Alexey Yagudin - biography, family and personal life of the Olympic champion in figure skating

One of the brightest and strongest couples in the world of sports - Alexey Yagudin and Tatyana Totmyanina - were legally married in Krasnoyarsk. The newlyweds noted that they never wanted a lavish wedding. They have been together for many years, raising two daughters Elizaveta and Michelle, and they chose Krasnoyarsk because this city has long become home to Yagudin.

Skaters signed their signatures at the House of Family Celebrations

Olympic champions, figure skaters Alexey Yagudin and Tatyana Totmyanina came to Krasnoyarsk for a few days on tour. In our city on the evening of February 22, they took part in the ice show “Favorite films about the main thing.”

And in the afternoon the couple came to the Family Celebration House, which is located in the very center of Krasnoyarsk, to... get married! They have been asking questions about the wedding for several years now. After all, Alexey and Tatyana have been together for more than 10 years and are raising two daughters, Elizaveta and Michelle. By the way, the girls are now vacationing in France with their grandmother.

For such a special event, Tanya chose a modest, stylish blue dress. She also didn’t bother too much with her hair: she looked great even with her blonde curls.

The couple invited their ice show colleagues to the ceremony, including, of course, Ilya Averbukh and their Krasnoyarsk friends. The governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Viktor Tolokonsky, the regional Minister of Sports Sergei Alekseev, the General Director of the Executive Directorate of the Winter Universiade 2019 Maxim Urazov, etc. also congratulated the bride and groom.

The fact is that Alexey Yagudin has been an ambassador of student games for several years, and during the preparation for the Winter Universiade 2019, the figure skater very often came to Krasnoyarsk and managed to fall in love with the city on the Yenisei.

“It is symbolic that your wedding took place here,” Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Viktor Tolokonsky congratulated the star couple. - I wish you inexhaustible love and a sense of joy. Be happy!"

“We pronounce you husband and wife!”

Why did the skaters choose Krasnoyarsk for their wedding? Yagudin answered this question:

“It was a common decision. Tanya knows how often I visit Krasnoyarsk. Despite the fact that I adore Moscow and cannot imagine my life without it, I also adore Krasnoyarsk. This city has become much closer to me than my native St. Petersburg. And we decided that Krasnoyarsk is the city where we would like to register our relationship. The fact that we are here today is the merit of the Universiade, which will take place in 2020, and the evening when I was offered to take part in this campaign and help Krasnoyarsk become the capital. All this became one of the links in the chain that led us today to the decision to become husband and wife.”

By the way, Tanya, even after the stamp in her passport, decided not to take her husband’s last name. The figure skater once again emphasized that a marriage certificate is not that important.

The talented figure skater Alexei Yagudin blew up show business and the world of figure skating with his performances. But he is not only a figure skater, but also a loving father and caring husband. A true role model. But as often happens, the talented guy did not stop at one achievement, adding a couple more interesting activities to his artillery. After finishing his sports career, Alexey began to study music and even tries himself in the theater. While playing sports, Alexey received many injuries, which later greatly affected the man’s health and now, despite successful operations, Yagudin is not going to return to big-time sports.

Height, weight, age. How old is Alexey Yagudin

Of course, the handsome athlete always keeps himself in shape. It is simply impossible for figure skaters to gain weight; constant training and emotional stress take their toll. Yagudin’s fans are very interested in details from Alexey’s life about his height, weight, age. How old is Alexey Yagudin also remains a frequently asked question. The skater was born on March 18, 1980, and is currently 37 years old. Alexey’s parameters are ideal, namely height 180 and weight 70 kilograms. And despite the fact that the man left big sport, his appearance continues to be at its best.

Early years, childhood and family of Alexei Yagudin

Alexey Yagudin was born on March 18, 1980 in St. Petersburg. His father left the family early, and therefore his mother was always involved in raising the child. It was she who first brought the future champion to the ice skating rink. The reason for this was quite banal - sport was the best way to improve the fragile health of a child and strengthen his immunity.

Perhaps it is for this reason that our today’s hero did not take sports seriously for a long time. He regularly attended classes, but in his heart he cherished a dream of becoming a driver... a driver. As a child, Alexey dreamed of driving a truck or, at worst, a regular bus. However, fate decreed otherwise. And it’s unlikely that Yagudin ever had to regret it.

