Difficult childhood
Lyubov Virolainen, whose biography is the subject of our attention, was born shortly before the war period, on January 14, 1941 in the city of Borisov. Now this is the Minsk region. The girl's father and mother were Belarusians named Urozhenko.
The actress's childhood was difficult. My father died in the war, my mother was a partisan. The children (there were three of them: Lyuba, her three-year-old sister and six-year-old brother) had to hide in the dugout.
Later, the whole family ended up in a fascist concentration camp located in the forests of Belarus. The children had to be given to strangers. After leaving the camp, the mother returned the children.
In the post-war period, the family lived on the brink of poverty, the children were starving. Lyuba attended school, but looked exhausted, and the teachers suggested that she rest and not attend classes for a while.

Lyubov Virolainen in 2020
Lyubov Virolainen (Urozhenko before her marriage) was born just before the war, in January 1941 in the Belarusian city of Borisov. The future Honored Artist of the RSFSR had a terrible, tragic childhood. Dad died at the front in the first years of the war, leaving three children half-orphaned. Lyubov Ivanovna was an infant when her mother joined the partisan detachment. The children, a 6-year-old son, a 3-year-old daughter and tiny Lyuba, remained to live in a dugout, eating what kind people brought. Soon my mother was captured by the Germans and sent to a concentration camp.
Lyubov Virolainen
After the release, the mother found the children in the same dugout. All three of them survived miraculously. Lyuba, who did not remember her mother, resisted and cried, afraid of this completely alien woman. Getting used to it was difficult. However, like all subsequent years of growing up. Lyubov Ivanovna said that in her childhood and youth she never had new clothes. She was left to wear her older sister's clothes. But she was able to eat a hearty meal only when she graduated from school. When Lyubov Virolainen was in her senior year, the family moved to Leningrad.
Lyubov Virolainen in his youth
The dream of an acting profession appeared in Lyubov Virolainen during her school years. As the artist recently admitted, this dream was dictated not so much by the desire for self-expression through creativity, but by banal poverty.
The girl approached newsstands, where photographs of famous actresses were sold in huge quantities, saw photos of the beautiful Lyubov Orlova in magnificent dresses, Tamara Makarova in a luxurious hat, and it seemed to her that the actresses were celestial beings living in incredible prosperity and satiety. The young girl wanted to live the same way, without remembering every minute about her aching empty stomach.
Lyubov Virolainen in his youth
In Leningrad, Lyubov Virolainen was lucky. One day, a film studio agent noticed her and invited her to audition for the film “At the Breaking Point.” The director of the melodrama, Nikolai Lebedev, noticed the talent in the girl and approved her for a small role. This film turned out to be a springboard for the young actress, a ticket to the world of cinema. And then, with the first fee, Lyuba bought fresh white bread and brought it home, dividing it among her relatives.
Lyubov Virolainen now
After graduating from school, Lyubov Ivanovna Virolainen tried to enter a theater university. But the girl in a nondescript school dress, finding herself among beautifully dressed peers, felt so gray and squeezed that she was unable to convince the selection committee of her talent.
Lyubov Virolainen in the theater
Only a few years later Virolainen made a second attempt. She managed to get into the theater studio at the Bolshoi Drama Theater. The head of the theater, Georgy Tovstonogov, was able to discern the talent in this fragile girl with large sad eyes and an amazing hoarse timbre of her voice. From his very first roles, Tovstonogov was convinced that his choice was correct.
Beautiful dream
The family of Lyubov Virolainen (whose biography we are considering) moved to Kazakhstan, and from there to Leningrad. The wanderings continued, the family lived in a closet under the staircase. Children were doing their homework on the windowsills in the entrance.
While studying at school, Lyubov began to dream of becoming an actress. She did not have a clear understanding of the profession, because she did not watch TV or go to the movies.
Love came to the Lenfilm building. The guards at the entrance did not let the girl in, she stood at the columns and cried. Director Nikolai Lebedev passed by and invited Lyuba to star in a cameo role.
After the film was released, Lyubov sent a letter to Malenkov and complained about unsatisfactory living conditions. Malenkov at that time ruled the state after the death of Stalin. The authorities scolded the actress’s mother, but they still allocated a room in a communal apartment.
Lyubov Virolainen (her biography is truly fascinating) decided to enter VGIK, but the attempt was unsuccessful. The future actress was wearing a tight school dress, because of which she was unable to reveal her talent. Upset, Lyubov went home.

