Biography of Vaikule's husband
Most people know about the biography of Andrei Latkovsky, thanks to Laima Vaikule. He is a former bass player who met the famous singer in 1970. They have been living in a de facto marriage since 1978, but until recently they made no attempts to formalize their relationship.
Despite the fact that Latkovsky is a musician by profession, first of all, he is known to most as the beloved pop diva of the national stage.
He conquered the singer with his impeccable physical parameters and subtle spiritual nature. With a height of 182 centimeters, his weight is about 85 kilograms. At the same time, he has a lot in common with Vaikule, which allowed them to be together for such a long time.
Very little is known about the biography of Andrei Latkovsky, because he is a non-public person. All information about him is in one way or another connected with the figure of Laima Vaikule.
The beginning of the way
Laima Stanislavovna Vaikule was born on March 31, 1954 in the city of Cesis (Latvian SSR). The family was absolutely not artistic and not bohemian: the father, Stanislav Vaikulis, was a simple worker; Mom, Yanina Vaikule, first worked as a simple saleswoman, and then became the director of a large store. The only one of Laima’s relatives who had anything to do with art was her grandmother, who sang in the church choir. The artist herself claims that she owes her singing abilities and inclinations exclusively to this grandmother.

When little Laima was three years old, their entire family left provincial Cesis for the capital of the republic, Riga. She had to live in a small one-room apartment, and there was a large family: her parents, Laima, her two older sisters (one and a step-sister) and an older brother, also a step-brother. The future star grew up as a hooligan and often got on the nerves of her parents, while being their favorite.

Despite her difficult and capricious character, at first the girl coped well with all sciences, receiving straight A's. And only when a passion for music and singing emerged, the exact sciences faded into the background. The apartment was so cramped that when the school teacher noticed first-grader Laima’s obvious talent for music and recommended her parents buy a piano for their daughter, they didn’t do it for the sole reason that there was nowhere to put such a large and bulky instrument.

However, Laima herself was not upset about the inability to learn to play the piano. She didn’t even think of herself as an artist and was going to become a doctor, and after graduating from eight years of school she entered medical school. And this despite the fact that at the age of 12 she made her debut on stage during a competition for young vocalists at the House of Culture of the Riga VEF plant. There she was awarded a diploma and accepted into the big band, with which she immediately began performing. Having become a medical school student, fifteen-year-old Laima passed a competition and became a soloist of the Riga Radio and Television Orchestra under the direction of Raimonds Pauls.

1979 - Laima Vaikule began her career in the popular variety show “Juras Perle” (“Sea Pearl”). At first she was trusted to sing in a dance orchestra, but over time she was appointed soloist. An intelligent and capable girl, she understood that in order to achieve something more, she should get a specialized education and in 1984 she entered GITIS in the directing department.

Getting to know Vaikule
Many are convinced that it was Latkovsky who contributed to the fact that Vaikule was able to reach such heights in her musical career. After all, you can’t do this if you don’t feel the support of loved ones and devoted people.
The hero of our article met the singer at a disco, when she was not yet rich and famous, but was just beginning her creative career. Since then, the life of Vaikule and the biography of Andrei Latkovsky have been inextricably linked. Date of birth: 1947. Thus, he is seven years older than the singer.
At the time they met, Laima worked at the Riga Concert Association, being a soloist there. True, they did not immediately begin to live together. At first, their relationship was not so close, they broke up and lost sight of each other for some time. Only after several years, during which Latkovsky worked as a bass guitarist in various groups, they finally connected and began to live together. Since then they have not separated.
Personal life
The personal life of Laima Vaikule rarely appears on the pages of tabloids and the yellow press. The star did not use scandals to increase her rating and did not share private details.
Laima Vaikule’s first and only common-law husband remains Andrei Latkovsky, a former bass player and producer. The couple has been together since 1970 - since they met. For many years, Vaikule and Latkovsky have been spouses, best friends and partners in creative work. Andrey was there when Laima became seriously ill. It was he who helped to survive without leaving his beloved one step.
The couple has no children. Laima Vaikule gives her unspent maternal love to young singers: she was one of the founders of the competition for young pop singers “Jurmala”.
The artist is going to age beautifully and is sure that she should not become a slave to her appearance.
“A living wage means decent shoes, healthy teeth, a good manicure, well-groomed hair, and everything else depends on the look.”
Even Vaikule’s stage makeup is minimalistic. Laima claims that she has not yet resorted to plastic surgery. However, based on individual photographs, a number of fans decided that the singer had undergone injections of fillers and botulinum toxin.
Agreeing with the demands of the time, Laima created a personal website and page on. twice asked to perform the hit “The Color of the Mood is Blue.” Valery Leontyev presented a new composition “Wind Violinist”.

