After resounding success, he disappeared from the screens: where is Vladimir Shevelkov now?

Vladimir Shevelkov: biography, childhood

The actor was born in St. Petersburg, which was then still called Leningrad. Vladimir Shevelkov was born in May 1961. As a child, his main passion was sports. Constant training prevented Volodya from paying due attention to his lessons. However, he got good grades in the subjects he liked. For example, Shevelkov was attracted to literature.

It is known that Vladimir began to be offered film roles when he was still in school. However, he refused to star in children's films because he could not imagine himself as an actor. In his dreams, the boy saw himself as a famous athlete, but this was not destined to come true.

Childhood and family

The future actor was born on May 8, 1961 in the Northern capital. The family was far from art. Mom, a native of the Tambov region, arrived in Leningrad and worked as a mechanic. After the birth of her son Andrei, Vova’s older brother, in 1957, she got a job as a cleaner in order to be able to raise her sons herself: she left to clean early in the morning, and from 8 o’clock she was at home with the children all day.

My father, who moved to Leningrad from the Tula region, worked at the Kirov plant as a turner, and later rose to the position of engineer. He constantly surprised his loved ones: he received a higher education in several specializations, and when his youngest son was 11 years old, he went to work in Iraq, was acquainted with Saddam Hussein himself, and also lived and worked in the USA.

The future actor was also a promising child. At the age of 5, Volodya started skating and played hockey and football with his brother. At his school No. 204 with an athletics focus, he could do pull-ups, run, and jump better than many of his peers and above the GTO standards.

Vladimir Shevelkov in his youth and now

The family lived in an ordinary communal apartment on the Field of Mars, next to the Hermitage, Summer Garden, and Marble Palace, where films were often filmed. What happened during filming fascinated young Shevelkov: when suddenly rails were laid on their street overnight, retro trams and revolutionary sailors appeared.

The beauty of his hometown and the magic of cinema influenced the formation of his artistic nature. He loved literature classes and read poetry well, but at that time he did not think about an acting career, but dreamed of becoming a lawyer. True, due to the high competition for the law faculty of Leningrad State University, the young man went to study at the Electrical Engineering Institute, entering there without much effort (his father, a teacher at LETI, interceded for him with a friend).

Among the important moments of his childhood, the artist recalled in an interview his mother’s admonition “kindness is worse than theft” and watching on TV in 1971 the film “The Life of Leonardo Da Vinci,” a painter, inventor, scientist. Then he realized that it is not necessary to focus on one profession - in order to succeed in life, it is important to be multifaceted, to have a breadth of interests and perceptions of the world, and not to focus on one thing.

Choice of profession

By the time he graduated from school, Vladimir Shevelkov had not yet decided on his choice of life path. He decided to continue his education at the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute, where he entered on the first try. While still in his first year, the charming student caught the eye of film studio directors. New acquaintances convinced Shevelkov to try his hand at the world of cinema.

In 1980, Vladimir dropped out of his studies at the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute. The young man moved to Moscow and became a student at VGIK. Andrei Gusev, Natalya Vavilova, Alim Kuliev and other future stars studied with him on the same course. After the fourth year, the student was expelled due to problems with attendance. The aspiring actor was actively acting in films, which did not allow him to devote much time to studies. A year later, Vladimir convinced the university authorities to allow him to retake his final exams. Thanks to this, he received a diploma from VGIK.

“I don’t want to be an actor!”

Volodya was born on May 8, 1961 in Leningrad. He grew up as a sporty boy, not paying much attention to schoolwork. True, I never forgot about literature, I especially loved poetry.

Since childhood, the boy received many invitations to film at the Leningrad Film Studio, but he always refused because he did not want to become an actor.

After receiving a school certificate, Shevelkov becomes a student at the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute. But the boy, apparently, was destined to become an actor. Thanks to the physical education teacher, Vladimir was recommended to the directors of the film studio. This is how he found himself in the magical world of cinema. Yes, at first he was overcome by star fever, but he quickly found a cure for it - work.

