Childhood
The actress’s childhood cannot be called happy. The first years of Ekaterina Raikina's life were overshadowed by the war. She was forced to spend several years in evacuation in Tashkent, where she was in the care of a woman hired by her parents. Katya has terrible memories of this time, since the nanny fed her poorly and did not take care of her at all.
After the war, the grandmother was entrusted with looking after the girl. Catherine saw her parents, who were always missing on tour, for three months a year at best. This did not stop her from having a wonderful relationship with them. Mother and father respected their daughter’s personality, never lectured her or punished her.
Choosing a life path
Ekaterina Raikina decided to become an actress at the age of 12. It was then that the girl first appeared on the stage of the E. Vakhtangov Theater. Ekaterina made her debut in the play “Les Miserables” directed by Nikolai Akimov. In this production she played young Cosette. Initially it was assumed that this role would be played by another actress, but this girl was unable to take part in the performance.

Ekaterina turned 17 when her family moved to Moscow. After graduating from school, she became a student at the Shchukin School on her first try. It was not easy to study, but it was very interesting. My student years flew by unnoticed.
Polina Raikina
Being immersed in the theatrical atmosphere from birth, Polina Raikina was always drawn to the stage. Well, what other fate could the daughter of Konstantin Raikin have had other than to follow in the footsteps of her legendary father? After all, being born into a family of artists often means you’ve already made your choice... Polina, did you consider any other professions or did you always know that you would continue the acting dynasty? I always wanted to go on stage.
I decided to become an actress when I was probably two years old. Of course, no one tried to dissuade me, but no one encouraged me either. I made the decision to become an actress on my own. My parents raised me in such a way that I made all the important decisions in life myself. They always said: do what you want. In my opinion, this is the only correct manner of behavior with children in general, and even more so with me, because I would not allow anything to be imposed on myself. I have freedom of choice, my parents have an advisory voice. Didn’t your dad help you either with your admission or with your further employment? Didn't help. Yes, I didn’t ask. I dreamed of going to the Moscow Art Theater School, and specifically to Roman Kozak. I wanted this so much that during the exam I could barely utter a few words out of excitement: my voice was trembling, my hands and knees were shaking, and I really didn’t read well. The impression was hopelessly spoiled. But I entered the Shchukin School on the first try. After graduating from college, I honestly showed up in all the theaters, on a general basis. They only took me to the Stanislavsky Theater.
You were probably trying to be completely independent and self-reliant and you didn’t want people to associate you with your father. That's not even the point. I just don't understand why people use cronyism. What's the point of this? If you are a talented person, they will accept you anyway, but if you don’t have talent, then why do you need to be accepted? What will you do on stage next? This is humiliating. The stage is a frontal place, there will be no parents next to you, no one will help you there. And if you extend the pull through your whole life, then yes, you will have roles, but the audience doesn’t have the pull. Well, when you go on stage, for the first seven minutes they will look at you as if you were the daughter of a famous artist, and by the eighth minute you will need to show something to keep them looking. And if you play poorly, the audience will get up and leave. Therefore, it always seemed absolutely logical to me to do everything myself, and not with the goal of proving something to anyone, but to be sure that I was moving in the right direction.
Is this the reason why you didn’t immediately go to work at Satyricon with your father? I'm painfully independent. I wanted to do something myself. Everywhere. But over time, I still accepted some of my father’s offers and was involved in some performances at Satyricon. It’s just that besides this I had my own hectic life. And it doesn’t matter whether this experience was positive or negative, it allowed me to feel like an independent unit in the profession. At some point, this stopped making sense, and then more roles appeared in Satyricon. And not only in the plays that dad staged. Everyone in the theater knows Konstantin Arkadyevich well, and everyone knows that he will never give roles through connections. No one. Here is an example from my mother: he always gave her less roles than she deserves. Well, among the audience there will always be those who will say that you act in plays because you are someone’s relative. Let them talk! There's nothing you can do about it because there are people who like you as an actress and who don't like you. I think I'm one of those actresses that you either really love or you can't stand. I think my personality may seem unpleasant to many.
Konstantin Arkadyevich, it seems, was also quite often compared to his father... Dad is 63 years old, and there are still people who talk about him as the son of the great Raikin. And they will still say about me that I am Raikin’s daughter. You need to stop being sensitive to this, especially since at some point the majority of people begin to treat you with respect.
