As a child, Marina Konyashkina and her brother
Marina went to the capital’s school No. 84 and as a teenager did not even think about becoming an actress. Her hobby was traveling: the girl was thinking about a career as a guide or manager in one of the travel agencies. But when Marina was in high school, one of her close friends, who studied in a theater studio, visited a festival in Paris with her troupe.

Then Konyashkina decided that the stage was no less interesting way to see the world than a travel agency. Marina enrolled in an acting studio, although by the time she graduated from school she only managed to travel to the Russian provinces, but she did not give up the idea of becoming an actress.

Actress Marina Konyashkina: I don’t want to be a slave to Instagram

Graduated from the Shchukin Theater School. She has more than 60 film roles. The viewer knows the actress from her work in such films and TV series as “Deep Current”, “Amazons”, “Let Them Talk”, “Cosmonautics”, “Ticket for Two”, “Children of Aquarius”, “Karina Krasnaya”, “While I Live, I love”, “Black Cats”, “Peter-Moscow”, “It Can’t Be Better”, “Incorruptible”, “Breakfast in Bed”, “Intruder”, “Teacher”, “City of Lovers”, “Union of Salvation”, etc. Actress Elizaveta Lotova: I am absolutely happy on the island of Koh Phangan

— Marina, do you remember the moment when you decided to become an actress?

— I watched the KVN of our rivals at school, it was very good. I wanted to figure out what was going on, and they pointed me to a participant who, as it turned out, was studying in a theater studio. And all the features that I liked so much came from there, from that studio. Plus, I found out that the guys traveled to many cities and countries with this studio. They visited France and Sweden. And I thought - wow, this is what I need to do!

— What was interesting to you about your first leading role in the TV series “Deep Current”?

— Since this is my first film work, it was of interest to everyone. And also the fact that the film was filmed in Belarus, and I was already a second-year student at the B. Shchukin Institute in Moscow, gave me a chance to spend time at home. Director Margarita Naumovna Kosymova, I must say, noticed me in the theater studio, before entering “Pike”. In general, everything turned out very well for me.

— Does beauty help in the acting profession, or does it sometimes get in the way?

— I’ll say without coquetry, I was always worried about my appearance. I wasn't the most attractive girl in the class. We all had such beauties! And in the theater studio they said, they say, Marinka will obviously not be taken by her appearance. Which makes me very happy as a result.

— What did you specifically study for the series “Amazons”?

“We played investigators, and we had consultants on the set. I rather had difficulties with terminology. But now I have remembered for the rest of my life what a “strangulation groove” is. It remains on the neck when a person is strangled.

— You acted a lot in melodramas. Why is this genre so popular in Russia?

“It’s just that the viewer, like yourself and your child, needs to be educated.” This genre has become so popular in our country thanks to Brazilian melodramas. We are always focusing on something. The West has now started producing cool TV series, and we, in turn, are developing this industry. Internet platforms have appeared. And this is good.

As for melodramas, many people want to distract themselves after a hard day at work and watch something laconic. But TV doesn’t really offer us anything else. And you unwittingly get drawn into this melodramatic wave. I'm not saying that this is bad, because there are many worthy works among this product!

— You probably often had to cry in melodramas. How do you bring tears?

— I don’t have any special technique. I am against the technique when an actor can cry at any moment, regardless of the context. In general, the viewer should cry. We shift our emphasis all the time. And many people think that talent is measured by the number of tears. But that's not true. If a story touches me, then, of course, I have feelings and I can easily cry. If not, I won't fake it. I'll find other colors. In general, crying is the easiest thing. A person cries when he has humbled himself and accepted the circumstances. And if we are talking about real pain, about tragedy, then, you know, they usually say - cry, cry, it will be easier. But it doesn’t work... Do you understand?

— You starred in the TV series “Let Them Talk.” How do you feel in real life about a TV show with that name and similar programs in general?

— Personally, I did not take part in them. This is not my format. For me, washing my own dirty linen in public is unnatural. And even more so, take part in the discussion of other people's problems as an expert. But there is a layer of people who are interested in this.

