Theater

In his thesis, the aspiring actor received the role of Balzaminov in a production of Alexander Ostrovsky’s comedy “The Marriage of Balzaminov.” In 2000, a university graduate got a job at the Kazan Youth Theater, where he worked for the next two years. Then he became a ballet dancer at the Musical Comedy Theater in the Northern capital. “Being an actor at the Youth Theater was natural: he studied at the theater in Kazan. We had a directing course; we didn’t hire actors then. I always wanted to act. Subsequently, I became the only one who worked as an actor in the theater - I was invited to the Youth Theater. It wasn’t a difficult time then - there was no director in the theater, there was some kind of chaos. I didn’t have a good relationship with the troupe leader - some incomprehensible complaints began. I had to play bunnies and snags – that’s good, but I wanted something more. Therefore, I met the guys from St. Petersburg and went there, becoming a ballet dancer. After working, he returned to Kazan and spent the next few years in show business,” recalls Adaev.

In 2012, another film with her participation was released - the sports drama “Poddubny”. Her partner in the film was Russian actor Mikhail Porechenkov. Stuntman

Since 2007, Konstantin Georgievich has been a stunt performer and director of hand-to-hand fights for the Russian Stuntmen Association. In the same year, he made his screen debut as a stuntman in the film Morozov. Then he worked in such films as: “We are from the future-2”, “Redhead”, “I am a bodyguard”, “Countergame”, “Brest Fortress”, “Black Wolves” and others.

“When I started working as a stuntman, I said: “Guys, I will do what I feel. I don’t want to experiment and prove something to anyone on the court.” Still, there is some kind of instinct of self-preservation and a line that you understand due to your training. I don’t like heights, and I won’t fall like a “seed” from the 30th floor - let people who feel comfortable doing it do it. There were different stunts - being hit by a car, flying down the stairs, turning over on a bus, and working on explosions. The most important thing is not to rush anywhere and not to prove anything to anyone: then everything will work out professionally, safely and effectively,” says Adaev.

Konstantin Adaev: biography

In Russian action films you can often see the tall, well-built artist Konstantin Adayev. The 42-year-old artist also often acts as a stunt coordinator and stuntman for films. Combining the work of an artist and a stuntman, Konstantin debunks the often prevailing opinion that “narrow-minded people” risk their lives in the cinema:

“There is a moment of creativity in acting and stunt choreography. In terms of stunt cinema, I would like to change society’s opinion about the profession of a stuntman.”

Interview

About the roles

“Hamlet is still more of a theatrical thing, and I’m not quite in the know.” I like how Vysotsky and many others did it. But personally, real life is closer to me: I want to look for something in it, to understand. I am not theatrical, but cinematic: I need more action than words. To be fair, despite so many scumbags I played, there were also positive characters. In “The Third Duel” I have the main role of a coach, in “Wings” I am a good guy - together with Leonid Yarmolnik we catch vampires...

In fact, no one is difficult to play. It's more interesting to play bad characters. They tell me that in life I am good and kind. Therefore, when working on a negative image, it is interesting to discover other facets of some vile scum in yourself. Playing good guys is also quite interesting. The main thing is what you get out of yourself, how you experience it. When you have a goal, you always justify yourself - whether you are a bastard or a good guy.

A role is a role, even if it’s tiny: you need to come in with something and leave the frame with something. I always read the entire script and work with full dedication, regardless of whether it’s an episode or a leading role.”

About colleagues

“I became friends with many actors. Mikhail Porechenkov and I are very friendly - he is a passionate sportsman, a passionate actor who loves action scenes and is a great film connoisseur. There is always something to talk about with Igor Petrenko, Lesha Kravchenko, Andrey Merzlikin. It was a pleasure to work together with Kostya Yushkevich; after meeting, Sergei Astakhov pleasantly surprised me with his enthusiasm. Sergei Garmash is a wonderful actor, despite the fact that he is somewhat older than the others, in terms of plasticity and rhythm, he plays out his elements completely. In general, when communicating with actors, I noticed that many are trying to grow physically in order to play in dynamic, spectacular scenes themselves, and not look for an understudy.”

Way to success

“I can’t say that the path was difficult. Any success is the equivalent of believing in yourself and knowing specifically what you want with all your heart. Even a year of work in the gym upon arrival in Moscow was not in vain. The spiral goes up. Get out of your “comfort zone,” do something you’ve never done, and don’t doubt yourself even in small endeavors. In addition, I am not lying and openly say that income from work is very inspiring... Besides, I love work, and even if not so quickly, I am moving towards the goal.”

About the homeland

“It all depends on the work, but I come 4-5 times a year. I like being here, I really love Zelenodolsk and Kazan. Here are family and friends, memory and the energy with which it all began. Zelenodolsk for me is a place of inspiration and relaxation: here I gain strength and get back to work.” Based on materials from the sites: kino-teatr.ru, vokrug.tv, kazan-news.net, zelenodolsk.ru, 24smi.org.

