Biography
Andrei Rostotsky has a happy creative biography. The artist’s on-screen heroes are similar to him, just as desperate, risky, and emerging from a difficult situation with honor. He tried to play scoundrels, but even film bureaucrats said that with such “positive charm” the murderer or rapist Rostotsky would not convince anyone. Then Andrei chose the adventure genre, only, like any normal person, he developed the principle of survival:
“Anticipate. If possible, avoid. If necessary, act! And accumulate positive emotions in yourself.”

Childhood and youth
Andrey was born and raised in Moscow. Since childhood, he saw all the pros and cons of creative professions, since his father Stanislav Rostotsky was a famous film director of the films “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” and “White Bim Black Ear,” and his mother Nina Menshikova was an actress, star of the melodramas “We’ll Live Until Monday” and “ Girls".

Andrei Rostotsky in his youth,
Andrei went to a special school with in-depth study of the English language and as a teenager did not have the most accommodating character, he could enter into confrontation with any bully, even despite the fact that he himself was short (169 cm). While studying in the last grade, Rostotsky began attending Sergei Bondarchuk’s acting workshop at the Institute of Cinematography as a volunteer and, having received a certificate, continued his education on a general basis.
Due to the fact that the aspiring actor was actively involved in filming films, he had to miss a lot of classes, and expulsion loomed. Rostotsky’s acting talent saved him - just then he received the first prize at the film festival for the role of Mitya Krasikov in the film “We Didn’t Go Through This,” and the leadership of VGIK allowed the guy to stay at the institute.

After his studies, Andrei served in a separate cavalry regiment. This part of the star’s life was also recorded on film, since together with a horse named Record, he not only won regimental equestrian competitions, but also starred in the adventure film “The End of the Taiga Emperor.”
Rostotsky is also known as an instructor at the VITALIS survival school. Together with the founder Vitaly Sundukov, he made an expedition through the caves of the Crimean mountains and made a documentary about this journey, “In Search of Traces of the Cimmerian Civilization,” and crossed the United States in an SUV.

From 2000 until his death, Andrei taught acting at the Moscow Commercial Institute of Contemporary Art, and gave lessons in stage combat and fencing. He also collaborated with television channels.
In addition to a series of historical and journalistic documentaries under the general title “My War,” the actor acted as the main director of the program “Aty-Bati...”, the host of the military-historical magazine “I See the Target” on the “Culture” channel and the program “Serving Russia” on ORT, as well as the creator and host of “Fisherman’s World”.
Childhood of Andrei Fedortsov
Andrey was born in Leningrad.
His parents are people far from acting and cinema. With his younger sister, Andrei often acted out home performances and concerts, although he liked more the process of preparation, the design of programs and tickets. He always had a warm relationship with his sister, even when they were just children. My father worked as an engineer, and my mother was a general practitioner. An interesting story happened to Andrei when he and his parents were vacationing in the south. One day an employee of Lenfilm approached them and suggested that his mother cast little Andrei in a movie. Mom didn’t agree then, although Andrei’s film debut could have taken place even then.
Fedortsov never had complexes for any reason. During his school years, he was involved in wrestling, so anyone who laughed at his protruding ears immediately got it from Andrei so much that he didn’t want to laugh anymore. When he grew up, already in high school it turned out that his height was only one meter and sixty centimeters. But this didn’t bother him at all. He always believed that it was not a matter of height, the main thing was to be a man.
There was never a dictatorship in the family; if children were punished, it was only for work. However, there was no talk of any assault.
Actor Andrei Fedortsov in childhood
Andrey's patronymic is Albertovich, although it could have been Olegovich. His father's childhood was during wartime. Andrei’s grandfather went to the front, and their village was occupied. A German named Albert was placed in the house, like many others. Before the start of the punitive operation, he helped the family escape from the village, thereby saving their lives. After this incident, Andrei's father, whose name was Oleg, was renamed, giving him the name Albert.
In those days, it was not easy to buy or get some things. Many of Andrey’s peers dreamed of going abroad to see the world and, well, buy something. Andrey was no exception. For the opportunity to see different countries, he entered the naval school and graduated with excellent marks, since only with such marks could he be taken on foreign voyages. Andrey saw many European countries and went on a cargo ship.
The young man had no desire not to join the army. When he was called, he went to pay his debt to his homeland. Andrey served in a mine demolition platoon. He went into the reserve as a senior sergeant and platoon commander. During his service, he once had to replace a soldier who was participating in an amateur performance. The debut was successful. His colleagues roared with laughter, and Andrei liked it. Since then, he has become a frequent participant in soldier performances.
Fedortsov worked in many different jobs, and these were often completely different positions. He worked both as an administrator in a rock club and as a stage driver in a theater. Quite unexpectedly for many, I attended farming courses for two years. Other positions and places of work followed. He graduated from the St. Petersburg Theater Academy named after Cherkasov at almost thirty.
Movies
Rostotsky’s filmography consists of projects in which the central characters are men without fear or reproach, integral, devoted to their ideals. In the film “Staying with You” it is Arkady Gaidar, in “Days of the Turbins” by Vladimir Basov it is young Nikolai, in “Squadron of Flying Hussars” it is the hero of the war of 1812 Denis Davydov, in “Raskol” it is Emperor Nicholas II.

