Leighton Marissa Mister
(English: Leighton Marissa Meester; born April 9, 1986, Fort Worth, Texas, USA) is an American actress, singer, songwriter and fashion model.
She is best known for her role as Blair Waldorf
in the television series Gossip Girl (2007).[6]
early years
Mister's parents, Connie and Doug Mister, were part of a group that smuggled marijuana from Jamaica to the United States.[7][8][9][10] They were both arrested for their involvement in smuggling activities. They were released on bail before the trial began, during which time Connie became pregnant. She was later sentenced to 10 years in a Texas state prison, where she spent most of her pregnancy.[11] Leighton was born in a Texas hospital where her mother was taken during labor. Three months after giving birth, the mother returned to prison to continue serving her sentence.[11][12] After spending 16 months in prison, she was released early and began living with her daughter[13].
“I was not born in prison, I was born in a hospital. I lived with my mother for a few months, after which I lived with my grandmother until my mother came out. But I had a normal life."
— Mister in an interview for Teen Vogue
.
In 2002, Mister's older brother, Douglas Mister, was accused of raping a freshman student at the United States Air Force Academy. In addition to her older brother, Leighton also has a younger brother, Lex Meester.
Biography
Leighton Meester is an American model, actress, songwriter and singer.
She is known for her role in the youth television series Gossip Girl. The birth story of Leighton Meester can hardly be called happy. Leighton's parents, Connie and Doug, gifted their children with a surname of Dutch origin and their own dubious past. Both were drug dealers and were put on trial for marijuana smuggling. Pending the trial, the young couple were released on bail, and when they appeared in court, Connie was already pregnant with her daughter. Despite this fact, the girl received a sentence of ten years, so she spent most of her pregnancy in a Texas prison.
Leighton Meester as a child
Leighton Marissa Meester was born in a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, and spent three months with her mother in the so-called House of Compromise. After this, the young mother returned to prison, and Leighton remained in the care of her grandmother and aunt, her mother's sister, in Florida.
Connie Meester was released early after sixteen months and returned to her young daughter. The girl went to a regular school, and at the age of eleven she had the opportunity to play in the play “The Wizard of OZ.” After a successful debut on the school stage, Leighton decided to become an actress.
Leighton Meester in his youth
In 1997, the whole family moved to New York, where Leighton had the chance to start collaborating with a modeling agency. There, the girl studied at a Professional School, about a hundred graduates of which later became famous actresses and actors. There, in the Big Apple, Leighton was lucky: she was photographed for glossy magazines by the famous photographer and director Sofia Coppola. Three years later, the Meesters moved to Los Angeles, where Leighton attended acting school and high school in Beverly Hills.
Actress Leighton Meester
Leighton has two brothers: the elder Douglas, whose name is associated with an unpleasant story of rape, and the younger Lex. Lex is sick and in the care of his mother, and his sister regularly pays them a $7,500 allowance. In 2011, it became known that Leighton was suing Connie over money that her mother, as it turned out, spent exclusively on her own needs.
Career
When Mister was 11 years old, she moved with her aunt to New York and began working as a model for Wilhelmina.
[14], she then worked with photographer Sofia Coppola.[15]
Meester's debut on television took place in 1999, when she played Alice Turner in the series Law & Order. After that, there were episodic roles in the series “7th Heaven”, “CSI: Miami”, “24 Hours”, “8 Simple Rules for My Teenage Daughter’s Friend” and others. Mister made his debut in big cinema in 2003 in the film “Suicide Curse.”
From 2007 to 2012, Meester starred in the series Gossip Girl, where she played the role of Blair Waldorf. The series follows the lives of high school students on the Upper East Side.
In 2009, she took part in the recording of the Cobra Starship group's single "Good Girls Go Bad". she also recorded her debut electro-pop album, which was released in early 2011. In 2013, Mister became the face of the 2013/2014 autumn/winter collection of the French company Naf Naf
[16].

Leighton Meester in the series "Gossip Girl"
And yet, Leighton Meester’s real popularity was brought not by photo shoots or full-screen films, but by TV series. The television series “Gossip Girl” became a landmark for the girl, in which she played one of the main roles, Blair Waldorf, from 2007 to 2012. On the set, the actress became close friends with her co-stars, including Ed Westwick, Blake Lively and Sebastian Stan.
After 2012 and while working in the series, Leighton Meester’s filmography was supplemented by the films “Dazed,” “Papa Dosvidos,” “The Judge,” and “I’m Leaving - Don’t Cry.” She had the opportunity to work with Adam Sandler, Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Laurie and other celebrities.
Personal life
In July 2011, Meester filed a lawsuit against her mother, Constance Meester. Layton paid her unemployed mother $7,500 every month to provide for and treat her sick younger brother, Lex Mister, and Constance, according to Layton, spent the money exclusively on her own needs[17]. The mother filed a counterclaim, but Layton ultimately won the case in June 2012.[18]
In March 2010, Meester met actor Adam Brody on the set of the film “Love Bound” and they later began dating. In November 2013, the couple got engaged. On February 15, 2014, they married in a private ceremony.[19][20][21][22] The couple have a daughter, Arlo Day Brody (born August 4, 2015)[23].