First roles

In 1979, Vladimir Shevelkov came to the set for the first time. His filmography began with the film “Grandma’s Grandson,” in which he played a cameo role. In the same year, the aspiring actor embodied the image of Harry Hartley in the mini-series “The Adventures of Prince Florizel.”

Shevelkov’s first serious achievement was the film in the drama “Please blame Klava K for my death,” aimed at a teenage audience. In this film, Vladimir brilliantly embodied the image of the key character Seryozha Lavrov. His hero is in love with a beautiful schoolgirl Klava, is ready to do anything for her and does not notice other girls at all. However, Lavrov’s insidious lover becomes interested in another guy, after which he decides to commit suicide.

Born on May 8, 1961 in Leningrad.
In 1978-1980 he studied at the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute.

He made his film debut in 1979, when he was a first-year student, playing in the film “Grandma’s Grandson.” And later, a physical education teacher approached him and suggested calling Lenfilm. At this time, the directors of the film “Please blame Klava K for my death.” Nikolai Lebedev and Ernest Yasan were looking for a boy to play the main role. Doubting, Vladimir nevertheless dialed the coveted number and received an invitation to audition. The success of the film exceeded all expectations, and the leading actor Vladimir Shevelkov, as they say, “woke up famous.” As expected, quick fame was accompanied by star fever. In the same year he played in the film “The Adventures of Prince Florizel”.

In 1980, he entered the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, in the workshop of Evgeny Semenovich Matveev, who eventually kicked Shevelkov out of the fourth year for being unsuitable for the job. At the time of his expulsion (1984), Shevelkov had 15 paintings behind him. Six of them have leading roles. With such baggage, it was somehow strange to “fly out” from the Institute of Cinematography for professional failure. But nevertheless, he received his diploma. A year passed, the State Examination Commission (SEC) met and gave Shevelkov a final “four”. “This was probably the most impudent state inspection in the entire history of VGIK,” recalled Vladimir.

After VGIK, he worked as a director on the “Business Russia” channel. Since 1984 - actor at the Lenfilm film studio.

However, real success fell on Vladimir Shevelkov after one of the main roles in the historical adventure film by Svetlana Druzhinina “Midshipmen, forward!” (1987). Although the actor did not star in the sequels of this film, he again met with his midshipman partner Sergei Zhigunov on the set of the films “Hearts of Three” and “Hearts of Three-2,” directed by Vladimir Popkov based on the novel of the same name by Jack London. The first film was based on a single script written by an American writer for Hollywood.

There is such a moment in his biography - working in a cafe with his older brother. From Volodin’s catering, the curve led him to Leningrad (then) television. And since 1989 he has been in the advertising business. Friends suggested. Started working in the commercial and advertising department. Films and TV series

Thanks to the role of Serezha Lavrov, Vladimir Shevelkov became a favorite of directors. Films and TV series with his participation appeared one after another. The actor played key and minor roles in the following film and television projects.

creative simple

After graduating from VGIK, Shevelkov was approved for some roles, but then he took a significant break in his work. But this is not due to the fact that he was no longer invited to the cinema: he realized that within the confines of the actor’s profession he was too cramped. In addition to filming films, Vladimir sang, wrote prose and poetry. And all this time he lived with dreams of directing, not wanting to limit his free spirit by simply embodying other people’s ideas in new images.

Shevelkov left cinema and for some time worked with his older brother in the family cafe “Dessert Hall”. But Leningrad Television gave the actor a helping hand.

He started working in the advertising business and managed to create programs. A little later, in the nineties, Vladimir filmed the famous videos “Remember the Main Thing” and several others. He also collaborated with Tatyana Bulanova, for whom he made several videos.

"Midshipmen, forward!"

Not at all thanks to filming in the Soviet drama “Please blame Klava K for my death.” actor Vladimir Shevelkov is known to modern viewers. The historical adventure mini-series “Midshipmen, Forward,” filmed by Svetlana Druzhinina, helped him experience the taste of real glory.

