At the age of 18, Lyuba Sokolova came to study in Leningrad. She was lucky to get from distant Ivanovo, first to the Pedagogical Institute, and then to the acting school at the Lenfilm studio. There she met the handsome actor Alexander Arapovsky. The wedding took place in May 1941. Sokolova was happy - her life was going as well as possible.
When the blockade ring closed around Leningrad, Lyuba and her husband went to work at an aircraft factory. She gave part of her work rations to her husband, but this could not save him...

A few days later I went to church and saw the icon. She was told that this was Nikolai Ugodnik. Lyuba gasped: “Fathers, it’s him, the little man I dreamed of!”
She survived. And in February 1942, she fell into the second wave of evacuation. But in the first winter of the siege, Lyuba lost everyone she knew in Leningrad. In the evacuation sheet, in the column “number of people” it was written: “one”.
It took her several days to get to her parents’ house in Ivanovo. There was complete uncertainty ahead. This condition is called “hunger apathy.” Lyuba Sokolova was taken out of her by her mother. One fine day, she put her daughter on a truck that was transporting fabrics from Ivanovo to Moscow and sent her to the capital.
