Singer Aziza: “After the murder of Igor Talkov, I lost my child”

Childhood and family

The full name of the famous artist is Aziza Abdurahimovna Mukhamedova, but fans from her native Uzbekistan and Russia call her simply by her name, which she once decided to choose as a pseudonym.

Singer Aziza in childhood

Aziza was born on April 10, 1964 in Tashkent, the capital of the Uzbek SSR. Her father was the director of the Uzbek Philharmonic. Before working at the Philharmonic, Abdurakhim Mukhamedov, who went through the entire war, taught music at the Tashkent Pedagogical School and served as a music editor at the National Uzbek Television. Aziza's father left a mark on history by writing many musical compositions: comedies, plays, works for choral performance, national and children's songs.

Little Aziza with her father

The artist’s mother, Rafika Mukhamedova, was an opera singer and leading actress of the Tashkent musical theater named after Mukimi. After the birth of her first daughter, Rafika left the stage, but she could not give up music completely and successfully combined caring for her family with her work as a teacher at a children's music school.

Aziza with mom

Aziza grew up with her two older sisters; the girls studied music and vocals from childhood, and their first teachers were, of course, their parents. In 1980, Aziza's father died, and she, like her sisters, were forced to help their mother.

Biography

Aziza was born in Tashkent in October 1964. She was the third child in the family, the third daughter. The girls were raised and educated in strict Muslim customs. From childhood, children were instilled with a love of music, since their parents were creative people: dad was a composer, mom was a music school teacher. However, in her childhood dreams, Aziza saw herself either as a doctor or a ballerina, and could not even imagine that she would one day become a singer.

But everything happened differently. When the girl was 15 years old, trouble came to the family - her father, Abdurakhim Mukhamedov, died. Even the youngest Aziza had to help the family. At the age of 16, in parallel with her studies, she began to solo in the local vocal ensemble “Sado” at celebrations and youth parties.

Beginning of career: variety ensemble “Sado”

Despite the fact that Aziza dreamed of entering a medical school, she nevertheless accepted the offer of Valery Baramykov, the leader of the famous pop ensemble “Navruz”, and became one of the three soloists of his new group “Sado”. The newly formed pop-folk ensemble also included Kumush Razzakova and Mira Romanidi.

Young Aziza in the ensemble “Sado”

As Aziza says, in 1980 she was in ninth grade and, of course, was warned that she would have to combine study and work, but she was not ready for the busy schedule. Despite the fact that Razzakova and Romanidi, who had already graduated from school, took on the main touring load, Aziza also took part in outdoor concerts in Uzbekistan and other republics of the USSR. Sado - Sing, my dutar (1984) In 1981, a young girl group was chosen as a representative from the Uzbek SSR at the Second All-Union Competition of Commonwealth Performers. According to the terms of the competition, members of the Sado ensemble had to perform a song from their native land, which had never been heard or performed anywhere before, as well as several songs from the Commonwealth countries.

Especially for this prestigious competition, poet Ilya Reznik and composer Raymond Pauls created several songs, with one of which, called “Don’t Be Embarrassed,” the Uzbek ensemble got into “Song of the Year-81” and won the hearts of all citizens of the Soviet Union. The Russians compared the girls with their famous colleagues from the then popular Western group "Arabesques", whose star was the singer Sandra.

Singer Aziza in her youth

At the competition, girls from Soviet Uzbekistan took first place, and their victory opened the doors of concert venues not only to them in the Soviet Union, but also to many foreign countries. After graduating from school, Aziza continued her education at the Tashkent Conservatory, and until 1986 she performed as part of the Sado group. Together with Mila Romanidi and Kumush Razzakova, she performed in Rwanda, Laos, Vietnam, Austria, Switzerland and Germany.

In the period 1982-1984, brave Uzbek girls gave several concerts in Afghanistan, exposing their lives to mortal danger, without exaggeration. On the way to the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, where the joint Afghan-Soviet enterprise was located, the car with the artists came under fire, but, fortunately, none of the girls were hurt.

Solo career

After graduating from the conservatory, Aziza Mukhamedova took part in the All-Union television competition for young pop singers, held in Jurmala in 1988. And although the singer failed to win, her performance of the songs “Namangan Apples” and “Good Angel” brought her the audience award.

Aziz Mukhamedova began her solo career in 1987, and she decided to take her own name as a pseudonym. Having moved to Moscow in 1988, she continued her rise to musical fame by releasing her debut album. The album, named after the singer, includes six pop compositions, including the songs “Cleopatra”, “Sergeant” and “Good Angel”. Aziza - Your smile All-Russian fame came to Aziza a year later. The song “Your Smile,” written by poet Boris Beskrovny and composer Oleg Beskrovny, became a musical event on a nationwide scale. This cheerful, bright composition sounded in the television programs “Good Morning” and “Blue Light” and was awarded an award in the main music show of the Soviet Union “Song of the Year”. Not the least role in the all-Union popularity that fell like an avalanche on the young singer was played by her beautiful external characteristics: the delicate, sensual face of an oriental beauty and the luxurious figure of a top model.

