Personal life
The young people met in their hometown of Barnaul. One day in 2006, Veronica came to congratulate her friend on her birthday, and found herself in the same company with a pleasant young man. Alexander was not yet a famous football player at that moment. At that time, he only managed to study for 2 years at the Moscow Lokomotiv academy and decided to relax in Barnaul during the holidays.
Veronica Erokhina once admitted, giving an interview to Hello magazine, that it was not love at first sight at all. However, the tall, curly-haired young man interested her.
There was no direct exchange of telephone numbers. But Alexander decided to get the number of the girl he liked from his friends, and the next day he wrote to her. Communication developed rapidly. Sometimes, when Erokhin came to Barnaul, or when Veronica flew to Moscow for dance competitions, the guys saw each other.
It has become a little easier to communicate with the advent of social networks. But the time difference did not make it possible to communicate during the day: most often young people communicated at night. A young 18-year-old football player who signed a contract with the Sheriff club invited the girl to come and visit him in Moldova. It was this trip that changed Nika’s view of the relationship with the midfielder.
The story of how the proposal was made is hardly extraordinary. But there is no arguing that it was done very romantically. That summer, the couple decided to visit Alexander’s grandparents, who live in Germany. They, in turn, gave Erokhin two tickets for a bus tour to Paris.
During an excursion to the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower, Alexander got down on one knee and proposed to Veronica. The tourists standing around applauded with delight. Of course, there is no way in football without a bit of luck. I hope that luck will accompany Sasha on the field as long as possible.
— Is he satisfied with his own performance? — Sasha is very critical of himself and his game. Even if he scores four goals in one match, he will find moments with which he will be dissatisfied. He always says he can play even better.
— How is Alexander’s mood now and how is his recovery from injury going? - Of course, he regrets that he cannot help the team. Now he is recovering as part of Zenit and hopes that he will be able to take part in the upcoming games of the Russian Championship.

— How has your family’s life changed in general after the World Cup? — To be honest, it hasn’t changed much. Yes, people recognize Sasha more, approach him, ask him to take a photo, and say kind words. It was a wonderful month; there were so many emotions and impressions during the World Cup! A memory for life.
— Have you ever been more worried than at the World Cup? Many wives didn’t even watch the penalty shootout, they were so worried. - I was very nervous. I cried with joy after the victory over Spain, screamed after every penalty scored by our team so much that then I couldn’t talk for two days. We hugged the whole podium, congratulated each other and shouted “Russia, go ahead!”
— Did you watch the entire tournament from the stands? — Yes, I was at almost all the World Cup games with the participation of our team. Together with my ten-month-old son and my parents, I came to Moscow twice and flew to Sochi. We only missed the match in Samara; it was inconvenient to get there with the baby, and I couldn’t leave him at home. The tickets were not lost, we gave them to the children - the wards of a charitable foundation in Samara. Moving was difficult, but I don’t regret it for a second, it’s an incomparable experience!
Especially when my husband came on as a substitute in the match against Spain - I remember how everything froze inside. Despite an unpleasant painful injury, he and his team were able to defeat one of the strongest teams in the world. You don't see a penalty shootout like this every day! How the guys rejoiced at the victory, how the stadium supported and rejoiced!

— Before the start of the World Cup, almost no one believed in the Russian team. Did you notice from personal experience how the attitude towards your husband and the entire team changed during the tournament? — Yes, it was the unity of the team and the competent policy of the coaching staff that helped achieve results and change the negative attitude towards the national team, people began to believe in their team. Enormous support was felt throughout the championship!
— How many people asked you to get football tickets through your husband? — Yes, many friends contacted me. Our friends flew in from Barnaul, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, and Rostov for the matches. They tried to help everyone with tickets, but, unfortunately, there weren’t enough for everyone.
— How many times were you able to meet and talk with Alexander during the World Cup? — During the entire World Cup, we only managed to meet once. Before the match with the Egyptian national team in St. Petersburg, a meeting was allowed. My son and parents and I arrived at the hotel and sat and talked in the lobby for an hour. We didn’t get to see each other again during the entire championship; I only watched my husband’s game from the stands.
— Natalya Oreiro called Alexander the sexiest player of the Russian national team, the British edition of the Daily Mail recognized you as the most beautiful wife of a football player at the World Cup. Do you tease each other about this? - In fact, of course, we did not take these titles and titles seriously. It was unexpected and even a little funny that it caused such a stir. “Before, Sasha always made peace first”
— You said that you met your husband at the age of 16, but at first they were only friends. What act of his finally captivated you and you realized that you had fallen in love? — Yes, we met when we were 16, and for about two years we just talked as friends, corresponded at a distance, because we lived in different cities. At the age of 18, I flew to Tiraspol for Sasha’s birthday. He invited me to visit for a long time, and my parents let me go with Sasha’s mother.
There was no specific action or deed, just during our communication I began to understand what kind of person Sasha is: kind, caring, understanding. There are very few such people. He persistently courted me, wrote constantly, gave me gifts - any girl would be pleased with this. This is how feelings gradually arose between us. We have known each other for 13 years and been married for 7 years.

