ready to sacrifice their lives for each other has sank into the hearts of many. The songs from the film have been sung for many years.

Igor got the role of the handsome aristocrat Aramis. His hero is a musketeer with an attractive appearance and great success with women. Initially, Yungvald-Khilkevich planned to entrust this role to Abdulov. Mikhail Boyarsky drew the director's attention to the actor Starygin. He convinced the master to look at the painting “His Excellency’s Adjutant.” Igor, with his aristocratic appearance, blue eyes and thin fingers, made a great impression on Yungvald-Khilkevich. The director immediately offered him the role.

Characteristics

He was a young man of about twenty-two or twenty-three, with a simple-minded and somewhat sweet expression on his face, black eyes and blush on his cheeks, covered, like a peach in autumn, with velvety down. A thin mustache set off his upper lip in an impeccably regular line. He seemed to avoid lowering his hands for fear that the veins on them might swell. From time to time he pinched the earlobes to preserve their delicate color and transparency. He spoke little and slowly, bowed often, laughed silently, revealing beautiful teeth, which, like his entire appearance, he apparently carefully looked after.

It is quite obvious that Aramis is prone to some kind of posing; in company he liked to boast of both his poetic talent and knowledge of Latin. He does not make a very serious impression, but he has courage and courage. D'Artagnan, after his first meeting with Aramis, which occurred during the pursuit of a stranger from Meng, gives him the following description: “ Aramis is meekness itself, grace personified. Would it even occur to anyone to call Aramis a coward? Of course no!

»

It can be said that Aramis is secretive and cunning even with his friends, although he is quite sensitive. He secretly loved the queen's best friend, Marie de Chevreuse, whom he called "cousin seamstress" to his friends, but also maintained a long relationship with her cousin Camille de Bois-Tracy. His feelings for her finally cooled down only by the events of the third book, however, having become a general of the Jesuit Order, Aramis changed, becoming a real intriguer, as evidenced by his participation in the installation of the Iron Mask on the throne.

Being the opposite of Porthos, Aramis is attached to him. It was Aramis who summoned Porthos to Belle-Île, convincing him to become the engineer of the fortress, which was the possession of Fouquet. After the death of Porthos at the end of the book “The Vicomte de Bragelonne,” Aramis mourns him with sincerity, which by that time was already unusual for him. By the events of the last part of the trilogy, Aramis, one might say, betrays the ideals of the musketeers, and d'Artagnan, dying, says the following words: “ Athos, Porthos, see you soon.” Aramis, goodbye forever!

"However, there is an opinion that in this case the translator made a mistake. K: Wikipedia: Articles without sources (type: not specified)[

] The word “adieu”, translated as “farewell”, in the Gascon dialect has The literal meaning is “a Dieu”, “with God”. Then d'Artagnan's phrase can be regarded as a request to God to support his friend who was left alone, and this means that he forgave Aramis for his fatal mistake.

Aramis’s age is mentioned already in the first book of The Three Musketeers, where it is said that “He was a young man of about twenty-two or twenty-three, with a simple-minded and somewhat sweet expression on his face, with black eyes and a blush on his cheeks, covered like a peach in autumn, velvety fluff. A thin mustache set off the upper lip with an impeccably regular line.” Accordingly, from this description one can judge that he was born in 1604 or 1605, since the book takes place in 1627. At the end of the story, Aramis is the only one left alive after being exiled in Spain and even appears in the epilogue of the last part of the books about the musketeers. In the epilogue he is mentioned with the words “white as snow, stooped old man.”[2]

Films of the 1980-1990s

What did Igor Starygin do in the 1980s? Films with his participation continued to be released. For example, the actor convincingly played the White Guard Vladimir Danovich in the first and second parts of “State Border”. Few people know that this picture was initially banned from showing. The director’s acquaintance with Galina Brezhneva helped him achieve the lifting of the ban.

Then Igor appeared in films and TV series, which are listed below.

  • "First time married."
  • "Moon Rainbow".
  • "Shining World"
  • "Before we part."
  • "Seven Elements"
  • "Snake catcher."
  • "Listen in the compartments."
  • "55 degrees below zero."
  • "Road to hell".
  • "Shot in the coffin."

