Artyom Dzyuba is one of the most talked about people in Russian football. At the 2020 World Cup, he was the main motivator and leader of the team, and in 2020 he was recognized as the best football player in the country.
Dzyuba evokes polar emotions among football fans: some name their children after him, others hate him for his provocative statements and controversial actions. We tell you all about one of the most talked about Russian players.
At school, Dzyuba was the main bully
Artyom was born on August 22, 1988 in a Moscow communal apartment on Chistye Prudy. His parents had nothing to do with sports. Mom Svetlana Aleksandrovna first worked as a salesperson, then as a deputy director in a grocery store. Father Sergei Vladimirovich served in the police. Artyom recalled that his father did not like his job - he stuck to it to provide for his family.
By nationality, Artyom Dzyuba’s father is Ukrainian, his mother is Russian. Sergei Vladimirovich was born in the Poltava region, in the city of Lubny, Svetlana Alexandrovna - in the Chuvash Tsivilsk.
The family moved out of the communal apartment only after the birth of their second child, daughter Olga. Dzyuba’s parents bought an apartment in the residential area of Novokosino. At the age of 7, Artyom asked his parents to send him to the football section and began going to the nearest Spartak school.
The red-white pupils studied at school No. 1036 in Sokolniki. Titov, Pogrebnyak, Tarasov, Shishkin went there.
At school, Dzyuba loved chemistry - because of the opportunity to talk to the teacher.
Artyom often failed his tests with his conversations with the teacher. Photo: goprosport.ru Dzyuba often behaved like a hooligan. The school had a tradition of keeping a disciplinary diary, where students' misdeeds were recorded. One day Artyom won the overall competition for violations of discipline.
In grades 6-7, Dzyuba and his friends played in the hallway with a tennis ball. The company did not notice the approaching head teacher. The ball bounced off the wall and hit him in the head. Several of Artyom's friends ran away, the rest were caught. After this incident, one of the boys was almost kicked out of school. Dziuba managed to avoid serious punishment.
Family and childhood of Artem Dzyuba
In 1988, the future forward of the Russian national football team was born in one of the houses in Moscow. Artyom’s parents, due to the nature of their activities, had nothing to do with football. Father, Sergei, a Ukrainian by nationality, served in law enforcement agencies, Artem’s mother worked as a salesperson in a grocery store at the time she met her husband.
At first the family lived in a communal apartment, then purchased their own home. In 1992, a new addition appeared to the family - a daughter, Olga, was born.
Childhood photo of Artem Dzyuba
Artyom was fond of football from early childhood. At the age of 8, the child was already enrolled in the Spartak Academy. The coaches saw great potential in the boy, and Alexander Yartsev paid special attention to the young talent. It was with Alexander’s patronage that Artem Dzyuba’s sports career began.
Dziuba dreamed of playing for Spartak
The desire to play for the red and white was influenced by many factors. One of them is place of residence. The Dziuba family initially lived near Sokolniki. Dzyuba also read a lot about the legends of Spartak - for example, about the Starostin brothers, who made a great contribution to the founding of the sports society, and the club’s famous football players.
The 10-year-old Dzyuba was greatly impressed by the Spartak - Real Madrid match in 1998. Then the red-whites beat the Madrid club with a score of 2:1. At that time, Artyom was already a student at the Spartak school.
Artyom was one of the stars of the academy. At the tournament in Paris he was recognized as the top scorer
Dziuba was one of the most talented football players in the red-white academy and often participated in international tournaments. There he met with peers from the best European clubs - Barcelona, Manchester United, PSG. At a competition in Paris, Artyom received a prize for the best scorer.

At the Parc des Princes stadium, Dzyuba was presented with an award - a glass figurine. Artyom did not carry it to the bus - he dropped it and broke it into small fragments. Dziuba was so worried about the failure that he burst into tears. The story with the prize ended happily - after some time, the tournament organizers sent Artyom exactly the same figurine.
Artyom’s talent was recognized not only by his teachers. Assistant to the head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov, Miroslav Romashchenko, worked with Dzyuba back at the academy, when he was in the 8th grade. Romashchenko praised the young player.
Artyom’s leadership qualities began to emerge at the academy. Dziuba has always been relied upon as the strongest attacking player. The team played on Artyom, the main task of his teammates was to deliver the ball to Dzyuba. Artyom was a leader both on the field and in the locker room.
A student of Spartak Moscow, Vladislav Ryzhkov, spoke about Dzyuba: “From a very young age, Artem led his partners forward. I never liked to lose, be it a match with a serious opponent or a “square” in training.”
Dzyuba made his debut for Spartak in 2006
Artyom entered the field on July 2, 2006 in the first game of the 1/16 finals of the Russian Cup. The red-whites met with Ural. Dzyuba came on as a substitute in the 85th minute instead of Roman Pavlyuchenko. In that meeting, Spartak won 1:0.
