Pair skating
2010 was a turning point in the sports career of Evgenia Tarasova. She moved from her native Kazan to the capital of Russia and switched to pair skating. The girl began to train with Yegor Chudin. They quickly worked together and soon became members of the national team. However, this tandem did not last long. A year later, Yegor decided to leave the sport and perform at ice shows.
Evgenia's new partner in the spring of 2012 was the promising figure skater Vladimir Morozov. And within a year, the newly married couple achieved some success. They took prizes in Russian championships and won the Warsaw Cup (2012). Having worked together, Evgenia and Vladimir improved their results.
For 5 years, Tarasova and Morozov took part in many prestigious competitions and championships. Their joint achievements include gold in the Golden Horse of Zagreb (2015) and Ondrej Nepela Memorial (2017) tournaments, the 2020 European Championship and the Grand Prix Final (2017), as well as a number of silver and bronze awards (Grand Prix). at the Russian Cup, Skate Canada International, Eric Bompard Prize, Skate America, World Team Championship).
This star pair of skaters has many fans not only in Russia, but all over the world. They even received the cute nickname “saffron milk caps”. By the way, the couple communicates closely not only during training and performances, but also in life. They are often seen together outside the stadium.
Childhood
Evgenia was born on December 17, 1994 in Kazan. The girl and her sister were raised by their mother and grandmother, who now live in the small village of Derbyshki in the suburbs of the capital of Tatarstan.
Evgenia Tarasova in childhood
Tarasova’s grandmother dreamed of her granddaughter taking up ballroom dancing, but in the end the choice fell on another sport. A coach helped me decide on a future activity when he noticed little Zhenya at the Raketa stadium - the girl started skating at the age of 4 and was not afraid of the ice. So Tarasova began to attend Kazan sports school No. 1.

Soon, Zhenya’s abilities were appreciated by the famous coach Gennady Tarasov (the athlete’s namesake), who took what he thought was a promising girl into his group. However, Evgenia managed to learn very little from the great master - when she was 11 years old, Tarasov died.
Biography of Tarasova
Zhenya was born on December 17, 1994 in Kazan. She got into sports at a very young age. The girl skated at the Kazan Raketa stadium, and the coaches “noticed” her. They advised the mother to send her daughter to a figure skating school. Thus, in 1998, at the age of 4, Tarasova began her victorious journey on the ice.
Evgenia was trained by namesake Gennady Tarasov and Vyacheslav Golovlev. The hardworking and petite girl (her height is 158 centimeters) performed the programs perfectly. Tarasova won her first serious victory in 2007 at the III Winter Spartakiad of Russian students of the Volga and Ural Federal Districts, winning gold. A year later, Zhenya took 4th place in the junior Grand Prix tournament (Belarus). In 2009, the figure skater took 12th place at the Russian championship among girls singles.
Career
Tarasova quickly became one of the most successful single figure skaters in Tatarstan and joined the Russian junior team. After good performances at several competitions in 2010, the girl moved to Moscow at the invitation of Yegor Chudin, who became her partner. Nina Mikhailovna Moser began training the couple.

After joining the Russian national team in 2011, Chudin unexpectedly decided to go into ice shows, while Zhenya strived for great sporting achievements. Some time later, Zhenya paired up with Vladimir Morozov and began working with the honored coach of Russia Stanislav Morozov.
The beginning of the history of this sports couple was very successful: they won the Warsaw Cup in the 2012-2013 season, became fifth at the 2013 Youth World Championships and fourth in the Junior Grand Prix final in Japan, and improved their results at the Universiade in Italy and took second place.
One of the best couples in Russian figure skating
After Vladimir’s unfortunate falls at the 2014 Russian Championships in Sochi and the last eighth place, the couple managed to overcome the failure and show brilliant results at the Russian junior championships, and then the Junior World Championships in Sofia (gold and silver).
Soon Evgenia and Vladimir began working with Andrei Hekalo, who was joined by five-time world champion, German athlete Robin Szolkowy (former partner of current Olympic champion Alena Savchenko). The alliance with experienced professionals has borne fruit - the guys increasingly began to take prizes and show amazing results in every season.

In the pre-Olympic season, the couple performed very well, which ensured their participation in the Olympics in Pyeongchang. In January 2017, Tarasova and Morozov won the European Championship for the second time in a row, ahead of the legendary pair Alen Savchenko - Bruno Massot. In the spring of 2017, the couple took bronze at the World Championships and silver at the 2017 Russian Championships, where the guys lost only a point to the more experienced Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov.