In 1993, the films “The Musketeers 20 Years Later” and “The Secret of Queen Anne, or The Musketeers 30 Years Later” were released. Starygin again tried on the image of the charming Aramis, a favorite of women. Unfortunately, the films were not particularly successful with viewers.

Prototypes of the Three Musketeers. Who are they?

In August 1931, a monument to d'Artagnan was unveiled in Paris. And not to the d'Artagnan who actually existed, but to the character of Dumas' famous novels. His friends have also managed to acquire monuments since then. Alexey Durnovo - about the people whom Dumas the Father made world celebrities.

Athos

Athos and d'Artagnan duel

His real name was Armand de Silleg d'Athos d'Auteville (1615−1643). Only his name has something in common with the famous hero Dumas. And this despite the fact that “Athos” serves as a pseudonym for the character and apparently refers to Mount Athos. Nevertheless, these few letters are the only connection between the book Athos and the real Athos.

However, there is another similarity. Armand de Silleg also served in a musketeer company. He did not, however, belong to the ancient French aristocracy. Not even close. He was a Gascon nobleman who came from a seedy family. Probably extremely poor and relying on distant relatives entrenched in Paris. Many people did this back then. Athos was the cousin of Armand-Jean de Treville, the commander of one of the musketeer companies. It must be said that at first the musketeers were not the elite at all. Treville formed this part from his fellow Gascons or, at worst, people from the southern regions of France. The attitude towards them was rather dismissive. The elite is where the children of aristocrats serve, and here are some trash from the impoverished south.

The book Athos died in his bed, the real one was killed in a duel

Young Silleg arrived in Paris around 1638. He did not gain much fame in the capital, but he got into trouble. His service ended in 1643, when Athos was killed in a duel near the Pré-au-Claire market. Comte de La Fère - this, let me remind you, is the real name of Athos - had nothing to do with the musketeer. Moreover, the mentioned count did not exist at all in the 17th century. But there was an estate with a castle, which at that moment belonged to Queen Anne of Austria. Castle de La Fère played a fairly important strategic role in France during the Wars of Religion. The troops of Henry III recaptured this fortress from the Protestants several times. However, the de La Fer family itself ceased to exist by the beginning of the 17th century. Among the holders of the Order of the Holy Spirit, established in 1580, one can find the name de La Fère, but this worthy nobleman died almost 30 years before the birth of Athos.

Porthos

Isaac de Porto (1617−1712). One of the few musketeers who came not from Gascony, but from nearby Béarn. Here it is necessary to say at least that he managed to live for an incredibly long time. 95 years for the 17th century is no joke.

Another interesting fact: the prototype of Porthos was a Protestant. His Huguenot grandfather fought against Catholics during the Wars of Religion and, apparently, was in good standing with Henry of Navarre himself. There is information that he was an ordinary arquebuser, but apparently he shot very well. But the musketeer’s father chose a completely peaceful occupation and served as a notary in his native Gascony, never leaving its borders.

But Porthos the Father was friends with the governor of Béarn, Jacques de La Fosse. Obviously, it was this friend who patronized the prototype of Porthos. However, Isaac served under Treville for about a couple of years. The company itself was disbanded in 1646. Nevertheless, Porthos remained in Paris for some time. He retired in 1650 and went back to Béarn. There he received the position of chief of the arsenal of the Navarran fortress.

The real Porthos lived for almost a hundred years

Porthos' character's real name is Chevalier (later Baron) du Vallon de Brassier de Pierrefonds. Vallon, Brassier and Pierrefonds are the names of properties in France, which, however, have nothing to do with each other. To be precise, the name Brassier is generally quite common. There are estates and even castles with this name in many regions of France. The Pierrefonds estate still has a castle, which is similar in description to the one mentioned in the novel “Twenty Years Later” (the musketeers are holding the captive Mazarin there). The real Pierrefonds castle, however, is not located near Paris, as in the book, but in the south, near the mouth of the Rhone.

Aramis

His name was Henri d'Aramitz (1620−1674). Very little is known about him, to say nothing at all. Apparently, the prototype of Aramis was born in Gascony, but this is, as they say, calculated. Let's just say this version is most likely, because more or less all of de Triville's musketeers came from this region. This company captain, this Aramis, like Athos, was a cousin, and his service life was limited to a couple of years. Apparently, due to health reasons, Aramis retired around the same 1650 as the prototype of Porthos, after which he returned to Gascony and got married. Aramis's wife was a certain Mademoiselle de Bonasse, who bore her husband three sons. Nothing is known about the further fate of Aramis. He died around 1674.