Twelve months (S. Marshak)
Musical fairy tale in 2 acts
A musical fairy tale in 2 acts. The performance uses music by P.I. Tchaikovsky The performance is addressed to spectators from 6 years old
This is not only a bright New Year's performance of the theater "On the Neva", but also a very wise fairy tale. About the laws of nature, about the fact that each season has its own time, and each is beautiful in its own way. Unlike other theater productions, “Twelve Months” does not have lavish decorations, but the amazing costumes created by Inna Novikova look all the more impressive. When the months appear, a real parade of seasons begins, a spectacle of extraordinary beauty. Snow-white fur coats of the winter months with frosty patterns and rowan beads; blue, like the March sky, the cloaks of their spring brothers; the costumes of the hosts of summer, full of lush greenery and fragrant flowers; red foliage embroidered with gold, camisoles of the autumn months - looking at them, you begin to love winter, spring, summer and autumn again. As always, Tatiana Savenkova’s performance has good humor and funny songs. Of course, the good heroes will be happy, and the bad ones will be punished, but not very much, because this is a fairy tale!

Little Red Riding Hood, or The Adventures of a Naughty Girl (C.Perrault)
A funny, mischievous story based on the fairy tales of Charles Perrault
A musical performance-show in 2 acts. The performance is addressed to viewers aged 3 years and older.
A cheerful, mischievous girl goes to visit her grandmother, and her path lies through an enchanted forest. She meets different fairy-tale characters, and the appearance of each of them on stage is a separate show number! Crows tap dance and talk in tongue twisters, hares dance the Charleston and do gymnastic tricks, the fox sings jazz and juggles! This is not just a theatrical variation of a famous fairy tale, but a festive musical show - bright, colorful, full of modern music, original director's ideas and unusual stage solutions. Elegant, multi-colored, like icing on Christmas gingerbread, “living” scenery, a dancing enchanted forest, unusual lighting effects, costumes of stunning beauty and invention - all this will make the premiere of the play an unforgettable gift for little theatergoers!

Morozko
A musical fairy tale in one act based on Russian folklore
A musical fairy tale in one act based on Russian folklore. The performance is addressed to children from 3 years old.
“Morozko” is one of the “winter” fairy tales of the theater “On the Neva”. The narrator of the famous story here is the old wizard Morozko himself. He hits once with his magic staff - the hard worker Nastenka takes care of the lazy Marfushenka, hits him again - the braggart Ivan argues with the Old Borovitch. Morozko is wise, he loves order, values respect: “I will give a cold to all the capricious and indifferent, but I will reward the good and obedient,” the law is harsh but fair. In this performance, the artistic director of the theater Tatyana Savenkova acted not only as a director, but also as the author of the dramatization, so some of the negative characters turned out to be unexpectedly touching - there are no absolute villains in the Na Neva Theater! Baba Yaga is offended by Ivan: “I’m not a snag, I’m Granny Yaga!” And in general, it’s because of her radiculopathy that she’s so grumpy; and Morozko himself is thrilled by the kind words. So it turns out that this fairy tale is about how people lack warmth. A good fairy tale, kind, warming, despite all its winter wonders and beauty!
Duration 1 hour 20 minutes, no intermission

The Snow Queen (H.-H. Andersen, E. Schwartz)
A tale on Andersen themes in two acts
A fairy tale based on Andersen's themes in 2 acts. The performance is addressed to children from 6 years old.
“The Snow Queen” is an amazingly beautiful production (however, as always at the Na Neva Theater). A story of hot love that can melt the harshest ice and make people happy. And this is also a peculiarity: perhaps for the first time in the history of the theater, a performance for adult children appeared on its stage. “The Snow Queen” is about them taking their first steps in the world of adult feelings, about the difficulties and mistakes along the way, about the great miracle called love. Tatyana Savenkova does not accept bad endings, so in the ending of this fairy tale, romantic, sincere, touching, everything will definitely be fine. Children grow up, but the fairy tale remains with them!