On the way to great victories, Evgenia was not broken even by the leg injury that she received three weeks before participating in the World Team Championship in Tokyo. This did not stop the couple from performing well and bringing the team enough points for a silver medal.
“There’s been something wrong with her brain for a long time”: Rodnina and Tarasova got into a fight
Relations between Tarasova and Rodnina began to deteriorate during the time they worked together as a coach and figure skater. Rodnina came to Tarasova in 9174 already in the status of an Olympic champion, but according to many, it was under this coach that the Rodnina-Zaitsev developed a signature style. Despite this, the skater considered Stanislav Zhuk , and around the same time the relationship between Rodnina and Tarasova began to crack.
Rodnina released the first portion of criticism towards Tarasova in her autobiographical book “Tear of a Champion,” where she called working with the honored coach of the USSR “emotional.” According to the Olympic champion Tatyana Anatolyevna, “just as she loves backhand, she hits backhand.”
And Tarasova soon confirmed this theory, more than once criticizing Rodnina the man and Rodnina the deputy. A month ago, the famous coach again pricked her former student, complaining that Rodnina “does not remember and does not appreciate” the actions addressed to her:
“I even feel sorry for Ira when I hear her, honestly. After all, it was with me that she became great. But this is the kind of person she is, with such a character. I always knew this, but I went out of my way: I couldn’t afford for Ira to be second and not first.
I took her child from the maternity hospital, found music for her, so that immediately after the birth of her son, Ira would get used to the idea that she would return and win again. If a person does not remember and does not appreciate such things, why should I be upset about this? I don’t even want to think about it.”
In turn, Rodnina often criticizes Tarasova for her work as a commentator. And the Honored Trainer of the USSR does not like the parliamentary career of her former student. This is what she managed to share quite recently, unleashing another conflict in the media.
“Why does she work there? I will also keep an eye on her, why I need her. Some scandals that are being written about. She's generally absurd, Ira. I worked so hard and joyfully with her that my communication with her was enough for the rest of my life. Therefore, I am completely free, this is not my friend, not the person with whom I can share my joy or sorrow.
Her mother Yulia Yakovlevna, who squeezed her juices with her hands with a pressure of 300, was escorted to the next world by my mother, not Rodnina. Ira did not come from America. There are some things that remain with you because a person does not change. That’s why I was always embarrassed that she was Jewish and never talked about it.”
In addition, Tarasova stated that Rodnina sent former figure skater Elena Cherkasskaya to a tournament in Australia when she had stage four cancer, during which she could not even drink water. Here Rodnina did not remain silent, saying that Tarasova “has something wrong with her brain”:
“I would advise Tatyana Anatolyevna to delve a little into history. If there is that moment, then it is 1981. And Cherkasskaya died of cancer in 2000. Do these words hurt me? It’s not my job to comment on Tarasova’s words. You need to justify something. God will judge her, Tarasova has lost something in her brain a long time ago. And it’s dirty to talk about a person who is no longer there.”
Personal life of Evgenia Tarasova
Fans attribute Tarasova to an affair with Vladimir Morozov - the athletes do not confirm or refute these guesses. On the girl’s Instagram account you can see many photos together with Vladimir, taken outside the skating rink; the girl does not hide the fact that they are connected not only by a working relationship.
Evgenia also admitted that she is not yet planning to start a family and get married, but wants to focus on figure skating and maintaining excellent physical shape.

Alexey Yagudin did not ignore his coach either. He published a childhood photograph of Tatyana Anatolyevna with her parents and wrote a heartfelt congratulation.
“On February 13, 1947, the daughter of the most famous Soviet hockey coach was born, who was able to overcome the fear of most “great people” and achieve enormous success in the coaching field, but only in figure skating (7 Olympic medals in 3 out of 4 possible disciplines, and world champions and medalists and Europe cannot be considered that way at all), and later in his oratory skills, becoming one of the most interesting, emotional, cheerful, reasonable and fair sports commentators in the world. Happy birthday!" — Yagudin wrote on Instagram.
Tarasova's students include many Olympic champions, including: Ilya Kulik, Alexey Yagudin, Oksana Grischuk and Evgeny Platov, Natalya Bestemyanova and Andrey Bukin.

In the individual championship, having good chances of winning or at least winning places, due to an unfortunate mistake the couple found themselves outside the podium, taking 4th position.
However, in the team competition, together with Russian figure skaters Mikhail Kolyada, Evgenia Medvedeva, Alina Zagitova, Natalya Zabiyako and Alexander Enbert, Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitry Solovyov, the guys received a silver medal.

In the same year, she teamed up with Yegor Chudin. The couple trained under the guidance of Andrei Hekalo and since 2011, the skaters have joined the Russian national team. At the end of the year, Chudin decided to focus on working in ice shows and the couple broke up. In the spring of 2012, Tarasova teamed up with Vladimir Morozov. The skaters did not qualify for the European Championships in Bratislava and were only reserves. However, the two best Russian pairs were unable to go to the tournament due to injuries, and the skaters went to the continental championship, repeating last year’s achievement and winning bronze. At the world championships in Boston in early April, the Russian pair managed to take fifth place and improved their athletic achievements in the short program and total.
The couple began the 2020 pre-Olympic season in Slovakia at the Nepela Memorial, which they confidently won.