Unlike the character, the real Aramis was married

In the final chapters of the novel The Vicomte de Bragelonne, Aramis, by that time a general of the Jesuit Order, bears the title of Duke d'Alameda. The title, which is characteristic, is Spanish, for Aramis accepted the citizenship of this country. The names of all the generals of the Society of Jesus are widely known. There is no d'Alameda among them. But among the simple adherents of the order there are two of them. And both could have been donors to Aramis' last name. The first served in the order precisely at the time when the actions of “The Vicomte de Bragelonne” unfold. José Ruiz Ramon d'Alameda was the head of the Jesuit mission in Santiago, Cuba. Around the same years, this mission ceased to exist as unnecessary. The second Alameda was a contemporary of the father of Alexandre Dumas. Difficult times then came for the Jesuits. In 1773 the order was abolished. His general Lorenzo Ricci ended his life in prison. A second Alameda, who apparently was his supporter, was also arrested. His further fate is unknown.

D'Artagnan

D'Artagnan and his famous horse

The real d'Artagnan's name was Charles Ogier de Batz de Castelmore. Moreover, d'Artagnan is the surname of his mother, which the young Gascon nobleman adopted shortly after his arrival in Paris. There is a version that this was done at the insistence of King Louis XIII. On the other hand, the ancestors of the Gascon's mother were more famous than those of his father. Perhaps the young nobleman simply decided to increase his worth by adopting a more famous name.

The book d'Artnayan died just like the real one. He was killed by a cannonball

The future hero Dumas was born in 1611 in his father's castle of Castelmore in Gascony. Came to Paris in the early 1630s. He entered the musketeer company under the patronage of de Treville himself. Now they would say - by acquaintance. After the company was disbanded, d'Artagnan was lucky. Somehow he gained the favor of Cardinal Mazarin himself, an all-powerful man at that time. So the Gascon became the minister’s executor of special secret assignments. In particular, he delivered secret mail, which was fraught with great danger. D'Artagnan later won the favor of the young King Louis XIV. By 1655, he already held the rank of captain of the French Guard. In 1655 he became the second lieutenant of the revived musketeer company. In general, almost like in the novel “The Vicomte de Bragelonne”. Unless he put General Monk in a barrel.

In Paris at that time, the name d'Artagnan was widely known. The Gascon actually played an important role in the arrest of the superintendent of finance, Nicolas Fouquet. Many historians believe that the real d'Artagnan, unlike the book hero, did not have a sharp mind, much less cunning. Most likely, he was simply a skilled warrior who followed orders and did not ask unnecessary questions, for which the powers that be valued him. And Mazarin, and the Sun King, and Colbert, loyal to Louis, loved such people very much. Apparently, he was a greedy person and eager for all kinds of awards and titles. But he didn’t know how to read and write well and probably couldn’t write. The famous memoirs, allegedly written on his behalf, were obviously the authorship of another person.

Marriages and divorces

What is known about the personal life of Igor Starygin? The famous actor entered into legal marriage several times. His first wife was Lyudmila Isakova, with whom he studied at GITIS. The marriage, concluded too hastily, broke up a year later. The young people separated peacefully, without scandals.

Igor married for the second time in 1966. His chosen one was Mira Ardova, with whom he worked together at the Youth Theater. At the time of meeting Starygin, Mira was married to actor and playwright Boris Ardov. She was pregnant when she left her husband for Igor. Starygin and his second wife lived together for more than 12 years. It was Mira that “Aramis” called his true love. It is known that the family broke up due to Starygin’s infidelities.

For the third time, the actor married Tatyana Sukhacheva. This union quickly fell apart and left Igor with unpleasant memories. The ex-wife took away Starygin’s apartment on Bakhrushinsky Lane, which he received thanks to his work in the theater.

For several years, the actor lived in a civil marriage with Nina Vydrina. He never married this woman. His fourth wife was Ekaterina Tabashnikova. This woman is a photojournalist, editor of the photo department of the Sobesednik newspaper. They lived together for about 9 years and got married in 2006. The age difference between them was about 20 years, but this did not bother the lovers.

