We've already seen it somewhere. Oh, exactly! Yves Nabiev (Ivan Agafonov) won the “Success” show on STS in 2017. But I still haven’t found success. Now he came to “Voice-8” to prove to the whole country that he deserves more. So far it’s working out - during the blind auditions, performing the song “California Dreamin’” by The Mamas and The Papas, he turned all the mentors to him in less than a minute. The TV program found out what was so special about him and why the guy from the Perm region has a strange name.
— Ivan, the first thing your mentors told you: “It’s strange that such a stylish, talented and mature artist is still not popular throughout the country.” You won the show “Success”, you work at the Rybnikov Theater. What are you doing on “The Voice” along with the newcomers?

Still from the TV show “Success” - I’ll answer with humor. All my friends have already been to “The Voice,” but I still can’t make it. So I decided to compensate for this gap in my creative biography.
— This is not your first time in “The Voice”?
— Yes, I came to the castings for the second and fourth seasons of the show. But they didn’t take me. Most likely, the image was not yet fully developed, and the repertoire was not very suitable. And now everything has worked out, I came consciously and well prepared.

There is no desire to take revenge now ?
Prove everyone that they were wrong. - Not at all. There are no such complaints about “Golos”. But what didn’t happen very well with “Success” (the artist won this project two years ago. - Author). Perhaps that is why it has not turned out to become more popular at the moment.

- What's happened?
— The main reward of the show was a cash prize and the opportunity to record a song in one of the best studios in Los Angeles. The money was paid to me in half - quite recently, although the project ended two years ago, during which STS did not invite me to any of its projects or to any guest program. And nothing happened with the recording of the song in the USA. Moreover, some time after the end of the project, everyone who had anything to do with it was fired from the channel. And I never found the end. That's why I'm on The Voice.
- Let's talk about the image. Salvador Dali mustache, Spanish beard - what does it all mean?
— I have a group that I called Menhouzen Band. In consonance with the name of the famous hero, Baron Munchausen. I embodied this image in our theater, because the music for Mark Zakharov’s film was written by Alexey Rybnikov. And I thought: wow, I’ll grow a mustache and beard like this hero! He's very nice to our viewers. And people who see my group perform will immediately remember this vivid image: “Do you remember this guy performed there? Whiskered. He also looks like Munchausen!”

Once there was even an embarrassment. I’m walking through Kazan with my mother and son, and a man on a bicycle comes towards us - he rides past us and almost falls to the ground. I turn around and see what happened. And he runs to us and asks: “Can I take a photo with you?” And then I think: “Well. Glory has arrived! And he continues: “You look so much like Downey Jr.” It was very funny.
- And the name?
Why did Ivan Agafonov from the village of Maisky, Perm Territory, suddenly become Iv Nabiev?
Isn't this kitsch? — It’s simple: Yves is short for Ivan, Nabiev is my father’s last name. And I had to part with Ivan Agafonov, although I really like my passport details. This happened after a terrible tragedy in 2011 (a fight in a nightclub between fighter Rasul Mirzaev and student Ivan Agafonov ended in the death of the latter. - Author), because of which a blood-chilling story comes up when asking for the name “Ivan Agafonov” on the Internet.
— You admitted that you recently met your father. How did it happen?
“My father didn’t live with us, I only knew that his roots went to Baku. And then one day I came there on tour and asked very serious people to run through his details. I was told that there is no such person alive. A year ago, my mother and I came to the “Fashionable Sentence” program. I decided that her example could become an incentive for many: at the age of 63, she lost weight from 120 to 70 kg - she stopped eating unhealthy foods, took up sports, yoga, and completely changed her lifestyle. Of course, the wardrobe fell into disrepair, and we went to the show. There, Nadezhda Babkina and Alexander Vasiliev began to pull out all the details of her biography from her mother. Mom said my father's name. And after some time, my relatives from the Baku side showed up. That's how I found my father. Thank God he is alive and well. We started communicating.
— What is your
son interested in?

