The Kiev-Svyatoshinsky District Court sentenced bus driver Mikhail Manyuk, who was involved in a car accident, which led to the death of “Diesel Show” participant Marina Poplavskaya. The man was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years in prison. "Glavkom" reports this.
During the meeting, Manyuk repented of his actions and admitted his guilt. In his justification, the man told the court that Poplavskaya complained of feeling unwell. At that moment, he was distracted and felt a blow to the left front side. Poplavskaya was standing at the driver’s seat at the time and flew out through the windshield.
The court took into account that the accused had no previous convictions and was supporting a small child. The man is not registered with a psychiatrist or narcologist, but during the investigation he gave truthful testimony.
Manyuk was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code “Violation of road safety rules or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles.” The court sentenced him to 5 years in prison and banned him from driving for three years. At the same time, the culprit of the accident was released from serving the main sentence, establishing a probationary period of three years.
The court also ordered Manyuk to pay 1.23 million hryvnia for moral and material damages to the families of the victims, including Marina Poplavskaya’s sister.
HISTORY OF THE ISSUE
The accident occurred on October 20, 2020 near the village of Mila, Kyiv region. The Neoplan N116 bus collided with a semi-trailer of a DAF tractor, which was moving in the same direction. The actors of the humorous project “Diesel Show” were traveling on the bus, returning from a tour in Lviv. Marina Poplavskaya sat in front next to the driver. She died on the spot from her injuries. Another 8 actors were injured.
The investigation into the case lasted more than a year. Bus driver Mikhail Manyuk admitted his guilt in violating road safety rules, which caused the tragedy.

Unfortunately, there were other equally terrible rumors. In fact, the artist died instantly, her body was torn into pieces. The reason for this was a strong impact from the collision of two vehicles, which fell exactly on the place where she was sitting. On buses, the star liked to ride in the front, next to the driver.
The woman did not change her habit even when she, along with other actors of the “Diesel Show,” was heading from Lvov to Kyiv. The accident occurred early Saturday morning on the Zhitomir highway, near the village of Mila. In total, there were 14 people on the bus, of whom only Poplavskaya died. Eight of the comedian’s colleagues were taken to the hospital with injuries of varying severity; doctors were no longer able to help Marina.
The terrible traffic accident occurred, as they said in the press, due to the fault of the driver of the Neoplan bus, who, having picked up high speed (more than 100 kilometers per hour), lost control and ultimately could not avoid a collision with a DAF truck. The cause of Poplavskaya’s death became one of the most discussed news stories in the fall of 2018. The day when the KVN and Diesel Show star passed away became a day of grief not only for her loved ones, but also for all admirers of the comedian’s many talents.

Evgeny Smorigin, with whom she repeatedly shared the stage, playing humorous scenes in front of the public, portraying spouses, could not miss the opportunity to say goodbye to Marina. Together they created one of television's most recognizable comic duos.
The event was not ignored by Yevgeny Nishchuk, who served as the Minister of Culture of Ukraine. Many social network users, including public figures, decided to remember the charismatic showwoman with kind words. Marina’s death was also commented on the official Kvartal 95 page.
Poplavskaya was buried, adhering to all Orthodox church canons. The funeral service for the late Marina Poplavskaya was held in the Cathedral of Hagia Sophia. The burial site was chosen in the Central Alley of the Zhytomyr Korbutovsky cemetery. Marina's grave was strewn with flowers.

At 6:43, the comedians' bus collided with a truck on the highway; as a result of the accident, the comedians received serious injuries, multiple fractures and bruises. When the ambulance arrived, they also learned that their colleague, 48-year-old Marina Poplavskaya, did not survive.

“We immediately took a roll call, we had hope that Marishka had come out,” says Yana.
“It still came out in Zhitomir. It’s just that during the trip she said two or three times: “Maybe we should get off in Zhitomir? “I asked while we were going out to smoke and drink coffee. It’s real, if anyone had at least some feeling...,” adds Alexander Berezhok.

The star was awarded the honorary Order of Merit, 3rd class, a month and a half after her death. Such a decree was signed by the then President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.
The state award ceremony took place within the framework of the regular session of the Zhytomyr City Council. The Order of Merit was accepted by Marina Poplavskaya’s own sister; Borislav Rosenblat, a people’s deputy, gave the order to the comedian who died in a terrible accident.