Lev Durov

Two hundred roles on stage over 60 years - this is the result of this artist’s work. And, of course, one of them is the image of de Treville. Lev Konstantinovich was one of the few actors who did not create problems for directors, since he could play absolutely any role.

Homemade delicacy. Grandma told me how easy it is to make cured bacon

Alla Pugacheva decided to show off her grandson’s new song. But not everyone liked it

Life doesn’t work out: why Harry and Meghan “endure” life in Los Angeles

The actor lived with his wife Irina Kirichenko for 57 years, and when she received a severe fracture of the femoral neck, he nursed the bedridden woman until her death. This became a great tragedy in the life of Lev Durov, from which he was never able to recover. In 2013, the artist repeated the fate of his wife, just like her, receiving a fracture of the femoral neck. And two years later he had a stroke, which was aggravated by pneumonia, which led to the death of the artist.

The money for the monument was collected by daughter Catherine. He appeared at the actor’s grave two years later thanks to the assistance of Nikita Mikhalkov and Joseph Kobzon.

Children

What is known about the children of Igor Starygin? First of all, it should be mentioned that the famous actress Anna Ardova is his adopted daughter. She was born after her mother Mira left her father Boris for Igor. Anna owes her popularity to the sketch “Women’s League”, as well as the show “One for All”, in which she received a key role.

It is also impossible not to talk about Igor Starygin’s own daughter. Anastasia was born in 1978, shortly before her parents divorced. The separation of Mira and Igor did not in any way affect Nastya’s relationship with her father. Starygin always paid a lot of attention to his child; he was very close to his daughter.

Anastasia did not follow in her parents’ footsteps and did not connect her life with dramatic art. Once, however, she appeared in Andrei Gubin’s video “Lisa”. Currently she works as a manager for her sister Anna Ardova. Anastasia has a son, the boy's name is Arseny. Unfortunately, the name of the father of Igor’s only grandson is kept secret.

Starygin's death was a heavy blow for Anastasia, from which she could not recover for a long time. Anna Ardova was also upset by the death of her stepfather, who was closer to her than her own father.

D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers

Adventure. USSR, Odessa Film Studio, 1979, color, 248 min.

Director: Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich.

Cast: Mikhail Boyarsky, Veniamin Smekhov, Igor Starygin, Valentin Smirnitsky, Irina Alferova, Alisa Freindlikh, Margarita Terekhova, Oleg Tabakov, Lev Durov, Alexander Trofimov, Leonid Kanevsky, Vladimir Balon, Elena Tsyplakova, Boris Klyuev, Alexey Kuznetsov.

Abdulov could become D'Artagnan, and Nightingale could become Milady

"D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers" is one of the best comedies of Russian cinema. Director Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich, not without reason, claims that several generations grew up watching his “musketeers”, and the film is still popular to this day.

About which of the actors applied for roles in the film, and about the filming of the folk film - in our today's issue.

Tabakov and Freundlich are the key to success

The director says that he fell in love with Dumas’ novel as a child. Before taking on the script, I dug through a lot of literature: I studied the era, traditions, customs. I immediately decided to invite Oleg Tabakov to play the role of Louis, and Alisa Freundlich to play the role of Anna of Austria.

Tabakov’s task was set as follows: he had to play a very short man who wants to be taller. At first, Alisa Freindlich had difficulty getting into character, and even threw a tantrum at rehearsal: I’m mediocre! I can not understand anything! She could not explain to herself why her heroine was not afraid to give her lover such a noticeable thing as a pendant.

The director replied that the only way she could annoy the king was to give away his own gift! Spanish display of defiance. Freundlich's eyes immediately lit up, she nodded, and the scene was filmed in literally ten minutes.

D'Artagnan - Abdulov? Boyarsky?

Alexander Abdulov was first approved for the role of the Gascon.

Mikhail Boyarsky was invited to try out for Rochefort. When he was dressed in a musketeer costume and he entered the pavilion, silence reigned in the studio: this is how the film crew expressed their admiration. And the director gave preference to Boyarsky, who went all out on the set! He resolutely refused to use doubles, although the film is full of complex stunts. And right away he bravely jumped from a height of fifteen meters. And then he joyfully ran upstairs and repeated the jump - he wanted to earn money for the party (they paid 50 rubles for a stunt trick). I tried in vain: only the first jump was paid for.