Polina, they say about your father that he is a fantastic hard worker who lives only in the theater. Did you see your dad often as a child, or was he always busy with work? We rarely saw each other. It's not like we haven't seen each other for months. No, this, of course, did not happen. The parents left in the morning and returned late in the evening. Dad never went to parent-teacher conferences, and mom was probably only there a couple of times. Nobody helped me do my homework. Since early childhood, I was often left alone at home. My mother was an excellent student, and she always lamented that I was doing worse than I could. Everyone knew that if I could even lay my finger on it, I would do well in all subjects, including algebra and geometry. And I was only interested in dancing. Somehow it turned out that I skipped the entire 8th grade, and this, of course, reached my parents. And they punished me - they forbade me to go to dances. This was the most serious punishment imaginable. My parents simply didn't know how to deal with me.
It sounds like your teenage years weren't easy? Yes, sure. My poor parents. ( Smiles.)
It was difficult for them.
They were still patient with me. In general, you can’t put pressure on me - I’ll still do it my way. I’m just a person who cannot be prohibited from doing anything - I always do what I want, and there is no way to influence me. Although sometimes I am soft and flexible. Despite the fact that we have such a turbulent Italian family (we argue so much that people from the outside might think that we are arguing when we just talk
), we always understand each other very well.
How did your parents react to your decision to live separately? I came and said that I had rented an apartment and was moving in four days. Of course, my parents calmly let me go. Mom, however, shed her share of maternal tears, although she understood that it was right. And dad actually said that this was an excellent decision. I have wise parents, although very emotional.
How did dad react when you started having boyfriends? It seems to me that he was the last to know about everything. Although, perhaps, he knew about something, but he delicately pretended that he was not in the know. Dad was never strict towards me, I can’t even imagine him saying anything to me about this. It’s for me to be with this person, not for him.
Polina, are you in love? I am a very thorough, serious and outdated girl in this matter: if I fall in love, it’s for a long time. It's hard to confuse me here. I don't understand how people can fall in love at first sight. I have to know a person for several years and only then will I fall in love with him. Human intimacy is important to me, and until it is achieved, nothing can work out for us. A person must first become my friend.
Nothing is known about your personal life... I wouldn’t like to talk about it. I'm not married yet and I don't have children. But like all women, I plan to get married and have a child. Of course, I wouldn’t want to slow down just yet; I don’t want my children to interfere with my development in my profession. But I understand that at some point I will need to pull myself together and give up something for the sake of a child... At least one. Many actresses postpone having children while everything is going well in their careers. But this is very dangerous. When there are fewer roles, it is usually too late to have children.
You played an older role - Arkadina in the play "The Seagull" when you were 20 years old. Were you afraid to take on such serious work? Of course it was very scary. Yuri Butusov, the director of the play, saw me on the stage of the theater and decided to try it. At first it was generally unclear who exactly I would play in this production. I was approved for the role only after several months of auditions and rehearsals.
Polina, with such a busy theater, is there any time left for filming? Theater comes first for me, and cinema is a pleasant addition. And if the role seems worthy to me, if the shooting does not coincide in time with my theatrical activities, then I always agree. Roles are offered to me rarely, but accurately. I'm not ashamed of any of them. A couple of times I refused entertainment series because it wasn’t my thing. Well, then, I don’t need the unlimited popularity that “people from TV” get: they will start recognizing you on the street, and when you go on stage in the theater, they will say that you are the one who plays in such and such a series. Popularity in narrow circles is enough for me. ( Smiles.

Bright roles
Continuing to talk about Ekaterina Arkadyevna Raikina’s participation in films, it is necessary to mention that in 1968 the film “Sofya Perovskaya” directed by Leo Arnstam was presented to the audience. This picture tells the story of a Russian revolutionary who was part of the underground organization “People's Will”. The woman took part in the assassination attempt on Emperor Alexander II, as a result of which she was sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out.

The role of Hesi attracted public attention to Ekaterina Raikina. The biography and personal life of the actress began to arouse interest among viewers. Participation in another film on a revolutionary theme helped to consolidate the success of Arkady Raikin’s daughter. Tape “... And May Again!” was presented to the audience in 1968. This film is interesting because it became the debut for Nikolai Karachentsov. The film tells about the work of a revolutionary printing house under conditions of police surveillance.