They have a wonderful choir of boys, this year they took first place at the choir festival in Riga. “The Voice” is watching with my mother, in the next round they will support me in the waiting room.
— Let’s imagine that you are in the final of “The Voice” and the audience voted well for you. Any thoughts on what you could spend 1 million prize rubles on?
- With the money that I won in “Success”, taking into account deductions and taxes, of course, I wouldn’t be able to fly to Los Angeles to record a song. But there are many masters in Russia too! I am collaborating with composer Lyubasha (Tatyana Zaluzhnaya), I am currently writing an album of her songs and hope to release it soon. Of course, if you manage to win “The Voice”, then the money will also go towards creativity - recordings, songs, arrangements, now this is not a cheap thing at all.
— And you also said that you are interested in dishes. How do you assemble a collection?
— Everything happens spontaneously. I saw it, I liked it, I took it. Among the most valuable items, I have an exclusive collection of coffee cups made from imperial bone china. In general, I can’t say that I’m some kind of aesthete or collector. I rather like functional souvenirs - a beautiful glass or piece of tableware, rather than a keychain or magnet that I can bring from travel or from a tour.

In November 2020, the vocal show “Success”, an adaptation of the Israeli show “The Final Four,” launched on the STS TV channel. The judges of the show were Philip Kirkorov, singer Nyusha and hip-hop artist Vyacheslav Mashnov (performing under the pseudonyms Slava CPSU and Gnoyny). The singer Vera Brezhneva was entrusted with hosting the competition.

Yves Nabiev tried his hand at the second week of the show. The singer admitted that he was persuaded to come to the competition by friends who also intended to win over the judges, but did not pass the first selection.
In front of the judges of the show, Nabiev performed his version of the song “Heroina mea” by Moldovan musicians Carla’s Dreams. The competition experts were completely delighted with Yves’ voice, although they noted a slight overdose in his demeanor. Of the jury members, only Slava CPSU did not like Yves’ voice.

It is noteworthy that this vocal competition is already being compared in level to the American project “American Idol”. The goal of the program is to show that popularity and fame can be achieved even without the support of any music company or cool producer. What matters is the talent and attitude of the audience.
The jury members of the first season of “Success” were Philip Kirkorov, Nyusha and Vyacheslav Mashnov, known as Gnoyny. It was Vyacheslav who defeated the rapper Oksimiron in the sensational versus battle. The honor of hosting the show went to Vera Brezhneva.

The young man was immediately remembered by the audience for his unusual appearance and mustache, dashingly curled upward. Finding himself among the contenders for victory, Yves Nabiev settled with the rest of the contestants in a luxurious house and began attending numerous master classes and meetings with famous artists and musicians, who helped him develop his own image and prepare the performance as best as possible.
The struggle turned out to be tense: towards the end of the project, unable to withstand the competition, the original participants changed. As a result, the chairs of the favorites, in addition to Yves Nabiev, were occupied by Anna Mart, Roman Arkhipov (former member of the Chelsea team) and Tamara Dudunia.

The final battle took place between Yves Nabiev and Roman Arkhipov. Roman performed the touching composition “In those days when she was mine” by Sergei Trofimov. Yves chose the one that was already loved by many and won, gaining 66% of the audience votes.
After the show, Gnoyny admitted that he did not believe in Yves’ victory, which the rapper did not like from the first minute. However, Yves proved his right to the main prize. And even the king of the Russian stage, presenting Iv Nabiev with a prize certificate for the right to record a composition in a Los Angeles music studio, emphasized that this victory was 100% deserved.
In addition to the final song, the audience remembered the composition “Papaoutai” by the Belgian performer Stromae, “Sub pielea mea” by the Moldovan group “Carla’s Dreams”, as well as the original performance of the song “Heaven” by Valery Meladze.

During the “Success” show, rumors about a romance between Yves and participant Alina Astrovskaya were actively circulated. Nabiev himself has repeatedly stated that Alina is his muse, and that there is uncontrolled flirting between them, which caused indignation among many viewers and even judges.
