“We have repeatedly said that everything was by mutual consent, but for some reason the court did not consider these circumstances. Moreover, the most serious article in the indictment was dropped there. The victim’s words were thus not confirmed. However, all the evidence during the investigation was based on the testimony of the victim,” said Alexander Emelianenko’s lawyer Kakhaber Dolbadze.
But she allegedly received threats repeatedly. The victim insisted that the case be considered behind closed doors, did not appear in court, and her interests were represented by 2 lawyers. She also asked for state protection. At the same time, she willingly shared details of the story from television screens in various talk shows. Even on Tuesday, she preferred to communicate with journalists over the court, although she was taciturn and did not answer the direct question about what happened on March 3.
“While I was cleaning the room, he was sitting in the kitchen. After I went to the kitchen, something happened there. I am pleased that he was imprisoned for 4 and a half years, in general. I’m happy that there is justice, that he will sit and think about what he did,” said Polina Stepanova.