The Nutcracker (E.T.A. Hoffmann)
A magical Christmas performance based on the famous fairy tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann
A winter's fairy tale in one act The performance involves the entire troupe and ballet of the theater The performance is addressed to spectators from 4 years old
“The Nutcracker” is a new winter’s tale of the theater “On the Neva”, a magical Christmas performance based on the famous fairy tale by Hoffmann. Little Masha receives as a gift from her godfather Drosselmeyer an unusual doll - the Nutcracker - and an amazing story about him. “Let you dream about this fairy tale,” says Drosselmeyer and, waving his cane like a Storyteller with a magic wand, he immerses the girl in a world of wonderful transformations. A huge festive tree sparkles with lights, children skate around it, stars sparkle in the dark frosty sky. As in a dream, the most beautiful “living” pictures replace each other: colorful toys and cups of Chinese service dance intricate dances, the insidious Myshilda appears with her capricious son, the Nutcracker turns out to be an enchanted prince... Difficult trials end in the victory of good, in the fabulous Confiturenburg the fairies of sweets dance delightful dances and They give Masha gifts. This is a theatrical fantasy, in which the main role is played by the majestic and magical music of P.I. Tchaikovsky. For many young spectators, this is their first acquaintance with the famous work, and the theater makes every effort to make the acquaintance memorable and enjoyable. The performance contains many dance numbers and incredibly beautiful, elegant festive costumes. Even the terrible Myshilda is not so scary: in the play of the theater “On the Neva” she has not three or seven, but only one head, and she and her offspring die from hot chocolate!

Theater life
Years later, Lyubov was enrolled in the Bolshoi Theater studio. After graduating in 1965, Lyubov Virolainen's childhood dream came true; she became an actress. Georgy Tovstonogov gave Lyubov multifaceted roles, including comedic ones.
Later, the actress went to work at Lenconcert, and in 1972 - at the Lenfilm film studio. However, Lyubov values the experience gained at the Bolshoi Drama Theater very highly, believing that in cinema she has turned into a “heroine of a single role.”

First marriage
In the 60s, Lyubov met Yuri Virolainen, who became her first husband. He worked as a translator who took Finns to Moscow.
Meeting Yuri did not look too romantic - the man hinted to the actress that he would not mind being alone with her. Of course, Love refused him. She could not imagine that later she would meet him again - in Leningrad.
Soon Lyubov and Yuri began an affair that ended in marriage. The family lived in a village in a house near Leningrad. In 1964, they had a son, who was named the same as his father - Yuri.
Village life did not please the actress. In the morning she had to chop wood, carry water, cook food, and then rush to catch the train in time to get to work at the Bolshoi Drama Theater.
To take care of her family, the actress had to give up good roles, but her husband did not appreciate Lyubov’s sacrifices. He openly cheated on his wife. At first Lyubov tried to fight it, and then unexpectedly she fell in love with another man.

Personal life
Lyubov Virolainen's first marriage was not happy. From her husband she inherited a beautiful Finnish surname and a son. The husband was a translator from Finnish. His parents emigrated to Finland during the war. Believing the promises of Joseph Stalin, they returned to their homeland. But instead of good housing, they got a wrecked house in a village near St. Petersburg. For a long time, the BDT actress traveled by train to the village to feed her little son Yuri.
Lyubov Virolainen with her husband and son
She also chopped wood, fed livestock and milked a cow. At the same time, according to Lyubov Ivanovna, her husband did not particularly hide his frequent affairs on the side. That was until she met her true love, heart surgeon Alexander Zorin. He had to take his beloved woman away from the family, because she was ready to continue to endure the betrayals of her unloved husband, with whom she had lived in recent years by inertia, for the sake of her son.
Lyubov Virolainen and husband Alexander Zorin
The artist doesn’t like to talk about it, but in her life there was a 5-year romance with the legendary director Sergei Gerasimov. These years, Lyubov Virolainen lived in an incredible atmosphere of envy and gossip from her colleagues. After all, she undeservedly received, as it seemed to them, the best roles. The director was very generous with gifts that he brought to his favorite artist from trips abroad. Thanks to him, she got an apartment in the center of St. Petersburg.
Lyubov Virolainen and Sergei Gerasimov
But all this is in the past. Now the personal life of Lyubov Virolainen is her wonderful family, her son and talented granddaughter Lyubov Yuryevna Virolainen, who dreams of becoming as popular as her famous grandmother.
Love affair at work
The actress's chosen one turned out to be director Sergei Gerasimov. He chose her for the role in the film “Loving a Man.” The director did not hide his relationship with Virolainen, despite the fact that he himself was married.
Gerasimov’s wife did not make scenes of jealousy, although she cast angry glances in the direction of the young, pretty actress. Perhaps she was already accustomed to the infidelity of her husband, who often had affairs with attractive young ladies on the set.
At first, Lyubov herself did not reciprocate Gerasimov’s feelings. Their rapprochement occurred when the actress realized how much her husband was suffering from betrayal.
The office romance lasted five years. Gerasimov presented Lyubov with luxurious gifts from abroad and gave money. After the release of the film “Loving a Man,” he secured an apartment for Lyubov in Leningrad.
Lyubov remembers this relationship with tenderness and says that it was Gerasimov who taught her to love and be loved.