Alexey Yagudin is a multiple Olympic champion in figure skating. At the age of twelve, our today's hero ended up in a group with the famous teacher Alexei Mishin. While studying with him, the young guy managed to achieve serious success in sports for the first time, and also become one of the best athletes in Russia.

Already at the age of thirteen, Yagudin became fourth at the Junior World Championships. After this, two years later, the young Russian managed to win this championship. In parallel with this, he achieved good results in other competitions. In the same 1995/1996 season, our today’s hero managed to become a bronze medalist at the Russian Championship, and a year later, climb the podium another step up. From that moment on, they started talking about Alexei Yagudin as the main hope of the Russian figure skating team.

Biography and personal life of Alexey Yagudin

Alexey was born in St. Petersburg. He lost his father quite early, so he was completely entrusted with raising his mother. It was his mother who became the person who opened his window into the future of the great skater. She sent the boy to figure skating because of his poor health. Initially, the guy was very skeptical about this activity and practically did not try.

For a long time he did not even think about such a career and even wanted to become an ordinary driver. But everything changed when the guy got to a new coach, who was able to take him to a new level and make Yagudin a real champion. His leap began at age 12. And in just a few years of intensive training, the guy was able to take a leading position in the field of figure skating.

His expressive and bright performances were very much loved by the public, which is why when Yagudin decided to leave the big sport, all the fans and sports lovers in general took it very painfully and still dream of Alexey returning to the ice.

He is very much loved by his fans and not only; there was a story in his biography when, before a performance, a portrait of Russell Crowe with his autograph was brought to his dressing room, which meant that Crowe himself was a fan of Yagudin, and he expressed his approval and gratitude to him.

When Yagudin left the sport, he still did not end his career, did not become a homebody, now he periodically takes part in various shows on ice, such as “Ice Age”, “Ice and Fire”.

Also, not so long ago, a man discovered his musical talent and recorded a couple of musical compositions with Victoria Daineko. Now Yagudin is trying himself in new roles and trying to find his place in the sun.

The biography and personal life of Alexei Yagudin is filled with both ups and downs, which is why it is so interesting to the public. In Alexey’s personal life, everything is no less successful; he has had a beloved woman for many years. Although, annoying journalists are trying to spread information to the world that “Alexey Yagudin and Tatyana Totmyanina have broken up,” but in fact, in 2016 they finally legalized their relationship.

Daughter of Alexei Yagudin - Elizaveta Yagudina

The couple's first daughter was born in November 2009. The girl is very smart and has been accustomed to independence since childhood. Due to the fact that both parents are engaged in their careers, she constantly had to be with nannies, although, of course, loving parents tried to devote the maximum amount of time to the baby. When the couple begins touring, Lisa lives in France with her grandmother, where she went to kindergarten and went to first grade. The daughter of Alexei Yagudin, Elizaveta Yagudina, already knows French well, can easily communicate with peers and convey her thoughts. Daughter of Alexei Yagudin - Michelle Yagudina

In 2020, it became known from the couple’s friends that they were preparing to become parents. Parents say that Lisa was jealous of her sister for a very long time. And although the Yagudins told their daughter in advance that she would have a little sister, having arrived with Michelle in France to visit Lisa, they saw that for a month Lisa behaved very capriciously, jealously, trying to shift all the attention of her parents to herself. But now everything is fine, the kids are friends and love each other very much. The girls differ in character: if the Daughter of Alexei Yagudin, Michelle Yagudina, is very calm, affectionate and cheerful, then Lisa is quick-tempered and fidgety.

Alexei Yagudin's wife - Tatyana Totmyanina

Alexei Yagudin’s wife, Tatyana Totmyanina, also built a sports career as a figure skater and became an Olympic champion, like her husband. Their fates are similar to Alexey’s. Tatyana also did not intend to get on the ice, everything was decided by the girl’s poor health and the doctors’ advice to give Totmyanin to sports. So the future star began to engage in figure skating. Her partner on the ice for a long time was the famous figure skater Maxim Marinin, it was with him that she achieved heights and already occupied a leading position in 1999. And having conquered all the peaks, Tatyana decided to leave the big sport, although she also took part in various shows related to ice skating.