The events of the film unfold in troubled times of palace coups. Entire dynasties rise and fall in the ruthless struggle for power. The fates of temporary workers are broken, the throne is occupied by regicides. By the will of fate, three young cadets of the navigation school founded by Peter the Great are forced to take part in a dangerous conspiracy.

Vladimir Shevelkov convincingly played one of the main characters - Prince Nikita Olenev. This bright role allowed the stately and charismatic actor to be included in the lists of the most handsome men in the country. Of course, he gained thousands of fans. The reason why Shevelkov refused to take part in the continuation of the mini-series remained a mystery.

His film works

His debut took place in 1979, in the drama “Grandma’s Friend.” At the same time, he managed to play two more roles - Harry Hartley and Seryozha Lavrov. That's how he became famous. But he became truly popular eight years later, when he played Prince Olenev in the miniseries about midshipmen. Three friends who played friends in the movies - Shevelkov, Kharatyan and Zhigunov - literally woke up famous. Tall Vladimir was immediately included in the lists of the most beautiful men in the USSR.

He no longer starred in the continuation of the story, but a few years later the “midshipmen” reunited again: with Kharatyan and Zhigunov, Vladimir starred in the film “Hearts of Three.” Young millionaire Francis Morgan settled in the hearts of many women who looked with admiration at such a handsome man in a snow-white suit and an elegant hat. He sincerely fell in love with Leoncia, but tried to suppress his feelings, realizing that his new friend, Henry Morgan, had been in love with her for a long time and wanted to marry.

After this, viewers saw their favorite actor only 12 years later, when he worked on a series about operas, playing the starlet Pavel Ikonnikov.

In the 2000s, Shevelkov appears with enviable consistency in new projects. These include crime dramas, psychological sagas, melodramas, and love dramas. Now the actor’s popularity has become a little less, and from 2011 to 2014 the actor was not visible on television screens.

Then there was the main role in the Russian-Belarusian melodrama “Don’t Leave Me, Love.” Vladimir played Nikolai Alekseevich - the unexpectedly arrived from abroad loved one of the main character Lyuba (played by Yana Shivkova). She has lived alone for many years, loves Nikolai, and does not want to arrange her personal life. She gives all her tenderness to their common son Stepan (Nikita Stepanov).

  • "Mirrorball".
  • "The Trickster and the Hippoza."

Vladimir managed to attract the attention of the audience again thanks to filming in the mini-series “Hearts of Three”. The adventure film tells the story of a young millionaire Francis Morgan, who goes in search of an ancient treasure. Many centuries ago, the treasure was hidden by his distant pirate ancestor. The young man is kept company by his bankrupt distant relative Henry Morgan. Also, the young beauty Leoncia becomes a participant in this dangerous undertaking, with whom, of course, both heroes fall in love.

Vladimir Shevelkov, whose photo can be seen in the article, brilliantly played the rich man Francis Morgan. The actor embodied the same image in the continuation of the mini-series, which was presented to the audience in 1993.

Finding yourself

After filming the film “Hearts of Three 2,” Shevelkov made an unexpected decision to leave cinema. Vladimir decided that he no longer wanted to limit himself to this profession. He sang, wrote poetry and prose, dreamed of directing and did not want to deal exclusively with the embodiment of other people's ideas on the screen.

For some time after breaking up with cinema, Shevelkov worked at the Dessert Hall cafe, owned by his brother. Then he switched to cooperation with Leningrad Television, created the TV Effect and Musical Telephone programs, and shot many commercials.

From the biography of Vladimir Shevelkov it follows that he managed to declare himself as a creator of video clips. For example, he collaborated with singer Tatyana Bulanova, for whom he made videos for the songs “My Clear Light”, “My Beloved”, “Only You”, “So the Sun Has Set”.

Return

One day Shevelkov realized that he missed filming films and TV series. This thought pushed him to remind the audience of himself as an actor. In 2004, the first season of the series “Opera: Chronicles of Homicide” was released. The television project tells about the everyday life of employees of the “homicide department” of the St. Petersburg police department. Day after day, these people are forced to unravel complex cases, investigate contract killings, expose drug traffickers and pursue dangerous maniacs.