Romance with the director
In the early seventies, the actress began an affair with the famous director Sergei Gerasimov. He was 35 years older than Virolainen. At that time, the meter had been married for a long time. But his wife was never able to bear him children. All colleagues saw the couple's feelings. Many actresses even envied the woman, not understanding why the director chose her.

Virolainen herself recalls that the relationship with Gerasimov became a real institution for her. He taught Lyuba and raised her. Probably, in some ways, the meter replaced the actress’s father, who was not really in her life. For Virolainen, Gerasimov became absolutely everything.
The director really dreamed of children. An adopted child appeared in his family later. Perhaps in his beloved he partly saw his brainchild. According to the actress, she and Gerasimov complemented each other perfectly. The director helped her leave her husband and start a new life. Their wonderful romance lasted five years. Deep down, each of them understood that they would not be able to be together due to the huge age difference and universal condemnation.
Second marriage
Let's continue to talk about Lyubov Virolainen, whose biography, personal life and photos are presented in the article.
Her second husband was heart surgeon Alexander Zorin. I met him during the illness of my first husband. Yuri became addicted to alcohol and became seriously ill. During another heart attack, he needed surgery. Alexander Zorin became the surgeon who volunteered to help Yuri Virolainen.
During a conversation with the doctor in the office, Lyubov Ivanovna realized that she had been waiting for just such a man. Feelings flared up between them at first sight. The woman left the family because there was no longer love in the marriage.
In her second family, the actress is extremely happy. She sees the meaning of her life in creating home comfort and caring for her man.
Lyubov Virolainen admits that she tries to fulfill her husband’s wishes as much as possible and does everything to make him feel comfortable. She told Yulia Menshova about this on a popular TV show.
The profession did not bring the actress real happiness and self-satisfaction, so the woman gives all her strength to her family.
Lyubov’s husband is a busy man, so sometimes he does not have time to make grand gestures for his wife. But this does not offend the woman at all. She says that if she had met Alexander at the beginning of her career, she would have chosen a family rather than the path of an actress.
Truly a difficult fate of Lyubov Virolainen! The biography, personal life, and husband of the actress became the subject of our consideration.