Dzyuba has been a regular starter since the 2007 season. Then Artyom scored 5 goals in 27 matches in all tournaments. In the same season, Dzyuba played for the first time in European competition - in the UEFA Cup match with Sparta (0:0).
In 2008, Artyom fell out of the base. He played only 16 out of 30 matches in the championship, not playing the full 90 minutes in any of the matches.
One of the most striking events of the year for Artyom was a goal against Tottenham in the UEFA Cup. On December 18, 2008, the red and whites met with Spurs in the group stage of the tournament. Dziuba played the entire match and scored a double. The meeting ended in a draw 2:2. Artyom's second goal, scored in the 33rd minute, was recognized by Spartak fans as the most beautiful of the season.
Top scorer of the Russian national football team 2018
Despite harsh statements against Spartak fans, which caused a flurry of criticism and emotional statements, Dzyuba remains the most expensive player of the Russian national team and from the first days of forming the team for the 2018 World Cup was enshrined in the core.
The first match and he scored a goal with his head immediately after coming on as a substitute. The second appearance on the field, against Egypt, also did not go without a stroke of the ball in the opponents' goal after the striker hit.
1/8 finals and again Dzyuba is distinguished by a single goal in regular time, after which Akinfeev did the impossible (he saved a penalty with his foot while lying down)!
After the defeat in the game with Croatia, Artem shared his experiences without holding back his tears:
“Although our hearts are broken by the defeat and exit from the competition, we console ourselves with the fact that we showed a decent performance and reminded the whole world that Russian football is still alive.”
Already in 2008, Dzyuba was dissatisfied with the situation at Spartak
After the game with Tottenham, Artyom said in an interview:
“What really spurred me on was the fact that I wasn’t happy with my situation. I wanted to give my best to prove to my favorite club where I grew up: it’s too early to write off Dziuba.”
Spartak was going through a difficult period. In July 2008, a scandal broke out in the team. After the defeat from CSKA with a score of 1:5, the head coach of the red-and-white Stanislav Cherchesov sent veterans and club leaders - Yegor Titov and Maxim Kalinichenko - to the reserve team. This led to the indignation of fans and the imminent resignation of Cherchesov. Constant protests from Spartak fans forced team owner Leonid Fedun to make changes in management. In August, Sergei Shavlo left the post of general director of the red-whites, whose place was taken by Valery Karpin. A little later, Cherchesov lost his coaching post and was temporarily replaced by Igor Ledyakhov. Karpin invited Danish specialist Mikael Laudrup to take the place of head coach. Laudrup did not last long in his post and was fired in April 2009. After the Dane was fired, Valery Karpin was appointed interim head coach of the red-and-whites.
Against the backdrop of changes in the club's management, Dziuba's situation worsened. He entered the field in only 8 of 15 first-round matches in the 2009 season. This did not suit Artyom: he argued with Karpin more than once. According to Artyom, before his loan to Tom, he entered the field only thanks to the patronage of Oleg Romantsev, who advised Karpin at the beginning of his coaching work.
In the summer of 2009, Dzyuba was exiled to Tom because of the story of the theft of Bystrov’s money
At the summer training camp, Dzyuba went to visit Vladimir Bystrov, who lived in the same room with Nikita Bazhenov. Artyom came to play cards. The game was played intermittently. During one of them, Bystrov discovered the disappearance of 23,000 rubles. To understand the situation, the players called the team captain Martin Jiranek. Jiranek invited everyone to empty their pockets to prove their innocence. In Dzyuba’s pocket was the same amount that was missing from Bystrov.
Dzyuba claimed that he withdrew this money from a bank card in Moscow. In response, Jiranek asked the striker to order a printout from the bank. Then Artyom could not confirm his words.
Bystrov refused to comment on the theft story, and Dziuba was sent on loan to Tom, where he played the entire second round of the 2009 season and most of the 2010 season.
Dziuba later said that it was in “Tom” that he developed as a football player. Photo: sport-express.ru
Scandal with Bystrov

In 2009, at the Spartak training camp in Austria, a story happened that greatly damaged the football player’s reputation. Red-White midfielder Vladimir Bystrov
discovered the loss of 23,000 rubles, which, as it later turned out, were allegedly stolen by
Artem Dzyuba.
“Spartak” took Bystrov’s side in this conflict, and Dzyuba was sent to
“Tom”
under a lease agreement.
At the same time, it was announced that there was a video recording that confirmed the attacker’s involvement in stealing money from Bystrov. However, no one has seen this recording, and its existence may simply be fiction. Dzyuba himself claims that in this situation he was framed and this version is confirmed by ex-administrator of Spartak Alexander Khadzhi
. According to the striker, someday he will talk about all the details of the situation with Bystrov, but now Dziuba is not ready to talk about it yet.
