Childhood

The future movie star was born on April 3, 1938. She was a native Muscovite and the only daughter in a friendly, fairly wealthy and respected family of pop artists. Father, Nikolai Andreevich, “a prince and a nobleman” (according to the actress), was a performer of funny couplets and feuilletons, as well as a tap dancer, performed with the humorous duet “Mironova and Menaker”. Mom, Maria Vdovenko, an extraordinary beauty, was a singer.

The parents often took the baby to their concerts, and in their house they often had such famous personalities as Vadim Kozin, Lydia Ruslanova, Klavdiya Shulzhenko, Arkady Raikin, Viktor Knushevitsky, Isabella Yurieva, Ruzhena Sikora. So the girl grew up in a creative and constructive environment. She learned to sing, dance, read poetry early, attended a music school at Gnesinka to study piano (teacher E.F. Gnesin), and dreamed of becoming an actress.

All friends and acquaintances unanimously said that with her unique appearance there was only one path - to become an artist. Already from the age of 14, many representatives of the stronger sex drowned in the bottomless pools-eyes of the nymphet, followed on her heels, waited near the house and on the landing, causing grumbling from neighbors.

Having received a certificate in 1955, Natasha submitted documents to the Vakhtangov Theater School and the Institute of Cinematography. She successfully passed the exams and entered both universities, despite the huge competition. Having chosen VGIK, the girl enrolled in a course for Moscow Art Theater actors, teachers and spouses Olga Pyzhova and Boris Bibikov.

Childhood and youth

Natalya Nikolaevna Kustinskaya was born in the capital in the spring of 1938. Her parents, although they were not stars of the first magnitude, managed to make their way to the very top. Nikolai Kustinsky was a famous tap dancer. Mom sang on the stage.

The family lived on Malaya Bronnaya and was famous for its hospitality. Their apartment was always noisy from guests whose names the whole country knew. Lydia Ruslanova, Klavdiya Shulzhenko and Isabella Yuryeva - these celebrities were not distant stars for Natalya Kustinskaya, but friends of her parents.

Kustinskaya grew up as a “greenhouse” child who did not need anything. Parents often took their daughter with them to concerts. Natalya was backstage, where her father was preparing for performances, together with Maria Mironova and Alexander Menaker.

The girl adopted all the best from her parents: beauty, good hearing and voice from her mother, artistry and a cheerful disposition from her father. She recited, sang and danced perfectly and without embarrassment. Natasha’s parents took her not to a regular school, but to a ten-year music school named after the Gnessins. She successfully graduated from the piano class.

It seems that the young beauty Kustinskaya had no other choice but to become an artist. She did not resist fate: she easily entered VGIK and the Vakhtangov Theater School. I chose the legendary VGIK. Here Kustinskaya studied at the course of the great Moscow Art Theater actors Olga Pyzhova and Boris Bibikov. In 1961, the certified actress began building her film career.

Carier start

Already during her student years, the actress made her film debut, although students were not allowed to act before receiving their diploma. The dean’s office had to make an exception to the rules at the insistence of film director Grigory Lvovich Roshal, who was looking for an actress for the role in the final part of the cult film trilogy “Walking Through the Torments” called “Gloomy Morning”. He saw Natalia at the institute and immediately appreciated her potential.

The girl got the role of Marusya, a revolutionary who fell in love with officer Vadim Roshchin (played by Nikolai Gritsenko), and found herself on the same stage with such stars as Rufina Nifontova, Nina Veselovskaya, Evgeny Matveev, Nonna Mordyukova. Critics positively assessed her first film work, and she received new film offers.

In the same 1959, she played in the film “Stronger than a Hurricane.” In 1960-1961 she could be seen in the key role of the forester’s daughter Jadvisi in the two-part film adaptation of Yakub Kolas’s work “On the Rostans”. She also embodied the image of the main character Nastya in the film drama “Girl Years,” which was released in 1961.

During the same period, she hoped to play the cook Tosya in the film “Girls” by her husband Yuri Chulyukin. He promised her the role, but in the end gave it to Nadezhda Rumyantseva. According to rumors, the director was jealous of his wife and did not want her popularity. According to the official version, Natalya’s face was considered too “thoroughbred” for the role of a village girl.

To smooth out the situation, Chulyukin offered his wife the role of Anfisa. However, the proud beauty refused to participate in the film. Instead, she went to Sevastopol to film the film Shore Leave, where she brilliantly portrayed Katya, the school friend of the main character of the film Zhenya (Ariadna Shengelaya), adding to the cast of popular performers, which included Lev Prygunov, Vladimir Vysotsky, Vasily Makarov.