— In 2007, Alexander was of no use to Lokomotiv and left for Moldova. How did they react to his departure? How often did you come to visit your future husband then? — When he was at Lokomotiv school, we communicated at a distance. I was doing ballroom dancing then and came to Moscow for tournaments a couple of times, and Sasha spent his vacation in Barnaul. We saw each other, but mostly communicated on the Internet and called each other by phone, so we didn’t notice much of a difference after he moved to Tiraspol.
When I first came to him, we realized that between us there was no longer just friendship, but feelings that could develop into a serious relationship. I was then studying at the university in Barnaul, trying to pass the exam as quickly as possible and flying to Tiraspol every four months.
— How did you learn to cope with separation? What's the secret here anyway? — Long-distance relationships are difficult. There are no secrets here, you just need to appreciate and love each other, give in at some points and always remember that life at a distance is not eternal and someday you will unite. You need to survive this time, wait it out, and then everything will be fine. Of course, these meetings saved us when I visited Sasha in Tiraspol. If there is love and a desire to be together, then everything will work out.
— How often does Alexander write to you when he travels? - Often. We are constantly in touch. Before the flight, after the plane lands, before the match and after it, we constantly talk, text, and send each other photos. We have regular communication - both at home and when we are in different cities. Let's find out how you are doing, how your day went.

— Have you ever been through at least one serious quarrel? - In fact, we are both very calm and try to be understanding about everything. I don’t remember any major quarrels, only at the beginning of the relationship, maybe because of some little things. Now we are quite competent in resolving any conflict situation, so we have not had any major quarrels and, I hope, never will.
-Who in the family is the first to make peace? “Previously, Sasha was always the first to make peace, but for the last three years I’ve been the first to make peace.” Probably, Sasha has matured, and I have become softer in relationships. But we can’t stay in a quarrel for long, an hour and a half, and we can no longer remain silent and be offended at each other. We also never raise our voices at each other.
“My husband will never say anything bad about anyone”
— Was it in Moldova that Alexander learned to play the guitar? What is your favorite tune performed by your husband? — Yes, Sasha learned to play the guitar there. I have known this since childhood - my dad also plays the guitar. Sasha's dad too. I have many favorite melodies. This is probably a song by the group 5'nizza "Neva", a song by Lyapis Trubetskoy. I also love it when Sasha performs songs of his own composition; he even recorded one in the studio. He's great at it. On our wedding day, he also dedicated a song to me - this is probably my favorite melody.
— Did you always know that your husband would become one of the best football players in Russia? - I didn't know. I simply believed in him and supported him throughout his entire football career - it so happened that we were together almost from the very beginning of his career and went through everything together. I saw how he gives his best in training, how he likes it, how his eyes light up, how confident he is. I was just always there and believed that everything would work out well. There were different moments - ups, downs, and injuries, including serious ones, but thanks to Sasha’s fighting character, everything turned out exactly like that.
I’m very glad that he became the main player of the Russian national team, that at Zenit, despite serious competition, everything works out for him, he plays in the base and brings benefits to the team. I really want it to develop further. Sasha is a hero for me, I am very proud of him. He gives his all and works for results together with the team.
— Together with Alexander, you often moved. Was there a moment when you got tired of it and panicked that it would never end? Or do you like to travel constantly? — Yes, we moved often - that’s how our career developed. From one edge of Russia to the other, from Krasnodar to Khabarovsk. There has never been any panic, my husband and I are always optimistic about this and believe that our home is where we live now. Where he is, there I am. Sometimes you get tired of these things, but, on the other hand, I’m so used to it that now, even when I come to visit Barnaul for two weeks, I have a desire to go somewhere else. This is already a habit.
— When Alexander played in Rostov, after the victory over Bayern, your neighbors left notes on the wall for you and your husband. When you first saw them, what were your emotions? How did your husband react? — In Rostov we had wonderful neighbors. And in general, people in Rostov charge you with their optimism, their energy, they are very friendly. The neighbors left us notes on the wall - touching and at the same time funny. We didn’t expect it, it was incredibly nice, after the first incident we also tied a small gift with a note to their door. Then it became our tradition before every game.