After moving to Tom, footballer Artem Dzyuba very quickly became one of the leading players. He played for the Tomsk club until the end of the 2010 season and scored 15 goals in 35 matches. After such success, Dzyuba returned to Spartak and in the transition season 2011/12 scored 14 goals, becoming one of the team leaders.
Dzyuba called Emery “coach” and accused Karpin of discrimination
Artyom returned to Spartak after the 2010 season. Then the head coach of the red-whites was Valery Karpin, who led the red-whites until the end of the 2011/12 season. The 2011/12 season became the most successful for Dzyuba during the Spartak period of his career. In 41 matches of the Russian championship, he scored 11 goals, gave 8 assists and became the club’s best player in the “goal + pass” system.
After the 2011/12 season, Valery Karpin left the post of head coach of Spartak and focused on the work of general director. In his place, the red-and-white management invited Spaniard Unai Emery, who had previously coached Valencia. The contract was for 2 years, but Emery worked for only 6 months. He was hampered by ignorance of the language, Russian mentality and weak character. Emery introduced lengthy video reviews into the preparation for matches, which Spartak players were not used to, was too kind and gentle with the players and was unable to win the respect of the players. Dziuba did not take the Spanish mentor seriously.
In the 17th round of the championship of the 2012/13 season, Spartak lost to Dynamo Moscow (1:5). After the game, Artyom ignored the journalists’ questions, advising them to contact their “coach” – Emery. Afterwards, Dziuba apologized and even said that Emery was not to blame for the defeat.
After this incident, Dzyuba began to be called a “player.” Emery was fired on the day of the defeat, November 25. Unai assured that Dziuba played an important role in his dismissal. According to the Spaniard, Artyom turned journalists and players against him when Emery gave him little playing time.
Karpin returned to replace the fired Emery. Dziuba failed to establish relations with him either. Artyom recalled:
“With Karpin in the team there was a certain discrimination, some could do everything, others could do nothing. I didn’t speak, but if they asked me, I answered.”
Dzyuba was unhappy that Karpin, who served as the team’s general director during Emery’s tenure, often put pressure on him. According to Artyom, Karpin called him up more than once before matches, promised to replace him if the game didn’t go well, and threatened him.
Karpin considers Dziuba’s accusations of discrimination to be unfounded: “Any football player who does not play says that he is being strangled. Nobody oppressed him." Photo: sport‑express.ru
After Emery's dismissal, Artyom entered the field in 11 league matches, but scored only 1 goal. In July 2013, Dzyuba moved to Rostov on loan. Karpin explained this decision by switching to a new 4-3-3 scheme. There was no place for Dzyuba in it, and the player remained in reserve. In Rostov, Dzyuba won his first trophy - the Russian Cup.
Further career of Artem Dzyuba. FC Zenit
In July 2013, Dzyuba moved to FC Rostov on loan, where in the first “battle” against Terek he scored two goals and led the team to victory. In the next match with Tom, whom he knew well, Artyom scored a hat-trick. As part of the Rostov team, the young football player was awarded a “silver” place at the Russian Championship with 17 goals, losing to Seydou Doumbia from CSKA. As part of Rostov, Dzyuba also won his first prize - the Russian Cup.
Since 2020, Artem Dzyuba has been playing for Zenit
After a successful season, Artyom returned to Spartak. In the fall of 2014, the contract with the Moscow club ended, and Artyom refused to renew it because he received a more favorable offer from FC Zenit. The amount of the proposed contract reached €3.3 million, and in the summer of 2020 Artyom joined the legendary St. Petersburg team.
In the first game against Dynamo (July 19, 2015), Dzyuba earned a penalty, converted by Hulk. Artem Dzyuba scored his first goal for Zenit during the match against Ural.
On September 26, 2020, Spartak and Zenit entered into a confrontation at the Moscow Otkritie Arena. In the 87th minute of the match, Zenit striker Artem Dzyuba, with the help of Oleg Shatov, equalized the score - 2:2, but out of respect for his former teammates did not celebrate the achievement.
In the first match against Spartak, Dzyuba saved the team from defeat
During his first season as part of FC Zenit, Dziuba broke the Champions League record for the number of goals scored by Russians in one season: 6 goals, the last of which was a goal against FC Gent (the previous record belonged to Roman Shirokov).
Artem Dzyuba in training
Dziuba left Spartak with a scandal: he delayed extending the contract and was dissatisfied with its terms
In the 2014/15 season, Dziuba returned to the red and white. His loan to Rostov showed that he was in excellent shape - Artyom scored 20 goals during the season. Leonid Fedun did not hide the fact that he wants to extend the contract with the player. Artyom got off to a good start in the new season. In six starting rounds he scored six goals. Spartak offered Dzyuba a four-year contract. Under its terms, Dzyuba would have received more than 1.5 million euros.