Teleplays
Ekaterina appeared in several famous television performances of the E. Vakhtangov Theater. For example, the actress embodied the image of Sophia in the comedy production “Ladies and Hussars.” In “Princess Turandot,” the daughter of Arkady Raikin convincingly played the slave Zelima. She also took part in the film adaptation of the play “Millionairess” by Bernard Shaw. Catherine got the role of Miss Smith. Raikina can also be seen in the social drama “The Situation”, where she played Zinaida.
The eighties were successful for the actress. She brilliantly played the main character's servant in the television play "Antony and Cleopatra." Then Catherine embodied the image of Doña Ines in the film adaptation of “Pious Martha”. Thanks to this production, Nikolai Karachentsov, Emmanuil Vitorgan, Margarita Terekhova, and Svetlana Toma attracted the attention of the audience.
"Women's Club"
Ekaterina Raikina played one of her most famous roles in the comedy “Women’s Club,” presented to the audience in 1987. The audience's attention is focused on the story of pensioner Maya Dmitrievna.
A woman does everything possible to escape boredom and loneliness. She acts as an extra, creates a women's club, and has fun with her friends. Every day Maya Dmitrievna begins a new life, so every day turns into an amazing adventure for her.
First husband
Of course, viewers are interested not only in the creative achievements of Ekaterina Raikina. The star's personal life also attracts public attention. The daughter of Arkady Raikin got married for the first time at the age of 19. This happened when she was still studying in her third year at the Shchukin School.
Catherine's chosen one was the charming and attractive aspiring actor Mikhail Derzhavin. The girl fell in love with this handsome man at first sight, her feelings were mutual. Mikhail was worried about whether Catherine’s family would accept him. The young man’s worries were in vain. Arkady Raikin and his wife reacted favorably to their daughter’s choice.
Derzhavin began working at the Lenin Komsomol Theater. Catherine got a job at the E. Vakhtangov Theater. The couple began to spend little time together and began to move away from each other.
Second husband
In her youth, Ekaterina Raikina was an enthusiastic person. Perhaps this was the main reason why her first marriage broke up. At the E. Vakhtangov Theater, the actress met the young, handsome and talented actor Yuri Yakovlev. Catherine almost immediately lost her head. She told Mikhail Derzhavin about everything, who understood her and calmly agreed to the divorce. Having parted without scandals, the former spouses were able to maintain friendly relations for many years.

At the time of meeting the daughter of Arkady Raikin, Yuri was also married. Kira Machulskaya, his wife, was expecting a child. This fact did not stop Yakovlev from leaving the family. He fell in love with Catherine and could not resist his feelings. Raikina and Yakovlev got married in 1961. In the same year, his first wife Kira Machulskaya gave birth to a girl, who was named Alena.
The common child of Raikina and Yakovlev was also born in 1961. It was decided to name the boy Alexey. Unfortunately, the birth of a son did not make this union strong. The marriage of Yuri and Catherine lasted only three years. Raikina was ready to forgive her husband a lot, but she was not going to put up with his passion for alcoholic beverages. One day, Ekaterina and her friend almost died because Yuri allowed himself to drink while driving. A photo of Ekaterina Raikina with her second husband can be seen above.
Marriage to a famous womanizer
At the time when Elena came to Satyricon, Konstantin Raikin was not the director of the theater, he served as an actor like everyone else. The young man, who was famous as the most loving artist, instantly switched to a young girl.
Butenko did not take his attentions seriously for a long time , realizing that he had several marriages and many novels behind him. But eight months later, the girl’s heart melted, and she moved to Konstantin.
On March 30, 1988, Elena gave her daughter Polina to her common-law spouse. In the same year, Raikin was appointed head of Satyricon. A few months later, the couple got married, without a loud and pompous wedding. The actress took a double surname and became Butenko-Raikina.
Despite the evil and envious tongues, Elena was able to give her husband so much attention, love and warmth that Konstantin did not even think about other women . The birth of Polina completely turned Raikin's inner world upside down. Famous parents took their daughter with them to the theater, where the girl actually spent her childhood.
Having matured, Polina decided to follow in the footsteps of her parents. The girl studied at the Todes ballet school from an early age. After finishing secondary education, she easily entered the Shchukin Theater Institute. After receiving her diploma, Raikina went to serve in the theater. Stanislavsky, but three years later she moved to Satyricon.
Polina, like her mother, shares her experience and knowledge with students of the Higher School of Art and Design, where she works as an acting teacher. At the same time, Raikina teaches at a school with the dance ensemble of Igor Moiseev. The actress’s creative repertoire includes about 20 cinematic works. Among them: “Everything for you”, “Night Swallows”, “Stalingrad”, “Fizruk”, “90s. Fun and loud." Parents are proud of their daughter, consider her a talented actress and the kindest person.