A month later, Vaikule went on tour to Ukraine, where she told Odessa journalists that she would never go to Crimea, no matter what fee was offered. The singer also said that she was glad about the collapse of the Soviet Union. The artist was also attacked with insults. Colleagues reacted differently to Laima’s words. Some left the singer the right to her own opinion, others accused her of hypocrisy and that Vaikule was “biting the hand that feeds her.”
Later, Vaikule shared her impressions of the current situation. Laima, by her own admission, does not watch TV, but is aware of what people think about her.
"I do not even know what to say. In my life I have never commented on a single artist who did something. It's just shameful, evil and ugly. This is jealousy, envy. It's horrible. It's just disgusting."
And journalists, according to the singer, are completely liars and provocateurs. The concert director also supported Laima. According to Alexey Yakovlev, nothing terrible happened; Vaikule’s words were “twisted and inflated.”
The scandal had a negative impact not only on the singer’s image. The Russian tax authorities became interested in Vaikule’s activities. Officials, in particular, had questions about the legality of Laima’s performances at private parties and corporate events, since foreign artists are presented with a number of requirements that they must comply with if they want to work in the Russian Federation. If it turned out that the Latvian star had committed violations, the artist would have faced a fine or a ban on performing in Russia.
Later, internal affairs bodies reported that no grounds had been identified to bring the celebrity to justice. And Vaikule herself said that after the lifting of sanctions she would immediately come to Crimea and sing for free.
Maximum closure
It must be emphasized that the biography of Andrei Latkovsky is hidden as much as possible from prying eyes; he does not like publicity. Unlike his wife, for whom communicating with journalists and fans is one of the prerequisites for success.
Latkovsky himself never gives any interviews. Most of Laima Vaikule’s relatives adhere to a similar principle in life. So, her sister and mother never tell any details: neither about their life, nor about the singer’s life, although they constantly live with her in the same house in Jurmala.
The singer herself willingly talks about her creative achievements, failures and long-term plans, but for a long time she practically did not talk about her private life. Only on the eve of her 60th birthday, which Vaikule celebrated in 2014, did something become known about one of the people closest to her. The singer even invited home a film crew from one of the central TV channels.
Spectators and her fans were able to see with their own eyes the terrace of the singer’s country house, where Russian pop stars more than once filmed their videos. Alla Pugacheva, Grigory Leps, and Philip Kirkorov appeared here.
Collaboration
It was in that very first TV story that the singer’s common-law husband appeared and talked a little about his biography and personal life, Andrei Latkovsky. According to him, they met in a restaurant where a disco was held. The musician played on stage in his usual role as a bass guitarist.
They started talking seriously about a joint relationship after they met at the Leningrad Hotel in the early 70s. The group in which Latkovsky performed was supposed to organize a bright show, but they lacked a singer for this. It was then that Andrey remembered about Vaikule and called her to work. This is how their romance began.
Vaikule herself recalls that during that period of her creative career she mainly performed songs in Italian, which was in demand among the audience. Having got a job with her future husband, she has since constantly felt his support and care.
He was by her side both in moments of glory and creative success, and when the doctors announced to her a terrible diagnosis. The singer was diagnosed with cancer. It was Latkovsky who helped her overcome the disease.
Civil marriage
If the joint biography of Andrei Latkovsky and Laima Vaikule developed so successfully over many years, why did they hesitate for so long to formalize their relationship?
It's all about the singer's pathological reluctance to be dependent on someone. Perhaps the main thing this independent woman values in her life is freedom and independence. That is why she was always the initiator of ensuring that their relationship was in no way fixed on paper.
The wedding ceremony of the lovers took place quite recently. After almost forty years of married life, they got married in Las Vegas. But, as you know, legally most countries do not recognize marital unions that are concluded in this city, because of how lenient they are with documents and formalities. The Russian Federation was no exception. Although Vaikule and Latkovsky officially got married, they are still considered single by the Russian authorities.
Legally, they are considered husband and wife only in Las Vegas itself.
Anastasia Zavorotnyuk and Peter Chernyshev
Anastasia Zavorotnyuk and Pyotr Chernyshev legalized their relationship in 2008. The newlyweds also did not delay the wedding - three weeks after the wedding they got married in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Foros (Crimea). The skater at that time professed Catholicism, but wanting to express his love and devotion to the actress, he married her according to the customs of Orthodox Christianity, thereby changing his confession.
Stormy youth