Artyom refused. He argued his decision due to inconsistent and unfair treatment on the part of the club's management. Fedun responded by accusing Dziuba of greed.
Leonid Fedun: “We made an offer to Dzyuba, he must decide. To say that he is a superstar in today's game? Just like everyone else. He didn’t stand out in any way from the other guys who earn less than him.”
In January 2014, at a training camp in Spain, Fedun decided to release Dzyuba. By that time, Artyom could directly negotiate with other clubs, communicated with representatives of Zenit and refused three offers from Spartak. Dziuba was sent first to the reserve team, and then to Rostov, where he finished out the season. Then Artyom moved to Zenit. The blue-white-blues offered him a five-year contract and 3 million euros.

Biography
Anna Dzyuba was born on June 24, 1990 in the Ukrainian city of Cherkassy, becoming the second child in the family. Anya’s family was of average income, but despite this, her parents tried to pamper their beloved daughter.
At school, the girl studied well, and after school she went to a music school, where she sang in the choir and studied solfeggio. Anya was an artistic and bright child, thanks to which she was constantly involved in all school concerts and productions.
Singer Asti in childhood
After school, the future star wanted to enter a circus school. But the father insisted that his daughter receive a law degree, because “you can’t make a living by singing.” He gave advice from personal experience, since in his youth he himself was fond of music, but was forced to give up this activity. After listening to her father, Anna entered the Faculty of Law. During my student years, I worked part-time as a legal assistant and makeup artist.
Having given up on her dream, she practically stopped singing and did not even think about becoming an artist. Chance helped. The girl, thanks to the help of friends, shot a budget video clip and posted it on the Internet. By chance, the video work was seen by the then-famous Ukrainian producer Artyom Umrikhin (Asti), who worked with such stars as Ivan Dorn, Anna Sedokova, Dzhigan and Yulia Savicheva. He was so impressed by the girl’s talent that he found her phone number and offered to meet in person.
When they met, they agreed to cooperate. This is how the duet Artik & Asti was born. At first the group recorded their songs in Kyiv, but over time decided to move to Moscow. The first song that brought the group popularity was “My Last Hope.” It was often played on the radio, and the video clip for this composition received 1.5 million views. Now the group is actively touring Ukraine, Russia, as well as neighboring countries.
Childhood and youth
Anna was born in the city of Cherkasy, which is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River. In her childhood, she loved to spend time with the kids on the street, inventing a variety of games. Since at that time there was no Internet and all kinds of gadgets, one’s own imagination came to the rescue. Children played tag, made huts from branches and had picnics. Anya considers her childhood happy and remembers it with nostalgia.
The girl also has many pleasant memories about school. Studying was easy for her, the girl was constantly invited to participate in all school events, since she studied music and danced well. But there were also unpleasant moments. In her interviews, Asti still recalls how she was betrayed by her friends and beaten by high school boys. But troubles only strengthened my strong character and taught me to draw the right conclusions about people.
The path to popularity
Despite the fact that Anya dreamed of connecting her life with the stage from an early age, she chose the more mundane profession of a lawyer. Show business then seemed like something unattainable, where people got only thanks to big money or connections. Anna practically stopped singing, only occasionally posting cover versions of famous American hits on her social network page. Since the girl grew up listening to the songs of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, she tried to be like them in her performance style.
One of these videos caught the eye of the current producer of the Mushrooms group, Yuri Bardash. Knowing that his friend Artyom Umrikhin was looking for a vocalist for a new musical project, he advised him to pay attention to the performer. Anna then knew Artyom in absentia, because in Ukraine he was a fairly famous person, and when she heard his voice on the phone, she didn’t believe her own happiness, she was sure that she was being played. But a couple of days later they had a personal meeting.
First success
The duo recorded their first compositions in Kyiv. Their debut song “Antistress” was released in January 2012, but did not bring much popularity. But the second track “My Last Hope” has already been actively rotated on the radio, and the video for this composition has received 1.5 million views. The third song “Clouds” was also loved by listeners.
In 2013, Artyom decided to move to Moscow. The capital welcomed them with open arms, and their musical career quickly took off. In the fall of the same year, their debut album entitled “ParadiseOneNaTwo” was released. And six months later, the duo was nominated in the “Best Promotion” category at the Russian Music Box award.
The second album “Here and Now” was certified platinum three times and became one of the best-selling in 2020 according to Yandex.Music. The next album, “Number 1,” was released in the spring of 2017 and repeated the success of the previous one.
Present and creative plans for the future
The group became one of the most toured artists in Russian show business. They have received many nominations and awards from the most prestigious music awards: “Golden Gramophone”, “Muz-TV”, Insta Awards, VK Music Awards, “RU.TV”, “Major League”, Fashion People Awards, Top Hit Music Awards . The duo continues to record new hits and shoot video clips. Artik & Asti prefer to keep their plans for the future secret, but claim that they are not going to stop there.