During fencing with Boris Klyuev (Rochefort), Boyarsky became so enraged that he grabbed his sword with his teeth and broke a tooth! And another time, the “enemy’s” sword hit him in the upper palate, not reaching his brain by a couple of centimeters! The actor was taken to intensive care, his mother was informed about the misfortune, they were afraid of the worst, but youth took its toll - Boyarsky a few days later, having not yet recovered, ran to the set.

Athos - Livanov? Laughter?

Vasily Livanov was supposed to star in the role of Athos. He was the only candidate, but, having performed excellently at the audition, he did not show up for filming on time. The group was idle.

When the angry director at the Taganka Theater saw Veniamin Smekhov in the role of Woland, he, without hesitation, invited him to become Athos. Smekhov agreed.

He is often praised for his excellent performance of the song “There is a black pond in the count’s park.” But the actor sadly notes that it is not he who sings - he himself was very out of tune on the recording and did not have time to re-record the song - production deadlines were running out.

Milady - Nightingale? Penkina? Terekhova?

The director wrote the role of Milady for actress Elena Solovey. However, Nightingale turned out to be pregnant at the start of filming, and the director called Margarita Terekhova in despair: “Ritka, save me!”

But Goskino ordered Penkina to play the role.

“Milady - Penkina?! When I heard this, I threw down the documents, started drinking and left for St. Petersburg,” says the director. “I said: “I won’t shoot your “Musketeers” or I’ll shoot it the way I want. In general, I managed to fight off Penkina. Terekhova came to audition. We put a chiffon blouse on her, without a bra. I brought these samples to television to show. The editor-in-chief shook his finger at me and said: “And although you can’t do this, it’s very beautiful. If you want, shoot. Terekhova is good”...

Some viewers think that Terekhova played in a wig, her golden locks are so impressive, but in fact the actress was simply curled every morning and eventually her hair was burned with curling irons. In order to be like her heroine in everything, Terekhova did not sleep at night, she wanted to look tired (after all, according to the script, Milady spent her nights in the saddle).

Porthos and Aramis

Georgy Martirosyan was considered for the role of Porthos, but Valentin Smirnitsky was approved (he auditioned with a broken leg and was worried whether his cast would be removed before filming began).

At first they gave him “thickness”, and then he himself gained weight to the desired “shape”.

Igor Starygin's audition for the role of Aramis was approved on the spot. Starygin, it seemed, did not need to pretend - he played himself, a silent Jesuit, a handsome cunning man who was always on his own mind.

The film group jokingly nicknamed Starygin “Viper” (for his caustic jokes and the fact that he often deviated from the “principles of collectivism,” for example, once, to the chagrin of the other “musketeers,” he stole a beauty from under their noses). They say that when Starygin was drunk (and this misfortune often happened with the “musketeers” on the set), he began to call everyone in the frame nothing other than Aramis, and nothing could be done about it!

Boyarsky recalls:

“Starygin never knew the lyrics, he came to the site as a blank slate. And he carried such a thing, it’s incomprehensible to the mind! Our eyes widened every time. It was not Dumas, not Chekhov, but God knows what! Personal fantasy...

Constance - Simonova? Alferova?

The director wanted to cast Evgenia Simonova for the role of the charming Bonacieux, but the management of Goskino intervened and demanded that Irina Alferova be cast.

They say that some big official patronized her. According to the director, Alferova lacked musicality for this film. “Bonacier Zhenya Simonova would have been more exquisitely cunning, crafty, elusive,” says the director. — And Ira Alferova is a deeply Slavic type. And French lightness is not characteristic of her. I didn’t let Ira voice my character because Alferova has a rough voice. Bonacieux was voiced by Anastasia Vertinskaya, and the cardinal (played by Trofimov) was voiced by Mikhail Kozakov. Trofimov’s voice is heavy, his manner of speaking is drawling, and in life he stutters a little, but Kozakov’s voice gave the movie hero a secular impudence.”

They said that Vertinskaya and Kozakov had an affair; during the dubbing they looked eye to eye, causing Nastya to flare up and her voice to tremble indescribably.

Buckingham - Kostolevsky? Kuznetsov?

Kostolevsky was supposed to star in the film as Buckingham, but he refused to play when Evgenia Simonov was rejected.