In 2020, Butenko-Raikina presented the audio play “The Road Goes Away,” based on the book of the same name by A. Ya. Brushtein. The following year, Elena became the producer and screenwriter of a documentary about Pervouralsk, “About Snowflakes and Metal.” Now the creative tandem of Elena and Konstantin lives happily under one roof , continues to be creative, and is looking forward to the appearance of their grandchildren.
Son
Fans wanted to know everything about Ekaterina Raikina: biography, personal life, children - all this often aroused the interest of fans of her work. The star has only one child - son Alexey, born in marriage to Yuri Yakovlev. He was born in October 1961.

Alexei was barely three years old when his parents separated. Catherine decided that she would only harm her son if she tried to save the family for his sake. She made every effort to exclude Yuri from Alexei's life. Father and son began communicating again only 15 years later. Catherine subsequently admitted that she regretted that at one time she had prevented their meetings.
Alexey Yakovlev decided to follow in his parents' footsteps. After graduating from school, the guy entered the Shchukin School on his first try and successfully graduated in 1983. Over the next three years, the young man worked at the M. Ermolova Theater. After the change of artistic director, Alexey was forced to leave. The new artistic director brought his team, and there were no roles for the son of Yakovlev and Raikina.
At first, Alexey made an attempt to create his own theater “Even-Odd”. His partner was actor and director Alexander Ponomarev. The theater lasted only a few years, after which friends were forced to abandon it. Then Alexey worked for some time as a presenter on television. He then completely switched to the real estate business.
Alexey Yakovlev can be seen in films. He played his most famous role in the film “A Million in the Marriage Basket.” In this film, the actor embodied the image of Nicolo.
What are the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Arkady Raikin doing today?
They say that nature rests on the children of celebrities. Sometimes this is true. But in the case of Arkady Raikin, folk wisdom itself “rests.”
Daughter Ekaterina Raikina
Ekaterina Raikina and Nikolai Karachentsov in the film “...And May Again!”
(1968) The eldest daughter of Arkady Isaakovich is 80. Ekaterina Arkadyevna is an Honored Artist of the RSFSR, she played on the stage of the Theater for many years. E. Vakhtangov, acted in films.
Derzhavin’s ex-wife spoke about the last days of the actor’s life. Today it became known that Mikhail Derzhavin died at the age of 82. His ex-wife Nina Budennaya told about the state of the people’s artist for the last few days. It turned out that he was unconscious before the tragedy.
Catherine played her first role at the age of 12 - it was the role of Cosette in the play based on the novel by Victor Hugo “Les Miserables”, and they took a girl because the main performer unexpectedly fell ill. From that very day, the Vakhtangov Theater became a second home for Katya.
After graduating from school, the girl easily entered the Shchukin School, and all the years she combined her studies with acting in the theater. E. Vakhtangov, she began working there when she received her diploma. She also acted in films, but still considered the stage to be her main work.
At the same time, the famous father never used his influence in the theater world to somehow “push” his daughter, to promote her career: in the Raikin family, such behavior was considered dishonest, so Catherine achieved everything herself.
Ekaterina Raikina and Nikolai Karachentsov in the film “Pious Martha” (1980)
Her first husband was actor Mikhail Derzhavin. Katya was only 19 years old at the time, handsome Mikhail was 2 years older, the girl fell head over heels in love with the guy. But only two years passed and the matured Catherine realized: a new love had come. This time, Yuri Yakovlev became her chosen one - they played together in the theater.
Young people, without hesitation, destroyed their previous marriages in order to create a new family. At the same time, Yakovlev left his pregnant wife. In her marriage to Yakovlev, Ekaterina gave birth to a son, Alexei (1961). When the boy was 3 years old, the couple separated: as Catherine admitted, she could no longer tolerate her husband’s constant drunkenness.
Grandson Alexey Yakovlev
Alexey Yakovlev in the film “A Million in the Marriage Basket” (1985)
After his divorce from Ekaterina, Yuri Yakovlev did not communicate with either his ex-wife or his son for a long time. Father and son began communicating only when Alexey turned 17 years old - this was the initiative of the young man.