In 1962, the actress was invited to play the main role of Tony in the film adaptation of Daniil Granin’s story of the same name “After the Wedding.” Its filming took place in Leningrad.

Fame

Natalia received her first role in 1959. She played Marusya in the film “Walking Through Torment. "Gloomy morning." Then the young actress was noticed and spoke flatteringly about her. But the actress gained real fame after the release of the film “Three Plus Two” in 1963. There Natalya played her namesake. A flood of letters from fans, interviews, and photo shoots began.

In total, the talented actress took part in the filming of more than 20 films. Natalya also participated in understudy work. The actress became what is called a sex symbol of the 60s. Her image could be found in magazines, on posters and postcards. And according to the French magazine “Candide”, Natalya was included in the top ten most beautiful actresses in the world.

But, despite her fame and connections, Natalya was not very lucky professionally. She was not accepted for some roles because she was “too beautiful”; she refused other roles herself. The last film with her participation, “Svetik,” was released in 1989; there the actress played the role of Vera’s mother.

All-Union success

A year later, the comedy “Three Plus Two” was released, which had a fabulous success and made the actress famous. The film told the story of three bachelor friends (Evgeny Zharikov, Andrei Mironov, Gennady Nilov), who came to the sea on vacation as “savages” and discovered that their place on the shore was occupied by two charming girls in swimsuits. They were played by two Natalyas - Kustinskaya and Fateeva.

After the film was released, every day the actress received a lot of letters with declarations of love. And during a visit to Paris, where she presented the painting, her photo appeared on the cover of a glossy magazine with the caption “Soviet Brigitte Bardot.”

Natalia Kustinskaya and Natalia Fateeva

The next film with the star’s participation was released only three years later, in 1965. It was the comedy “Sleeping Lion”, where she got the role of projectionist Natasha, and her colleagues were such screen masters as Konstantin Sorokin, Sergei Filippov, Mikhail Pugovkin, Alexey Smirnov, Tamara Nosova.

There are cases when Kustinskaya lost good roles for various reasons. For example, she had to refuse the offer to star in “Prisoner of the Caucasus” due to the fact that she had already agreed to participate in the romantic film “Zhenya, Zhenechka and Katyusha.” But, having contracted pneumonia before filming, she was unable to play in this film.

In 1966, her husband cast her in a key role – flight attendant Alena – in the comedy melodrama “Royal Regatta”. However, this work of his did not receive the same high praise as “Girls” or the debut film “The Unyielding.”

At the beginning of 1970, the actress played only two main roles - in the films Ten Winters in One Summer and A Spring Tale. In 1973, she could get an interesting role in the film adaptation of F. Dostoevsky’s novel “The Player” by Alexei Batalov. The film director was not indifferent to her and offered her the role, counting on her favor. She did not accept his advances and lost the role.

Natalya Kustinskaya and Leonid Gaidai

The last great success in Natalya’s career was the role of the passion of the hero Mikhail Pugovkin in the film adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s play “Ivan Vasilyevich” entitled “Ivan Vasilyevich changes his profession.” Then there was filming in the TV movie “Crash”, the drama “Trainee”, and the melodrama “Chauffeur for One Flight”. In 1983, she reminded a wide audience of herself by appearing in the third season of the series “Eternal Call” and playing Polina, the daughter of the gendarme officer Lakhnovsky (Oleg Basilashvili).

Stories Eternal Memory

Let us remind you that Natalya Kustinskaya died in Moscow the day before. She died in the Botkin hospital at the age of 75. Doctors at the Botkin Hospital were unable to stabilize the condition of the Soviet TV star

, who fell into a coma after a stroke about a week ago. “The cause of loss of consciousness was a violation of cerebral circulation,” said a representative in medical circles. “Everything possible was done to bring the patient out of the coma.”

Assistant Andrei Aseev looked after the lonely artist. According to him, recently the actress has been very worried about the fact that her old age is passing through illness and absolute obscurity.

. Already bedridden, 74-year-old Kustinskaya ordered a wig from an online store similar to the one she wore in the film “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession.”

Allegedly, longing for past beauty and lost youth literally ate up Kustinskaya

. She often flipped through the program guide with the hope of seeing a film with her participation. The already gloomy mood was only worsened by a painful attitude towards faded beauty. According to the assistant, this circumstance did not allow the actress to get along with any of the nurses. In each of them, Kustinskaya saw a beautiful and young rival. Therefore, only a male assistant was able to get along with the actress.

