Dakota Fanning is the winner of many awards and the youngest nominee for the Screen Actors Guild Award[2].

Early years and education[edit | edit code]

Dakota Fanning was born into a sports family - father Steve Fanning (b. 1967) is a former baseball player for the St. Louis Cardinals, currently working as an electronics salesman [3] [4]; mother Joy Fanning (b. 1967), née Errington, is a former professional tennis player. Her maternal grandfather is Rick Errington. - former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, and aunt Jill Errington (English) Russian. - Former ESPN reporter[5]. Dakota has a younger sister, Elle Fanning, also an actress.[6] Has German and Irish roots[7]. Fanning and her family are Baptists[8]. Graduated from Campbell Hall School

in North Hollywood, Los Angeles[9], where she was a member of the school cheerleading team[10].

Dakota learned to read at age 2. Acting abilities manifested themselves from an early age. When four-year-old Dakota had a sister, Elle, she began to put a pillow under her dress, pretending to be pregnant, and her sister played the newborn baby. Dakota began attending a theater studio located near her home. There, children staged plays every week, and the theater staff, noticing how much Dakota stood out, advised her parents to hire an agent for her. In 1999, the family, on the advice of an agent, went to Los Angeles for 6 weeks, planning to return back to Georgia. But the agent found Dakota his first job in an advertisement for Tide powder, and the family never returned [11].

Dakota Fanning: “My sister and I are not rivals!”

Dakota Fanning began acting in films at the age of six. Now, at nineteen, she is not a wayward teenager, but a real professional, because the actress already has several acclaimed films and work with such partners as Sean Penn, Reese Witherspoon, Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe. But what’s most interesting is that she never chased success, she just liked to work. Dakota is generally very independent and has been living alone in her own apartment in New York for a long time. According to the actress, “there’s something exciting about just the thought of coming to a big city and meeting a cool guy there.” By the way, now the girl has no time for love, she is busy filming films, studying at the university and has even succeeded in the fashion industry. In 2007, she presented clothes from the spring-summer collection of the Marc Jacobs fashion house, and in 2011 she became the face of the advertising campaign for their fragrance Oh, Lola!

“In general, I have the feeling that I have been living for a very long time. And filming... It seems to me that I have always loved it and have always been able to do it. I love it. I love everything about it. When I stand on the set, it seems to me that I am the happiest girl in the world. I consider myself lucky, because from early childhood I knew what I wanted to do, what kind of life I wanted to live,” the actress shared.

Dakota is often compared to her younger sister, Elle Fanning, who, despite her young age, has already starred in films such as Dad on Duty, I Am Sam and Super 8, produced by Steven Spielberg. But there is no rivalry between the sisters. Each has chosen its own path and does not interfere with the other.

“I like to be independent. The main thing is that now I don’t have to share a bathroom with my little sister! Of course, I say this with love. Of course, while it seems a little strange to me that I have my own personal space, I am still surprised by the fact that I am alone and no one is watching what I am doing. My mother spent some time with me in New York, made sure that I settled well, taught me how to cook and wash clothes,” said the actress.

Dakota is very sorry that work on the famous Twilight saga has ended, because for her, like for the other actors in this film, it was an invaluable experience. She managed to become friends with actress Kristen Stewart, although in the film they play sworn enemies. Fanning is glad to have been a part of these films, even if she didn't get as much publicity as Pattinson and Stewart.

“When we were filming the saga in Italy, about five thousand people gathered there in the square. And when Rob walked to the car, it seemed to me that the girls would simply go crazy! As soon as the actors appeared, everyone started screaming. Yes, it was noisy there! All these people gathered just to get a glimpse of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. It is impossible to convey in words everything that happened there. Yes, I was very lucky, I worked with famous actors. But to react to them like that?! Previously, I only saw this at the premieres of films, but never during filming,” Dakota Fanning shared her emotions.

