Sakis Rouvas admitted what the past year was like for him

early years

At the age of 10, Sakis Rouvas (biography, personal life are presented below) made his debut on the theater stage in the production of I Karharies Itan Anthropi. This work was followed by others. In addition, the boy independently learned to play the guitar and became interested in foreign pop music.

When Sakis was going through the difficulties of adolescence, his parents divorced. He and his brother were forced to move to another part of the island of Corfu, where their paternal grandparents lived. Soon Kostas married for the second time, and Sakis Rouvas (information about his biography, wife and children is posted below) had to go to work so as not to be a burden to his family.

Information, biography, notes, photos

Sakis Rouvas
is a very popular Greek singer and showman, full name
Anastasios Rouvas (Αναστάσιος Ρουβάς)
. Please note that the emphasis in his surname falls on the second syllable, and not on the first - Ruvaaas.

Sakis Rouvas

born on the island of Corfu (Kerkyra) on January 5, 1972.
They write that when her mother gave birth to Sakis, she was a teenager, which means she was no more than 19 years old. She worked at the local airport in the Duty Free department, and Sakis's
was an ambulance driver.
The family was poor, and there were three younger brothers, whom Sakis took care of while their parents were at work. Sakis
was already involved in sports at the age of 4, attended ballet lessons, at the age of 10 he participated in a theater production, his colleagues were delighted with his acting talent.
Later, Sakis Rouvas
became interested in music, taught himself to play the guitar, and really liked Elvis Presley.

When Sakis
was 12 years old, his parents divorced, and he and his brother Tolis were sent to live with their grandparents.
There Sakis
worked to support his family, repaired cars, was a builder, and a bartender.
He didn’t like school, especially reading and writing, and upon his arrival in Moscow for Eurovision he claimed that his favorite Russian writers were Dostoevsky and Chekhov. Since Sakis
worked during the day in those years, he attended evening school, where his mother, who had no school education, also went.

At the age of 15 Sakis Rouvas

entered the Greek gymnastics team, he had fairly good results, and he himself idolized Sergei Bubka.
Sakis
continued to engage in athletics until the age of 18, although it was difficult to earn money this way, so he relied more on music.
For the first time Sakis Rouvas
sang at his graduation, these were songs by Elvis and the Beatles, and later began performing in local clubs and hotels.

Soon he himself moved to Patras due to family problems, and there he met Dakis, the first person who helped him professionally. According to his recommendations, Rouvas

went to Athens and performed at the Show Center, where he attracted attention with his vocal and physical abilities, his stage presence, and soon Yorgos Pavrianos became his producer.
After moving to Athens, Sakis
lived with an older woman; they began dating in Corfu, but their relationship ended after meeting Pavrianos;
Rouvas
began to pay great attention to his career.
A few months later, Sakis Rouvas
performed at the song vestifal in Thessaloniki, where he lost only one point in the category “Best Vocal” to the rising star Yorgos Alkeos, but still won at the end of the competition, because his song “Πάρ' τα” (“Take them away”) ", translation below) became "Best Composition".
The day after the competition Sakis Rouvas
released his first album, the song “Παρ'τα” became a hit, was constantly played on radio stations, fans appeared, girls began to go crazy about him, etc. In general, even now it is mainly popular among the female segment of the population. That's how it all began.

When Sakis Rouvas
was working on his fourth album and when he was 22 years old, he was drafted into the army, he wanted to get a deferment, but he was not given it, and this topic was widely discussed in the press.
At the same time Rouvas
stated that he had it, but most people thought that it was strange for a pop artist to have such a disease, and in general he was simply looking down from the army.
Sakis
some time in a psychiatric hospital, where he attempted to commit suicide.
He was drafted into the army anyway, but a psychotherapist was always present nearby so that Sakis
would not do anything to himself again.
In the army, his earring had to be removed, and all his long hair was cut off (this can be seen in the video, and in the photo next to it is Sakis
in 1996).
Paparazzi entered the barracks to take more mocking photographs. Sakis Rouvas'
producer at the time, Psinakis, accused the psychotherapist of giving
Sakis
psychotropic substances.
In general, Sakis
went through this, and later began to reasonably claim that in the army he changed and learned to overcome a lot.