— What do you watch on TV yourself?

— Dad gave me a wonderful TV, but I don’t have an antenna yet, and I use it as a computer.

— How many followers do you have on Instagram?

— Not much, 14 thousand. I don’t really develop it, I don’t have a manager. I don't advertise anything there. So, from time to time I post photos and write something. Maintaining social pages takes a huge amount of time. So, if I take this seriously, I will simply become a slave to Instagram. No, I'd rather take a walk or read a book.

— In the film “Cosmonautics,” where you starred, the hero dramatically changes his life, deciding to become an astronaut. Could you give up everything and become someone else?

“I’m just thinking about this now.” You see, I get sour if something new doesn’t happen in my life for a long time. However, in my profession all this is already inherent. New roles, film crews, cities. I just constantly need to develop. I recently entered Moscow State University, the art market department. But the group in this direction did not form and, unfortunately, I will not be able to study there yet.

— In the film “Karina Krasnaya” your young heroine marries a mature, wealthy man. How do you feel about such misalliances in life?

— I have a positive attitude towards love, and if people love each other and there is an age difference, it doesn’t matter. I won’t even blame a girl if she marries a man for convenience. I don’t know this person’s background. This means that this is their path, and they need to go through it for something.

— You filmed a lot in Ukraine. Now they let you in there without any problems?

“Right now I’m not allowed to enter there.” I filmed in Crimea. This was the “Breakfast in Bed” project. Filming took place in Yalta. And before this situation, I worked very closely in Ukraine, maybe they liked my Belarusian roots, I don’t know. But I started filming there a long time ago, even before all the conflicts, in 2008. We filmed our last project in Chernivtsi, Western Ukraine. They frightened us and urged us to be careful, but I have never met kinder people than there.

— Do you regret that your entry was blocked?

- Well, of course, I regret it. It’s sad that I won’t be able to visit Ukraine yet. But, on the other hand, I now work more, being close to home and my loved ones.

— What is included in your rider?

— I have minimum requirements. Car, actor's trailer. And still water. All.

— In the film “The Stunt Man” you played a stuntman. Did you have to perform any tricks yourself?

— The stunt team there was very strong. These are Russian guys, but they work in Hollywood. And I understood that I couldn’t lose face. There was a scene where my heroine burns alive in a car. In general, the car was crashed, and I had to be turned over in it, I had to hang upside down. I don't like roller coasters, and it was scary for me to just flip over. And then I had to hang upside down, chained to a chair, for three hours. Fragments were flying nearby. There was gasoline spilled around the car, which was then set on fire, and it burned in front of my face. It was very unpleasant, but I managed

— How deeply do you immerse yourself in a character when you start filming?

- I always rejoice when necessary. When you need to do work for a role. One of my works that has not yet been released is the series “Twin,” where I played a GRU employee. I trained with stuntmen. I learned to hold a gun correctly, how to draw it, and how to crouch when you shoot. And plus there were also scenes when you had to run pretty fast in heels. I took up intense sports, running every day to become more resilient. Of course, I watched films about female heroines, such as “Nikita” by Luc Besson. I read a lot about their psychology.

Or, for example, take the recent film “Union of Salvation.” I’m in it as Trubetskoy’s wife – literally 9 seconds. But how much have I read about Ekaterina Ivanovna! Naturally, I rewatched “The Star of Captivating Happiness.” I listened to many lectures about the wives of the Decembrists. It was wonderful. I filled in some of my gaps and rediscovered something for myself.

For example, I learned that Ekaterina Trubetskaya is one of the few wives who was privy to all the affairs of the Decembrists from the very beginning. They had a devoted love with Trubetskoy. She was with him from beginning to end. Interestingly, Trubetskoy began drawing up documents for exile to Siberia even before the Decembrist uprising occurred. Ekaterina Ivanovna understood that everything could end this way. In general, the preparatory process is sometimes the most interesting!