Zelenodolsk action hero about Hollywood, fractures and hometown

Konstantin Adaev is known throughout Russia as a stuntman and action actor.
Just the other day, “Russia 2” released a new film, “The Third Duel,” with Konstantin in the title role. The actor told ProKazan.ru about which Hollywood film companies are offering him work, whether he is going to found his own sports school in Zelenodolsk, and how his future wife Katerina Shpitsa impressed him when they met. Konstantin, why did you decide to take up sports? — I have always been involved in sports. He played football and skated. My friends and I also loved going to video salons, where you could watch a movie for 40 kopecks. That's when I first learned about martial arts. This inspired us a lot, but there were no sections in the city yet. Therefore, we had to buy books on wrestling, redraw wrestling schemes.

Did 80s action heroes help you decide on a career?

— Since childhood, I looked up to Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren - they masterfully control their bodies and give people more than the bills of the health ministers. In addition, these actors are perky peppers who can laugh at themselves and at their surroundings. Now I have a huge number of favorite actors I already know: Konstantin Porechenkov, Danila Kozlovsky, Kostya Petrenko. There is always something to talk about with them.

How did you become an actor?

— I graduated from the theater department of the Kazan Academy, after which I tried myself at the Youth Theater. It was a difficult period for the Kazan theater. There was no director there at that time, the building was under restoration, and no new plays were staged on stage. Back then I tried all sorts of roles: a hedgehog, a snag, a bunny...

After Kazan, I went to St. Petersburg, where I was accepted into the ballet troupe of the Musical Comedy Theater. It turned out to be not my thing at all and I returned to Kazan, worked on the Bionix strip show - they were simply gorgeous, and later I was invited to become the art director of Arena.

How did you end up on set?

- It is an accident. I went to Moscow and got a job at a gym. Taught private classes in kickboxing and fitness. Once my friends said to me: Kostya, what do you want? We have the stuntman's phone number, maybe you can call him? As a result, I was hired at Mosfilm as a fight director. I was primarily interested in the psychology of relationships, I love it.

During all your time as a stuntman, have you broken something many times?

— Injuries in movies are the consequences of haste, bravado or inattention. I didn’t break anything either in cinema or in sports. Well, apart from the little fingers and nose.

Did your colleagues on the set accidentally get hit on the nose?

- Thank God, karate classes and shota hentai taught me to control my strength. I can even kick thin objects out of a person's mouth or head. Although there was a funny incident once. We filmed a fight in the park, I dubbed Seryozha Gorobchenko. I had to jump and kick the bandit in the head. As a result, by accident the tip of my shoe touched his lips. The fact is that they gave me shoes three sizes larger. Everything went well, the blow was not strong, but the slap from it made us laugh a lot.

Is it true that stuntmen have no fear at all?

— Initially, everything was new to me. Before that, I didn’t climb onto a balcony on the 13th floor, I didn’t turn over on a bus, I didn’t get shot. I realized that there should be healthy fear - it concentrates and helps not to rush. You cannot be relaxed or constrained.

You mostly play brutal men. Would you like to change your role?

— I would be interested in making people laugh. But for now, due to my characteristics, for some reason I am only cast in the roles of bad guys,” he laughs. But I still try to make each of my characters more humane - no matter how bad he is.

Have you been invited to act in Hollywood yet?

— Once, my sportsman friends introduced me to the owner of a film studio that produced “Machete”, “Sin City 2” and many other films. We discussed the script, they talked about their plans and offered to try out for a role in their action movie with Steven Seagal. For now this is just a proposal.

Ekaterina Shpitsa

What are you working on now?

— Individual rehearsals are currently underway for the new project “Vikings.” We are taught to fencing, and recently I learned to gallop on a horse very quickly! Filming will take place in the Moscow region at the Glavkino studio and in Crimea. I will have to fly there three times. I think it will be an interesting experience, I'm always happy to learn something.

What is this project about?

— This is the story of the baptism of Rus'. About three brothers: Vladimir, Oleg and Yaropolk. The project has been in development for 6 years and, as a result, filming begins in March.

How did you meet your wife (Ekaterina Shpitsa, editor’s note)?

“We met her on the set and started talking. When it came to sports, Katya did 10 pull-ups. Then I was simply stunned. And now we already have a son; on February 25 he turns 3 years old.

Do you often visit Zelenodolsk?

— I really love being at home. In Zelenodolsk, every square meter is filled with pleasant memories. Every New Year, our whole family comes home to celebrate the holiday, and sometimes we leave our son to stay with his grandmother.

What do you think about when, upon arrival, you meet, for example, drunk people on the street?

— After two factories closed at once, many workers were sent on unpaid leave. I don't justify them, but many simply lose themselves. Under Gennady Emelyanov, the city flourished, but now it seems that there is no owner in it.

Would you like to open your own sports school in Zelenodolsk?

— I would like to inspire children to play sports. But for now we need to develop media coverage. In addition, now it is much easier for the city administration to give the premises to Pyatorochka than to renovate it for a gym.

Have you heard the story about Bogachenko?

- He and Zelenodolsk?! I did not know! I'll have to read about it, it's interesting... :)