On May 19, 1997, the UN organized a concert on the Green Line dividing the Greek and Turkish parts of Cyprus, the concert was intended as a pacifist event demonstrating the commonality of the two cultures, mainly for young people, tickets were distributed free of charge.
Sakis Rouvas
participated on the Greek side , modern singer Burak Kut participated on the Turkish side, the concert went well,
Sakis Rouvas
and Burak Kut even hugged on stage, diplomats, politicians, etc. were also present, but despite this, riots began, at both sides.
And all because the day of the concert, May 19, for Turkey is the day of youth, the day of their prominent figure. On this day, Kemal Ataturk announced mobilization against foreign intervention (England, Italy, France and Greece), and at the same time this day is considered his birthday. For Greece, this day is the day of remembrance by the Turks
, the day when all Greeks mourn this.
Naturally, the Greeks were offended by Rouvas
, there were active protests (5-6 thousand people), up to the use of tear gas by the police and arrests.
against Rouvas
, he was accused of treason - if he is Greek, he should understand such things, despite the statements of both singers “we are singers, not politicians.”
The Turkish side made an attempt on the life of Burat Kut and called on the Turkish Cypriots to organize a boycott. But as a result, both performers were awarded the Abdi Ipekci Friendship and Peace Journalist Prize. At the same time, although it is called international, it is given to Turkish and Greek public and political figures for strengthening and improving Greek-Turkish relations, and Abdi Ipekci is the name of a Turkish journalist who was for Greek-Turkish relations, but was killed by a Turk. On November 2, 2008, Sakis Rouvas
gave birth to a daughter, Anastasia, and
Sakis
dedicated the song Ήρθες (“You have come” (“You have come”) to her, there is a translation below), on October 15, 2011, a son, Alexandros, and on January 3, 2013, a daughter, Ariadne (
Sakis
chose so that the names begin with letter "a").
In general, Sakis Rouvas has 4 children. Their mother is the famous fashion model Katya Ziguli, their relationship with Sakis
began with a Vodaphone commercial where she slaps him.
Throughout their relationship, they came together and then diverged; in 2007, reports appeared in the press that his relationship with Ziguli had come to an end because he became interested in model Vanessa Hessler. A year later Rouvas
and Ziguli got back together, and Katya announced her pregnancy.
Rouvas’s
wife , there was still no wedding, although they were talking about it a couple of years ago, but she showed off her wedding ring after the birth of her daughter.
At one time they promised to arrange a wedding in 2011, but Sakis
did not answer questions like “Who do you want Katya - your wife or the mother of your child,” citing the fact that he did not want to comment on his personal life.
One of the popular topics in the newspapers at that time was that it seemed that Katya was the reason for the termination of Rouvas’
with Ilias Psinakis.
Sakis Rouvas'
producer for 12 years (that is, most of
Rouvas's
), known for his scandalous jokes and the fact that he was and is considered officially gay, which is why a shadow has always fallen on
Sakis
.
Right down to the talk about their secret marriage and pictures of Katya kissing Sakis
, and the caption - “darling, not now, Psinakis will see us.”
Although there are also such rumors about Antonis Remos, and he is a friend of Rouvas
.
However, being gay is fashionable now, and “any PR is better than none.” Currently, both Psinakis and Rouvas
claim that they have a good relationship, meet on holidays, are friends, but they will not work together.
Indeed, Sakis Rouvas
is already an established star, and Psinakis has found a new young boy - Kostas Martakis.

Sakis Rouvas

competed twice, representing Greece, the first time in 2004 (3rd place), the second - 2008 (7th place).
In 2004, I literally sang with Phillip Kirkorov =) Sakis Rouvas
starred in a couple of films, one of which I accidentally saw him a couple of years ago and started watching, the film was not good, although I did not understand the language.
In general, I watched everything and thought - is it this famous Greek singer or not, or is he, but he is a singer, not an actor... or not him... In short, he is =) But he doesn’t look much like himself. Sakis Rouvas
also released his own clothing line, and in general manages not only to sing, but also to do business and charity.

