Nikolai Karachentsov: filmography, biography, best roles

Theater

In 1967, among the ten best graduates, he was assigned to the Moscow Lenin Komsomol Theater. The actor’s entire life is connected with this theater.

During the first years of his service in Lenkom, Nikolai Karachentsov participated in productions of the era of Anatoly Efros: “Smoke of the Fatherland”, “My Poor Marat”, “A Farewell to Arms!”, “Fear and Despair in the Third Empire”. In 1973, a new artistic director came to the theater - Mark Zakharov. With him began a new era of Lenkom and its actors.

In 1974, Zakharov gave Karachentsov the role of Till Eulenspiegel in the play “Til,” a comedy by Grigory Gorin based on Charles de Coster. "Til" brought Nikolai the reputation of a synthetic actor - a singer, mime and acrobat. The performance has been in Lenkom's repertoire for almost 20 years.

Karachentsov’s work in “Juno and Avos,” where he played Count Rezanov, was even more successful. The new genre of “rock opera” made “Juno and Avos” a cult performance of the 1980s. Until now, he is sold out on the stage of Lenkom, but those spectators who were lucky enough to see Karachentsov consider his Rezanov unsurpassed.

At Lenkom Karachentsov played many other roles. Among them: “The Star and Death of Joaquin Murrieta”, “The Golden Key”, “Molière”, “Cruel Intentions”, “Optimistic Tragedy”, “Dictatorship of Conscience”, “Hamlet”, “The Jester Balakirev”.

In one of his interviews, Nikolai Karachentsov said: “I always dreamed of being the best artist.” Fans of the actor believe that he succeeded.

Childhood and youth

Nikolai Petrovich Karachentsov was born on October 27, 1944 in Moscow. His parents were people of art - his father was a famous and respected illustrator, and his mother was a choreographer Yanina Evgenievna Brunak - she performed in the best halls of the USSR.

At the age of 7, due to the fact that his mother devoted herself entirely to work, she sent Nikolai to a boarding school under the Ministry of Foreign Trade, but, of course, did not stop communicating with her son. The boy studied very well and was a party activist. By the way, it was precisely these beliefs that he remained with throughout his youth.

Accident, illness and death

The accident that changed the fate of the performer happened on the last day of February 2005. The actor heard about the death of his wife’s mother and went to Moscow in great excitement. He was driving a car that exceeded the speed limit and was not wearing a seat belt. The 2005 accident was all over the news: the famous performer received a head injury, was hospitalized in a coma and underwent craniotomy followed by surgical intervention in the brain tissue. In June, the actor was transferred to a rehabilitation center, and in May 2007 he was able to come out to the audience. Around the same time, the actor’s wife, his producer and director released “Anthology,” a collection of 12 discs. Many compositions were taken from Fedorov’s personal archive. The anthology was released in a limited edition of 1,500 pieces. During this period, the wife did a lot for her sick husband, not allowing him to sink into the despondency of illness at home. The couple was often seen in theaters and museums.

The actor's next public appearance was in 2009. Photos of him in old age, taken at an event on October 1 at the Lotte Plaza club, demonstrate the love of life and strong will of this man. However, the singer’s speech did not fully recover, and his reaction remained slow. Disability put an end to my career. In the spring of 2011, the actor underwent a therapeutic course in an Israeli clinic and began to speak better, and two years later he went to Beijing for treatment. In the autumn of the same year he appeared in the film “White Dews. Return".

In October 2014, Karachentsov’s anniversary evening was organized in Lenkom. On the first day of November of the same year, the actor’s creative evening took place. The victims were immediately taken from the scene of the incident to the hospital and referred for further treatment to a clinic in the capital.

But the accident was not the cause of death. In October of the same year, the man was diagnosed with lung cancer. The disease was suspected back in February of that year, but at first doctors saw only an area of inflammation. Only in the fall was it possible to make an accurate diagnosis. Since the tumor was local, there was still hope for a long life. The actor underwent chemotherapy, but in the fall of 2018 he developed pulmonary inflammation.
