Biography of Jean Reno

Jean Reno is one of the most popular and sought-after French actors in Hollywood. At first, because of his brutal appearance, the actor had to play mainly various undistinguished muscular villains. Only acting talent and the ability to endow a character with internal drama and psychologism helped Jean Reno rise to the very heights of his skill.

Childhood and youth

Jean Reno (real name Juan Moreno y Herrera Jimenez), although a star primarily of French cinema, few know that the famous actor is of Spanish origin.
And Jean was born in July 1948 in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, where his parents fled from Spanish Andalusia, fleeing the totalitarian regime of Franco. The refugee family lived in poverty bordering on destitution. My mother, a seamstress, took orders at home, but they were irregular, so my father, a typesetter in a printing house, was the main breadwinner. Usually he worked several shifts in a row and, returning home, went to bed. Both mother and son were afraid to wake him up: the father was a light sleeper, and in anger he could even raise his hand.

Jean Reno in childhood

So Jean got used to the fact that at home you need to move on tiptoe and talk in a whisper. It was more difficult for the child to come up with something to do. Simple toys, as soon as you picked them up, immediately woke up your father, but he had no yard friends. All that remained was to look at the pictures in the books, because he did not yet know how to read. Sometimes he looked out the window for a long time, watched passers-by and came up with his own story for each, plunging into fantasy worlds.

Jean Reno served in the French army

When Jean turned 17 years old, his mother died - then, for the sake of French citizenship, he went to serve in the French army. The father said a single parting phrase: “I hope you don’t go to jail.”

Path to glory

Reno's birthday was July 30th. The actor was born in the city of Casablanca, Morocco, where his parents came from Andalusia, Spain. From his Spanish roots he got the name Juan Moreno y Herrera Jimenez, which the actor shortened to Jean Reno, which is more consonant with the French ear.

Jean Reno

Although the dream of becoming a performer appeared in childhood, before realizing it, the actor served in the French army, worked in a grocery store and a tourist office. His film debut took place in 1978, when the surreal film “The Stolen Painting Hypothesis” from the filmography of Jean Reno was released . True, Reno’s role here was tiny, as in the subsequent film Light of a Woman with the star tandem of Yves Montand and Romy Schneider.

Other films with the participation of Jean Reno of that period also became a dead weight in Jean Reno's filmography, until in the early 80s he met the aspiring Luc Besson. He directed Jean in his first full-length work, The Last Battle, and as the director became more recognizable, Reno’s acting career rose.

Besson filmed Jean in many of his films; it is even more correct to note that the director shot most of his top films with the participation of Jean.

Full list of films with Jean Reno that are worth watching:

  • a thriller with elements of action and comedy, The Subway is the creation of the young and not yet very popular Besson, in which Reno plays a secondary role. A landmark film that launched two successful careers;
  • The semi-biographical Abyss Blue is Besson’s first English-language film aimed specifically at the world audience (read Hollywood) with Reno in the title role.   • the cult action movie Nikita from the filmography of Jean Reno, which marked the beginning of a whole series of remakes;
  • fantasy comedy Aliens, in which Zhen first appeared in a comical role. The film was expected to be a success, which led to the appearance of a second, no less successful part, and a third, as critics considered, clearly unnecessary in this story;
  • The cult crime thriller Leon is the “cherry” of the creative tandem of Besson and Reno and a real decoration of their filmographies. The film brought worldwide love to Jean, revealed young Natalie Portman to the general public and received seven César nominations, including Best Film, Best Actor and Best Director;

First roles

The service, which lasted a year and a half, was a complete disappointment. He waited until the last minute for letters from the girl he fell in love with shortly before the army, but in vain. During all this time, he did not receive a single package, even from his father, while his colleagues were regularly sent cigarettes, home-cooked food and warm clothes. After serving, he married a girl named Genevieve, and soon she bore him a son and a daughter.

Jean Reno's first role (The Stolen Painting Hypothesis, 1978)

From a young age, Jean dreamed of acting. He didn’t even think whether such a profession would support him. In Paris, the young man attended a theater school, where French film stars Didier Flamand and Claude Brasseur studied over the years. Jean (then Juan) tried to work in various ways to supplement the family budget - as a customs officer, as a driver, and as an accountant.