Leading actress Daria Yurskaya considers “Countess Sheremeteva” to be the last full-fledged film, after which stagnation set in in Russian cinema. Here the actor reincarnated as the head of a noble Russian family, a philanthropist and philanthropist.
The action film "Company of Men" is essentially a film about a film: the plot centers on a film crew working on accidents and explosions on location. Andrei first performed his own life-threatening stunt stunt in the military drama “They Fought for the Motherland,” in the episode of the death of his hero Corporal Kochetygov under a tank. So far, no actor has been able to repeat this complex technique.
Andrey Rostotsky (still from the film “Invincible”)
As a director, Rostotsky was remembered by viewers for the 1990 adventure film “St. John’s Wort,” based on the famous novel by Fenimore Cooper. In the film, Andrei made a different emphasis when compared with the popular film adaptations of this work. He showed the beauty of nature, the cruelty and senselessness of war, and did not idealize the image of the Indians and artificially whip up the anger of the colonialists.
Rostotsky’s last directorial work was the film “My Border,” which he never had time to complete. Ivan Solovov finished filming the war drama. Andrey's name is not indicated in the credits.
What is he like now?
Andrey Noils is now a popular guy who is being pursued by girls. He is the center of attention and many recognize him on the street and ask him to take a selfie. Andrey himself loves cinema very much, and never misses new film releases.
He goes to the gym and believes that he needs to take care of his body. He has a good physique, but does not like to show off and show off his results.
Friends say about him that he is a kind, cheerful, charismatic person. He rarely sits in one place and tries to constantly be busy with something.

The second wife was his neighbor next door, Marianna, who from her youth considered herself a fan of his talent. The couple had a daughter, Olga, in 1989. Andrei has two children - another daughter was born to a woman who was 9 years older, but the artist’s relatives did not go into details of this side of the artist’s personal life.
Olga graduated from VGIK, married actor and director Alexei Bochenin, lives in her father’s apartment and, if possible, tries to maintain the same environment. Marianna heads the department at the same university and heads the Stanislav and Andrei Rostotsky cultural and creative heritage fund.

Throughout his life, the actor did not part with sports. He was considered one of the best fencing experts in the country with historical weapons. In equestrian eventing he became a candidate for master of sports, and in 1998 - champion at a distance of 400 m.
In addition, Rostotsky is an avid fisherman and hunter who competed in fishing competitions for the Spartak team. Another hobby was carpentry. He made home furniture, smoking pipes and mouthpieces from mahogany.
Unique talent
Andrei Rostotsky, according to his type, played positive heroes. He gave all his characters a unique charm.
In addition to acting, Rostotsky was a professional stuntman. It is hardly possible to name such masters of combat using historical weapons.
The son of front-line director and actress Nina Menshikova, Andrei burst into cinema and created many unforgettable images. In addition, the talented guy becomes the host of many educational television programs.
Rostotsky's stunt skills began to develop when he served in the cavalry. His horse, under the guidance of a skilled rider, became the winner of regimental competitions, and then, together with Andrei, took part in the filming of the film.

Death
The cause of Andrei Rostotsky's death in May 2002 was severe injuries received when falling from a cliff at the "Maiden's Tears" waterfall. The director went to the outskirts of Sochi to find a place to film the film “My Border”. A forensic examination proved that the tragedy occurred as a result of an accident.