“I was not a fan of her work. But, of course, I saw films with her. I arrived, at first I tried to see in her the person she was... But I’m a realist, and I had to accept her for who she is now. Nobody got along with her, not even a single assistant! She only accepted me. There were several reasons, but the main one: she had been surrounded by men all her life, she was accustomed to the attention of men, and she simply needed a man to be with her now. Natalya Nikolaevna did not like women. Especially the young and beautiful

“, Life News quotes Andrey Aseev.

According to the assistant, Natalya Kustinskaya felt like a star until the last day of her life

: “She called me with a bell, she didn’t like me to contradict her. She found recipes on the Internet and asked her to cook delicious dishes, but she didn’t eat what she didn’t like. She always told me: “Do you understand that I am a star? Have you ever met actresses in your life? They are nothing in front of me. Here I am – a real star.”

Latest roles

In the mid-1980s, Natalya received an invitation to Munich to film the heartbreaking drama “The Magic Mountain” based on the rather complex work of the same name by Thomas Mann, but she was not allowed to go abroad and even domestic directors stopped inviting her to act. For these troubles, the actress blamed the KGB and Fateeva, who allegedly took revenge on her for her broken marriage with Yegorov (read more about this below in the “Personal Life” section).

In the late 80s, Kustinskaya stopped acting

Then she suffered health problems. First, she broke her leg after unsuccessfully jumping from a height during a performance at the Film Actor's Theater. Then she fell on the steps in the entrance and received a serious skull injury when she was taking her St. Bernard dog for a walk, and he rushed to the exit door. She no longer had major roles.

Personal life of Natalia Kustinskaya

The movie star got married 6 times. For the first time - at the age of 19. Then director Yuri Chulyukin, whom Natalya met at VGIK, became her husband. They did not have children, although both really wanted to become parents. Nevertheless, Natalya was able to get pregnant, but lost the child due to a conflict with Marina Strizhenova. The woman was terribly jealous of Kustinskaya for her husband Oleg and threw an absurd scene of jealousy, which had tragic consequences.

Natalya Kustinskaya and her husband Yuri Chulyukin

During the filming of the film “Three Plus Two”, Zharikov, Mironov and scriptwriter Sergei Mikhalkov could not resist the charms of the green-eyed beauty, who had a magical charm. But their attempts to win her favor were unsuccessful - she remained faithful to her husband. But, as it turned out during the filming of “Royal Regatta,” he had another woman. Having learned about this, the artist immediately left him and did not want to forgive when he tried to bring her back.

A huge number of men dreamed about her, including such celebrities as Vladimir Vysotsky, Innokenty Smoktunovsky, Muslim Magomayev. According to rumors, Brezhnev and even Andropov admired her. In the period 1968-1970. her husband was Vneshtorg employee Oleg Volkov, and in 1969 she met cosmonaut Boris Egorov, at that time the husband and father of the child of her friend Natalya Fateeva.

Natalya Kustinskaya and Boris Egorov

According to legend, Kustitskaya won the heart of the space explorer by playing his favorite composition by Sergei Rachmaninov on the piano – the melodic and fantasy “Elegy”. Soon he declared his love for her, and in January 1970 she gave birth to a son, Dima (according to rumors, not from her husband, but from Borisov). Fateeva, apparently guessing about their romance, also cheated on her husband on the set of the film “Songs of the Sea” in Bucharest. As a result, Egorov broke up with her.

The lovers began to live together. However, Kustinskaya’s husband, Volkov, attempted to commit suicide, and the actress was forced to return to her family. She was torn between passion and a sense of duty. Then Boris showed persistence - he stayed at her apartment for three days, ringing the doorbell every 15 minutes. Oleg was forced to regret and let his wife go.

Natalya Kustinskaya with her son

They were happy together with Egorov for almost 20 years. The man gave his last name to Kustinskaya’s son and raised him as his own. The couple separated in 1989 - the former cosmonaut had a mistress.

Dima grew up as a problem child and started drinking at the age of 13. At the same time, his acting talent showed up early. After his role as Dima Somov in the film “Scarecrow,” Natalya was advised to develop Dima in this direction. But Egorov, who knew the underbelly of the acting profession well, was against it. He insisted that Mitya enter MGIMO as an economist.