As soon as he finally dared to take the acting path, he immediately changed his name. Perhaps this date can be considered his second birthday, because then Jean Reno was born - the one who is known and loved by millions of fans around the world.

Jean Reno in his youth

Passionate about theater, Jean decided to take lessons at Rene Simon's acting studio and already in 1974 he first appeared in television productions, and later made his debut on the theatrical stage of “Ecce Homo”. His screen debut was the television series “One Mystery a Day” and the detective story “The Stolen Painting Hypothesis.”

Jean Reno at the beginning of his career

For the next five years, Reno starred exclusively in episodic roles in unnoticeable films. Because of his height and simply impressive build, Reno most often had to play all sorts of big men and bouncers. Naturally, such work did not suit him - he understood that he was marking time.

Family and childhood of Jean Reno

Jean Reno's date of birth is July 30, 1948. The actor comes from a Spanish family that left their homeland during the reign of Caudillo Franco and settled in North Africa. In search of work, Jean's parents ended up in Casablanca, the large Moroccan city where he was born, where he spent most of his childhood.

When Jean turned twelve, he and his family moved to Europe and they settled in Marseille. Here the father of the future famous actor worked in a printing house. Jean's mother, who died when he was 17 years old, worked as a dressmaker all her life. The actor also had a younger sister, Maria Teresa. From an early age, Jean dreamed of an acting career and, once in Paris, he immediately began going to drama school, whose graduates included such famous French actors as Claude Brasseur, Didier Flamand and others.

The boy's idols were the great actors of that time - Jean Gabin, Louis Jouvet, Marlon Brando, whose films he never missed to watch. The performances of these masters inspired him to choose acting as a profession. Moreover, he had an innate sense of humor and enjoyed making everyone laugh. After the death of his mother, in order to obtain French citizenship, he was forced to join the army, where he served for two years and was responsible for entertainment activities in the unit. The special training course he took during his military service helped him later play tough guys in movies.

Meet Luc Besson

In many ways, what matters in acting is luck and meeting the “right” director. Jean Reno was lucky - on the threshold of his fortieth birthday he met Luc Besson. In 1981, Besson directed Reno in his first film, the short film “The Penultimate,” and two years later in “The Last Battle,” and unexpectedly by that time he found a friend and like-minded person in the actor.

Still from the film “The Last Battle”

In 1985, the role of the drummer in Luke's film Subway, which also starred Isabelle Adjani and Christopher Lambert, slightly propelled Reno up the career ladder.

Jean Reno was lucky to meet the “right” director - Luc Besson

Then Reno began to act more actively with other directors, starring in the films “I Love You” and “Red Zone” in 1986. Finally, he got the main role in Luc Besson’s drama “Abyss Blue.” Jean managed to delicately play a diver who put his own life on the line for the sake of the championship title and victory over his friend. For this work, Jean Reno was nominated for the main French film award “Cesar”.

The actor almost died on the set of Abyss Blue. At Besson's request, he had to jump into the water and slowly swim to the bottom. But despite training with experienced divers, Jean became disoriented, panicked, tore off his mask and began to drown. Only the thought of his wife and children gave him strength, and he managed to find the strength to swim to the surface. Having recovered, he met with Besson, and he said: “In principle, the take came out quite well. It’s just your facial expression... Have you forgotten that you have to swim with a smile?”

In 1990, the world was literally blown up by Besson’s action movie about a killer girl, “Her Name was Nikita” - this had never been seen in cinema before. The lead actress, Anne Parillaud, instantly became a world star, and Jean Reno also proved himself well - it was in this legendary film that he first tried on the role of a professional killer. Since then, many began to call him “the best killer of the silver screen.”

Jean Reno and Anne Parillaud in the film “Her Name was Nikita”

So it is not surprising that after this successful work, Jean was inundated with invitations to play the role of murderers. But the actor did not agree, because he believed that playing villains was a trap and some kind of conveyor belt that would deprive him of development. However, the image of the psychopathic cleaner created by the actor in Nikita impressed Besson so much that he decided to dedicate an entire film to him. Reno's character died in such a way that audiences left theaters in tears.

