Biography

Actress of the Satyricon Theater Yulia Melnikova is rapidly making a career in cinema. Having started acting in the early 2000s, the Siberian quickly expanded her filmography. In the last 15 years, her work has appeared in sensational projects, but the star artist and her fans call the role of noblewoman Morozova in the historical drama “Raskol” a star.

And Yulia is the wife of Russian cinema star Pavel Trubiner, known to television viewers for his leading roles in the thriller “The Rook” and the TV series “The Great.”

Childhood and youth

Yulia Melnikova was born in the spring of 1981 in the second largest city of Siberia - Omsk. Not everything in the artist’s biography is known to the public. No information can be found about parents and family. After school, the girl worked as a model and traveled thousands of kilometers flying from her hometown to the capital of Russia. Then she decided to become a translator and entered the Institute of Foreign Languages.

After studying for a year, Yulia applied to 2 theater universities at once - the Moscow Art Theater School and the Shchukin School. Konstantin Raikin took his own course for the first time at the Studio School. Melnikova was taken there. Later, the actress recalled with delight her years of study. She said that teachers who personally knew Anna Akhmatova or who read Mikhail Bulgakov’s works in manuscript could, in principle, be interesting.

Yulia Melnikova and her daughter
Yulia Melnikova was accepted into the Satyricon troupe in 2003 - two years before graduating from theater school. On the stage of the Raikin Theater, Melnikova embodied dozens of vivid characters and played roles in the productions “Ay yes Pushkin...” and “Country of Love.” The director of the first performance was Marina Brusnikina, the second was staged by Raikin, entrusting the student with the roles of Elena the Beautiful and Kupava.

Capital theatergoers saw the young actress in “Scenes from a Married Life” and “The ABC of an Artist.” In the play “The Case”, Julia played Constance, in “Balzaminov” - Krasavina, and in the production of “Romeo and Juliet” she played Lady Capulet.

At the institute, Melnikova became interested in photography and experimented on her colleagues. One day I got the idea to introduce the audience to the artists of “Satyricon” from the side from which they are seen only behind the scenes or by herself. This is how the video art project #GODS#HEROES appeared with the participation of Denis Sukhanov and Agrippina Steklova, Maxim Averin and Grigory Siyatvinda, Glafira Tarkhanova and Lika Nifontova.

Theater career

Already in her third year, Melnikova appeared on the stage of the famous “Satyricon”, where she serves to this day. Her first work in the famous theater was her role in Maria Brusnikina’s production of “Ay da Pushkin...”, which premiered in December 2003.

A year later, Konstantin Raikin introduced the young actress into the main cast of his play “Country of Love”, entrusting her with two key images at once - Kupava and Elena the Beautiful.

Now Melnikova’s creative treasury includes about a dozen bright theatrical works, including leading roles in the plays “Romeo and Juliet”, “The Blue Monster”, “Balzaminov”, “The Case” and many others.

Yulia Melnikova – actress of the Satyricon theater

Despite a successful film career, the actress does not betray her beloved theater, and in 2014 she presented her original director’s art project “#my gods #my heroes” to the audience. It involves the leading artists of “Satyricon” Max Averin, Lika Nifontova, Grigory Siyatvinda, Agrippina Steklova, Glafira Tarkhanova and many others, who appeared to the public in unusual creative images. And, of course, Julia did not ignore the artistic director of the theater, Konstantin Raikin, who got the role of a kind of Karabas-Barabas, great and terrible. In this unusual way, Melnikova tried to express her gratitude to her stage colleagues, who became her real creative family.

Movies

The Siberian woman appeared on television during her student years. At the age of 22, she made her debut in the melodrama “Theater Blues,” directed by Alexander Tsabadze. 2 years later, in 2006, Yulia Melnikova starred in supporting roles in the series “Elevator” and “Happiness by Prescription”, and in 2007 she played a heroine named Marilyn Monroe in the 3rd episode of the crime film “Hour of Volkov” .

Episodic work in the projects “Brothers”, “Sisters of the Queen” and “Doctor Tyrsa” improved the artist’s skills and added to her fame. The first star role came in 2011, when director Nikolai Dostal conceived the historical drama “Split”. The 20-episode film tells about a little-known and tragic period in the history of Russia in the 17th century - the schism of the Russian Orthodox Church. Dostal entrusted Yulia Melnikova with the main role of the noblewoman Feodosia Morozova.

Known from the painting by artist Vasily Surikov, the historical character of noblewoman Morozova has never been depicted in films. Melnikova had the honor of being the first to try on the image of a strong and bright woman. The difficulty of the work was that the actress had to play the heroine from the age of 16 until the end of her life. Julia brilliantly coped with the role of a daring and capricious noblewoman; the film image turned out to be convincing and aroused admiration and sympathy among the audience.