The grave of Andrei Rostotsky
According to the widow, “there are a lot of moving stones in that place, it seems that the boulder is firmly lying on the ground, but in fact it is hanging in the air,” and Andrei is not the only one who died like this. The area was subsequently fenced off and a warning sign was posted.
The grave of Andrei Rostotsky is located at the Vagankovskoye cemetery next to his father, who passed away nine months earlier.
How it became popular
The first popularity did not come to him right away, and at first Andrey was just a simple subscriber of the TikTok application. In 2017, he registered in this application. First of all, he uploaded his video clip, which he prepared especially for this. He liked it, and the TikTok app promotes videos very quickly even if you don’t have your own audience. He liked it, and he decided to make another, and then another video.
The videos started to appear in recommendations. His popularity began to grow by leaps and bounds. The number of fans grew more and more every day. In his videos, he mostly filmed himself, which is why the subscribers of his account love him. Because his main audience is female.
Subscribers gave Andrey a nickname and called him a cinnamon bun, which is what they think he most resembles. The more he shot videos and appeared on camera, the more this nickname stuck to him.

He was called the “Russian Gerard Philip.” Not only for the fact that he stood perfectly in the saddle, shot, fenced, and performed the most difficult tricks without doubles, but also for his sympathy for the times when the word “duel” was pronounced without irony.