Natalya Kustinskaya and her son Dmitry

During his student years, Dmitry met a young lawyer and proposed to her. In 1991 they had a boy. Alas, the grandson of Natalia Kustinskaya was born with hydrocephalus and lived only 7 months. Dima's beloved began to drink, and soon the marriage broke up.

Meanwhile, Natalia’s personal life was developing successfully. Her new chosen one was MGIMO professor Gennady Khromushkin. The movie star's fourth marriage lasted 12 years until his husband died of an infection in 2002.

Natalya Kustinskaya and Gennady Khromushin

During the same period, Kustinskaya also lost her son, who died under strange circumstances. In the last years of his life, Dmitry unsuccessfully tried to set up his business, earned extra money by translating from English and suffered from a feeling of uselessness and uselessness. His new lover Olga - it was her who Natalya blamed for the death of her son for the rest of her life - used drugs and got Dmitry addicted to them. On the eve of his death, the young man quarreled with his mother and went to a party.

Neighbor Vladimir Maslennikov helped the actress find the strength to survive these tragedies. They got married in 2004, but 5 years later he also passed away. Natalya Nikolaevna no longer acted in films, she was ill, suffered from prolonged depression, and abused alcohol.

The last official husband of the star in 2010 was a certain Stas Vanin, who wished to take her last name. A man 30 years younger gained the trust of a 72-year-old and already very sick woman. Her friends intervened in time, and this marriage was dissolved in court in 2012.

Kustinskaya tried to marry her patronage brother

The 74-year-old actress was looking for a panacea for all ills in sex

A luxurious woman, talented actress Natalya KUSTINSKAYA did not live to see her anniversary for several months. In April she would have turned 75. But after a serious injury, Natalya Nikolaevna never got up. In early December, the 74-year-old actress fell into a diabetic coma and did not come out of it. She was not destined to celebrate the round dates of the paintings that brought her popularity. Exactly half a century has passed since the release of the film “Three Plus Two”, the inimitable “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession” has not left the screen for 40 years, and 30 years ago the filming of the television series “Eternal Call” ended. In the last year of her life, Andrei ASEEV, the patronage brother of the Actors Guild, was inseparably next to Kustinskaya. He told Express Gazeta about this period.

- “I’ll get better, Andrey! And you and I will definitely go to the Patriarch’s Ponds. There is a wonderful restaurant there. I really want to get up and live the life I once lived. I will still be in favor! I’ll show everyone what I’m capable of!” - Aseev quotes the words of the actress. — Andrey, how did you meet Natalya Nikolaevna? “I was sent to her for work.” At first Kustinskaya received me warily. I saw how she looked at me with curiosity. At first I brought medicine and left. But one day she fell and her legs fell into the radiator. There was no one nearby. She lay there like that for several hours. I endured incredible pain. Her body became a complete bruise. After this incident, I never left her for a long time. Lived in her apartment. She didn't get out of bed at all. So a year passed. We became friends with her. She hated being called by her first and patronymic names. “Call me Natasha,” Kustinskaya ordered. - I'm always young! Nikolaevna - wow, what officialdom!” I advised her to hire a woman as a nurse, but she refused. “A woman can’t handle me,” she said. “And then, Andrey, I’m not interested in women!” At the same time, Natalya Nikolaevna loved to be talked to about fashion and cooking. She enjoyed watching programs on these topics. But most of all I loved detective stories. I watched them avidly and solved the crime long before the end of the film.

In the 1960s, the French magazine “Candide” included KUSTINSKAYA among the ten most beautiful actresses in the world.

— Did Natalya Nikolaevna foresee her departure? “She didn’t want to put up with fading.” This woman knew how to drive away bad moods. When she learned of the death of one of her colleagues, she would sit in a daze for a while, and then shake herself up and feel a thirst for activity. “Andrey, let’s prepare a new dish,” she said. “Look, what an interesting recipe I found.” With these new impressions, even in food, she tried to renew herself. The monotony was killing her. I can’t imagine how such an emotional woman could lie in bed for so long. It was incredibly difficult. But she pretended that nothing was happening. Even with severe pain, I never canceled pedicures and manicures—the master came home. She only liked her nails to be long and always painted. With me, she could still be left without a wig, but when someone came, she would definitely put it on. Her hair wasn't very good. She said that they were ruined for her on the set. We had some incidents with this wig. She couldn't stand the heat and would take off her wig when a guest left the room. In a hurry, she forgot about him, which surprised the man who five minutes ago saw her differently. Then she started laughing. I wasn't afraid to laugh at myself. By the way, she had an amazing sense of humor.