Many began to call Jean Reno “the best killer of the silver screen”

It was this ambiguous and complex hero who found his continuation in Besson’s famous crime drama “Leon” (1994). This role of an illiterate, unshaven and lonely killer brought 45-year-old Jean worldwide fame and remained one of the best and certainly the most heartfelt in his career.

In addition to the fact that the film and Reno himself received Cesar nominations (while for some reason not receiving a single award), this English-language work opened the way to Hollywood for Luc Besson and Jean Reno. Then everyone was surprised by both Gary Oldman in the role of a charismatic psychopathic villain, and a very young Natalie Portman in the image of a girl who was mature beyond her years. Leon. Fragment Before this film, Jean managed to become a star in his homeland - in 1993, Reno, together with Christian Clavier, played in the fantastic comedy “Aliens” about the adventures of a medieval knight and his servant in modern France, for which he received another Cesar nomination. A few years later, the film had two sequel films, in one of which the funny characters came to America. By that time (1998), the States happily accepted Jean Reno in other roles.

Hollywood

The first work in Hollywood was the famous spy action movie “Mission: Impossible” with Tom Cruise. It appeared on screens in 1996, and viewers enjoy watching it today. Fame fell upon the actor instantly, and became a big and pleasant surprise for him.

After this, sentences rained down on the French one after another. Luc Besson wrote the script for The Fifth Element specifically for Jean Reno, but the producers insisted that Bruce Willis be cast in the lead role.

But fate has prepared other opportunities for the actor to realize himself. A year later, the blockbuster “Godzilla” appeared on the screens with Reno in the title role, for which he even refused to play Agent Smith in “The Matrix.” Roland Emmerich's apocalyptic film about saving New York did not cause enthusiasm among critics, but Jean Reno needed big-budget projects to gain a foothold in Dreamland.

The most serious work of this time for the actor was the role of Vincent in the 1998 film “Ronin”, where Robert De Niro became his partner. The audience simply could not take their eyes off the character of Jean, who, as always, was a silent professional on the verge of death.

In 2000, viewers saw the new French thriller with Jean Reno, “Crimson Rivers,” which made many people’s blood run cold. The actor played an experienced police officer who, with his partner, investigates the brutal murders of girls in the mountains near Grenoble.

Reno later admitted that filming was very exhausting and stressful for him, since the film crew had to work at high altitudes in glaciers. When the film was released, the actor was already 52 years old and, in his opinion, all the sacrifices were worth it - the film came out impeccable in its genre. The success of the thriller prompted director Matthieu Kassovitz to create a sequel to the film.

At the beginning of the new century, Jean got the main role in the action comedy film Wasabi. Despite a good script and idea, the film failed at the box office. Reno played a French policeman who went on assignment to distant Japan.

This was followed by work in the films “The Unlucky” with Gerard Depardieu, and another work with Christian Clavier - “The Corsican”.

Reno made a spectacular return to Hollywood in 2006, starring in the historical adventure drama Lafayette Escadrille with James Franco, the comedy The Pink Panther with Stephen Martin, and the acclaimed thriller The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou. Reno gladly accepted the offer to star in the film adaptation of Dan Brown's novel, even though this book, and later the film, was criticized by the Vatican.

A worldwide hit with the participation of the French actor was the action movie “22 Bullets: Immortal” (2010), where the actor played a French godfather who decided to take revenge on his offenders. In 2016, Reno starred in the historical melodrama “The Promise” with Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac. 22 bullets. Excerpt In 2020, together with the star of Paolo Sorrentino's film "The Great Beauty" Tony Servillo, Jean Reno starred in the thriller "The Girl in the Fog", which the audience really liked. In the same year, the actor took part in the French-Chinese project - the action film "The Adventurers", where he played his signature role of a detective. Interview with Jean Reno The actor never forgot about his passion for the theater: for example, at different times he played in the production of “Magnificent Occasions” at the Edward VII Theater in Paris and staged “Manon Lescaut” at the Turin Opera. He still desperately wants to be in the role of Othello, King Lear and Falstaff.