Hits

The first popular song “Your Smile” was written by a friend of the performer, composer Oleg Beskrovny. In just a matter of weeks, this composition became a hit. After this, a new song “Marshal's Uniform” was written for Aziza and a video clip was shot. Military themes are very close to the performer. She knew firsthand about all the horrors of war. It was thanks to this that Aziza managed to reveal the image of the song as deeply and convincingly as possible. From now on, she becomes the favorite singer of all men in uniform. Her first record, entitled “AZIZA,” was released in huge quantities.

Murder of Igor Talkov

The death of the rock idol of the late USSR era, musician and actor Igor Talkov had a negative impact on the career of Aziza, who also took part in the autumn concert on the stage of the St. Petersburg Yubileiny Sports Palace.

Aziza and Igor Talkov

As the most common version says, the singer died from a bullet fired at him by his concert director Valery Shlyafman on October 6, 1991. However, according to the initial version of investigators, Igor Malakhov was named as the killer; Aziza’s director and security guard, who was her lover at that time, as well as a former kickboxer, fled the scene of the crime.

It was Malakhov who started a fight with the security guards and Talkov’s concert director over which of the artists – Talkov or Aziza – would close the concert. The fact is that in show business of those years it was more honorable to perform closer to the finale than to the middle. The final number on that fateful evening was to be Oleg Gazmanov, in front of him was Aziza, and in front of her was Talkov. But Igor and Aziza were swapped. The singer was afraid that she would not be able to prepare for the performance. Through long disputes and threats, Malakhov agreed on a replacement, which provoked a brawl with Talkov’s guards. In the ensuing chaos, the artist was shot, but no one could say for sure whose gun fired that shot.

The case of the murder of Igor Talkov Ten days later, the suspect Malakhov voluntarily came to the investigators, and as a result of the investigation, Shlyafman was found guilty, who, however, managed to avoid punishment. After many years, there are those who do not believe that the fatal shot was fired as a result of a brawl, question the guilt of Valery Shlyafman and call the murder contracted.

For almost thirty years, the artist’s relatives and fans have repeatedly tried to initiate a reopening of the investigation, but law enforcement officials were unable to reopen the case due to newly discovered circumstances.

Life after the tragedy at the Yubileiny Sports Complex

Be that as it may, the tragedy that happened in the dressing room of Yubileiny not only cut short the life of a great artist, who was only 34 years old at the time of his death, but also almost buried the career of the young singer. Overnight, the rising pop star became persona non grata, she was no longer invited to television, and for several years Aziza disappeared from the musical horizon. Subsequently, the singer would call Talkov’s murder an absurd tragedy that divided her life before and after.

After the death of Igor Talkov, Aziza became persona non grata

In the mid-90s, the singer again appeared on the screens as part of “Song of the Year” and recorded the album “All or Nothing”, but she was unable to regain her former popularity. At the dawn of the 2000s, Aziza Mukhamedova released a collection entitled “After So Many Years,” which included compositions dedicated to her father. Aziza - I carried my misfortune (cover of Vysotsky) Persistence and the desire to again break through to the hearts of listeners helped her not to break down and survive the years of absolute oblivion. In 2008, the singer recorded the album “Reflection”, and a year later - the album “On the Shore of Chanson”. Participation in entertainment television projects such as “You are a Superstar” and “Exactly” somewhat “warmed up” the almost cooled interest in her work, which had been so unfairly consigned to oblivion.

Aziza also participated in several pop shows, in which she talked about the relationship that connected her with Talkov, but some, a very significant part of Russians, did not appreciate the singer’s revelations, calling them an attempt to restore her popularity at the expense of a dead artist.

Carier start

In 1989, Aziza moved to Moscow. The song “My Darling, Your Smile” makes her very popular. She was talented, loved bright clothes and emphasized her oriental appearance with bright makeup. The singer sewed all the outfits herself. The same year the debut album, called Aziza, was released.

Aziza was not afraid to turn to military topics. The song “Marshal's Uniform” was written for her, and later a video was shot for it. The performer knew very well what the theme was and sang very emotionally. This made her popular among military personnel.

In 1991, the woman had to go through a serious shock . Musician Igor Talkov was killed at a group concert. A few minutes before going on stage, a fight broke out between the singer’s security guard and Aziza’s friend, Igor Malakhov.

The conflict was started by the artist’s companion. He demanded that the director swap the performances of Aziza and Igor Talkov. The woman experienced severe toxicosis and needed time to recover. The director relented and the order was changed. Talkov did not like this, and he called Malakhov for a conversation.

A fight broke out between the men. They took out weapons and began to threaten each other. Malakhov managed to knock out the pistol, but suddenly a shot was fired. Talkov died, but the killer could not be found.

Aziza knew nothing about the conflict. But the public blamed her for the musician’s death. It took her four years to recover. Fans did not support the singer; journalists made accusations. It was difficult for the woman to endure this period, as various gossip appeared around her.