To get into character, the artist attended services in Old Believer churches, talked with an Old Believer priest, sang psalms in Old Russian, and read historical literature about the 17th century. Yulia Melnikova claims that the role of Morozova changed her worldview.

Action-packed TV series brought widespread fame to the actress. It is noteworthy that in many of them Julia played the wives of the main characters. This happened in the film “St. John’s Wort-3,” which started airing on the NTV channel in early 2012. Melnikova got the role of Maria, the wife of a special services officer nicknamed St. John's Wort (Dmitry Ulyanov). The actress replaced Olga Lomonosova in the detective story.

In another sensational project, the detective-mystical thriller “Rook,” which premiered in February 2013 on Channel One, Yulia Melnikova played the wife of Rook, Major Grachev of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The role of a policeman with psychic abilities went to Pavel Trubiner. Julia reincarnated as an unhappy woman who loves her husband, but due to the inappropriate behavior of a psychic major, she is forced to leave him.

Yulia Melnikova in the series “Katya and Black”
In the same year, Yulia Melnikova appeared on the screen in the 4-episode military action film “Death to Spies. Shock Wave”, where Trubiner again turned out to be her partner in the film. The film premiered on May 9 on the Rossiya 1 TV channel. The actress played the school director Elena Malinovskaya.

In 2013, the premiere of two more films took place, in which Melnikova played the roles of the wives of the main characters. In the crime series "Silent Hunt" she played the other half of Lieutenant Gulyaev, played by her husband. And in the psychological detective story “Weekend” by Stanislav Govorukhin, Julia is the wife of Prefect Ivan Ivanovich, the character of Alexander Domogarov.

In 2020, TV viewers saw a Siberian woman in the title role of Alexey Muradov’s biographical drama “Vlasik. Shadow of Stalin." And again, Julia is the wife of the main character of the series, Nikolai Vlasik, the head of Joseph Stalin’s security. Muradov entrusted the role of Vlasik to Konstantin Milovanov.

In December 2020, the NTV channel released a 16-episode detective action film “Rustle,” in which the actress from Omsk played the role of Yana. The main characters were played by Sergei Chirkov and Denis Makeev.

Boyarina Morozova

Yulia Melnikova made her screen debut while a student, playing the role of Larisa Surnina in the drama “Theater Blues” directed by Alexander Tsabadze. Until 2011, the actress periodically starred in various films and TV series, playing small roles.

Yulia Melnikova’s first big success was Nikolai Dostal’s 20-episode historical film “Raskol,” which tells about the most difficult and little-known period of Russian history - the schism of the Russian Orthodox Church in the 17th century. The actress played a real historical character in it - noblewoman Feodosia Morozova. The character is both known to many (from the painting of the great Russian artist Vasily Surikov “Boyarina Morozova”) and virtually unknown to a wide circle, which is why films on this topic have not yet been made in our country, and they have not written about Morozova’s life in school textbooks...

In the film, the actress had the opportunity to play her heroine over a not very long, but very intense period of time: from 16 years to death. The image turned out to be bright and convincing: a rich, beautiful girl, daring and willful, with a tough character, but at the same time with a very strong inner core, beliefs, priorities and life position.

Yulia Melnikova says about her work on the film: “We developed an amazing relationship on the set. We rehearsed before filming, read the text, went to Old Believer churches, met in the morning and went to the service. I studied the “Old Russian” language, learned to sing psalms in it, went to the Old Believer priest, my life changed radically. And when I asked Nikolai Nikolaevich on the set how I should play one scene (and the scene was very complex, incredible, quiet, but with such meaning...), he replied: “You know.” We didn't rehearse scenes on set, but we did a lot of work before and during filming to really get into the material, into these people, and then give them freedom on set."

Personal life

Julia is happy in her personal life and protects her family from outside interference - no interviews, no details on social networks, much less scandals and gossip. The actress met her future husband Pavel Trubiner in November 2010. At that time, Pavel had two children growing up from his marriage to athlete Olga Mukhortova. The flared passion grew into a strong feeling. Julia claims that it was love at first sight, which she and Pavel could not resist.

On November 1, 2020, Yulia Melnikova gave birth to her husband’s daughter Elizaveta. The girl appeared on the same day that her parents met 6 years ago. The actress claims that Pavel’s best role is as a father. Trubiner adores his daughter and finds time for his sons Pavel and Alexander, who, like dad, are interested in fishing and hunting.

With each role, Melnikova’s acting talent revealed new facets and was fully demonstrated in the image of the noblewoman Morozova in the historical drama “Raskol” (2011). Julia perfectly managed to convey the difficult character of the heroine, her greatness and unwillingness to submit to the blows of fate. To more accurately get into character, the actress attended church services, talked a lot with Old Believers priests, and read a huge amount of historical literature.