The film “Now is the Time” will be released soon, where the actress plays a terminally ill girl. Dakota was very interested in this role because it was not like all the others. According to Fanning, “she wanted to go on this emotional journey with the character. After all, to portray fear, love, despair and at the same time the desire to live on screen is certainly a challenge for an actor.”

Surfer Mick Fanning

Right during the competition, the famous surfer had to compete for a more serious reward than any cups or recognition - his own life.

Fight with a shark with a happy outcome

On July 19, at a competition in South Africa, the famous surfer, three-time world champion Mick Fanning was attacked by a huge white shark, the fight with which was captured by all photographers present at the J-Bay Open. The shark had a bite to eat, but the surfer kicked it off and swam to the shore, hoping that the jet ski on duty would pick him up along the way.

Fortunately, for the athlete, the shark did not pursue him, and he managed to emerge as the absolute winner from the fight, not only fighting off the sea predator, but also not losing his limbs in this fight, and the famous model Carissa Dalton, with whom Mick has been with for more than 10 years is married and is not a widow. But the video of the fight with the sea predator spread across the Internet, and Mick himself became a real star, gaining fame as the “thunderstorm of sharks.”

Mick Fanning with his wife Carissa Dalton

As Mick Fanning later said in an interview, when he met a shark, he initially felt that something was strongly pulling him to the bottom, he didn’t notice any teeth - only fins, and he simply couldn’t believe that all this was happening to him, and next to him formidable sea predator.

There are many cases of shark attacks on surfers. One of the saddest examples is the well-known one-armed surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in an encounter with a shark, but did not lose interest in such a dangerous water sport. But a collision with a shark right in the competition is a rare event, and Mick was extremely lucky that everything ended so well for him.

How it all began, or victories in memory of my brother

The future multiple world champion in surfing Mick (Michael) Fanning, also known among surfers under the nickname “White Lightning,” was born on July 13, 1981 in Australia in a family of immigrants from Ireland. Having first stood on a surfboard at the age of 5, he became forever addicted to surfing and, together with future pro surfer Joel Parkinson, rode the waves of the Australian coast.

Already in 1996, Mick Fanning first announced himself as a talented Australian surfer, who had many victories and achievements to his name. And over the subsequent years of his career as a professional surfer, he repeatedly proved this.

Together with his brother Sean, Mick dreamed of becoming a professional surfer and traveling around the world. But only one brother’s dream was destined to come true: Sean died in a car accident.

Mick was 17 then, he was very worried about the death of his brother, but after a long depression he decided to achieve everything they had always dreamed of and dedicate all his victories to the deceased Sean. And Mick Fanning has plenty of victories. In terms of their number, he strives to catch up with the recognized leader in the world of professional surfing - Kelly Slater.

Catch up with Slater

In 2001, Mick won one of the main Australian surfing competitions, and this turned out to be a real breakthrough for him into the world of professional surfing. The Australian surfer finished the 2002 season with the title of “Best Newcomer of the Year,” and subsequently never tired of demonstrating his successful ascent to the pinnacle of fame.

But in 2004, his surfing career almost ended after suffering a serious injury - a torn hamstring. Having undergone surgery, Mick Fanning decided to get back on the surfboard and triumphantly returned to the ranks of the best surfers in the world, winning the World Tour ASP.

At the 2007 competition in Brazil, Mick even managed to beat Slater and win the championship title. But a serious injury received in 2008 prevented the surfer from regaining his laurels of glory. At the end of the year, he was only eighth among the best surfers. But in 2009, Mick Fanning was again able to climb onto the winner’s podium and won the championship title at the next ASP competition.

In addition to hard training on the water, Mick devotes a lot of time to practicing proper breathing, which divers usually learn, and meditation. The latter allows the surfer not only to develop endurance and remain calm even in the most difficult situations, but also promotes the development of attentiveness and concentration, allowing maximum concentration on achieving the desired results and remaining among the leaders in the world of professional surfing.