Natalya Nikolaevna was a woman ardent in love: she was officially married six times, and how many spontaneous relationships happened...

Former men

— Kustinskaya hasn’t been filmed for more than 20 years. How did she live on a meager acting pension? - Natalya didn’t feel the need. But living with her demands is not easy even for a wealthy person. She loved to dress smartly and eat delicious food. And she succeeded! Money loved her. They flowed towards her like a river. Then she pinned me to her and realized that she needed to feed me. Then she promoted everyone: TV channels, glossy magazines, and newspapers. Andrei Malakhov filmed the program at her home. She collected 60 thousand from this program, and was paid 30 thousand for an interview with a glossy magazine. Even from newspapermen she managed to shake off five to seven thousand. Every year, on Mitya’s son’s birthday, a man came from Kristina Orbakaite (with whom Mitya starred in the film “Scarecrow”) and left a plump envelope with money.

- Natalya Nikolaevna boldly talked about her personal life... - Shortly before her death, she admitted that for some reason she was disingenuous in front of journalists when she called cosmonaut Boris Egorov the most desirable man in her life. According to her, the only person she loved and from whom she wanted to give birth was diplomat Oleg Volkov. She gave birth to Mitya from him. “Oleg was not a star,” Natalya shared. “But he was close to me in spirit.” I felt good with him both at home and in bed. And Egorov and I stopped loving each other. He turned out to be a dishonest person."

The actress's guardian Andrei ASEEV cared for the seriously ill Natalya Nikolaevna, had intimate conversations with her, but did not allow her anything unnecessary

During her marriage to film director Yuri Chulyukin, she had to constantly have abortions. She named an amazing figure, but I won’t voice it. It's really scary. Chulyukin's parents behaved strangely. The couple lived for almost ten years, and they all said that they didn’t need diapers in the apartment! “In the Bolshoi Theater, all the ballerinas have abortions,” Chulyukin’s mother argued, “and why are you better?” In the end, Natasha felt that this would end badly and left. But she never admitted which of them cheated. For her, men's infidelities were a tragedy, a betrayal, and she considered her adulteries to be innocent flirtations. She and I often argued about this. “Andrey,” she said, “if I stopped loving a person, then he’s gone!” She was so categorical only with her lovers. She treated others with understanding. She had a nanny, Marusya. This woman introduced her to the church. And Natasha carried throughout her life pity for the disadvantaged, those offended by fate, and inferior people. But she had no pity for “yesterday’s” men. True, she had moments when she called her “ex.” She had long telephone conversations with Menshov and Batalov. “Come on,” she said and smiled slyly, “let’s call Volodya Menshov today.” After an hour-long conversation with him, she admitted that Vera Alentova couldn’t stand her. She had creative conversations with Batalov. She liked to praise him for his role as Gosha in the film “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears.” She was amused by Alexei Vladimirovich’s reaction to this: “But there was nothing to play there! Just think, he portrayed a locksmith in love.”

I was waiting for love

— Didn’t her former admirers offer her to play even a tiny role? “I can never play a saleswoman or a cleaning lady,” these are her words. She didn't want small roles. Until recently I hoped to get the main role. “I'm always a star! I’m always a winner,” Natasha lived with these words until the last minute. Even lying in bed she remained very energetic. One day an ambulance came to her. The doctor had the imprudence to say that she was overweight. “What are you saying?!” - she got excited. “I always weigh 60 kilograms!” How she shouted at them! —Which of her colleagues did she consider truly talented actors? - Nobody! She watched TV shows and spat, saying that everyone around was mediocrity. For her, her idols were Brigitte Bardot and Elizabeth Taylor. Among our people, she spoke well of Mordyukova. But it’s more likely not out of professional interest. They loved to wash the bones of men. Natalya missed her and sympathized that Nonna’s first husband, Vyacheslav Tikhonov, was absolutely phlegmatic in bed. “That’s why,” said Kustinskaya, “Nonna abandoned her Slava.” — Did Natalya Nikolaevna have any forbidden topics of conversation? — She avoided conversations about her son. The only thing was that she asked to be buried next to him. I still didn’t like talking about Natalya Fateeva. She remained convinced that she had cast a spell on her because she had taken her husband, cosmonaut Yegorov, away from her. “Why am I so sick? - she was indignant. “I didn’t do anything bad to anyone!” Sometimes she wanted to hear my opinion. And then I shared what she did wrong, in my opinion. “Andrey, what does abortion have to do with it? - she was sincerely perplexed. “Nobody warned me that this was bad.” “A year and a half before leaving, Natalya Nikolaevna admitted to me that she was going to get married. - Yes. She was waiting for the Yaroslavl poet Alexei Filippov. But he still didn’t go. Natasha told me how they talk on the phone all night long. Communication with men was very important to her. Desperate to wait for Filippov, Natasha often suggested that I marry her: “Andrey, we will have a business. Do you know how great we'll live! I'll get up and we'll buy a car. Agree to marry me. Let me get you a good job!” She promised to leave me her apartment. But even without the wedding, she later said that she would sign over the living space to me, but she didn’t have time. She was a careful person. Despite our trusting relationship, I was still afraid of deception. In those moments when conversations turned to my marriage to her, I pointedly called her by her first name and patronymic, reminding her that I was at work. I must say that she was amazed by my refusals: “You’re somehow not like that, Andrey! All the men wanted me, but you didn’t! Why are you behaving like this, it will be good for both of us.” She did not use the word “sex” in her speech. “You have to make love,” she said. She considered sex a panacea for all ills. Natasha sincerely believed that as soon as a man touched her, she would immediately recover. Until her last breath she longed for love.