Tatyana and Alexey knew each other from a young age, but began dating in adulthood. And as Tatyana comments, throughout all the years of their marriage, Yagudin invited her to become his wife, and only after 9 years she answered the cherished “yes.”

Some time before the scheduled operation, Totmyanina went on the ice for the first time after the incident. Now Tatyana will have to learn to walk and skate again at the same time. By the way, on February 27, Totmyanina plans to perform on ice as part of Ilya Averbukh’s new show “Ice Stars.” It starts in Bratislava (Slovakia). It’s hard to imagine how much effort Tatiana’s participation in the project will cost.

Repeated world champion, winner of the Olympic Games, international master of sports, figure skater who returned to the ice after a serious injury - all this is Tatyana Totmyanina. This girl won the hearts of not only millions of sports fans, but also melted the ice of one of the public’s favorites, Alexei Yagudin.

Alexey Yagudin's career today

After completing his career, Alexey Yagudin participated in many different show programs and demonstration performances. Due to old injuries, he often experienced pain, and therefore at one point he decided to undergo surgery. Medical intervention yielded results, however, despite this, Alexey never returned to big sport. Alexey Yagudin “The Man in the Iron Mask” Since 2006, the skater has performed on projects of the Russian Channel One - “Stars on Ice”, “ Ice Age", "Ice and Fire". Over the years, his ice partners were Oksana Pushkina, Valeria Lanskaya, Maria Kozhevnikova, Victoria Daineko. With the last of the named celebrities, our today's hero also recorded several joint musical compositions, showing himself in an unfamiliar capacity.

Alexey Yagudin with his wife Tatyana Totmyanina In 2008, Alexey Yagudin also made his debut on the theater stage, playing in the play “President's Vacation.” After this, the former athlete often appeared in enterprise productions, as well as in “ice” performances.

Several times our today's hero also acted in films. The most famous was his role in the TV series “Hot Ice”. At a certain period of time, Alexey Yagudin also began working as a presenter. In this capacity, he worked for some time in the “Professionals Cup” program, and then also began appearing in the educational program “I Want to Know,” for which he recorded short stories.

The athlete still works as an actor and TV presenter today.

Tatyana Totmyanina got on the ice at age 5

Yagudin's future wife was born on November 2, 1981 in Perm. The girl’s parents strongly welcomed Tanya’s desire to play sports, especially since her mother herself had been involved in figure skating before. Totmyanina first appeared on the ice at the age of 5, and her first coach was A. Kislukhin. At first Tatyana was engaged in single skating, but then the coach thought about finding a partner for the girl. This happened in 1995. Thus began the birth of the Marinin-Totmyanin couple. The duet was quite promising, so the young people moved from Perm to St. Petersburg and trained with N. Pavlova. Soon the couple takes a place in the Russian national team. Thus begins the difficult path of athletes to the pinnacle of glory. In 2001, the skaters moved to Chicago, where they trained with Oleg Vasiliev. It was he who led Tatyana and Maxim to victories at various championships and Olympic Games. In 2004, during another training session, Tatyana received a serious injury. She is diagnosed with a concussion and hematoma of varying severity. But her strength and desire to win put the girl on the ice just two weeks after the injury. Since 2006, after winning the Olympic Games, the couple announced the end of their amateur career. After that, Tatyana continued skating, taking part in various ice shows.

“He loves Zhenya, but doesn’t notice me.” How Yagudin left Mishin because of Plushenko

In the 90s, guys from Russia set the pace in men's single skating. Three of them Alexey Urmanov, Alexey Yagudin and Evgeni Plushenko trained with Alexey Mishin. Urmanov was the oldest in the group and was always a little on the sidelines. Yagudin and Plushenko met when Alexei was 13 and Evgeniy was 11 years old. The relationship didn't work out from the very beginning. Plushenko moved to St. Petersburg from Volgograd, and Mishin actively looked after his new student.

“Zhenya and his mother lived in my two-room apartment,” recalls Alexei Mishin in his autobiography “What Ice Is Silent About.” “My sister’s husband Vasily, himself a former high-class skier, brought food to their apartment: soup in a container, cutlets in a pan, compote.” Mishin's other students did not share his sympathy for Plushenko. Yagudin was the most worried. It so happened that in the group he always felt like the third wheel. First he fought for the coach’s attention with Urmanov, then with Plushenko.