Choice of profession

Family problems did not prevent the young man from becoming a member of his country’s national pole vault team. But the young man was attracted by the stage, and he decided to devote himself to music.

Already in high school, singer Sakis Rouvas, whose biography today inspires hope for success in thousands of Greek boys and girls from poor families, began performing in front of classmates, performing world-famous hits of the Beatles and Elvis Presley.

After school, the young man sang for some time in hotels and nightclubs, and at the age of 17 he left for Patras, hoping to become a famous artist.

Scandal

Interestingly, while working on Aima, Dakrua kai Idrotas, Rouvas was called up for military service. The young man asked the military department for a deferment in order to be able to complete work on this project. However, his request was rejected. Then information leaked to the press that Rouvas demanded to be exempted from military service, citing the fact that he suffers from a rare mental illness - agoraphobia. The singer was sent to a psychiatric hospital in Penteli to assess his mental health, where he was rumored to have attempted suicide. Be that as it may, Sakis still had to repay his debt to the Motherland, and he was very worried that he was forced to part with his long hair and take off his earring. Throughout his military service, he was closely followed by paparazzi, and he gave interviews to the press several times.

After the army

Fortunately, a short stay in the ranks of the Greek armed forces did not affect the career of Sakis Rouvas, whose biography is always the object of close attention of journalists. In 1996, he released his next music album, Tora Arhizoun Ta Diskola, which went gold. He was invited to perform in one of the prestigious nightclubs of the Greek capital together with Anna Vissi, and fans of his work opened the SRFC fan club, which became one of the largest in Greece.

In 1997, Rouvas recorded the song Se Thelo, Me Thelis. This duet with Anna Vissi was included in the singer’s album called Travma and was a great success.

In the spring of 1997, Sakis Rouvas (see below for biography, children and wife) took part in a UN action organized with the aim of reconciling the warring parties to the smoldering territorial conflict in Cyprus. Rouvas performed on the same stage together with the Turkish singer Burak Kut, calling to forget about the enmity.

The result of this event was the awarding of the international Ipeksi prize to Sakis, which had previously been awarded to many prominent politicians. However, some Greek organizations and media accused Rouvas of treason.

The end of the 90s was marked for the singer with the release of his fifth album and collaboration with the record label.

A real event in the musical life of Athens in 1998 was the release of the album Kati apo Mena. For its presentation, a live concert was organized in one of the largest and most popular music stores in Athens. The album went gold and a little later platinum.

1993−2000: Further success

In the winter of 1994, in collaboration with Nikos Karvelas and Natalia Germanou, he recorded the fourth album “Aima, Dakrua kai Idrotas” (Blood, Tears and Sweetness), which later became platinum. The songs “Ela Mou” (Come to Me) and Ksama (Again) have become very popular, and not a single concert is complete without their performance. Sakis was later drafted into the army. In 1996, he released a new album, “Tora Arhizoun Ta Diskola” (Now Hard Times Begin), which went gold. He again collaborates with Nikos and Natalia, and later performs with Anna Vissi in one of the nightclubs. In the same year, Sakis' fan club "SRFC" was opened, becoming one of the largest fan clubs in Greece. In 1997, with Anna Vissi, he recorded the song “Se Thelo, Me Thelis” (I want you, you want me) for her new album “Travma”.

On May 19, 1997, Sakis took part in an action for peace and reunification, performing together with a Turkish pop artist named Burak Kut at a concert organized by the UN in Cyprus. After this concert, Sakis was even accused of treason. But in the end, for his participation in this concert, he was awarded the international Ipeksi prize for understanding and assistance. Along with him, this prize was awarded to prominent public and political figures.