Today, recalling her youth, Vaikule admits that she led a very wild lifestyle at that time. She had a rebellious spirit seething inside her that urged her to try everything.
In her youth, the singer drank strong alcohol, smoked cigarettes, and even dabbled in drugs, which she now talks about with regret. At the same time, she notes that her early years occurred during the Soviet period, when it was extremely difficult to obtain these prohibited substances, much more difficult than today. This is probably why she did not ruin her health.
Her path to universal recognition was difficult and thorny. Often seemingly insurmountable difficulties arose, but she dealt with them. It became even easier when Andrei appeared, ready to support her in everything and always.
Natalya Podolskaya and Vladimir Presnyakov
The wedding of Natalia Podolskaya and Vladimir Presnyakov was expected in show business for a long time, and the lovers did not disappoint - it was celebrated noisily in 2010, but only family and friends were present at the celebration. This seemed not enough to the couple, and a month later they exchanged vows of allegiance before the servants of the Lord in the presence of loved ones. Natalya and Vladimir claim that they have experienced enough together and the wedding will only strengthen their union.
Under the same roof
The biography of Andrei Latkovsky, whose photo is in this article, has been directly related to Vaikule since 1978, when they began to live together. Over time, he officially became her producer, helping to resolve many financial and organizational issues, leaving the singer more time for creativity.
At the same time, all this time Vaikule always put her career first, not her family life. That is why she did not formalize the relationship and never had a child. Over the years spent with Andrei, Laima had two abortions, after which she could no longer give birth.
Laima Vaikule: personal life, biography
However, the young talent did not see herself as an artist, as she dreamed of becoming a professional doctor. In this regard, she graduated from eighth grade and entered medical school.
When Vaikula was fifteen years old, she became the main soloist of the capital's radio and TV orchestra. At that time, the creative team was managed by Raymond Pauls, who noticed great potential in Lime.
Already in the late 1970s, the singer performed at Juras Pearl. She did not immediately become a soloist; first she was tried out in a dance orchestra. The more often the girl performed on stage, the more she realized that it was necessary to move forward. Over time, she came to the conclusion that she needed to enter GITIS in order to become a true professional in her field. And indeed, Vaikula managed to get into this institution at the department of directing in 1984.
Trying to become a mother
Surprisingly, after 55 years, when Vaikule had achieved almost everything she dreamed of, she attempted to give birth. It is not known for certain whether Laima’s husband Andrei Latkovsky, whose biography is in this article, was the father, or whether he had to resort to artificial insemination.
But in the end everything ended in failure. Due to the singer’s busy work schedule, she suffered a miscarriage while on tour. I had to find solace in creativity. Two days after the incident, she returned to the stage.
Today, the lovers still live together, enjoying the time spent together.
Support and Support
Laima does not hide the fact that Andrei Latkovsky had a great influence on her life and, perhaps, even saved her from death . The fact is that the singer had a stormy youth. Having become famous and starting to tour, she began to lead a riotous lifestyle. Alcohol flowed like a river, the cigarette did not let go of his hands.
Laima even admitted that at one time she became addicted to drugs. She did not become a drug addict only because drugs were very difficult to get at that time.
The spirit of a rebel lived and still lives inside Laima. She sought to prove to the whole world that she was the best and could do anything. She coped with the difficulties that arose, but it was not easy for her. She gratefully accepted the help of Andrei, who began to manage her financial affairs and organize performances. This made Lima feel much better and she felt much needed support.
Together with Andrey, the singer had to overcome more than one difficulty. At the peak of her career, Lyma was diagnosed with a malignant tumor. She underwent treatment in America. All this time, my beloved husband was nearby. Together they managed to overcome the disease.
The singer returned to normal life, but her views changed dramatically. Now she began to carefully monitor her health, nutrition and the people with whom she had to communicate.
Another difficulty that the couple had to overcome was the lack of children. At the beginning of her career, Laima did not think about marriage or having children. She put all her strength into her work and strived for popularity. But the two abortions that took place did not go unnoticed. When the desire to have a child arose, Lima found out that she could not get pregnant.
It is worth noting that some people mistake her stylist Sergei for Vaikule’s husband. Laima Vaikule has many more photos with him on the Internet than with her husband.
Already, when the singer turned 55 years old, she decided to get pregnant using artificial insemination. And she succeeded. But, despite this, the singer had no intention of slowing down and working less. Due to her busy work schedule, she suffered a miscarriage. She found solace next to her beloved husband and in work , to which she returned within a few days.