When receiving his passport, Alexey decided to consult his mother - what surname should he take? And Catherine, without hesitation, said: “Only Yakovlev! It’s easier for Russians to live in our country.” When choosing a future profession, the guy listened to his mother, who saw her son as a historian or philologist. However, the opinion of the famous grandfather turned out to be decisive.
"The Irony of Fate. Continuation"Sequel to Eldar Ryazanov's painting "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!" from director Timur Bekmambetov
He uttered only one phrase: “There is no need to persuade him, he will become an artist anyway. Going to university is just wasting time...”
And so it happened. In 1983, a descendant of famous actors graduated from the Higher Theater School. Shchukin. For several years, Alexey appeared on the stage of the Moscow Theater. M. Ermolova, and then, together with Alexander Ponomarev (actor and director), created his own theater and called it “Even-Odd”.
For some time, Alexey was a TV presenter, and in the 90s he left the profession: difficult times came, he had to survive... Alexey Yuryevich began to engage in real estate, the real estate business captivated him and remains his life’s work to this day.
Alexei's first wife was the queen of operetta Lilia Amarfiy - a very beautiful and talented woman. They did not have children together, but Alexey raised Lilia’s son from her first marriage, Alexander, as his own.
In his second marriage, Alexei Yakovlev had a daughter, Lisa (2003).
Son Konstantin Raikin
Konstantin Raikin in the film “Truffaldino from Bergamo” (1976)
Konstantin Raikin was interested in many things since childhood - he successfully studied at the physics and mathematics school, was fond of gymnastics, not leaving these activities even after a broken nose, which he received after falling from the uneven bars .
After school, Kostya planned to enroll in the Faculty of Biology, without even thinking about a career as an actor. What happened next came as a surprise to him. Konstantin had already been admitted to Leningrad University, and suddenly it occurred to him: why not try his luck? My parents were in Czechoslovakia on tour in those days.
Actress of the Satyricon Theater Polina Shanina died tragically. According to sources, the girl’s body was found this morning under the windows of her house on Novoostankinskaya Street in Moscow.
Without telling anyone, Kostya went to Moscow and literally took the admissions committee of the Shchukin Theater School by storm: he sang, danced, read fables, and all this with such a frantic temperament that they simply could not help but accept him.
After graduating from college, Galina Volchek was already waiting for him at the Sovremennik Theater. Konstantin worked on his stage for 10 years. Then came the Satyricon Theater - at first Konstantin served there as an actor, and after the death of his father, in 1987, he became artistic director.
Raikin Jr. also acted in films - viewers remember, for example, his sparkling character in the film “Truffaldino from Bergamo”.
Konstantin Arkadyevich managed to create a strong family only the third time.
Married to Elena Butenko, he had a daughter, Polina (1988).
Granddaughter Polina Raikina
Polina Raikina in the film “He, She and Me” (2013)
Polina continued the dynasty - she graduated from the Theater Institute named after. Shchukin, for several years she was an actress at the Theater named after. Stanislavsky, then moved to Satyricon.
In addition, she teaches acting at the Higher School of Performing Arts and at the School of the I. Moiseev Dance Ensemble.
Polina also acts in films, and also provides voice acting for feature and animated films.
Acting dynasties have always existed in our country. The Raikin dynasty is one of the clearest proofs that sometimes the power of talent is so great that it is enough for both children and grandchildren.
Perhaps the great-grandchildren of the legendary Arkady Raikin will also become actors and pick up the baton started by their great-grandfather.

Present time
Catherine's father Arkady Raikin never made any effort to help his daughter with her career. The famous actor and comedian considered such behavior unworthy. Catherine is even a little offended by her father. Not so much for the lack of help for herself, but for the indifference to her mother’s career. Actress Ruth Joffe devoted herself to serving her husband, and therefore did not achieve success in her profession. Arkady Raikin never made any attempts to help his wife with this.

Catherine did not need her father's protection. Her career at the E. Vakhtangov Theater developed remarkably. However, the time came when the actress was no longer offered interesting roles. Raikina did not fight and left the stage. Catherine did not achieve much success in films; she practically did not act in the new century.
Already in old age, the daughter of Arkady Raikin again had the opportunity to experience the taste of fame. The woman was offered a role in the production of “Indian Summer” at the Montreal Russian Theater. Raikina was forced to move to Canada for some time. At first she rehearsed with the troupe, then took part in the touring program.
Now Catherine is enjoying a well-deserved rest. This year, the daughter of Arkady Raikin celebrated her 80th birthday. She no longer plans to return to work, although she feels great.