Asti in his salon "Beauty Bureau"
In addition to her musical career, Asti went into business. She opened two beauty salons, Asti Beauty Bureau, in Moscow. He is promoting his own clothing line, Selfmade by Asti. Together with the company All in love atelier, she develops lingerie models and appears in advertising photo shoots for this brand.
At Zenit, Dzyuba went through rejection from fans and a loan
Artyom said that one of the main factors that pushed him to move to Zenit was the opportunity to play in the Champions League. In addition, Dzyuba noted that the club is constantly fighting for trophies. Artyom’s debut for the blue-white-blue took place on July 19, 2015 in the match of the 1st round of the championship. Zenit hosted Dynamo Moscow and won with a score of 2:1. In the first match for the blue-white-sky blues, Artyom earned a penalty and helped the team level the score. Dzyuba scored his first goal for Zenit in the 2nd round match with Ural.
Despite the successful start, Zenit fans did not immediately accept Dziuba. At the Petrovsky stadium, offensive chants were chanted at Artyom. The team received Dziuba well. Artyom said that he immediately managed to establish relationships with many of his teammates, including the club’s star, Hulk.
In the 2015/16 season, Hulk and Dzyuba scored 32 goals between them. Photo: rusfootball.info
The first season for Zenit was successful for Artyom. He won the Super Cup and the Russian Cup, helping the team take 3rd place in the championship. In the national championship, Dzyuba scored 15 goals and gave 6 assists. The blue-white-blue also reached the 1/8 finals of the Champions League. Dzyuba became the team's top scorer in the Champions League, scoring 6 goals in 8 games.
Artyom’s second season under the leadership of Mircea Lucescu was not so productive – 13 goals and 4 assists in the Russian Championship. With trophies, he was also less fortunate than in the 2015/16 season - with the blue-white-blue Dzyuba only won the Russian Super Cup.
The most unsuccessful for Artyom was the third season at Zenit. At the end of the 2016/17 season, Lucescu was fired as head coach of the blue-white-blues. Roberto Mancini took his place. Dzyuba did not fit into Mancini’s system. Mancini needed an attacking player who could move a lot, effectively carry out low attacks, open up zones and play ahead when serving from the flanks. Artyom was not mobile and multifunctional enough. Inconsistency with the new style and tense relations with Mancini led to a decline. Artyom played only 15 matches in the championship during the season, scored 1 goal and was sent on loan to Arsenal Tula. In Tula, Artyom rehabilitated himself - he scored 6 goals in 10 matches.
Dzyuba said about Mancini: “He’s not a coach at all.” Photo: fc-zenit.ru
Dziuba admitted that the time when Zenit coached Mancini was especially difficult for him: “I went to training as if it were hard labor. I didn’t want to see him, his narcissism is a nightmare.”
Mancini left the post of head coach of Zenit at the end of the 2017/18 season. Sergei Semak became the new coach of the blue-white-blues. In the first season under the leadership of Semak, Zenit won the Russian championship. Dziuba had a good championship season. He scored 8 goals and provided 10 assists, becoming the team's top assister.
Career
Already at the age of eight, Artyom studied at the Spartak Academy. Alexander Yartsev immediately decided that the boy who came to him would have a stellar sports biography, and he was not mistaken. Soon the athlete began playing in a team with adults and performed in the second team of Spartak. A year later, the young man played in the team at the Russian Cup match with rivals from the Yekaterinburg Ural. This was followed by the national championship and the Russian Cup. The footballer played 27 matches, scored 6 goals, becoming the top scorer.
In 2009, during the team's performance in Austria, a scandal occurred.
Vladimir Bystrov's money was stolen and it was found in the possession of a young promising player from Dziuba's team. There was an obvious setup, but the footballer was transferred to Tom. This club treated the player with respect. The young man appreciated this very much. In one season, the team's striker scored ten goals. Despite the well-deserved respect and authority, Artyom left the team for his native Spartak. In the next two seasons, the footballer scored two out of three goals and brought victory to his team over the Swiss Basel. Soon the forward played in a match with Zenit wearing the captain's armband. Spartak won and entered the Champions League.
For a short time, Dzyuba showed low performance in the game. The footballer was replaced by Emmanuel Emenike. Valery Karpin was appointed coach of the team, who did not have any special affection for the football player; he was a reserve player for some time. It was necessary to act somehow, and the athlete agreed to a loan at FC Rostov. He again managed to score winning goals in the game against the Terek team. It was with this team that the footballer became the best scorer and received the Russian Cup.