According to the director, Kostolevsky would be a completely different Buckingham, with slipping English phrases and foppishness. However, Alexey Kuznetsov coped with the role remarkably well.

STORIES ON THE SET

Filming took place in Odessa and Lvov. And everywhere there were overlays with hotels - perhaps due to the economy of the film’s administrators. Somehow they managed to put Smirnitsky, Starygin, Boyarsky and... Terekhova in one room. The actors had to spend the night side by side.

The rooms in another regional committee hotel were riddled with bugs. In the evening, the actors told jokes about the leaders, and in the morning the director was summoned to the KGB and given a tape recording of the conversations. We barely managed to beg forgiveness for our tongue-tied charges.

The attempt to introduce “prohibition” on the set was also unsuccessful. The director wondered why the musketeers constantly smelled of alcohol - it seemed they had never been away! And then I found out that in the Volga, which drove behind the film crew with fans of the Musketeers, there was a canister the size of a trunk, full of wine, and with a tap, which the actors touched every now and then. Only Trofimov didn’t drink, but once they managed to get him drunk, so much so that he had to call an ambulance. Another time, Smirnitsky, drunk, passed... through the glass in the closet. It's a miracle I didn't get hurt. Well, one day the “musketeers” drank all their daily allowance and sat there hungry. Then they stole a box of smoked fish from the store and ate it for a whole week.

There were many cases during horse chases. One day, Smekhov’s horse reared up—in the circus this trick is called a “candle”—throwing off its rider. Smekhov lost consciousness. When he woke up, he saw a stuntman who whispered to him: “Venya, if you’re alive, pretend to be dead, we’ll get you money for the stunt, let’s take a walk!” Well, they knocked it out...

When “The Three Musketeers” was released, film critics unanimously criticized the film, calling it a cheap parody of “The Musketeers 20 Years Later,” and the actors quarreled with the director. And then some discord began between the actors themselves. So the musketeer friendship remained only in the frame...

  • Starygin met his fourth wife at a creative evening with Efim Shifrin. Catherine drew attention to him because he looked very bad. She felt sorry for the thinner and older “Aramis”. Later she learned that Igor had undergone several heart surgeries and suffered from atherosclerosis for many years.

Death

What is the cause of death of Igor Starygin? The answer to this question cannot but interest his fans. The last theatrical work of the “musketeer” was the production “Theater Star”, in which he embodied the image of music teacher Udryu. Igor always wanted to leave behind the role of a handsome man and a hero, to play a comic role. In this performance he finally succeeded. Needless to say, he attached great importance to this work.

Actor Igor Starygin had his first stroke in May 2009. He spent about a month in the hospital, then immediately returned to work. The doctors recommended that he undergo a little more treatment, but he did not pay any attention to this advice. Starygin wanted to start playing his favorite role as quickly as possible, they were waiting for him at rehearsals. It is possible that he would have lived longer if he had followed the instructions of specialists.

Igor had a second stroke in September 2009. The actor was taken to intensive care, but it was too late to do anything. Starygin passed away in November 2009, the cause of death being the consequences of a stroke.

The funeral of the talented actor, who brilliantly played Aramis, took place on November 12, 2009. Starygin's grave is located at the Troekurovsky cemetery. In June 2011, the grand opening of a monument in his honor took place. The ceremony was timed to coincide with Igor’s 65th birthday. The monument was erected with funds raised by fans.

One without all and all without one

The wife was the actor's guardian angel. He even called her a saint. Katya nursed him like a child - and, probably, if not for her care, Starygin would have died much earlier. After his death, even the doctors were surprised that their hopeless patient lasted so long. He died at 63 - at the very moment when everything was just starting to get better...

The disaster happened on September 20, 2009. On this morning, the actor felt unwell. At first he complained of severe headaches - and then it became really bad. “There was a cerebral hemorrhage,” the doctors at the capital’s hospital where the artist was taken commented at the time. “We are doing our best, but...”

When Starygin was taken to the hospital, he had difficulty understanding what was happening and started talking. A few days after the stroke, the right side of his body was paralyzed. Seven weeks later, on November 8, 2009, Igor Starygin’s heart stopped. He never regained consciousness and never came out of his coma.

He was the first of the famous Musketeers to leave, shortly after the release of Return of the Musketeers, in which his character was killed in the opening scenes. He was left alone without everyone much earlier - both in cinema and in life...