New Age

In the early 2000s, the actor once again demonstrated his talents in the psychological thriller Crimson Rivers. It was so successful that the writers immediately began writing a sequel. Filming took place at high altitudes and in glaciers, sometimes it was very difficult to work. But Reno brilliantly coped with all the tasks assigned, despite his age (at that time he was already 52 years old).

In 2001, Hollywood filmed a remake of the French comedy Aliens. The new version also stars Jean Reno along with his partner Christian Clavier. The same year, the film Wasabi was released. In 2003, the comedy “Unlucky” was released, in which the actor appeared together with Gerard Depardieu.

In the new century, Reno managed to star in many films. The most popular among them were the films “The Corsican”, “The Pink Panther”, “Empire of the Wolves” and “The Da Vinci Code”. The director of the last film first invited Jean, and then consulted with him about the selection of the remaining actors. In 2014, the tragicomedy “Hector’s Journey in Search of Happiness” appeared on screens. In it, the actor played a minor character.

Reno appeared in the theater several times. From 1977 to 1981 He worked for Didier Flamin, then performed a role in the production of “Magnificent Occasions” at the Edward VII Theater. He independently staged Manon Lescaut at the Turin Opera at the request of a tenor he knew.

Personal life of Jean Reno

Jean Reno was married three times and had six children in total.
In his youth, a young man with an interesting appearance had no shortage of female attention. According to the actor, having fallen in love with a girl, he first of all thought about marriage. This is because “product number 1” was in short supply during his youth, and the risk of unwanted pregnancy was higher than carnal urges. In addition, morals in Casablanca were strict and patriarchal: fathers and older brothers stood guard over the “purity” of their daughters. So Jean, then Juan, could court a lady for several months without encroaching on her honor, limiting himself to going to dances and movies, and modest kisses, or even holding hands.

Jean Reno in his youth

The actor's first true love ended sadly. Shortly before being sent to the army, he proposed to the beautiful Catherine, and she agreed. He left confident that in 18 months they would be together. As a farewell, Catherine gave him a small bottle of perfume, and Jean stretched it out for the entire year and a half of service, but he never received a letter from her. Later, while walking through the “places of military glory,” he noticed Katrin and called out, but she pretended that she did not recognize him.

In 1977, he proposed to a woman named Genevieve, and their daughter Sandra was born that same year. Three years later, their son Mikael was born. Sandra became an actress under the name Moreno so that no one would know about her relationship (“She chose the hard path, but she is moving in the right direction, no matter what,” her father proudly declared in an interview), and her son sings (“ He sings like a god,” Jean emphasizes, “without knowing it, he resumed a family tradition, my grandfather was an opera singer”).

Jean Reno's eldest children: Sandra and Mikael

There is little information about the occupation and origin of Jean Reno's first wife. Their relationship began to deteriorate in the late 80s, when Jean had luck in the acting field. He began to visit home less and less, the children missed their dad, but Jean could not miss this once-in-a-lifetime chance. Genevieve went to see him on the set of “The Blue Abyss”, begged him to pay at least a little attention to the family, and a few days before the end of work on the film she called and dryly told him: “Everything is of course.”

He moved away from his family, settled in a hotel, and waited - without even understanding why. Work on "Abyss Blue" spilled over into the editing room, and the film's fate was uncertain. The actor suffered from the same uncertainty: what will happen next? Where should he live? Was it in vain that he sacrificed everything he had? He drowned these thoughts in alcohol, and after drinking, he got behind the wheel and drove along the night highway, fearlessly looking into the face of death.

After the success of “Abyss Blue,” everything changed, and women themselves began to seek meetings with the charismatic movie star. But his second wife was a girl who did not recognize Jean Reno even when he, after walking several kilometers behind her, asked: “Don’t you really recognize me? I am Jean Reno!

Jean Reno and his second wife

The girl, Polish model Natalia Dyshkevich, hardly agreed to a date in a coffee shop, but at the end of the evening she changed her anger to mercy and gave her new acquaintance her phone number. In 1996, their son Tom appeared, and in 1998, daughter Serena. In 2001, the couple broke up.

