At that time, Vlad was a real beech: he was not friends with anyone, constantly fought with everyone, beat his younger sister. The children's group had to remake the little robber. And no one could have thought then that this decision would become fateful for Vlad in the future.
Vlad sang in “Fidgets” with his younger sister Alina. For duets, he had a constant partner - Yulia Malinovskaya, who is now the host of the music television competition "Morning Star". Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, future soloists of the Tatu group, also performed with them in the team. For ten years, Vlad, as a member of the group “Fidgets,” managed to travel all over the world, participate in many music festivals: in Italy, Japan, Bulgaria, Norway, and also won children’s music competitions: “Bravo Bravissimo”, “Morning Star”.
Since 1994, Vlad Topalov has been studying at college in England, but he does not give up Fidgets, he comes every vacation and performs with them. And since he was the permanent soloist, after his departure Seryozha Lazarev, who was 2 years older than Vlad, was taken into the group.

In 2000, Vlad’s father, Mikhail Topalov, invited his friend to record all their songs in new arrangements for the 10th anniversary of “Fidget” and release a gift anniversary disc. Vlad, in turn, for his father’s approaching fortieth birthday, also decided to make a gift with his friend from the ensemble, Sergei Lazarev. They jointly recorded the ballad “Belle” from the musical “Notre Dame de Paris”, of which Topalov Sr. was a passionate fan. By chance, this recording was heard by David Junk, the director, who decided that the guys should definitely sing a duet on stage. So this recording became fateful for two guys, former “Fidgets”.
In 2002, in April, “Smash!!” shoots his first video for the song “Should have loved you more”, and already in August of the same year the group “Smash!!” takes first place at the competition of young performers “New Wave” in Jurmala.

In 2003, the group's first album, called “Freeway,” was released. It is becoming popular far beyond Russia. The album reaches platinum status and goes through two reissues.
2004, December, the second and last album of the group is released, its name is “2nite”. After the release of the album, information appears that the duo has broken up. The reason was the departure of Sergei Lazarev from the team. Kirill Turichenko was invited to replace Lazarev, but he and Topalov did not work well together - Vlad remains the only lead singer of the group “Smash!!”.

According to the terms of the contract with “Universal Music Russia”, the participants of “Smash!!” were supposed to release three albums. You said that you started living together only after the wedding... Quite conservative for these days. How long have they been getting used to each other?
We're still getting used to it. Even when we were flying to America for our honeymoon, we had a fight on the plane, so much so that I wanted to return immediately. Previously, every quarrel was a reason to break up. Now we understand: there are questions and they need to be resolved. There is simply no option to separate.
Before Ksyusha, I had never lived with girls. After school I immediately moved out from my parents. I can’t say that I’ve always been independent, I’m just used to thinking only about myself. Now I’m learning to leave work problems at the door, come home and really be interested in how my mother-in-law is doing, how my grandmother is feeling. At first it was difficult for me to do this, but now I love it all. I began to feel differently about myself, about my work, and even reinstated myself at the institute that I left three years ago (Vlad studies in the department of pop-jazz vocals at the Institute of Contemporary Art. - Ed.). So now I'm a student again.
You have the same tattoos. At what point did you decide to make them?
When Vlad and I first started dating, we were so happy to have found each other that we decided to capture this moment. Now we have our initials and the inscription “We found love” stamped on our hands. Once a child is born, we’ll make one more.
So, are you already thinking about children?
Yes, we are already ready for this. We want three or four.
I definitely want a girl.

Vlad, how did you decide to try a second time?
Not only for the second... We didn’t communicate for several years, but I was subscribed to Ksyusha’s pages on social networks and once suggested we meet. And you know what: she didn’t show up for the meeting twice! Either her phone battery was dead, or important things appeared at the last moment. No one has ever dynamized me so much in my life! (Laughs.) When we called again, I invited Ksyusha to go with me and my younger sister, Anya, to Evgeni Plushenko’s show. Ksyusha agreed and finally came. When I saw how great she gets along with my sister, how she cares for her, I realized: this is exactly the woman with whom I want children.
Ksyusha, what were your thoughts when you returned home that day?
For me it was a meeting of two old acquaintances, nothing more. I did not consider Vlad as a potential young man. But then we began to communicate more and I realized that in front of me was a completely different Vlad Topalov - not the one who was once with me at the zoo. The current Vlad was very attentive, gallant and, what was especially important for me, did not rush things. We even started living together only after the wedding.
Ksyusha, how did your parents react to your affair with the famous singer?
At first, when they first found out about everything, they were alarmed. Still, there is a certain stereotype about people from show business, especially if you open the Internet, you can read something like this!.. (Laughs.) But, having met Vlad, they accepted him well and were not against our relationship.
And yet, not everyone in your house was happy about Vlad’s appearance...
Yes, my dogs turned out to be a serious test for us. (Smiles.) The fact is that Vladik has a difficult relationship with animals, and I have been a volunteer since I was 12 years old, dogs are a part of me. I accept his lifestyle - with tours, concerts - and I ask you to also accept mine - with my dogs. So far their friendship is not working out.
You see, all my life I could not stand miniature dogs, and now two dogs live with us. This is the same as if your loved one bred snakes and they crawled around the apartment all the time. I’m already a grown man, an established personality, and it’s hard for me to just fall in love with them overnight, but I’m working on it.
