Theater

In 2006-2009, while a student, the artist played at the Saratov State Academic Drama Theater named after. Slonova.

In 2008, Vyacheslav Chepurchenko was awarded a personal scholarship from Oleg Tabakov. Oleg Pavlovich, who himself was from Saratov, established it specifically for the most talented Saratov actors - students of the theater department. A year later, Vyacheslav was accepted into the Tabakerka troupe.

His first work on the stage of this famous theater was the small role of Slavik in Konstantin Bogomolov’s production of “Wolves and Sheep.” Next, Chepurchenko played Felix Krul in Andrei Zhitinkin’s revival of “Confessions of the Adventurer Felix Krul.” Then the actor’s collaboration with director Bogomolov continued in his performances Wonderland-80, “Crazy Day, or The Marriage of Figaro” and “The Year When I Was Not Born.”

Vyacheslav recalls how he got to the theater: “I was rollerblading in the park named after. Komsomol volunteers in the city of Kamyshin. I met a guy a little younger than me. He was with an aunt who was a couple of years older than me. We started talking, and they said: “You need to go to theater.” I was in the 10th grade then, and not very well, I performed in amateur performances, loved to walk and smoke behind garages. The boy’s aunt’s name was Vika, and she led me by the hand to enter the Saratov Institute, just like an angel. For which I thank her. We did it together. And I studied for 4 years, playing the main roles in two plays - “Running away from Love” and “4 Encounters”.

Then Avangard Leontyev said that 6-7 graduates of the institute, Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov, could show themselves. We went and showed up. Tabakov said, as in “17 Moments of Spring”: “Thank you everyone, there are no places. And I’ll ask you to stay.” I stayed for three weeks, and I was introduced to perform in three scenes from the play “Confessions of the Adventurer Felix Krul” and “Simplicity is Enough for Every Wise Man” in the place of Sergei Vitalievich Bezrukov... I pulled out a lucky ticket, I was really lucky.”

Childhood and youth

Vyacheslav was born in Rostov-on-Don, but the family moved to Kamyshin. The boy spent his entire childhood there, and he has many warm memories of this city. He doesn't remember Rostov.

Vyacheslav’s mother is also an actress, and it was thanks to her profession that her son fell in love with the theater. She is a teacher by training, but she did not like working at school.

The rest of the boy's family worked in trade. Vyacheslav’s father is Yuri, and his mother is Irina.

At school, Chepurchenko participated in various theatrical productions, but for a long time he doubted whether he wanted to do this professionally. He finally decided to apply to a theater university and graduated with success.

From the second year he began to get roles in the theater.

After training, he was accepted into the troupe of Oleg Tabakov's Moscow Theater. The first roles of the aspiring actor were positively assessed by critics.

Chepurchenko first received a film role in 2011

Cinema

Vyacheslav Chepurchenko first appeared on television in 2011, starring in one of the episodes of the series “Pyatnitsky”. The following year, the aspiring actor was lucky enough to play the role of a nurse in the acclaimed film “Legend No. 17,” whose star was Danila Kozlovsky. Then viewers were able to see the artist in the detective series “MosGaz” with Andrei Smolyakov and Marina Alexandrova.

In 2013, Vyacheslav got the main role in the mystical youth series “Through My Eyes.” His character is the handsome school boy and the ringleader Lesha Kazantsev. The film is built on the principle of a folding puzzle. Each character has their own story within the series. These stories are intertwined, relying on a system of flashbacks and flashforwards. 2014 also became a very fruitful year for the young actor - his roles in the series “Demons” based on the novel of the same name by Dostoevsky and “Farewell, beloved!” remembered and loved by many.

By 2020, Chepurchenko had become a very recognizable artist: in the crime saga “The City” he played Yasha “Gypsy”, in the biographical film about Valery Obodzinsky “These Eyes Opposite” - a singer in his youth, in the scandalous series “Betrayal” - Slava Salnikov, one of the lovers the main character in the military drama “Young Guard” - Oleg Koshevoy. Some of Vyacheslav’s latest works are in the horror film “The Bride,” the detective story “Sleepers,” the melodrama “Happiness from Pieces,” the historical film “Wings of the Empire,” the TV series “Witnesses” and “Live to Love.”

Films and theater

In 2009, my studies at the conservatory came to an end. The guys from the theater department performed graduation performances. People's Artist of the Russian Federation, theater and film actor Avangard Nikolaevich Leontyev sat on the commission. He specially came from Moscow to not only evaluate the skills of the graduates, but also to choose the best to work in Oleg Tabakov’s theater. This meeting with the stage master largely determined the further biography of Vyacheslav.

Leontyev chose five. They went to the screening, where the decisive vote already belonged to the famous artistic director. Chepurchenko prepared theatrical excerpts for viewing with Sergei Bezrukov himself. By the way, on forums where Vyacheslav’s fans gather, his acting style is often compared to Bezrukov’s play.