Dzyuba returned to his former club again, thanks to which Spartak beat Rubin and Dynamo. The footballer refused the proposed contracts with Spartak and moved to Zenit. He was offered more than 3 million euros. In this team, the Zenit player again proved himself to be a master at scoring decisive goals against someone else's goal. In one of the matches, as a result of tough play, a Terek player was injured. Having recovered, the striker regained his former form and began scoring goals for his opponents.
Artem did not get into the national team right away. At first, the forward was included in the youth team, and after 2 years he already played in the second national team, and then in the main team. The footballer lived up to the coach's expectations when, in conjunction with Roman Shirokov, he scored a penalty against the team from the USA.
Dzyuba's goals invariably brought the Russian national team victories in matches with the national teams of Sweden, Liechtenstein, and Moldova. Sometimes the media fuels the game of football players with various scandalous facts. All fans know that Artyom is a very well-mannered player. He tries not to go beyond the rules of the football game. There was a second moment in the striker’s football biography when the team entrusted him with becoming captain. This happened at Zenit too. The footballer is again taken on loan, this time to the Arsenal club from Tula. When Zenit and Arsenal met on the field, the footballer led the Tula team to a draw.
Dzyuba became a leader in the national team thanks to his leading role at the 2018 World Cup
Artyom was called up to the main Russian national team in November 2011. He made his first appearance for the national team in a friendly match against Greece on 11 November. Artyom started, spent 45 minutes on the field and was replaced at half-time.
Then the national team was coached by Dick Advocaat. Dzyuba did not fit into the Dutchman’s tactical system and was not included in the Euro 2012 squad. The lawyer explained that Artyom’s absence from the application was due to the need to maintain balance in all lines.
Dick Advocaat: “Dziuba is a pure forward, of which there are many in our team.”
In May 2014, Capello called Dzyuba to the national team because Artyom had a great club season.
Photo: ITAR-TASS Artyom was unable to prove himself in the national team under Fabio Capello. In the qualification for the 2014 World Cup, Dzyuba played only one match - against Northern Ireland. After the first half, Artyom replaced Alexander Kerzhakov and spent 45 minutes on the field. Capello did not take Dziuba to the other qualifying matches held in September and October 2013. Artyom did not make it to the group stage of the World Championship.
Before the 2020 World Cup, Dzyuba’s most successful qualification was qualifying for Euro 2016. In nine qualifying matches, Artyom scored 8 goals, including 4 against Liechtenstein in the game on September 8, 2020. Artyom became the second football player in the history of the Russian and USSR national teams to score more than 3 goals in a match.
Before the Liechtenstein-Russia meeting, only forward Oleg Salenko scored more than 3 goals per game in the national team. On June 28, 1994, Salenko scored 5 goals against the Cameroon national team.
In the qualifying for Euro 2016, Artyom updated Vladimir Beschastnykh’s record for the number of goals scored in qualifying for the World Cup. In the qualification for the 2002 World Cup, Beschastnykh scored 7 goals.
At the 2020 World Championships, Dzyuba was able to fully demonstrate his leadership qualities. He scored a goal in the national team's first match at the World Cup, scoring the ball against the Saudi Arabian team a minute after entering the field. Artyom helped the team reach the quarterfinals and became the team's best player in the goal+pass system (3 goals and 2 assists). At the end of the national team’s performance, Dzyuba was the best football player at the 2018 World Cup in terms of the number of horsemanships won (41).
Many fans remember Artyom primarily as a brilliant motivator. In the quarter-final match, the Russian team met with Croatia. The match ended 2:2 in regulation time and went to a penalty shootout. In front of her, Dziuba gathered all the players of the national team around him and said: “Guys! I am proud of you! I love you! Now just enjoy this moment! He [Croatian goalkeeper] goes ahead. Do not hurry! If you’re not sure, just hit the center.”
Croatia knocked Russia out of the playoffs, winning 6:5 in a penalty shootout. After the match, Dzyuba could not hold back his tears.
“First of all, I want to thank my partners <… >. I am proud of them and love them like family. <… > All our lives we wanted to prove to the whole country that we want to be proud of us.”
Artyom also had an excellent qualification for the European Championship, which was supposed to take place in 2020. At the qualifying stage, Dzyuba became the best player of the team in the goal+pass system with 9 goals and 5 assists. Only 5 players scored more than Artyom in qualifying, including Harry Kane (12) and Cristiano Ronaldo (11).

Roman Shirokov and Artem Dzyuba
In 2009, a scandal occurred in the football player’s club career. Player Vladimir Bystrov lost a large sum of money during a competition in Austria. The funds were found from Dziuba. Artem stated that he was a victim of a scam, and he himself was framed. As a result of the incident, the athlete was transferred to the Tom team.