RIA News

“The feeling of jealousy towards Evgeniy created in Lesha an almost imperceptible mistrust of my actions and decisions,” says Mishin. - Never in all the time I worked with them did I ever have any thoughts of drowning Yagudin for the sake of Plushenko. Since two of my athletes were competing for the Olympic ticket to Nagano, I was given the opportunity to decide which of them should go. The then president of the Figure Skating Federation, Valentin Piseev, unequivocally spoke out in favor of Zhenya’s candidacy. But I decided: let the one who wins the European Championship go to the Games.”

During the European Championship, Yagudin's relationship with the coach completely fell apart. Mishin considered Alexei undisciplined and openly discussed this with his colleagues, tried to control every movement and constantly cited the more predictable and obedient Evgeni as an example. It got to the point that, receiving congratulations from one of the judges on Yagudin’s victory and Plushenko’s silver, Mishin regretted that everything had turned out that way, and not the other way around. And the matter, of course, is not only about the Euro 98 medals. Mishin simply understood that at the Games in Nagano he and Yagudin would again have to tolerate each other.

Despite all the difficulties in their relationship, Mishin and Yagudin went to Japan for victory. But right before the free program, Alexey fell ill, disrupted several important elements and ended up in a disappointing fifth place.

Getty Images

“Yagudin was always characterized by youthful bravado and feigned negligence,” writes Mishin. — A striking example: at the control in the Olympic village of Nagano, his suitcase is opened, and there, hugging his skates, are two bottles of vodka.

Sometimes this bravado got in his way. In Nagano he could have been on the podium. But after an excellent performance in the short program, he took a shower and sat down on the podium to watch the competition right under the ventilation pipe. I tell him: “Change your seat!” Artur Dmitriev comes up and says: “Lesha, change your seat.” I didn't. As a result, the next day the temperature was 40 degrees, the free exercise didn’t work out, I fell from the quad. Although at that time he was objectively stronger than Candeloro, who took third place. It's a shame..."

For Yagudin, the most vivid memory of the first Olympics was loneliness in the “kiss and edge”.

“Sitting next to me after the free program, Alexey Nikolaevich did not say a word to me. When the scores appeared on the scoreboard, he left, leaving me alone with my feelings. I pretended not to notice his departure. I stood up and greeted the audience, although everything was boiling inside me. Not having a coach made me feel uneasy. I knew he was angry with me for getting sick. But this is funny! All he had to do was sit next to me for a couple of minutes, after which we could leave together.”

While still in Nagano, Yagudin thought very seriously about leaving Mishin. But the World Championships in Minneapolis were ahead, and he decided to be patient. Instead of Yagudin, the Figure Skating Federation began to operate. After the failure in Nagano, officials decided to replace him with Plushenko.

At the World Championships, Russian singles skaters had two quotas. After winning the Games in Nagano, one automatically went to Ilya Kulik. Alexey Yagudin was counting on the second. And in the dispute with the Federation he had supporters. The letter written in his defense at the training rink was signed by everyone except Mishin.

“Later I found out: Mishin wanted Zhenya to become the next world champion. I was confused, I didn’t understand what to do. Nevertheless, the officials decided to send me and Kulik. But chance intervened again. Ilya left amateur sports. This meant that Zhenya and I were going to Minneapolis.”

In America, Yagudin felt very confident. But he lost the qualification to Plushenko, and the free program to the American Todd Eldridge. True, in terms of the sum of all performances he became the first. Plushenko took bronze from America.

He won the Olympics and left Tarasova at the age of 20. Russian men were the best in figure skating

At this time, in Hannover, Ilya Kulik’s former coach Tatyana Tarasova was trying to recover from his decision to leave and was getting ready for a vacation with her family. Yagudin confused all plans with a phone call.