Already in her first year at VGIK, directors paid attention to her. In 1963, the film was released that made the actress famous - “Three Plus Two”. It was one of the highest-grossing Soviet films - 35 million viewers watched the film directed by Genrikh Oganesyan, and many could not take their eyes off the blonde with emerald eyes. Kustinskaya spent most of her screen time in swimsuits. Unlike her colleague, actress Natalya Fateeva, she appeared in a bustier with swimming trunks, after which they began to call her the Russian Brigitte Bardot. In addition, Kustinskaya introduced the fashion for swimsuits of different colors - primarily striped ones.

In the 70s, Kustinskaya played a small role, thanks to which millions of viewers remembered her. We are, of course, talking about the role of the blonde who accompanies director Yakin in Leonid Gaidai’s film “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession.” The script was written based on the play by Mikhail Bulgakov, so there were fears that the film would “lie on the shelf” for censorship reasons. Fortunately, this did not happen. Triumphantly shown on Soviet screens, this film remains one of the most beloved comedies of Russians. Kustinskaya played the role of director Yakin’s passion. To highlight her image, designer Vyacheslav Zaitsev came up with an unusual outfit for her: in the legendary scene in which Natalya Selezneva sings “People are losing each other,” Kustinskaya wore a white trouser suit with feathers.

This image still looks incredibly stylish and extravagant. And during the filming of the film, Kustinskaya helped Gaidai solve a problem with voice acting: in the scene when Miloslavsky calls Shpak at the clinic, Kuravlev could not fake a woman’s voice, so he speaks in the actress’s voice.

The relationship between Kustinskaya and her first husband, director Yuri Chulyukin, was not easy. He was afraid of losing his wife due to her increasing popularity. Later, the actress could not forgive him for not allowing her to play the role of Tosya in the film “Girls.” Chulyukin, trying to apologize, offered her to play Anfisa, but Kustinskaya refused because she was tired of being a seductress in the eyes of the public. Yuri eventually offered her the main role in his film “Royal Regatta”. And although Kustinskaya herself believed that the role of flight attendant Alena was unsuccessful, her image in this film captured the imagination of Soviet viewers.

The image of a fatal beauty sometimes prevented Kustinskaya from getting the roles she wanted. So, she was supposed to play the main female role in the film “Prisoner of the Caucasus,” but at the last moment they decided to replace her with Natalya Varley. Beauty also interfered with Kustinskaya in her personal life: according to the actress, from the age of 14 fans did not give her permission.

The actress was married several times. A striking episode in her life was her affair with cosmonaut Boris Yegorov, who “took” the actress away from her diplomat husband. They were one of the most beautiful couples in the Soviet Union. With him, Kustinskaya felt like a real star - the couple was invited to the Kremlin, journalists were constantly photographing them. The actress began to appear in chic French outfits and furs. Egorov wanted his wife to always look beautiful, and even around the apartment she had to walk smartly.

Natalya Kustinskaya passed away ten years after the death of her son Dmitry - at the age of 74, having suffered a stroke three days before her death. She was buried next to her son at the Kuntsevo cemetery in Moscow. Recently, a Nation News correspondent visited the final resting place of the actress and Dmitry and saw that the monument on her son’s grave was seriously tilted.