— Have you ever encountered negativity from fans? How did you react? - Thank God, only in the comments. People are different, and everyone expresses their emotions differently. I used to read all this and get upset, it seemed to me that it was unfair. I knew how Sasha experienced the team’s unsuccessful matches. Now I have calmed down, I read almost nothing and rely on my opinion after watching the game. In any situation, you need to treat the comments adequately, mind your own business, try to give your best on the field.
— Tell us, what is Alexander like in life? Is it different from the person who is represented in the media and on television? - Sasha is the best for me. He is a real man with a core inside. On the field, he is sometimes aggressive, but he is always focused on winning, wants to help the team and bring results. He is such an iron man. At home he is calm, cheerful, very caring, knows how to help and support in difficult times.
I learned one thing from Sasha - he will never say anything bad about anyone. Not once in all the time we've been together. He approaches life very competently, he will always advise, guide, and help. A man you can rely on as a friend, husband, father. I very rarely meet such people in my life, and I am happy that Sasha and I were connected by fate. I don’t know how he is presented in the media, he doesn’t really strive to go there. He doesn’t particularly like giving interviews or participating in photo shoots.
— What is the ideal vacation or day off for you and your husband? — If it’s a day off, then ideal for us would be to spend it at home or go out somewhere together. We like holidays in different ways. Sasha loves active recreation - walking, sightseeing, he would love to go to Europe on vacation. And I love the sea and a more relaxing holiday. Most often we still go to the sea.
— What would you like to wish Alexander on his 29th birthday? — It’s difficult to wish something to your loved one in public. I want him to be happy, healthy, successful. To have harmony in family and work. I want Sasha to realize his potential and for everything that he has planned to come true: this applies to football, and his projects with the children’s school, and the tournaments that he organizes in Barnaul. And Fedya and I will always be there, we will always support him - he is the most important person for us, our support and our great love.

— Son Fyodor doesn’t kick a ball yet? Would you like your son to follow in his dad's footsteps? — Fedya loves the ball, he kicks it and throws it. Even before he could walk, he was already trying to reach and kick the ball. Of course, Fedya himself will choose what to do. At first I didn’t want him to go to football, but now I think differently - I can already imagine how I will cheer for my son from the stands, it will be great pride for me and for Sasha. But no one knows how life will turn out. The main thing is that the son is happy.

— Have you settled in St. Petersburg? What is your and your husband’s favorite place in the city? — We really like St. Petersburg. This city became special for us from the very beginning, because our son was born here. I really like New Holland, we have been there several times. A modern art object, an interesting place with a concert program and restaurants. Also Krestovsky Island, we often walk here with the whole family. And of course, the stadium where I go to all Zenit matches. The best stadium I've ever been to.
— How friendly is the team of Zenit players’ wives? Who do you communicate with most? — I arrived in St. Petersburg when I was already eight months pregnant and almost never went anywhere. Then Fedya was born, and I also devoted all my time to him, so I only communicated with Elizaveta Poloz; we simultaneously moved from Rostov to St. Petersburg. Ekaterina Smolnikova gave me a lot of practical advice on how to settle in St. Petersburg. I knew her from Krasnodar. She supported us and gave us a lot of advice.
We recently met Diana Luneva when we went to see Vladimir Vladimirovich (in July, President Putin awarded the Russian national team with state awards for their performance at the 2018 World Cup. - Sport24).