Having released 5 albums, Sakis began collaborating with the record company MINOS EMI. The 1998 release of the album "Kati apo Mena" (Something from me) was presented with a live concert in one of the largest music stores in Athens and was certified gold and later platinum.

In March 2000, Sakis Rouvas released his next album, 21st Akatallilos, which was certified twice platinum and topped the charts for a long time.

An important milestone in the singer’s career came in 2004, when the singer took 3rd place at the next Eurovision contest held in Istanbul.

Greek singer Sakis Rouvas, whose biography is known to every pop music fan in his homeland, participated in various events during the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004. The singer took part in the relay race and performed at the closing ceremony, where, together with other stars of the Greek stage, he performed several famous folk songs.

At the end of 2004, Rouvas sang a duet with the Russian king of pop Philip Kirkorov for the first time. The song became popular not only in Greece, but also in Russia. A video was shot for it, which included scenes against the backdrop of the monuments of St. Petersburg.

In March 2006, at the 5th Arion Awards, Sakis Rouvas won 2 awards for his new album S'Eho Erotefthei in the categories "Best Pop Artist" and "Best Pop Album".

A year later, the singer became one of the jury members of the Greek version of “People's Artist,” which raised his popularity rating to a new level.

The singer's creative achievements over the past decade

The singer’s Istanbul performance at Eurovision was not the only one. In May 2009, in Moscow, Sakis Rouvas took part in the 54th Eurovision Song Contest and took 7th place, presenting the song This is Our Night to the audience. Viewers from Albania, Bulgaria and Cyprus gave the singer the maximum score. He received 10 points from Armenia, and 8 from Romania. In addition, in 2009, Rouvas gave a big concert at the Panathinaikos stadium.

In December 2010, Sakis Rouvas (biography, wife and children have repeatedly become the subject of discussion in the media) released the music album “Paraphora”, which immediately took a leading place in the Greek chart and went platinum. After the release of this song collection, Sakis Rouvas focused on organizing his concerts and took part in several popular television shows.

Sakis Rouvas – Musical Sex Symbol of Greece

Grekoblog: Greece and Cyprus > Business and leisure > Music > Sakis Rouvas – Musical sex symbol of Greece

If there is a man in Greece about whom it is not customary to speak badly, it is undoubtedly Sakis Rouvas. It is not accepted, by the way, for a very simple reason - Sakis Rouvas has reigned at the top of the Greek musical Olympus for 15 years and has won so many hearts among the female half of Greek society with his voice and appearance that a bad review of him in a female company may well end tragically for the initiator.

The singer has a distinct style, and his music has a characteristic and clearly recognizable sound, which can be characterized more like a pop-rock style with a certain admixture of Greek motifs.

Like most artists, the main theme of his songs is love and romance, but Sakis Rouvas' voice is the secret weapon that makes you believe him.

The distinctive features of Rouvas' show are choreography and dynamics, which, together with the singer's natural talents, ensures sold-out crowds wherever he performs.

Unlike precocious stars, the singer actually has a wide range of talents, which allows him to easily and naturally turn on any audience. What makes his task easier is that music is a passion for him, which he has managed to turn into a very, very successful job.

To the singer’s talents one cannot help but add the talents of a musician and an athlete. Sakis plays the guitar and piano excellently, and the young man’s athletic talents once secured him a place in the Greek athletics team.

Although some biographies of Sakis Rouvas say that he was born into an artistic family, in fact the singer’s parents were a driver and a duty-free employee at the airport in his native Corfu. But his merits are all the higher because, having been born into a simple family, Rouvas was able to independently pave his way to fame.

Rather, his childhood spent in Corfu helped strengthen his character - he was not a spoiled child, was not used to constant attention and worked hard to help his parents.

Rouvas's artistic talent manifested itself back in school, when the future singer began taking part in productions at the children's theater studio.

Later, Sakis was torn between music and sports for a long time, experiencing a passion for both hobbies. And although his sports career was also very successful, in the end he gave preference to music.