Lyubov Virolainen. Wartime childhood and personal tragedies of the dramatic actress
The beautiful Leningrad actress Lyubov Virolainen embodied on the screen the image of a Russian woman who went through trials, but retained the warmth of her soul and found the strength to love and be loved. The life story of the actress herself is similar to a movie story; there were trials and love in it.
The future actress was born in Soviet Belarus a few months before the start of the Great Patriotic War. She never saw her father alive, who died at the front; her mother, along with her three young children, fled from persecution by the Nazi occupiers to the partisans.
At first they lived in a dugout, then their mother was captured and sent to a concentration camp. The children lived and hid in the forest. The older six-year-old brother got food by rummaging through German garbage dumps. Then they were taken in separately by strangers.
The girl became attached to the woman with whom she lived and this affection was mutual. When her mother found her after the war, Lyubov did not want to reunite and experienced a dramatic scene of separation from the woman who replaced her mother for several years.
Having gone through the nightmare of the Nazi camps, the mother returned as a man with poor health and a crippled soul. In the difficult post-war years, it was difficult and hungry for them; they were saved by the fact that the family moved to Leningrad, where blockade survivors were accustomed to mutual assistance and school teachers fed hungry children from their supplies. When a hungry girl in rags walked past the kiosks where there were magazines with photographs of beautiful and well-groomed movie stars, her dream was born of becoming an actress.
Lyubov played her first film role when she was at school. The girl naively came to the entrance of the Lenfilm studio and said that she wanted to be an actress. When they didn’t let her through, she burst into tears; director Nikolai Lebedev passed by and took the tear-stained girl for a cameo role. With the money she received, she bought white bread, which she shared with her sister and brother. As a teenager, she played several more minor roles, after a trip to Moscow and an unsuccessful attempt to enter VGIK. Lyubov entered the studio school at the Leningrad Bolshoi Drama Theater and became an actress at the Bolshoi Drama Theater.
At the same time, she met her first husband, the handsome and dandy Yuri Virolainen, who worked as a translator. They settled in an old village house near Leningrad, where Yuri lived. Love took upon herself all the housework and caring for her little son. The husband preferred to spend time in the entertainment establishments of the cultural capital in the company of beautiful women.
Her first leading roles in films brought fame to the actress. In the films “The Road Home” (1969), “Loving a Man” (1972) and “Broken Sky” (1974), she proved herself to be a very strong dramatic actress. The country's best directors wanted to see her in the leading roles in their films, but due to her busy life and difficult life, she often had to refuse offers that implied a long absence from home.
Tired of her difficult life and her husband’s betrayals, the actress also experienced happy moments that happened on the set of her most famous film, “Loving a Man.” From the very beginning of the filming process, the girl was touched by the reverent attitude towards her of the master of Soviet cinema, Sergei Gerasimov. Soon mutual sympathy grew into a whirlwind romance. These relationships developed under the contemptuous gaze of their colleagues, because one of the main roles in the same film was played by the director’s wife, the outstanding actress Tamara Makarova.
The relationship with Gerasimov lasted several years. During this time, Lyubov became one of the leading actresses of the Lenfilm studio; due to her employment in cinema, she had to leave the theater. Over the years, the womanizer's husband's continuous spree had an increasingly severe impact on his health. When he needed heart surgery, the actress connected her connections and contacted the famous heart surgeon Alexander Zorin. The doctor and the actress fell in love at first sight. In this second marriage, the woman finally found long-awaited family happiness. At the same time, she continued to support her first husband, who became disabled, until he died of alcohol poisoning.
Of course, the actress failed to repeat the success of the film “Loving a Man,” although she played several more interesting roles. Let's remember some of them:
Yablonka - New Year's adventures of Masha and Vitya (1975)
Surgeon Irina Lozovskaya - Eleven Hopes (1975)
Raet - First day, last day (1978)
Ivan's Mother - I'll Take Your Pain (1980)
Soviet intelligence officer Anna Efimova - At the Dangerous Line (1983)
The 80s were especially fruitful professionally, when 3-4 films with the participation of the actress were released a year. The 90s became a real nightmare, when cinema, in the understanding in which Lyubov saw it, simply died. It seemed that her happy life had come to an end, there was deception and crime all around. The actress lost part of her savings by investing one-day money in the company, and was brutally beaten on the street by robbers who were tempted by the fur coat. Since the beginning of the 2000s, life has leveled out again, she and her husband traveled a lot around the world, she returned to her profession, acting in domestic films and TV series.
Despite her advanced age, these days the actress looks great, leads an active lifestyle, appears in TV series and is a frequent guest on television. The life of Lyubov Ivanovna is darkened only by the death of her beloved husband, which happened the year before last. The main joy in her life is her granddaughter, aspiring actress Lyubov Virolainen.
The crisis of the 90s and our days
In the 90s, the actress had no work. Soviet cinema fell into decline, and many talented actors were left out of work. Among them is Lyubov Virolainen (we analyze her biography in as much detail as possible).
Times of crisis force us to look for new facets in our personality. Lyubov Ivanovna began working in a cosmetology company. But the work did not bring pleasure.
Later, the woman filmed the operations performed by her husband. She had to stand in the same position for a long time, which tired Lyubov, and she soon abandoned this difficult work.
Then Lyubov got into real estate and bought country houses. However, the activity did not bring large profits.
In 2002, after many years of rest, Lyubov Virolainen continued working in cinema. She starred in the serial film “Time to Love.”
To this day, Lyubov travels a lot with her husband and dreams of living for several months somewhere on the shore of a warm sea.

Offspring
The actress's son, Yuri Virolainen, followed in his mother's footsteps and became an actor. He works in a theater in St. Petersburg. Yuri is married to actress Antonina Vvedenskaya, their family has a daughter, who was named in honor of her grandmother.
If we talk about Lyubov Virolainen Jr., her biography and personal life are not yet as rich as her grandmother’s, because the girl is still very young. He is a student at a theater university and acts in films. Lyubov’s famous work was her role in the film “Beyond the Law.” Well, future roles are undoubtedly ahead.
So, we talked about Lyubov Virolainen, biography, personal life and children of the actress.