Five years later, Jean Reno married another ex-model and aspiring actress, Sofia Boruka, 24 years younger than him.

The best man at their wedding was Nicolas Sarkozy (at that time he was not the President of France, but the Minister of the Interior). Sarkozy and Reno are neighbors and good friends.

A couple of years later, Sofia gave birth to her first child from Jean, who was named Cielo, and then, in 2011, to her second child, Dean, whom Reno was looking forward to.

Jean Reno with his wife and children

The actor is crazy about his children: in order to spend more time with his family, he starred in no more than two films a year. Disappointment for fans and directors - and joy for the wife and children.

Jean Reno married for the third time

The search for happiness took the protagonist of the best action films, Besson, to the depths of the south of France, away from crowds of fans. Here, in a medieval village, the wedding was celebrated like a family, although not without Hollywood glamor. And how can you manage without him when among the guests are Brad Pitt, Ron Howard, director of The Da Vinci Code, and the main “Pirate of the Caribbean” Johnny Depp. In the city hall of the picturesque town of Beau-de-Provence, built in the 16th century, as always, the elegantly unshaven “Leon” gave his hand and heart to 35-year-old French-American Zofia Boruka, an actress and fashion model.

The bride, as expected, looked damn beautiful in a long cream dress. Against her background, the main sex symbol of France also blossomed and in some ways even looked younger.

After a short wedding ceremony, the mayor of the town declared Zhan and Zofia husband and wife to the joyful applause of six dozen guests and a couple of equally stellar witnesses. One is the absolute leader in popularity on the French stage, showman and singer Johnny Holiday, all in white, who specially took off from a mega tour across the country to marry his boyfriend. The other, the current Minister of the Interior and the main candidate for future President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, on the contrary, was in a dark suit, despite the heat, and added seriousness to the whole event. However, the “wedding general” joked all the time and willingly posed for “admitted” photographers with various guests.

Probably, at the instigation of the minister, the entire village was cordoned off by gendarmes. Everyone was admitted strictly using passes, to the great disappointment of tourists and neighbors of Jean Reno, whose villa is located not far from Beau. Yes, in fact, Sarkozy himself, also almost a “neighbor in the dacha,” lives nearby: here, of course, is not Rublevskoye Highway, but the place is beautiful and there are plenty of famous homeowners.

After a short snack, the entire procession headed to the local church on Saturday afternoon. Although this is not the first time for a marriage, the local priest agreed to consecrate the ceremony: the groom is very famous. And the main celebrations took place in the evening at the popular restaurant "Usto de Beaumanier", where European stars also came - Elton John, Vanessa Paradis, old Charles Aznavour. "Cotedurons" and other good French wines flowed like a river. The wedding went on non-stop all night, smoothly turning into the celebration of the groom's birthday. On July 30, Jean Reno turned 58 years old, and everyone joyfully rushed to a giant picnic arranged in nature.

PRIVATE BUSSINESS

Born Don Juan MORENO (this is the real name of the French movie star) on July 30, 1948 in Casablanca. His Spanish parents fled to Morocco from the fascist regime of Franco. He moved to France at the age of 17. He became famous for his roles in Luc Besson’s films “The Last Battle”, “Underground”... One of the highest-grossing European actors, Reno is also in demand in Hollywood. From two wives he has four children: two sons and two daughters.

The path to Jean's heart (advice for the newlywed)

When the actor comes to Paris, he always visits a friend who makes artichoke and truffle soup. Perhaps it would be useful for Zofia Boruka to know: when this soup is prepared with garlic, Jean Reno forgets about everything.

* * *

Well, ladies, another luxurious man got married and met another supermodel. The story would seem completely banal, but Jean Reno’s chosen one is not a nineteen-year-old starlet. This is an experienced starlet who, until she was thirty-five, had never played anything more important than roles with the line “Eating is served.” Somewhere in one of the episodes of “Sex and the City” she portrayed a waitress, and somewhere else her role was called completely uninterestingly - “a woman on a train.” In general, ladies, we are once again convinced that it is not career success that will help us find our prince charming. But the most gratifying thing about this story is that we can rejoice if only because:

a) Jean Reno’s chosen one is not as young as the sexy babes to whom Russian oligarchs are reaching out;

b) she is not a banal platinum blonde with capricious callogen lips.