“Lesha called me from the tour,” recalls Tatyana Tarasova in her book “Beauty and the Beast.” - He called with the words: “Tatyana Anatolyevna, take me to your place!” I asked why he was going to leave Alexei Nikolaevich in such an ugly way, having just won the World Championship? Lesha replied: “I was not going to leave Alexei Nikolaevich, I love him very much and consider him my only teacher, even more so, my father. But now our relationship can be said to be broken. Alexey Nikolaevich loves Zhenya and Lesha Urmanov, but hardly notices me. Help me, you have no one now. I won’t disappoint you, I will train a lot, I will try.”

Tarasova took two weeks to think everything over. The current world champion Alexei Yagudin was in limbo all this time. He has already informed Alexei Mishin that they will no longer be able to work together. He had no options other than Tarasova. Tatyana Anatolyevna agreed. Mishin eventually admitted: this decision only benefited everyone.

Getty Images

Although immediately after the breakup I still tried to use administrative resources. When Yagudin told Valentin Piseev that he had decided to try with Tarasova, he heard: “If you try, you won’t win anything else.” This is, of course, an exaggeration. Without victories, Yagudin competed only at Russian championships. Plushenko, on the contrary, has 10.

When starting to work with Yagudin, Tarasova also took risks. And it’s not just about relations with the Federation, which at that time already left much to be desired. Yagudin, even despite the title of world champion, was called a “stool” in coaching circles in Russia. After several months of working together, Tarasova added imagery to this definition, and Yagudin became a “flying stool.”

“It seemed to me that Lesha was an interesting guy, and all my friends called and said, who did I take, I’m crazy, he’s crooked, askew, small, in a word, no good,” Tarasova says in the book. — And over time, “none” began to open up in terms of acting. But first, he worked hard on physics, ran cross-country races in the mountains until he was crazy, and really wanted to please me. Deep down, I was afraid of overtraining him, because I came at him with all my stupid power.”

A couple of years later, before the free program at the World Championships in Vancouver, Yagudin will be given a letter from Russell Crowe, the leading actor in the film “Gladiator,” whom the skater looked up to when he went on the ice. An important sign that Yagudin copes with the role.

A year later, at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Alexey Yagudin will be the first in the history of men's single skating to receive four “6.0” marks for artistry. The image of the mysterious prisoner of the Bastille from the free program “The Man in the Iron Mask” will delight the judges. And the short program of that season - “Winter” - is still considered a standard in terms of choreography and imagery.

Tatyana Totmyanina is ready to give birth to Yagudin three children

They met long before they began to live together. In their youth, neither Tanya nor Alexey could have imagined that they would become husband and wife. As is usual with athletes, especially talented ones, everyone hangs out in the same company, everyone knows each other. It was the same with them: Tanya performed in pairs with Alexei’s friend. In his youth, Yagudin recalls, he looked at Totmyanina not as a girl, but as another figure skater. For him, she was very serious and too immersed in her career. Feelings flared up many years later, when both had already finished performing in big sports and were skating for their own pleasure, taking part in the show. Gradually, the young people began to get closer, and soon Alexey invited Tatyana to move in with him. They did not officially sign, but Tatiana still received a marriage proposal from him. In 2009, Totmyanina decided that she wanted to have children from this man, and not just one, but all three. Literally on New Year's Eve, Tatyana made this wish, and what was her surprise when, after a month and a half, the girl realized that she was pregnant. Daughter Lisa was born in November 2009. Both mother and father were simply happy, although, as Tatyana herself admits, for her the birth of a child became a great test in life. She didn’t know how to do anything, so her daughter was somewhat afraid. It’s good that Alexey and his mother came to her aid. For this, Tatyana is very grateful to both of them. Today she has already gained a wealth of experience, and when she thinks about children, she feels only inner joyful trepidation.

Work in ice projects

Having left big sport, Alexey did not separate himself from it. In 2008, he was invited to star in the series “Hot Ice,” which showed a beautiful love story between two athletes. The film for the first time exposed the ins and outs of big-time sports. In 2010, Yagudin took part in the ice performance “City Lights” directed by Ilya Averbukh.

In Channel One projects, Alexey takes part in the shows “Stars on Ice” and “Ice Age” as a partner of Oksana Pushkina, Victoria Daineko and Valeria Lanskaya. Two more projects were with the participation of Alexey. This is “Ice and Fire” paired with Maria Kozhevnikova and the show “Bolero” with ballerina Kristina Kretova.