His wife's name also sounds like a greeting from the century before last. Rostotsky shortened Marianna to Masha. “Now I don’t allow anyone to call me that, it’s his name,” says Marianna. She has been a widow for eight months now.
When I was a child, he taught me to shoot
Before becoming Rostotskaya, Marianna was Andrei's friend and neighbor for a long time.
— We lived together for 19 years. And we met as children. Our apartments were nearby, our parents were friends. My dad worked at the Mission Control Center, but they still gave us an apartment in the actors' house.
- How did you end up there?
- It was a strange story. Mom was looking for an exchange, and suddenly she was told that there was an option in the house where the Rostotskys lived. Mom said: “Well, if the Rostotskys, then we change.” And Andrei and I have a lot of such signs... At first we lived on the seventh, the Rostotskys - on the fifth. Then they moved to our floor. I was a child, seven years younger than Andrey. Andrey taught me how to shoot from some toy pistols and gave me books to read. I remember the first one he gave was “Manon Lescaut”.
— Not the best reading for a child. Have your parents seen it?
“They understood that Andrei would not teach bad things. He treated me like a gentleman. Our parents, of course, didn’t make any plans for us. Andrey had some of his own youth novels... When I was learning to cook, I let him try it. He praised it, even though it wasn't that tasty. I felt good with him. I think that's when our love began.
Nevertheless, Marianna married another man, and Rostotsky’s first wife was actress Marina Yakovleva. It seemed that childhood had passed and life had separated them.
“We began to communicate less, I went to college, fell in love, invited him to my wedding, but he didn’t come. He referred to being busy. Through his mother, actress Nina Menshikova, I gave the invitation. She later told me that, having heard about my marriage, Andrei calmly said: “Well, so be it. We will be together in five years anyway.” But this happened much earlier. Very quickly, after two or three months, I became disillusioned with my marriage and got divorced. I haven’t met Andrey all this time. When we met, we were very happy with each other. We went to him, he cooked something delicious, and we talked until the morning. The next day we talked again until the morning and realized that we were good together. Then we went to rest. Formally, he was still married, but already lived with his parents... I always felt like the only woman in his life. When our romance began, we ourselves were so surprised that we even hid it from our parents, from everyone in general.
— Were you afraid to jinx it?
- Yes, I believe that when someone else is initiated into a relationship between two people, it is destroyed. But we didn’t want to destroy it.
My husband wanted me to work less
In the acting house, Marianne found not only a husband: her acquaintance with filmmakers also influenced her choice of profession.
“My parents predicted a different career for me. As a child, I studied at a mathematics school and was planning to enter the Physics and Technology Institute. But communication with Stanislav Iosifovich Rostotsky could not pass without leaving a trace.
Marianna Rostotskaya received the profession of film critic and defended her dissertation. Now she teaches at VGIK.
- Rostotsky jokingly called himself a house builder... - He wanted me to work less. But I came to this myself. Because when you cook dinner, and your husband comes and says: “Oh, how delicious, how great - your wife is at home!”, it’s nice. It was a drug for me. This is how he kept me at home.
When I wrote my dissertation, Andrei looked at it rather sadly. There are papers all over the room. He even made me a special closet so that I could put all my notebooks there.
- Have you come to defense?
- No, I came for the buffet. I can't say that he was happy that I did my dissertation. Andrey was not enthusiastic about my professional achievements; he wanted me to be a wife and mother. He himself was sensitive to the house. And that’s why he demanded the same from me. All the furniture in our apartment was made by him. True, while he was making it, we lived in the same room for several years, and there was a workbench in the other. Andrey said that this furniture has a special energy. I also couldn’t buy processed foods for dinner. It is very important to have homemade food in the house. Dinner together turned into a ritual. We could be silent, but it was communication. This was also the case with the Rostotskys. I always liked the patriarchy of this family. Everyone gathered around the table and had conversations. I think our similar upbringing solved many of our problems.
For the New Year, my husband wrote me a poem with a dedication to Marianna the boss: “Put on some warm slippers, pour some hot coffee, stay at home, honey, otherwise all the work, the dacha, the institute... you have a husband, in the end -the end? Here!"
Andrey openly showed emotions. I always knew what he liked and what he didn’t. I felt at ease about this. If he had a downtime at work, he said: “You are completely free.” “It’s clear,” I joked, “there will be no salary this month!” I never entered into conflict. Andrey thought I was patient. He said: “Only Maryana can live with me!” Gradually, the controversy over my employment at VGIK subsided. And now I live only for work.
“Is it because of her that you decided to give birth only after five years of marriage?”
- Yes. But Andrei really wanted a child. He immediately forbade me to work and bought me the best products. After Olya was born, I lived in the country. There was a cow there, whose milk I fed on. One day she fell ill and her husband cured her. I gave her a massage. The neighbor, the owner of the cow, still remembers this story with tears. Andrey had very skillful hands and medical abilities. We had finch parrots, one of them broke its wing, and Andrei made him a tiny splint. When Olya got sick, Andrei went to bed with her, and in the morning her daughter woke up healthy. There was some kind of healing energy in it.
Andrey fell, and his colleagues in the film fled
— I can imagine how worried you must have been when Rostotsky risked his life on the set...
“I wasn’t afraid when my husband performed stunts. I saw how seriously he prepared them. Andrey was not prone to adventures - for all his passion and desire to do work that involved risk. He didn't do anything rash. He was very reasonable and did not tolerate it when a person did something in a fit of emotion. They said that he died while reaching for a flower. Not true! His death is fate, not the result of frivolity.
In “Squadron” Denis Davydov says: “I am eternal!” I always remembered these words. Only his friends know that Andrei was very afraid of heights. And yet, it was high-altitude stunts that he loved: overcoming fear. I am sure that this is how strong people are formed. Andrey created himself, worked seriously on himself. Once, on the set of Oleg Fomin’s film, he descended from a high-rise building on Barrikadnaya on a rope - they did six takes. He was asked to remove the seventh, but the husband said: “That’s enough!” He always had intuition. If he said that there was no need to film anymore, then life later confirmed this. After this shooting, Andrei came late and said: “I didn’t understand, I risked my life, and here everyone is sleeping! Well, get up, set the table, and we’ll drink champagne!” But when he told me about this trick, I shook for a long time.
And yet, intuition and luck betrayed the actor. Last year, Rostotsky filmed a film near Sochi. On May 5, he and his colleagues went to the “Maiden Tears” waterfall. See where to film the next scenes. And he broke down...
“This place is called that for a reason—people die there every year.” But no one told Andrey about this. The waterfall has so-called living stones, which look stable in appearance. When you step on them, they collapse. The husband's companions heard his cry. They saw that Andrei was flying with his arms and legs outstretched. He remained a professional until the last second, trying to cling to something. When this happened, everyone ran away in fear. And only the driver boy was not afraid to pull Andrei out of the water. He performed artificial respiration on his husband, set his ribs, and Andrei started breathing. The doctors were surprised how he managed to live with terrible injuries for almost a day. The doctors did everything they could. My friends didn’t know how to tell me about the tragedy. When they all arrived at half past five in the morning, I no longer needed to explain anything... Andrei’s friends found words that brought me back to life. Even now it’s as if they were carrying me in their arms, surrounded me with attention and care. The main thing that remains after Andrei is friends.