Gradually, the singer coped with grief and was able to return to work. She still felt guilty that Malakhov had a fight with Talkov. Creativity helped her cope with difficult thoughts.

In 1997, the second album “All or Nothing” was released. A few years later, the singer begins working with Stas Namin. This union allowed the woman to expand her repertoire with new songs with pop-rock motifs. In 2006, Aziza sang a duet with Talkov Jr. This performance made it possible to confirm that the musician’s family does not accuse her of anything.

In 2007, the singer became a participant in the show “You are Superstar”, where she won in all categories.

She publishes several more albums. In 2020, she finds herself on the project “Exactly the Same”, where she participates in several seasons. The singer has not yet informed reporters about her activities for 2020.

Personal life of Aziza

Nothing is known about the details of the star’s personal life before she moved to Moscow in the late 80s; in her homeland, Aziza, who had just graduated from the conservatory, for obvious reasons - her young age, studying and working in the Sado team - simply did not have time to acquire romantic stories.

Aziza and Igor Malakhov

The artist began dating the athlete and entrepreneur Igor Malakhov after moving to Moscow, but the tragedy that happened in the fall of 1991 at Yubileiny caused their separation. A miscarriage, which left Aziza without a chance of ever becoming a mother, as well as, albeit indirect, accusations against her and Malakhov in Talkov’s death separated them. Relations with Aziza and Malakhov continued until approximately 1994. Many years later, the diva admitted that it became difficult for her to tolerate her roommate’s alcoholic addictions, and she was forced to leave him.

In the early 2000s, Aziza met entrepreneur Alexander Brodolin, with whom she may have been in a relationship until 2020. According to some sources, Aziza and Alexander did not live together.

Aziza and Alexander Brodolin

In 2005, the singer changed her faith, converting to Orthodoxy, and, according to the artist, her family supported her choice.

In 2008, the singer gave an interview for the Friend publication, in which she said that her creative life is not limited to music. Aziza tried herself as a jewelry and clothing designer, but came to the conclusion that this activity should remain as a hobby.

The artist sewed many of the outfits for her performances herself; she was especially good at turbans, which she even created to order. One of Aziza’s clients was the famous Svetlana Svetlichnaya, who, as you know, had a huge collection of hats.

In the same interview, when asked about the presence of a man in her life, the singer replied that her heart was really occupied, and her lover was a famous businessman from Tashkent. However, during this period of time, the media already attributed to her an affair with St. Petersburg resident Alexander Brodolin.

In the fall of 2020, Aziza’s fate was marked by another tragedy - her mother died. The singer was grieving the loss of a loved one who was there during the most difficult moments of her life. For more than two and a half years, the artist struggled with depression, which caused serious health problems. As Aziza stated, she lived in America for five years, where she helped her relatives open a music school. In gratitude, relatives offered to name the school after her, but she refused due to her natural modesty.

For now everyone is at home. Visiting Aziza In her Moscow apartment, several dogs lived with her and her mother, each of which, according to the artist, was given to her by fate.

Talkov's death: continuation of the scandal

A new round of popularity occurred in Aziza’s career after her return from the USA, where she left after breaking up with Igor Malakhov, who was carried away by alcohol. Iosif Kobzon gave the singer advice to leave. Having become a guest of Boris Korchevnikov’s author’s show “The Fate of a Man” in the fall of 2020, the singer mentioned that she spent only a few months in America, although in earlier interviews, for example, for the publication “Friend,” she said that she lived in the States for almost five years. Fans of the Soviet rocker were angered by the words of Aziza, who, as you know, was, if not a participant in the tragic events of the autumn of 1991, then certainly an eyewitness to them. Russians were also outraged by the singer’s refusal to participate in investigative experiments, which, in her own words, could traumatize her psyche and harm her emotional state.

In December 2020, Aziza again became a participant in the music show “You are a Superstar”, in which Irina Ponarovskaya also took part; at the very beginning of next year she performed in a concert dedicated to the birthday of the parodist Alexander Peskov, and she was accompanied by company in the capital’s Solo restaurant compiled by Irina Gribulina, Olesya Yapparova, actor Vyacheslav Grishechkin and many others.

Aziza in the show “You are a Superstar”

In the spring of 2020, the singer agreed to take part in the intellectual Russian TV show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” The actress answered questions from Dmitry Dibrov together with the son of the Soviet rock icon, Igor Talkov Jr. Aziza failed to show a high level of intellectual development, moreover, the audience noted the arrogant and rude behavior of the artist, who looked out of place, especially in comparison with the reserved and well-mannered Igor. Unfortunately, Aziza and Igor could not answer the ninth question of the intellectual Dibrov and left without winning. Talkov’s son also said that Aziza was either crazy or received money for desecrating the musician’s memory. Many Russians supported Igor Igorevich, and some even suggested that the broadcast of the show “Actually,” which aired after his trip to Shies, whose residents entered into a confrontation with the authorities and opposed the construction of a landfill, was indeed ordered.