Tabakov liked the young actor of tall stature and athletic build (Vyacheslav’s height is 182 cm, weight is 80 kg) and remained on the theater staff. The actor’s repertoire includes roles in the plays “Wolves and Sheep” based on Alexander Ostrovsky, “The Year I Wasn’t Born” based on Viktor Rozov’s play “The Wood Grouse’s Nest”, “The Nameless Star” based on Mikhail Sebastian.

In addition to working in the theater, the actor was also successful in cinema. His filmography includes dozens of works in films and TV series.

Vyacheslav Chepurchenko in the film "MosGaz"

The actor began with episodic roles in the projects “Pyatnitsky”, “MosGaz”, and in the sports film “Legend No. 17”. In 2013, Chepurchenko first appeared as the main character. He played the character Lesha Kazantsev in the mystical thriller “Through My Eyes.” Soon the artist played a supporting role on the screen in the melodrama “Farewell,” where Alena Babenko, Sergei Yushkevich, and Vladimir Vinogradov shone in the foreground.

Among Vyacheslav’s works are the role of Lieutenant Erkel in the film adaptation of “Demons”, the image of a lawyer in the detective story “Farewell, Beloved!”. In 2020, Chepurchenko appeared in the rating project “These Eyes Opposite”, playing the role of the main character of the story Valery Obodzinsky in his youth.

Vyacheslav Chepurchenko in the film “Demons”

Vyacheslav sees a big difference between working in theater and cinema and admits that the latter is not easy. If in the theater the actor has a lot of time before the performance to get used to the role, then in the cinema he needs to give the result “here and now”, i.e. go to the site and immediately show the finished image. However, Chepurchenko is doing great.

Vyacheslav tells how on the set of “Young Guard” there was a moment when the hero runs barefoot in the snow. And if for the viewer the scene lasts 3 seconds, then in reality the actor spent the whole day barefoot in the cold.

Vyacheslav Chepurchenko in the film “Betrayal”

Among the latest projects, we can highlight the series with Elena Lyadova “Betrayal” directed by Vadim Perelman. Vyacheslav Chepurchenko plays the role of one of the main character’s lovers. He himself admits that after the series aired he became more recognizable on the streets. Kirill Kyaro, Glafira Tarkhanova, Evgeny Stychkin, Mikhail Trukhin, Denis Shvedov, Pavel Maikov also played in the film.

In 2020, Vyacheslav appeared in the ensemble cast of the detective series “Anna Detective”.

Interview

About the roles:

“I consider the role of Oleg Koshevoy to be the best role in my short film career. I'm very proud of her. For me this is a personal big victory. Those of my friends and colleagues who watched the entire series said: “Slava, this is cool.”

“It’s definitely not worth giving up roles, because after seven years of working in this profession, I realized that you don’t know where you will find it or where you will lose it. The most important thing is the chemistry between the actor and the director on set, when it happens it’s unforgettable.”

About filming:

“Filming is the best moment. When I was filming in Young Guard for two weeks in a row, it looked like this: I woke up, had breakfast, went to the set, filmed, came home, learned the text, had dinner, went to bed and woke up again. Not a single unnecessary thought, just about work. That honest fatigue that you have earned is born.”

About the profession:

“I realized what the beauty of cinema is for me: it gives you confidence that someone needs you, you make good money, you immerse yourself in the material, rummage through it. And when you come to the theater after filming, you go on stage and think: “I’m handsome! I have a favorite job."

About theater and cinema:

“I can’t separate one from the other. In the theater, while you are rehearsing a new role, you delve into yourself, find new antics and jumps, you are constantly in doubt and ultimately give away the role. And in the cinema, firstly, you receive material benefits, secondly, self-confidence, and thirdly, you just work and work. Cinema only takes away: you can’t come to the set and start delving into the characters, there’s simply no time for that, because the producer stands in front of you and says: “Brothers, let’s shoot faster, the clock is ticking.” That’s why I find everything in the theater and put it out in the cinema.”

On comparison with Sergei Bezrukov:

“I don’t even really know how to feel about this. In facial expressions, but rather in type, I really look alike. But I have no desire to enter into controversy on this matter.”

About family:

“My mother is the only one in the family who did not follow the trading path. The whole family knows how to trade: some have small businesses, others have larger ones. Mom became an actress, although by profession she is a primary school teacher. She couldn’t work at school (it turned out that it wasn’t hers), she was selected for the theater and worked there for 15 years.”

Personal life

A handsome, charming guy with a great sense of humor always enjoyed the attention of girls, and in his youth, Vyacheslav Chepurchenko had several affairs in his personal life, but they all ended in breakups, each of which brought him a lot of worries.

He met his true love, the girl with whom he wanted to connect his biography, later, after graduating from theater school, when he was already an actor in “Snuffbox”.

The acquaintance happened by chance - in a subway car, Vyacheslav noticed a pretty girl with whom he really wanted to get to know each other better. It was Victoria Ilyina, a student of the Faculty of Philology.

“And then I saw Vika in the subway... I caught up and met her, which is not at all like me,” says Vyacheslav.

Their relationship developed rapidly, and two weeks later the young people began to live together.