Contemplating photographs of the beautiful, but completely earthly Zofia, we understand: she is one of us. Well, she may be a fashion model, but this is not some celestial Klava Schiffer, whose name has already stuck on everyone’s lips. And when Jean Reno says that it is important for him “to wake up next to a person with whom you feel extraordinarily good,” you can’t help but believe him.

Actually, Jean Reno is a thorough person. About three years ago, I personally had the good fortune to communicate with this superman and now I will report: despite all the films in which the hero seems like an impregnable rock, Jean looks extremely intelligent. He slouches a little, he squints his eyes myopically, he is polite and shy. And with what delight he talked about the quiet town near Los Angeles, where he bought a house and where not a single resident ever asks him questions about cinema! However, this was even before The Da Vinci Code, which caused global hysteria.

Now the marriage of this man, who shot the population of a couple of small countries in the movies, is causing hysteria.

Did the actor beat his second wife?

A wedding is a wedding, but in fact Reno only legitimized his relationship with a 35-year-old Romanian model, whom he met on the set of the comedy “The Pink Panther” (in the credits of which Zofia’s name, however, is not present). They have been together for the second year and have never hidden their relationship, regularly attending film premieres and Parisian fashion shows.

Brutal Renault has always loved fashion. And models. His former wife, Polish Natalya Dyshkevich, also walked the catwalk. There are many rumors about the personal life of the famous performer of the roles of police officers and hired killers. Secular Parisian ladies claim, for example, that Reno beat his former Polish wife and this was the reason for their divorce. Perhaps Reno sometimes confused film work and family life.

Shortly before a joyful event in the actor’s life, I interviewed him in Paris.

— Do you like the roles of tough guys on screen and in life?

- Why do you think so? I don't like cruelty at all. It’s just that I look like such a large, brutal man, so they offer me such roles. Let's say, in the new French thriller "Empire of the Wolves" I play a completely crazy maniac with bleached hair - an extremely cruel bastard. But I myself prefer to act in comedies! I'm telling you, darkness is not my thing.

Coming home after filming a comedy is much more pleasant than after working in films where you have to kill people. You play some kind of Freddy Krueger and come home all tense, you begin to take this out on your innocent family. Or a dog. Shooting action films is generally hard technical work...

— Not all French actors have such a successful career in Hollywood.

- That's for sure. Maybe it's because I was born in Morocco? However, I feel like I am 100% French, although I have absorbed many different cultures.

— How do you think fame and glory help an actor become better?

- How about a person? Of course not! Cinema gives privileges, provides advantages over other people. Money, fame, clothes, cars, lands - you get everything! But does this make you any better? I'm sure not!

WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?

The father of many children, Reno, and his own offspring do not appear at all in front of photographers. Either he is embarrassed, or he is afraid to destroy the image of such a languid male, not adapted to a tight family life.

His daughter from his first marriage, Sandra, is now 28 and lives in Paris. The son from his first marriage, 26-year-old Mikael, graduated from the New York Conservatory, he sings well and writes poetry.

Children from his second marriage, 10-year-old Tom and 8-year-old Serena, live with their mother in Paris.

AND AT THIS TIME

Pamela Anderson got married...

39-year-old sex bomb Pamela Anderson, star of “Baywatch,” married rap musician Kid Rock on Saturday. However, the loving model met her chosen one not just on the eve of the wedding. The owner of the most popular Playboy bust has been living with the 35-year-old rocker for a long time and even gave birth to a child from him. She was even planning to walk down the aisle with him in 2002, but changed her mind. But you can’t deceive your heart, and so on board their yacht in the Saint-Tropez roadstead, a romantic couple tied themselves into family ties forever.