Recently, the program “Ice is Melting” with Alexei Yagudin appeared on television screens, in which he interviews Russian athletes. Having replaced his reputation as a figure skater, Yagudin has been acting as a presenter in the “Professional Cup” and “Ice Age” since 2012. In Ice Age. Children" Alexey was invited to host the program with Olympic champion Evgenia Medvedeva.

Currently, Alexey considers his biggest job, besides his main profession, to be raising his daughters.

Yagudin's wife is raising her daughter in strictness

When one child grows in a family, parents try to fulfill all his whims and pamper him. Tatyana and Alexey have a completely different approach: they believe that a child should grow up in constant struggle, i.e. achieve everything yourself, starting from the diapers. According to Tatyana, this is the only way a person grows strong and seasoned. Perhaps Yagudin’s wife internally experiences fear that in the future her daughter may be faced with the problem of making her own decisions. This was the case with Tatyana herself, who lived with her mother for 27 years, and when she died tragically, she experienced shock and forever acquired the fear of loneliness. By this she explains that the child is mainly cared for by the nanny. This is how Lisa learns to live independently and enjoy communicating with her parents when they come home in the evening. Tatyana is sure that a child should not be an object of adoration. Love - yes, but you shouldn’t give yourself completely to a little bundle. Life should not change with the appearance of a baby in the house, because both mom and dad are mature individuals with their own needs, desires, and emotions. Everyone in a family should be equal. At the same time, Tatyana says that if someone offered her a choice of family or career, she would definitely choose the first option.

Tatyana Totmyanina is a Russian figure skater, multiple champion of world and European championships, who in 2006, together with, managed to climb to the highest step of the Olympic Games podium.

Tatyana was born in the northern city of Perm, where the child spent her childhood. The girl’s health was not good, so doctors advised her parents to send Tanya to a sports section. And since the future champion’s mother dreamed of becoming a figure skater as a child, her daughter was enrolled in a figure skating group.

Already at the age of 4, Totmyanina started skating and learned the basics and intricacies of this sport. For a long time, Tatyana skated alone, and the girl’s choreographic education was supervised by a former ballerina of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater.

At the age of 14, Tatyana Totmyanina first met Maxim Marinin. This acquaintance occurred at junior competitions in 1995. Soon the skaters were already dancing in pairs, and a year later they finally moved to a stronger coach, Natalya Pavlova, at the Yubileiny Sports Palace in St. Petersburg. Thus began the sports biography of the future champion.

Figure skating

Under the leadership of this mentor, the guys settled in the top ten athletes in the world, but later they wanted to change their coach. The choice of Tatyana and Maxim fell on, but due to the scandal that arose with Pavlova, the transition did not take place. Then Totmyanina and Marinin leave for the USA to visit another famous mentor -. With him, the couple opened up and showed the maximum of their capabilities.

First, they conquer the European Championship. It is interesting that before the end of their professional careers, the skaters never lost first place in these competitions to anyone. Gradually, gold medals from the Russian Championship, the World Championship, and the Grand Prix stages fell into the collection of awards. And as the cherry on the cake in a series of victories, in 2006, at the XX Olympic Winter Games in Turin, Tatyana Totmyanina became an Olympic champion.

After the Olympics, the athletes took a time out, hoping to return to the sport later, but then, for various reasons, did not take part in the competition.

Even when she was an amateur figure skater, Tatyana Totmyanina performed in ice shows, went on tour, and took part in performances on ice. And in 2007, the girl was first invited to the popular television project of Channel One of Russian television, Ice Age.

In the first season, the singer became Tatyana's partner, and later Tatyana danced with the TV presenter, actors and.

In the next season, which started on October 1, 2020, Totmyanina’s partner and ward turned out to be the star of a popular sports television series.

It is curious that Tatyana competed not only with her ice rink partner Maxim Marinin, but also with the honored coach Oleg Vasiliev, thanks to whom she became famous throughout the world.

In 2007, the name of Tatyana Totmyanina and Maxim Marinin was involved in a scandal that erupted after the couple refused to participate in the Stradivarius Golden Ice show.