Here Artem Dzyuba quickly gained authority. In 2010, the football player became the team's main forward. This season, the Russian striker managed to score 10 goals. Artem Dzyuba in the Spartak club
Artem Dzyuba experienced some decline in the results of his game in 2012. The footballer gave up his place in the team's starting lineup to Emmanuel Emenike. In November of the same year, Valery Karpin again became the head coach, under whom Artem was destined for the role of a reserve player. Therefore, the footballer moved on loan to the Rostov football club.
Here in May 2013, Dzyuba scored 2 goals in a match against Terek, thanks to which the team won. In July of the same year, the football player scored a hat-trick in a match with Tom and became the top scorer of the championship. As part of Rostov, Artem Dzyuba won his first trophy - the Russian Cup. And again return to Spartak. In the first match of the championship, the athlete managed to distinguish himself and score 2 goals in the game against Rubin. 2 more goals from Dzyuba - in the game with Dynamo.
In the fall of 2014, the athlete refused to renew his old contract with Spartak and rejected the proposed new one. Information appeared in the media about his possible transfer to Lokomotiv Moscow. But at this time the forward received an offer to play for Zenit St. Petersburg. The amount of the new contract was € 3.3 million. Dzyuba joined the club in July 2020.

Artem Dzyuba at the Zenit club
Then he said that he was glad to be in a team that sets itself the task of winning every match and winning titles. In the same month, the footballer made a successful debut, scoring a penalty in a game against Dynamo.
In August 2014, in a match against Terek, Dzyuba was injured - a broken nose in a collision with Brazilian Varken Adilson, so after recovery he took to the field wearing a special mask. This did not stop the football player from participating in the qualifying match for Euro 2016 of the Russian national team in September 2014.
In September 2020, Artem Dzyuba, as part of Zenit, scored a goal against Spartak, leveling the score 2:2. But the striker did not celebrate this goal out of respect for his native, albeit former club. At Zenit he received number 22.
The best goals of Artem Dzyuba
Another Zenit match was remembered by fans, although not for the number of goals, but for the scandal that occurred after the game. It was a competition between Zenit and Krasnodar. Dziuba managed to score a goal in the 86th minute, and victory was just around the corner. But the Krasnodar team managed to win back in extra time, with two goals flying into the Zenit goal at once.
While still on the field, Dzyuba showed an obscene gesture to his teammate, goalkeeper Yuri Lodygin. And then all the media trumpeted about their fight in the locker room. But both representatives of the football club and the players themselves denied this information.
In September 2015, as part of the Russian national team, Dzyuba scored a goal against the Swedish team and brought victory to his country. And in the next game with Liechtenstein, the athlete managed to score 4 goals. Artem became the second national team player to score more than 3 goals in one game. On October 9, 2020, Artem Dzyuba scored the 8th goal in the Euro 2016 qualifying tournament in the match against Moldova, updating the goal record in the Russian national team.

Artem Dzyuba in the Russian national team at the 2018 World Cup
In March 2020, the athlete left the Russian national football team, which was training in Krasnodar. The striker injured his knee, so he did not participate in the team’s first training session. He underwent an examination in Moscow, as a result of which he joined the team a little later. True, there is a version that the knee injury is an excuse. Allegedly, in fact, then there was a conflict between Dzyuba and coach Stanislav Cherchesov. Nevertheless, the coach himself said that he did not quarrel with Dzyuba.
Soon, information appeared in the Russian press that Artem Dzyuba announced his decision to continue his career in China. The footballer himself announced such plans on his Twitter page. According to “his” words, he made a very difficult decision for himself. In the comments to the post, most users considered the publication to be fake. However, that is what she turned out to be. Dziuba does not have a Twitter account, only his Instagram page is verified.

Artem Dzyuba
In November 2020, Dzyuba played his 100th match for Zenit, playing against Tosno. Subsequently, the footballer was removed from the main team. In December, they began to say that perhaps Artem would soon become a CSKA player. But it was not about a transfer, but about a rental.
In January 2018, he was loaned until the end of the season to Arsenal Tula. The fact is that on June 1, 2017, Italian Roberto Mancini was appointed head coach of Zenit, and he initially did not find a common language with Dzyuba. But, to everyone’s surprise, after the transition the footballer’s statistics changed for the better. At Arsenal he played and scored goals, rather than sitting on the bench.
In April 2020, a match took place between Zenit and Tula Arsenal. And it was Artem Dzyuba, on loan from Zenit, who brought Tula a draw in this game. He equalized the score in the 89th minute and celebrated this goal in front of the Zenit bench. Dziuba turned his back to Mancini and pointed to his last name on the jersey.

Artem Dzyuba and Alexander Kokorin
In June 2020, it became known that Artem Dzyuba was included in the final roster of the Russian national football team for the World Cup in the Russian Federation. On June 14, the opening match of the 2018 World Cup took place at Luzhniki. The Russian national team defeated Saudi Arabia with a score of 5:0. Artem Dzyuba came on as a substitute for Fedor Smolov and scored with his head in the 1st minute after appearing on the field. After celebrating this goal, Dzyuba ran up to Cherchesov, and he put his hand to his head, saluting the striker. This frame quickly spread across social networks and the media.