The previous three times, Mademoiselle Anderson married the same man - Tommy Lee, also a rock musician and Kid's friend. She and Tommy first got married in February 1995 and divorced a year later. A month later they got married again, and in 1998 they divorced again. The third time this happened was in 1999 and did not last long. During these three “walks,” Pamela gave birth to two offspring from Lee.

...and Renata Litvinova got divorced!

The divorce proceedings between Renata Litvinova and businessman Leonid Dobrovsky dragged on for six months. It all started with a scandal: Renata’s husband did not like the constant rumors about the too close friendly ties between his wife and her bosom friend Zemfira Ramazanova. Dobrovsky even wanted to take his five-year-old daughter Ulenka away from his wife. But Renata managed to convince the court that the child should remain with his mother.

The actress did not lose out. The court recognized her right to three quarters of a 130-meter apartment in an elite building and ordered her ex-husband to pay 120 thousand rubles monthly as alimony. Renata also won three quarters of the underground garage area.

After the divorce, Renata and her daughter settled with her mother near the Babushkinskaya metro station.

Jean Reno now

Jean Reno remains true to himself and plays mainly in French films, maintaining his individuality and European style.
In 2020, the action movie “Legacy: Frozen Blood” was released with Jean Reno in the title role. The film fell into the middle of the ranking of the 25 lowest rated films of 2020. The actor again plays a hitman, but, according to viewers, neither his acting nor director Frédéric Petitjean brought absolutely anything new to this genre.

Reno's genre in the film "Legacy: Frozen Blood"

Currently, several films with the participation of this wonderful actor are in the development stage - this is “Fantômas”, where Vincent Cassel will also star, the war drama “Waiting for Anya”, where Noah Schapp will play one of the main roles, and the melodrama “The Man Who Saved Paris” with Stanley Tucci.

Jean Reno continues to act, but in no more than two films a year.
It is known that in the uncertain future Jean Reno will appear in the company of the Hollywood beauty Ruby Rose in the action film “The Gatekeeper.”

Nexia I[ | ]

Nexia first generation
Daewoo Nexia is a descendant of the Opel Kadett, which was born after the modernization of the Daewoo Racer model in 1994. On the South Korean market, the model is known as Daewoo Cielo. Soon the car was discontinued from production in South Korea. Since 1996, Nexia has been produced at Daewoo branches (subsidiaries) in various countries. Cars from Uzbekistan were supplied to Russia and neighboring countries through the UzDaewoo network of GM Uzbekistan. From 1996 to 1998, large-scale assembly of this model from Korean vehicle kits was carried out by the Doninvest financial and industrial group in Rostov. Until 2016, the car was produced in full cycle only in Uzbekistan, in the city of Asaka, Andijan region. Some of the components, including steel for the body elements, were supplied from Russia from the Severstal enterprise.

The car was produced with a sedan body. The car was sold in two main trim levels: the basic GL and the extended GLE (in dealer terminology, the “luxury” trim level). The expanded package included both an improved appearance (decorative wheel caps, nameplates, tinted athermal glass within the limits of GOST 5727-88, a sun strip on the windshield, painted bumpers) and a number of devices for comfort (improved soft door trim, tachometer, electric windows, electric central locking on all doors). The car could be equipped with air conditioning and power steering. Nexia from 1996 to 2002 was equipped with a 1.5-liter G15MF engine with a power of 55 kW (75 hp) which had a gas distribution mechanism with two valves per cylinder and one overhead camshaft (SOHC). This engine was basic and practically copied the engine from the Opel Kadett E.

In 2002, the first restyling of the already Uzbek version of the car was carried out; in addition to many external changes to the body, Nexia received a more modern engine, which is essentially a modernization of the obsolete G15MF. To increase power to 63 kW (85 hp), the gas distribution mechanism was made double-shaft (DOHC), the number of valves per cylinder was increased to four, and the ignition, fuel injection, and cooling systems were radically changed. The engine was assigned the index A15MF. The increased power capacity of the model required modifications to the chassis and braking system. Models with the A15MF engine were equipped with 14-inch wheels. With the introduction of a catalytic converter and regulation of the mixture composition using λ-probe signals, both engines began to meet Euro-2 toxicity requirements and were produced until 2008.