Initially, it was just a hobby, then he began to earn his living with it, performing in clubs in Corfu, and in the end, following the advice of many who saw his performances, he set off to conquer the capital.

His first performance as a professional musician took place in 1991 at the Show Center in Athens. It was then that the record company PolyGram drew attention to him, offering the young singer a contract to record songs.

Since then, victories in the musical field have followed Sakis constantly. Just a few months after meeting PolyGram, Rouvas makes his debut and wins at the Thessaloniki Song Festival.

Around the same time, his first album “Sakis Rouvas” was released, which pinned the singer to the top of the Greek charts for a long time.

Further albums, following one after another at intervals of once a year, further and further promoted Rouvas's fame, establishing him among the most popular performers in Greece at that time. Every Rouvas show is a reason for wide resonance, every new photo shoot is on the covers of a glossy magazine.

For several years in a row, Rouvas has literally monopolized the Greek Music Awards, consistently winning or receiving prestigious awards in categories such as Best Song, Show, Artist, etc.

The culmination of Sakis Rouvas' career, it would seem, should be the victory at Eurodenia 2004 in Istanbul, but the main award went to Ukraine. Sakis, who performed the song “Shake It,” took only third place.

But is it worth being upset? Among the many performers who participated in the competition, his star perhaps soared highest on the European musical Olympus, winning the singer many new fans around the world.

Later, already in 2005, the success of the Eurovision performance will be fully demonstrated when Rouvas received the prestigious award “CD Single with the Highest Sales of 2004” exactly for his song “Shake It”.

After his Eurovision performance, Sakis Rouvas continues to be the most popular singer in Greece, but now the scope of his career is becoming truly international.

New albums, numerous trips, foreign concerts and shows contribute to the growth of his popularity in many countries.

Saxis becomes one of the hallmarks of Greece: he performs at the celebrations dedicated to the Olympics in Athens, becomes the host of Eurovision 2006 in Hellas after the victory of Elena Paparizou, and even performs soundtracks for films.

On the wave of success, the singer decides to re-take Eurovision. His song “This is our Night” again wins the hearts of numerous fans, but again Sakis does not reach first place - in the Eurovision final he only got 7th place.

But is this a cause for concern? The star of Sakis Rouvas is one of the most imperishable on the Hellenic stage; numerous fan clubs around the world are dedicated to him, and albums are sold out with enviable speed. Perhaps this is what is called happiness: doing what you like and being successful at it.

Business

In 2010, Sakis Rouvas began investing. He chose the entertainment industry to invest his money earned in the music field. First, the singer opened the shopping center The S Club, which later burned down, most likely as a result of the machinations of competitors, and then the EDO sushi club. Somewhat later, the artist became the owner of the franchise, as well as 25 percent of the shares of one of the famous Greek brands.

Sakis Rouvas (biography): marital status

In 2003, while filming an advertisement for the Vodafone brand, Rouvas met the popular Greek actress and model Kati Zyguli. Soon the young people began to live together, but tried their best to hide their relationship from the media. Several years passed before Sakis announced that he and Kati were a couple.

In the spring of 2008, it became known that Ziguli was pregnant, and on November 2 she gave birth to a girl named Anastasia. Sakis chose Emmanuel Pavlata as the godmother for his daughter. Although in an interview given after the birth of his first child, Rouvas said that marriage was not part of their couple’s plans, a year later it did not escape the careful gaze of journalists that a diamond engagement ring was sparkling on Katya’s finger.

On October 15, 2011, Sakis and his faithful and incredibly beautiful girlfriend became parents for the second time. They had a son, who was named Alexandros. The couple had two more children (son and daughter) in 2013 and 2020, and on July 3, 2020, 14 years after they met, Sakis Rouvas finally married Katya Ziguli.

The wedding celebration was magnificent, and all the Greek media wrote about it.

Now you know what creative path brought the popular Greek singer Sakis Rouvas to the pop Olympus. You also know the biography, family and details of the artist’s personal life. We can only hope that the singer will continue to delight his fans with new hits that will be popular even far beyond the borders of his native country.