The organizers of the project and Plushenko himself stated that the skaters first signed a contract and then went to the Ice Symphony. Eugene's representatives even threatened to sue. But Tatyana and Maxim replied that they left because the organizers did not fulfill a number of conditions, and before leaving, a compromise was reached. In addition, the participants in the discord were not going to wash their dirty laundry in public. As a result, no legal proceedings followed.

After finishing his sports career[ | ]

In the “Stars on Ice” show and at professional tournaments, Alexey performed through pain, constantly taking strong painkillers. Nevertheless, he became a professional world champion twice. Participated in many shows and demonstrations. Already as a professional, he competed under the new ISU judging system twice at the Japan Open Figure Skating Team Competition[1].

In 2007, Yagudin underwent surgery to replace his right hip joint. After this, encouraged by the lack of pain, Alexey told the press that he wanted to return to amateur sports[2]. However, these plans were not destined to come true. In the process of preparing for his return, Yagudin encountered new injuries; at a performance in Germany, he was unable to finish his performance and was taken off the ice[3]. After this, Alexey gave up his dream of continuing his amateur career[4].

Even before the operation, Alexey Yagudin returned from the USA, where he had lived for the last seven years, to Russia and settled in his native St. Petersburg.

Personal life

When Tatyana Totmyanina moved to the United States and trained with Oleg Vasiliev, a love relationship began between her and her mentor. It was reported that the lovers, despite the 20-year age difference, were even going to get married, but in the end this wedding did not take place.

Then the athlete’s personal life attracted attention with a long and difficult romance with the Olympic champion in figure skating. Alexey is a friend of Tatiana’s ice partner, so the young people saw each other often, then became close, and soon Yagudin looked at the miniature figure skater with different eyes. By the way, Tanya’s height is 161 cm.

The couple celebrated New Year 2009 in a nightclub. That night Alexey proposed marriage to his beloved. And he gave me a ring, specially ordered in the USA, in February.

The young people spent a long time getting used to each other. Both formed ambitions and plans. There were practically no quarrels in the relationship, but at the same time Lesha left the girl “to nowhere” several times. As the skater himself later admitted, he was afraid of losing his loneliness. In addition, Tatyana was thinking about children, but Alexey was not ready for them.

After Tatiana’s mother died in a car accident, everything changed. She was then carrying her first child and was going crazy with grief. Alexey turned out to be the most reliable support for the girl in this terrible life situation. When the daughter was born, the man took everything into his own hands: he swaddled Lisa himself, bathed her, and changed her clothes.

And six years later, a second girl appeared in the family, named Michelle. It is noteworthy that Alexey insisted on a second child: the young father wanted another girl. The second daughter was born premature. Tatyana and Michelle spent three weeks in intensive care. For the first six days, the girl could not breathe on her own. The doctors refused to give guarantees and tell Alexei any details. But in the end everything worked out.

Less than six months after the birth of the second baby, Yagudin signed with Totmyanina, and now they are officially called husband and wife. The future spouses got married in Krasnoyarsk, where the tour took place. Tatyana decided not to take Alexey’s last name so as not to change many documents.

Now the couple live in two countries: Russia and France. The couple purchased a house in France a long time ago, even before the birth of their first daughter. Lisa goes to school there. Tatyana and Alexey shared in an interview that they care about the future of their children and want to give the girls a good education.

At first, Lisa had a hard time at the French school, but the girl’s classmates helped her, and now the little girl has French girlfriends. The parents decided to keep up with the child and also learn French in order to understand their daughter, so they are learning the first basics with a tutor.

Tatyana Totmyanina now

Tatyana has not left the ice stage and continues to delight fans with her performances in performances on ice. The “Together and Forever” tour of Russia, organized by Ilya Averbukh, recently came to an end.

The other day, Tatyana’s husband shocked the couple’s fans. He posted a photo on Instagram, where part of Alexei’s face was bandaged. And next to it I added a photo of a leg with stitches. It turned out that Lesha almost went blind due to frontal sinusitis. And the leg belongs to Tatiana. The figure skater landed unsuccessfully during her performance and broke her leg in front of numerous spectators. She underwent four operations.

Alexey, in the caption to the frame, said that he and Tatyana “met the week as a family.”

By the way, Tatyana Totmyanina also has an account on Instagram, where she shares pictures and videos from performances with subscribers.