On June 19, the Russian team met with Egypt as part of the 2018 World Cup. The Russian national team won with a score of 3:1, advancing to the World Cup playoffs for the first time in 32 years. Dzyuba did his part by scoring a goal in the 62nd minute. From then on, he began marking goals by putting his hand to his head.

Artem's signature gesture
On July 1, 2020, Artem Dzyuba scored the only goal scored by the Russian national team in regular time during the 1/8 finals match between Spain and Russia. For the Russian national team this was a great achievement, because for the first time in history it reached the 1/4 finals of the World Cup after a penalty shootout, in which Igor Akinfeev showed himself to be a real hero.
Russian fans were looking forward to the game with the Croats. The match differed from the previous one in its dynamics, many dangerous moments and beautiful goals. Denis Cheryshev put the Russians ahead with a shot into the top corner, the Croats responded with two goals and only Mario Fernandez's header sent the Russians into the penalty shootout, where Croatia was stronger.

Artem Dzyuba and Denis Cheryshev
Following the results of the tournament, Dzyuba and Denis Cheryshev were included in the symbolic team of 11 football players who made a breakthrough in the game at the 2018 World Cup according to ESPN.
Artem overnight became a folk hero and a favorite of the entire country. But just 2 months before the championship there was no talk of any love. On the contrary, some football fans expressed a diametrically opposite opinion about him:
“An untalented football player and a man with a bad character.”
Dziuba showed his best side; all his scandalous statements and conflicts were forgotten. The footballer distinguished himself not only on the field, but also off it. Artem became the “ringleader” of the team. A couple of minutes before entering the field, the young man shouted at his colleagues.

Artem Dzyuba at the training session of the Russian national team
In the second half of the match with Spain, Dzyuba, who had been replaced by that time, got up from the bench and began to throw his hands up, and the spectators in the stands began to support the team even more actively. Before the decisive penalty shootout in the match with the Croats, Artem went to the center of the circle and began to encourage the team:
“Guys, I'm proud of you! I love you! For now, just enjoy this moment. Do not hurry. If you're not sure, just hit the center. Come on, come on!".
Dziuba conquered everyone with his sincerity. After the match with the Croats, Artem could not hold back his tears and cried during an interview with Channel One:
“All our lives we wanted to prove to the whole country that we want to be proud of us, that football is alive. We are grateful to the whole country for these emotions. Our hearts are broken, but we fought like lions..."
Thanks to Artem, Russian fans believed that “our expectations are not only our problems,” as Andrei Arshavin once said.

After the 2018 World Cup, foreign clubs became interested in the talented and charismatic footballer, including the English Cardiff City, the Chinese Shanghai Shenhua, the French Bordeaux and the Turkish Galatasaray. But now Artem continues to play for Zenit St. Petersburg; he returned to the team after a loan spell at Arsenal.
As part of the League of Nations, Dzyuba was chosen as captain of the Russian national team during the absence of the injured Igor Akinfeev, as well as after his departure in the fall of 2018.
Dzyuba could have gone to Europe - to West Ham or Tottenham
European clubs have repeatedly shown interest in Dziuba. During an away meeting with Lyon in the 2015/16 Champions League, according to commentator Gennady Orlov, Dzyuba was looked at by scouts from Europe. Artyom himself reported on offers from the English clubs West Ham United and Tottenham. In the summer of 2018, Artyom said that he agreed to move to Everton, West Ham and Newcastle and especially wanted to move to the Hammers camp.
“For my part, I did everything possible and waited, practically sitting on my suitcases. <… > When day X came, the people who were doing this and saying that everything was fine simply dissolved and disappeared.”
In February 2020, it became known about Tottenham's interest in Dziuba. Artyom was on the short list of Spurs coach Jose Mourinho, but the transfer was never agreed upon due to Zenit’s reluctance to part with the player. In addition, at that time there was already an agreement between the blue-white-blues and Dzyuba on a new contract.

She found out about this later when she told her father about her new acquaintance.
The union of Christina and Artyom was on the verge of collapse after a scandal in 2015. Then Dzyuba was filmed in a car with married TV presenter Maria Orzul. The couple hugged and exchanged kisses. Orzul's husband filed for divorce. Kristina found the strength to forgive Artyom and did not break off the relationship.
Christina gave birth to Artyom two sons: in 2013 - Nikita, in 2016 - Maxim. Artyom loves children. On April 24, 2020, Dzyuba’s eldest son Nikita turned 6 years old. On this day, Zenit played with Dynamo. Artyom scored the first goal and helped the team win 2:0. Dzyuba dedicated the goal he scored to his son.
